Lie models of homotopy automorphism monoids and classifying fibrations

Given XX a finite nilpotent simplicial set, consider the classifying fibrations X→BautG∗(X)→BautG(X),X→Z→Bautπ∗(X), X\to Baut_G^*(X)\to Baut_G(X),\qquad X\to Z\to Baut_π^*(X), where GG and ππ denote, respectively, subgroups of the free and pointed homotopy classes of free and pointed self homotopy equivalences of XX which act nilpotently on H∗(X)H_*(X) and π∗(X)π_*(X). We give algebraic models, in terms of complete differential graded Lie algebras (cdgl's), of the rational homotopy type of these fibrations. Explicitly, if LL is a cdgl model of XX, there are connected sub cdgl's DerGLDer^G L and DerπLDer^π L of the Lie algebra DerLDer L of derivations of LL such that the geometrical realization of the sequences of cdgl morphisms L→adDerGL→DerGL×~sL,L→L×~DerπL→DerπL L\stackrel{ad}{\to} Der^G L\to Der^G L\widetilde\times sL,\qquad L\to L\widetilde\times Der^π L\to Der^π L have the rational homotopy type of the above classifying fibrations. Among the consequences we also describe in cdgl terms the Malcev QQ-completion of GG and ππ together with the rational homotopy type of the classifying spaces BGBG and BπBπ.

Lie models of simplicial sets and representability of the Quillen functor

Extending the model of the interval, we explicitly define for each n≥0n\ge 0 a free complete differential graded Lie algebra Ln\mathfrak{L}_n generated by the simplices of ΔnΔ^n, with desuspended degrees, in which the vertices are Maurer-Cartan elements and the differential extends the simplicial chain complex of the standard nn-simplex. The family {L∙}n≥0\{\mathfrak{L}_\bullet\}_{n\ge 0} is endowed with a cosimplicial differential graded Lie algebra structure which we use to construct a pair of adjoint functors between the categories of simplicial sets and complete differential graded Lie algebras given by ⟨L⟩∙= DGL(L∙,L)\langle L\rangle_\bullet=\text{ DGL} (\mathfrak{L}_\bullet,L) and L(K)=lim→⁡KL∙ \mathfrak{L}(K)=\varinjlim_K\mathfrak{L}_{\bullet} . This new tools let us extend Quillen rational homotopy theory approach to any simplicial set KK whose path components are non necessarily simply connected. We prove that L(K)\mathfrak{L} (K) contains a model of each component of KK. When KK is a 11-connected finite simplicial complex, the Quillen model of KK can be extracted from L(K)\mathfrak{L} (K). When KK is connected then, for a perturbed differential ∂a\partial_a, H0(L(K),∂a)H_0(\mathfrak{L} (K),\partial_a) is the Malcev Lie completion of π1(K)π_1(K). Analogous results are obtained for the realization ⟨L⟩\langle L\rangle of any complete DGL\text{DGL}.

The gauge action, DG Lie algebra and identities for Bernoulli numbers

In this paper we prove a family of identities for Bernoulli numbers parameterized by triples of integers (a,b,c)(a,b,c) with a+b+c=n−1a+b+c=n-1, n≥4n\ge 4. These identities are deduced while translating into homotopical terms the gauge action on the Maurer Cartan Set which can be seen an abstraction of the behaviour of gauge infinitesimal transformations in classical gauge theory. We show that Euler and Miki's identities, well known and apparently non related formulas, are linear combinations of our family and they satisfy a particular symmetry relation.

The homotopy fixed point set of Lie group actions on elliptic spaces

Let GG be a compact connected Lie group, or more generally a path connected topological group of the homotopy type of a finite CW-complex, and let XX be a rational nilpotent GG-space. In this paper we analyze the homotopy type of the homotopy fixed point set XhGX^{hG}, and the natural injection k ⁣:XG↪XhGk\colon X^G\hookrightarrow X^{hG}. We show that if XX is elliptic, that is, it has finite dimensional rational homotopy and cohomology, then each path component of XhGX^{hG} is also elliptic. We also give an explicit algebraic model of the inclusion kk based on which we can prove, for instance, that for GG a torus, π∗(k)π_*(k) is injective in rational homotopy but, often, far from being a rational homotopy equivalence.

LinftyL_infty rational homotopy of mapping spaces

In this paper we describe explicit L∞L_\infty algebras modeling the rational homotopy type of any component of the spaces $\map(X,Y)$ and $\map^*(X,Y)$ of free and pointed maps between the finite nilpotent CW-complex XX and the finite type nilpotent CW-complex YY. When XX is of finite type, non necessarily finite, we also show that the algebraic covers of these L∞L_\infty algebras model the universal covers of the corresponding mapping spaces.
