Dark Energy Behavior from Static Equation of State in Non-Minimally Coupled Gravity with Scalar Deformation

In this study, we explore the cosmological implications of a modified gravity theory characterized by the function \( f(R, Σ, T) \), where \( R \) is the Ricci scalar, \( Σ\) represents a geometric deformation term, and \( T \) denotes the trace of the energy-momentum tensor. The model is reconstructed under the framework of three fundamental energy conditions: Null Energy Condition (NEC), Dominant Energy Condition (DEC), and Strong Energy Condition (SEC). We derive the corresponding Hubble parameter \( H(z) \) for each case and constrain the free parameters \( H_0 \), \( α\), and \( β\) using the latest Cosmic Chronometer (CC) and Pantheon+ Type Ia Supernova datasets. A thorough analysis of physical quantities such as pressure, energy density, and the equation of state parameter is carried out. Furthermore, diagnostic tools including the deceleration parameter \( q(z) \), statefinder parameters \( \{r, s\} \), and the $O_m(z)$ diagnostic are employed to assess the models viability. Our findings suggest that the model can consistently describe late-time cosmic acceleration and offers distinct behavior under different energy conditions, all while aligning with current observational data.

A new class of holographic dark energy models in LRS Bianchi Type-I

In this paper, we examine the (LRS) Bianchi-type-I cosmological model with holographic dark energy. The exact solutions to the corresponding field equations are obtained by using generalized hybrid expansion law (HEL). The EoS parameter $ω$ for DE is found to be time dependent and redshift dependent and its exiting range for derived model is agreeing well with the current observations. Here we likewise apply two mathematical diagnostics, the statefinder ({r, s}) and $ω_{d}-ω^{'}_{d}$ plane to segregate HDE model from the $ΛCDM$ model. Here the $ω_{d}-ω^{'}_{d}$ diagnostic trajectories is the good tool to classifying the dynamical DE model. We found that our model lies in both thawing region and freezing region. We have also construct the potential as well as dynamics of the quintessence and tachyon scalar field. Some physical and geometric properties of this model along with the physical acceptability of cosmological solution have been discussed in detail.

Charged quark stars in $f(R,T)$ gravity

Recent advances in nuclear theory combined with new astrophysical observations have led to the need for specific theoretical models that actually apply to phenomena on dense-matter physics. At the same time, quantum chromodynamics (QCD) predicts the existence of non-nucleonic degrees of freedom at high densities in neutron-star matter, such as quark matter. Within a confining quark matter model, which consists of homogeneous, neutral 3-flavor interacting quark matter with $\mathcal{O}(m_s^4)$ corrections, we study the structure of compact stars made of a charged perfect fluid in the context of $f(R,T)$ gravity. The system of differential equations that describe the structure of charged compact stars have been derived and solved numerically for a gravity model with $f(R,T)= R+ 2βT$. For simplicity, we assume that the charge density is proportional to the energy density, namely, $ρ_{\rm ch} = αρ$. It is demonstrated that matter-geometry coupling constant $β$ and the charge parameter $α$ affect the total gravitational mass and the radius of the star.

Corrected holographic dark energy with power-law entropy and Hubble Horizon cut-off in FRW Universe

In the present work, we investigate the power-law entropy corrected holographic dark energy (PLECHDE) model with Hubble horizon cutoff. We use 46 observational Hubble data points in the redshift range $0 \leq z \leq 2.36$ to determine the present Hubble constant $H_0$ and the model parameter $n$. It represents a phase transition of the universe from deceleration to acceleration and has the transition point at $z_t = 0.71165$. We investigate the observational constraints on the model and calculate some relevant cosmological parameters. We examine the model's validity by drawing state-finder parameters that yield the result compatible with the modern observational data. The model's physical and geometrical characteristics are also explored, and they are shown to match well with current observations of observational Hubble data (OHD) and the latest joint light curves(JLA) datasets.

Cosmic dynamics and qualitative study of Rastall model with spatial curvature

We investigate the cosmic dynamics of Rastall gravity in non-flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) space-time with barotropic fluid. In this context, we are concerned about the class of model satisfying the affine equation of state. We derive the autonomous system for the Rastall model with barotropic fluid. We apply the derived system to investigate the critical points for expanding and bouncing cosmologies and their stable nature and cosmological properties. The expanding cosmology yields de Sitter universe at late times with decelerating past having matter and radiation dominated phases. Investigation of autonomous system for bouncing cosmology yields oscillating solutions in positive spatial curvature region. We also investigate the consequences of setting-up a model of non-singular universe by using energy conditions. The distinct features of the Rastall model compared to the standard model have been discussed in detail.

Cosmographic analysis of a closed bouncing universe with the varying cosmological constant in $f(R,T)$ gravity

Modeling of matter bounce in $f(R,T)$ gravity has been presented with no violation of the null energy condition. Only a closed universe with negative pressure is allowed in good agreement with some recent observations which favor a universe with positive curvature. Our results agree with some recent works in which a combination of positive curvature and vacuum energy leads to non-singular bounces with no violation of the null energy condition. The stability of the model has been discussed. The cosmographic parameters are developed for the derived model to explain the accelerated expansion of the universe.

Electrically Charged Quark Stars in $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet Gravity

In this work we study the properties of compact spheres made of a charged perfect fluid with a MIT bag model EoS for quark matter. Considering static spherically symmetric spacetime we derive the hydrostatic equilibrium equations in the recently formulated four dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet ($4D$ EGB) gravity theory. In this setting, the modified TOV equations are solved numerically with the aim to investigate the impact of electric charge on the stellar structure. A nice feature of $4D$ EGB theory is that the Gauss-Bonnet term has a non-vanishing contribution to the gravitational dynamics in $4D$ spacetime. We therefore analyse the effects of Gauss-Bonnet coupling constant $α$ and the charge fraction $β$ on the mass-radius ($M-R$) diagram and also the mass-central density $(M-ρ_c)$ relation of quark stars. Finally, we conclude that depending on the choice of coupling constant one could have larger mass and radius compared with GR and can also be relevant for more massive compact objects due to the effect of the repulsive Coulomb force.

Renyi Holographic Dark Energy models in Teleparallel gravity

In this paper, we have investigated the physical behavior of cosmological models in the framework of modified Teleparallel gravity. This model is established using a Renyi holographic ``dark energy model (RHDE) with a Hubble cutoff. Here we have considered a homogeneous and isotropic Friedman universe filled with perfect `fluid. The physical parameters are derived for the present model in Compliances with 43 observational Hubble data sets (OHD). The equation of state (EoS) parameter in terms of $H(z)$ describes a the transition of the universe between phantom and non-phantom phases in the context of $f(T)$ gravity. Our model shows the violation of strong energy condition (SEC) and the weak energy condition (WEC) over the accelerated phantom regime. We also observed that these models occupy freezing regions through $ω_{D} -ω_{D}^{'}$ plane. Consequently, our Renyi HDE model is supported to the consequences of general relativity in the framework of $f(T)$ modified gravity.

Role of a periodic varying deceleration parameter in Particle creation with higher dimensional FLRW Universe

The present search focus on the mechanism of gravitationally influenced particle creation (PC) in higher dimensional Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker(FLRW) cosmological models with a cosmological constant (CC). The solution of the corresponding field equations is obtained by assuming a periodically varying deceleration parameter (PVDP) i.e. $q= m \cos kt - 1$ [Shen and Zhao, Chin. Phys. Lett., 31 (2014) 010401] which gives a scale factor $a(t) = a_0 \left[\tan \left(\frac{kt}{2}\right)\right]^\frac{1}{m}$, where $a_0$ is the scale factor at the current epoch. Here $k$ displays the PVDP periodicity and can be regarded as a parameter of cosmic frequency, $m$ is an enhancement element that increases the PVDP peak. Here, we investigated the periodic variation behavior of few quantities such as the deceleration parameter $q$, the energy density $ρ$, PC rate $ψ$, the entropy $S$, the CC $Λ$, Newton's gravitational constant $G$ and discuss their physical significance. We have also explored the density parameter, proper distance, angular distance, luminosity distance, apparent magnitude, age of the universe, and the look-back time with redshift $z$ and have observed the role of particle formation in-universe evolution in early and late times. The periodic nature of various physical parameters is also discussed which are supporting the recent observations.

Probing $κ(R,T)$ cosmology via empirical approach

In this paper, a stable flat cosmological model has been constructed and the evolution of dark energy has been investigated in the framework of the recently suggested $κ(R,T)$ gravity. The empirical approach we adopt in the current work reveals some interesting cosmological features consistent with observations and the standard $Λ$CDM model. The evolution of cosmic pressure shows a positive-to-negative transition corresponding to the cosmic deceleration-acceleration transition, both the deceleration parameter and the cosmic pressure have the positive-to-negative sign flipping. While this behavior can provide explanation for the deceleration-acceleration transition, the reason behind this positive-negative transition itself is still missing.

Crossing the phantom divide line in universal extra dimensions

We investigate the cosmic acceleration and the evolution of dark energy across the cosmological constant boundary in universal extra dimensions UED. We adopt an empirical approach to solve the higher-dimensional cosmological equations so that the deceleration parameter $q$ is consistent with observations. The expressions for the jerk and deceleration parameters are independent of the number of dimensions $n$. The behavior of pressure in $4$D shows a positive-to-negative transition corresponding to the deceleration-to-acceleration cosmic transition. This pressure behavior helps in providing an explanation to the cosmic deceleration-acceleration transition although the reason behind the transition itself remains unknown. In the conventional $4$D cosmology, there is a no-go theorem prevents the EoS parameter of a single perfect fluid in FRW geometry to cross the $ω=-1$ boundary. The current model includes a single homogenous but anisotropic perfect fluid in a homogenous FRW metric with two different scale factors in the ordinary $4$D and the UED. In contrast to the conventional $4$D cosmology, we have found that the dark energy evolution in UED shows $ω=-1$ crossing. however, the no-go theorem is still respected in $4$D where the EoS parameter doesn't cross the $ω=-1$ boundary.

Emergence and oscillation of cosmic space by joining M1-branes

Recently, it has been proposed by Padmanabhan that the difference between the number of degrees of freedom on the boundary surface and the number of degrees of freedom in a bulk region leads to the expansion of the universe. Now, a natural question arises, how this model could explain the oscillation of universe between contraction and expansion branches? We try to address this issue in the framework of BIonic system. In this model, $M0$-branes join to each other and give rise to a pair of $M1$-anti-$M1$-branes. The fields which live on these branes play the roles of massive gravitons that cause the emergence of a wormhole between them and formation of a BIon system. This wormhole dissolves into M1-branes and causes a divergence between the number of degrees of freedom on the boundary surface of $M1$ and the bulk leading to an expansion of $M1$-branes. When $M1$-branes become close to each other, the square energy of their system becomes negative and some tachyonic states emerge. To removes these states, $M1$-branes compact, the sign of compacted gravity changes, causing the arising of anti-gravity: in this case, branes get away from each other. By articulating $M1$-BIons, an M3-brane and an anti-$M3$-brane are created and connected by three wormholes forming an $M3$-BIon. This new system behaves like the initial system and by closing branes to each other, they compact and, by getting away from each other, they open. Our universe is located on one of these M3-branes and, by compacting $M3$-brane, it contracts and, by opening it, it expands.

Teleparallel loop quantum cosmology in a system of intersecting branes

Recently, some authors have removed the big bang singularity in teleparallel Loop Quantum Cosmology (LQC) and have shown that the universe may undergo a number of oscillations. We investigate the origin of this type of teleparallel theory in a system of intersecting branes in M-theory in which the angle between them changes with time. This system is constructed by two intersecting anti-D8-branes, one compacted D4-brane and the other a D3-brane. These branes are built by joining M0-branes which develop in decaying fundamental strings. The compacted D4-brane is located between two intersecting anti-D8 branes and glues to one of them. Our universe is located on the D3 brane which wraps the D4 brane from one end and sticks to one of the anti-D8 branes from another one. In this system, there are three types of fields, corresponding to compacted D4 branes, intersecting branes and D3-branes. These fields interact with each other and make the angle between branes oscillate. By decreasing this angle and approaching the intersecting anti-D8 branes towards each other, the D4 brane rolls, the D3 brane wraps around the D4 brane, and t he universe contracts. By separating the intersecting branes and increasing the angle, the D4 brane rolls in the opposite direction, the D3 brane separates from it and the expansion branch begins. Also, the interaction between branes in this system gives us the exact form of the relevant Lagrangian for teleparallel LQC.

Bianchi type-I transit cosmological models with time dependent gravitational and cosmological constants - reexamined

The present study reexamines the recent work of Pradhan et al. (Indian J. Phys. 88: 757, 2014) and obtained general exact solutions of the Einstein's field equations with variable gravitational and cosmological "constants" for a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type-I space-time. To study the transit behaviour of Universe, we consider a law of variation of scale factor $a(t) = \left(t^{k} e^{t}\right)^{\frac{1}{n}}$ which yields a time dependent deceleration parameter $q = - 1 + \frac{nk}{(k + t)^{2}}$, comprising a class of models that depicts a transition of the universe from the early decelerated phase to the recent accelerating phase. We find that the time dependent deceleration parameter is reasonable for the present day Universe and give an appropriate description of the evolution of the universe. For $n = 0.27k$, we obtain $q_{0} = -0.73$ which is similar to observed value of deceleration parameter at present epoch. It is also observed that for $n \geq 2$ and $k = 1$, we obtain a class of transit models of the universe from early decelerating to present accelerating phase. For $k = 0$, the universe has non-singular origin. In these models, we arrive at the decision that, from the structure of the field equations, the behaviour of cosmological and gravitational constants and are related. Taking into consideration the observational data, we conclude that the cosmological constant behaves as a positive decreasing function of time whereas gravitational constant is increasing and tend to a constant value at late time. $H(z)/(1+z)$ data ($32$ points) and model prediction as a function of redshift for different $k$ and $n$ are successfully presented by using recent data (Farooq and Ratra, Astrophys. J. 66: L7, 2013). Some physical and geometric properties of the models are also discussed.

Emergence and Expansion of Cosmic Space in BIonic system

Recently, Padmanabhan [arXiv:1206.4916] argued that the expansion rate of the universe can be thought of as the emergence of space as cosmic time progresses and is related to the difference between the surface degrees of freedom on the holographic horizon and the bulk degrees of freedom inside. The main question arises as to what is origin of emergence of space in 4D universe? We answer to this question in BIonic system. The BIon is a configuration in flat space of a D-brane and a parallel anti-D-brane connected by a thin shell wormhole with F-string charge. We propose a new model that allows all degrees of freedom inside and outside the universe are controlled by the evolutions of BIon in extra dimension and tend to degrees of freedom of black F-string in string theory or black M2-brane in M theory.

Fluid sphere: stability problem and dimensional constraint

We study different dimensional fluids inspired by noncommutative geometry which admit conformal Killing vectors. The solutions of the Einstein field equations examined specifically for five different set of spacetime. We calculate the active gravitational mass and impose stability conditions of the fluid sphere. The analysis thus carried out immediately indicates that at $4$-dimension only one can get a stable configuration for any spherically symmetric stellar system and any other dimensions, lower or higher, becomes untenable as far as the stability of a system is concerned.

Refraction-Based Alternative Explanation for: Bending of Light Near a Star, Gravitational Red/Blue Shift and Black-Hole

In this research-paper, many of the general-relativity-tests such as bending of light near a star and gravitational red/blue shift are explained without general-relativity & even without Newtonian-approach. The authors first raise questions on the validity of both, the Newtonian and the relativistic approach; and then propose a novel alternative-explanation. The new alternative explanation is based on refraction-phenomenon of optics. Estimation of results with new approach are in agreement with known values. Though physics is different, but it is argued that general-relativity based gravitational-bending and refraction based bending have more in common than is generally realized. Also discussed are black-hole and gravitational-lensing in the new perspective of refraction. The new refraction-based theory makes a few new predictions and also suggests a few tests.

Unifying inflation with late-time acceleration in BIonic system

In this research, we propose a new model that allows to unify inflation, deceleration and acceleration phases of expansion history in BIonic system. In this model, in the beginning, there have been $k$ black fundamental strings that transited to the BIon configuration at a corresponding point. At this point, two universe brane and universe antibrane have been created, interacted with each other via one wormhole and inflated. With decreasing temperature, the energy of this wormhole flowed into universe branes and lead to inflation. After a short time, wormhole died, inflation ended and deceleration epoch started. With approaching two universe brane and antibrane together, tachyon was born, grew and caused creation of one new wormhole. At this time, two universe brane and antibrane connected again and late-time acceleration era of the universe began. We compare our model with previous unified phantom model and observational data and obtain some cosmological parameters like temperature in terms of time. We also find that deceleration parameter is negative during inflation and late-time acceleration epochs and positive during deceleration era. This means that our model is consistent with previous prediction and cosmological experiments.

Bianchi Type-$V$ cosmology in $f(R,T)$ gravity with $Λ(T)$

A new class of cosmological models in $f(R, T)$ modified theories of gravity proposed by Harko et al. (2011), where the gravitational Lagrangian is given by an arbitrary function of Ricci scalar $R$ and the trace of the stress-energy tensor $T$, have been investigated for a specific choice of $f(R, T) = f_{1}(R) + f_{2}(T)$ by considering time dependent deceleration parameter. The concept of time dependent deceleration parameter (DP) with some proper assumptions yield the average scale factor $a(t) = \sinh^{\frac{1}{n}}(αt)$, where $n$ and $α$ are positive constants. For $0 < n \leq 1$, this generates a class of accelerating models while for $n > 1$, the models of universe exhibit phase transition from early decelerating phase to present accelerating phase which is in good agreement with the results from recent astrophysical observations. Our intention is to reconstruct $f(R,T)$ models inspired by this special law for the deceleration parameter in connection with the theories of modified gravity. In the present study we consider the cosmological constant $Λ$ as a function of the trace of the stress energy-momentum-tensor, and dub such a model "$Λ(T)$ gravity" where we have specified a certain form of $Λ(T)$. Such models may display better uniformity with the cosmological observations. The statefinder diagnostic pair $\{r,s\}$ parameter has been embraced to characterize different phases of the universe. We also discuss the physical consequences of the derived models.

String Cosmological Model in Cylindrically Symmetric Inhomogeneous Universe with Electromagnetic Field

Cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous string cosmological models in presence of electromagnetic field is investigated. We have assumed that $F_{12}$ is the only non-vanishing component of $F_{ij}$. The Maxwell's equations require that $F_{12}$ is the function of $x$ and $t$ both and the magnetic permeability is the function of $x$ and $t$ both. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion ($θ$) in the model is proportional to the eigen value $σ^{1}_{1}$ of the shear tensor $σ^{i}_{j}$. The derived model represents the inflationary scenario as the proper volume increases exponentially with cosmic time. It is observed that the model has a point type singularity. The physical and geometric aspects of the model are also discussed.

Viscous Dark Energy and Phantom Field in An Anisotropic Universe

In this paper we have investigated the general form of viscous and non-viscous dark energy equation of state (EoS) parameter in the scope of anisotropic Bianchi type I space-time. We show that the presence of bulk viscosity causes transition of $ω^{de}$ from quintessence to phantom but the phantom state is an unstable state (as expected) and EoS of DE tends to $-1$ at late time. Then we show this phantomic description of the viscous dark energy and reconstruct the potential of the phantom scalar field. It is found that bulk viscosity pushes the universe to a darker region. We have also shown that at late time $q\sim-Ω^{de}$.

Two-fluid atmosphere from decelerating to accelerating FRW dark energy models

The evolution of the dark energy parameter within the scope of a spatially homogeneous and isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model filled with perfect fluid and dark energy components is studied by generalizing the recent results (Amirhashchi et al. in Int. J. Theor. Phys. 50: 3529, 2011b). The two sources are claimed to interact minimally so that their energy momentum tensors are conserved separately. The conception of time-dependent deceleration parameter (DP) with some suitable assumption yields an average scale factor $a = [\sinh (αt)]^{\frac{1}{n}}$, with $α$ and $n$ being positive arbitrary constants. For $0 < n \leq 1$, this generates a class of accelerating models while for $n > 1$, the models of universe exhibit phase transition from early decelerating phase to present accelerating phase which is supported with the results from recent astrophysical observations. It is observed that the transition red shift ($z_{t}$) for our derived model with $q_{0} = -0.73$ is $\cong 0.32$. This is in good agreement with the cosmological observations in the literature. Some physical and geometric properties of the model along with physical acceptability of cosmological solutions have been discussed in detail.

Two-Fluid Dark Energy Models in Bianchi Type-III Universe with Variable Deceleration Parameter

Some new exact solutions of Einstein's field equations have come forth within the scope of a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type-III space-time filled with barotropic fluid and dark energy by considering a variable deceleration parameter. We consider the case when the dark energy is minimally coupled to the perfect fluid as well as direct interaction with it. Under the suitable condition, the anisotropic models approach to isotropic scenario. We also find that during the evolution of the universe, the equation of state (EoS) for dark energy $ω^{(de)}$, in both cases, tends to -1 (cosmological constant, $ω^{(de)} = -1$), by displaying various patterns as time increases, which is consistent with recent observations. The cosmic jerk parameter in our derived models are in good agreement with the recent data of astrophysical observations under appropriate condition. It is observed that the universe starts from an asymptotic Einstein static era and reaches to the $Λ$CDM model. So from recently developed Statefinder parameters, the behavior of different stages of the universe has been studied. The physical and geometric properties of cosmological models are also discussed.

A New Class of Bianchi Type-I Cosmological Models in Scalar-Tensor Theory of Gravitation and Late Time Acceleration

A new class of a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi type-I cosmological models of the universe for perfect fluid distribution within the framework of scalar-tensor theory of gravitation proposed by Saez and Ballester (Phys. Lett. 113:467, 1986) is investigated. To prevail the deterministic solutions we choose the different scale factors which yield time-dependent deceleration parameters (DP) representing models which generate a transition of the universe from the early decelerated phase to the recent accelerating phase. Three different physically viable models of the universe are obtained in which their anisotropic solutions may enter to some isotropic inflationary era. The modified Einstein's field equations are solved exactly and the models are found to be in good concordance with recent observations. Some physical and geometric properties of the models are also discussed.

A New Class of LRS Bianchi Type ${\rm VI}_{0}$ Universes with Free Gravitational Field and Decaying Vacuum Energy Density

A new class of LRS Bianchi type ${\rm VI}_{0}$ cosmological models with free gravitational fields and a variable cosmological term is investigated in presence of perfect fluid as well as bulk viscous fluid. To get the deterministic solution we have imposed the two different conditions over the free gravitational fields. In first case we consider the free gravitational field as magnetic type whereas in second case `gravitational wrench' of unit `pitch" is supposed to be present in free gravitational field. The viscosity coefficient of bulk viscous fluid is assumed to be a power function of mass density. The cosmological constant $Λ$ is found to be a decreasing function of time and positive which is corroborated by results from recent supernovae Ia observations. The physical and geometric aspects of the models are discussed.

Accelerating Bianchi Type-V Cosmology with Perfect Fluid and Heat Flow in Saez-Ballester Theory

In this paper we discuss the law of variation of scale factor $a = (t^{k}e^{t})^{\frac{1}{n}}$ which yields a time-dependent deceleration parameter (DP) representing a new class of models that generate a transition of universe from the early decelerated phase to the recent accelerating phase. Exact solutions of Einstein's modified field equations with perfect fluid and heat conduction are obtained within the framework of Saez-Ballester scalar-tensor theory of gravitation and the model is found to be in good agreement with recent observations. We find, for n = 3, k = 1, the present value of DP in derived model as q_0 = -0.67 which is very near to the observed value of DP at present epoch. We find that the time-dependent DP is sensible for the present day Universe and give an earmark description of evolution of universe. Some physical and geometric properties of the models are also discussed.

Accelerating dark energy models with anisotropic fluid in Bianchi type-$VI_{0}$ space-time

Motivated by the increasing evidence for the need of a geometry that resembles Bianchi morphology to explain the observed anisotropy in the WMAP data, we have discussed some features of the Bianchi type-$VI_{0}$ universes in the presence of a fluid that wields an anisotropic equation of state (EoS) parameter in general relativity. We present two accelerating dark energy (DE) models with an anisotropic fluid in Bianchi type-$VI_{0}$ space-time. To prevail the deterministic solution we choose the scale factor $a(t) = \sqrt{t^{n}e^{t}}$, which yields a time-dependent deceleration parameter (DP), representing a class of models which generate a transition of the universe from the early decelerating phase to the recent accelerating phase. Under the suitable condition, the anisotropic models approach to isotropic scenario. The EoS for dark energy $ω$ is found to be time-dependent and its existing range for derived models is in good agreement with the recent observations of SNe Ia data (Knop et al. 2003), SNe Ia data with CMBR anisotropy and galaxy clustering statistics (Tegmark et al. 2004) and latest combination of cosmological datasets coming from CMB anisotropies, luminosity distances of high redshift type Ia supernovae and galaxy clustering (Hinshaw et al. 2009; Komatsu et al. 2009). For different values of $n$, we can generate a class of physically viable DE models. The cosmological constant $Λ$ is found to be a positive decreasing function of time and it approaches to a small positive value at late time (i.e. the present epoch) which is corroborated by results from recent type Ia supernovae observations. We also observe that our solutions are stable. The physical and geometric aspects of both the models are also discussed in detail.

Anisotropic Bianchi-I Cosmological Models in String Cosmology with Variable Deceleration Parameter

The present study deals with spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi-I cosmological model representing massive strings. The energy-momentum tensor, as formulated by Letelier (Phys. Rev. D 28: 2414, 1983) has been used to construct massive string cosmological model for which we assume that the expansion scalar in the model is proportional to one of the components of shear tensor. The Einstein's field equations have been solved by considering time dependent deceleration parameter which renders the scale factor $a = (\sinh(αt))^{\frac{1}{n}}$, where $α$ and $n$ are constants. It has been detected that, for $n > 1$, the presented model has a transition of the universe from the early decelerated phase to the recent accelerating phase at present epoch while for $0 < n \leq 1$, this describes purely accelerating universe which is consistent with recent astrophysical observations. Moreover, some physical and geometric properties of the model along with physical acceptability of the solutions have been also discussed in detail.

Interacting Two-Fluid Viscous Dark Energy Models In Non-Flat Universe

We study the evolution of the dark energy parameter within the scope of a spatially non-flat and isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model filled with barotropic fluid and bulk viscous stresses. We have obtained cosmological solutions which exhibit without a big rip singularity. It is concluded that in both non-interacting and interacting cases non-flat open universe crosses the phantom region. We find that during the evolution of the universe, the equation of state (EoS) for dark energy $ω_{D}$ changes from $ω^{eff}_{D} < -1$ to $ω^{eff}_{D} > -1$, which is consistent with recent observations.

We consider the two cases of an interacting and non-interacting two-fluid (barotropic and dark energy) scenario and obtained general results. We find that for $n \geq 1$, the quintessence model is reproducible with present and expected future evolution of the universe. The other models (for $n < 1$), we observe the phantom scenario. The quintessence as well as phantom models approach to isotropy at late time. For different values of $n$, we can generate a class of physically viable DE models. The cosmic jerk parameter in our descended model is also found to be in good concordance with the recent data of astrophysical observations under appropriate condition. The physical and geometric properties of spatially homogeneous and anisotropic cosmological models are discussed.

An Interacting Two-Fluid Scenario for Dark Energy in FRW Universe

We study the evolution of the dark energy parameter within the scope of a spatially flat and isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model filled with barotropic fluid and dark energy. To obtain the deterministic solution we choose the scale factor $a(t) = \sqrt{t e^{t}}$ which yields a time dependent deceleration parameter (DP). In doing so we consider the case minimally coupled with dark energy to the perfect fluid as well as direct interaction with it.

Bulk Viscous LRS Biachi-I Universe with variable $G$ and decaying $Λ$

The present study deals with spatially homogeneous and totally anisotropic locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) Bianchi type I cosmological model with variable $G$ and $Λ$ in presence of imperfect fluid. To get the deterministic model of Universe, we assume that the expansion $(θ)$ in the model is proportional to shear $(σ)$. This condition leads to $A=\ell B^{n}$, where $A$,\;$B$ are metric potential. The cosmological constant $Λ$ is found to be decreasing function of time and it approaches a small positive value at late time which is supported by recent Supernovae Ia (SN Ia) observations. Also it is evident that the distance modulus curve of derived model matches with observations perfectly.

LRS Bianchi Type-II Massive String Cosmological Models in General Relativity

The present study deals with locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) Bianchi type II cosmological models representing massive string. The energy-momentum tensor for such string as formulated by Letelier (1983) is used to construct massive string cosmological models for which we assume that the expansion ($θ$) in the models is proportional to the shear ($σ$). This condition leads to $A = B^{m}$, where A and B are the metric coefficients and m is constant. We have derived two types of models depending on different values of m i.e. for $m\neq \sqrt{2}$ and $m = \sqrt{2}$ respectively. For suitable choice of constant m (i.e. for $m = 1/2$), it is observed that in early stage of the evolution of the universe, the universe is dominated by strings in both cases. Our models are in accelerating phase which is consistent to the recent observations of type Is supernovae. Some physical and geometric behaviour of the models are also discussed.

A Novel Concept for Mass as Complex-Mass towards Wave-particle Duality

In the present paper a new concept is introduced that: `mass is a complex quantity'. The concept of complex-mass suggests that the total mass M of a moving body is complex sum of: (i) the real-part (grain or rest) mass $m_{g}$ establishing its particle behaviour and (ii) the imaginary-part mass $m_{p}$ governing its wave properties. Mathematically, the complex mass $M = m_{g} + im_{p}$; the magnitude $\mid M \mid = (m_{g}^{2} + m_{p}^{2})^{1/2}. The theory proposed here explains successfully several effects such as `Compton effect' and `refraction of light' which could not be explained otherwise by a single theory of wave or particle. Also explained are `Doppler effect for light', `photo-electric effect', `Uncertainty principle', `Relativity' and `supersymmetry'

A theoretically-explained new-variant of Modified-Newtonian-Dynamics (MOND)

It is surprising that we hardly know only 5% of the universe. Rest of the universe is made up of 70% of dark-energy and 25% of dark-matter. Dark-energy is responsible for acceleration of the expanding universe; whereas dark-matter is said to be necessary as extra-mass of bizarre-properties to explain the anomalous rotational-velocity of galaxy. Though the existence of dark-energy has gradually been accepted in scientific community, but the candidates for dark-matter have not been found as yet and are too crazy to be accepted. Thus, it is obvious to look for an alternative theory in place of dark-matter. Israel-scientist M. Milgrom has suggested a 'Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND)' which appears to be highly successful for explaining the anomalous rotational-velocity. But unfortunately MOND lacks theoretical support. The MOND, in-fact, is (empirical) modification of Newtonian-Dynamics through modification in the kinematical acceleration term 'a' (which is normally taken as $a=\frac{v^{2}}{r}$) as effective kinematic acceleration $a_{effective} = a μ(\frac{a}{a_{0}})$, wherein the $μ$-function is 1 for usual-values of accelerations but equals to $\frac{a}{a_{0}} (\ll 1)$ if the acceleration 'a' is extremely-low lower than a critical value $a_0 (10^{-10} m/s^{2})$. In the present paper, a novel variant of MOND is proposed with theoretical backing; wherein with the consideration of universe's acceleration $a_{d}$ due to dark-energy, a new type of $μ$-function on theoretical-basis emerges out leading to $a_{effective} = a(1 - K \frac{a_{0}}{a})$. The proposed theoretical-MOND model too is able to fairly explain qualitatively the more-or-less 'flat' velocity-curve of galaxy-rotation, and is also able to predict a dip (minimum) on the curve.

Bianchi Type-I Anisotropic Dark Energy Models with Constant Deceleration Parameter

New dark energy models in anisotropic Bianchi type-I (B-I) space-time with variable EoS parameter and constant deceleration parameter have been investigated in the present paper. The Einstein's field equations have been solved by applying a variation law for generalized Hubble's parameter in B-I space-time. The variation law for Hubble's parameter generates two types of solutions for the average scale factor, one is of power-law type and other is of the exponential form. Using these two forms, Einstein's field equations are solved separately that correspond to expanding singular and non-singular models of the universe respectively. The equation of state (EoS) parameter $ω$ is found to be time dependent and its existing range for this model is in good agreement with the recent observations of SNe Ia data, SNe Ia data (with CMBR anisotropy) and galaxy clustering statistics. The cosmological constant $Λ$ is found to be a decreasing function of time and it approaches a small positive value at late time (i.e. the present epoch) which is corroborated by results from recent supernovae Ia observations.

Bianchi Type-II String Cosmological Models in Normal Gauge for Lyra's Manifold with Constant Deceleration Parameter

The present study deals with a spatially homogeneous and anisotropic Bianchi-II cosmological models representing massive strings in normal gauge for Lyra's manifold by applying the variation law for generalized Hubble's parameter that yields a constant value of deceleration parameter. The variation law for Hubble's parameter generates two types of solutions for the average scale factor, one is of power-law type and other is of the exponential form. Using these two forms, Einstein's modified field equations are solved separately that correspond to expanding singular and non-singular models of the universe respectively. The energy-momentum tensor for such string as formulated by Letelier (1983) is used to construct massive string cosmological models for which we assume that the expansion ($θ$) in the model is proportional to the component $σ^{1}_{~1}$ of the shear tensor $σ^{j}_{i}$. This condition leads to $A = (BC)^{m}$, where A, B and C are the metric coefficients and m is proportionality constant. Our models are in accelerating phase which is consistent to the recent observations. It has been found that the displacement vector $β$ behaves like cosmological term $Λ$ in the normal gauge treatment and the solutions are consistent with recent observations of SNe Ia. It has been found that massive strings dominate in the decelerating universe whereas strings dominate in the accelerating universe. Some physical and geometric behaviour of these models are also discussed.

Dark Energy Model in Anisotropic Bianchi Type-III Space-Time with Variable EoS Parameter

A new dark energy model in anisotropic Bianchi type-III space-time with variable equation of state (EoS) parameter has been investigated in the present paper. To get the deterministic model, we consider that the expansion $θ$ in the model is proportional to the eigen value $σ^{2}_{~2}$ of the shear tensor $σ^{j}_~i$. The EoS parameter $ω$ is found to be time dependent and its existing range for this model is in good agreement with the recent observations of SNe Ia data (Knop et al. 2003) and SNe Ia data with CMBR anisotropy and galaxy clustering statistics (Tegmark et al. 2004). It has been suggested that the dark energy that explains the observed accelerating expansion of the universe may arise due to the contribution to the vacuum energy of the EoS in a time dependent background. Some physical aspects of dark energy model are also discussed.

Is Hubble's Expansion due to Dark Energy

{\it The universe is expanding} is known (through Galaxy observations) since 1929 through Hubble's discovery ($V = H D$). Recently in 1999, it is found (through Supernovae observations) that the universe is not simply expanding but is accelerating too. We, however, hardly know only $4\%$ of the universe. The Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) satellite observational data suggest $73\%$ content of the universe in the form of dark-energy, $23\%$ in the form of non-baryonic dark-matter and the rest $4\%$ in the form of the usual baryonic matter. The acceleration of the universe is ascribed to this dark-energy with bizarre properties (repulsive-gravity). The question is that whether Hubble's expansion is just due to the shock of big-bang & inflation or it is due to the repulsive-gravity of dark-energy? Now, it is believed to be due to dark-energy, say, by re-introducing the once-discarded cosmological-constant $Λ$. In the present paper, it is shown that `the formula for acceleration due to dark-energy' is (almost) exactly of same-form as `the acceleration formula from the Hubble's law'. Hence, it is concluded that: yes, `indeed it is the dark-energy responsible for the Hubble's expansion too, in-addition to the current on-going acceleration of the universe'.

Redefining Heat and Work in the Right Perspective of Second-law-of-Thermodynamics

There are some misnomers and misconceptions about what is heat and what is work; the recognition of heat and work is even more difficult when it comes to categorize energy as heat or work. Since both heat and work are energy the name-confusion does not make much difference from engineering point of view, but re-defining `heat' and `work' in the right-perspective of second-law-of-thermodynamics \cite {ref1} is necessary to revise our understanding at fundamental level. It is concluded that `heat is the energy carried by mass-less \textit{photons} whereas work is energy carried by mass-ive material \textit{fermions}'. Revised understanding of heat and work in this way has far reaching consequences in Physics [2-4]. The present paper lays emphasis on re-defining heat and work, removing the prevailing misconception, talks about single photon interaction and heat property of photon. Also, interestingly, it is noted that different fields of study such as `Thermodynamics' and `Relativity' are interlinked.

Genesis of Dark Energy: Dark Energy as Consequence of Release and Two-stage Tracking Cosmological Nuclear Energy

Recent observations on Type-Ia supernovae and low density ($Ω_{m} = 0.3$) measurement of matter including dark matter suggest that the present-day universe consists mainly of repulsive-gravity type `exotic matter' with negative-pressure often said `dark energy' ($Ω_{x} = 0.7$). But the nature of dark energy is mysterious and its puzzling questions, such as why, how, where and when about the dark energy, are intriguing. In the present paper the authors attempt to answer these questions while making an effort to reveal the genesis of dark energy and suggest that `the cosmological nuclear binding energy liberated during primordial nucleo-synthesis remains trapped for a long time and then is released free which manifests itself as dark energy in the universe'. It is also explained why for dark energy the parameter $w = - {2/3}$. Noting that $ w = 1$ for stiff matter and $w = {1/3}$ for radiation; $w = - {2/3}$ is for dark energy because $"-1"$ is due to `deficiency of stiff-nuclear-matter' and that this binding energy is ultimately released as `radiation' contributing $"+ {1/3}"$, making $w = -1 + {1/3} = - {2/3}$. When dark energy is released free at $Z = 80$, $w = -{2/3}$. But as on present day at $Z = 0$ when radiation strength has diminished to $δ\to 0$, $w = -1 + δ{1/3} = - 1$. This, thus almost solves the dark-energy mystery of negative pressure and repulsive-gravity. The proposed theory makes several estimates /predictions which agree reasonably well with the astrophysical constraints and observations. Though there are many candidate-theories, the proposed model of this paper presents an entirely new approach (cosmological nuclear energy) as a possible candidate for dark energy.

Inhomogeneous Perfect Fluid Universe with Electromagnetic Field in Lyra Geometry

A new class of cylindrically symmetric inhomogeneous cosmological models for perfect fluid distribution with electromagnetic field is obtained in the context of Lyra's geometry. We have obtained two types of solutions by considering the uniform as well as time dependent displacement field. The source of the magnetic field is due to an electric current produced along the z-axis. Only $F_{12}$ is a non-vanishing component of electromagnetic field tensor. To get the deterministic solution, it has been assumed that the expansion $θ$ in the model is proportional to the shear $σ$. It has been found that the solutions are consistent with the recent observations of type Ia supernovae and the displacement vector $β(t)$ affects entropy. Physical and geometric aspects of the models are also discussed in presence and absence of magnetic field.

Nonsingular Spherical Models with a Variable Cosmological term

Exact solutions of the Einstein's field equations describing a spherically symmetric cosmological model without a big bang or any other kind of singularity recently obtained by Dadhich and Patel (2000) are revisited. The matter content of the model is a shear-free perfect fluid with isotropic pressure and a radial heat flux. Three different exact solutions are obtained for both perfect fluid and fluid with bulk viscosity. It turns out that the cosmological rerm $Λ(t)$ is a decreasing function of time, which is consistent with recent observations of type Ia supernovae.
