A Detailed Analysis on Sharpened Singular Adams-Type Inequalities

We establish a sharp Adams-type inequality in higher-order function spaces with singular weights on $\mathbb{R}^n$. A sharp singular concentration-compactness principle, improving Lions' result, is also proved. The study distinguishes between critical and subcritical sharp singular Adams-type inequalities and shows their equivalence. Furthermore, we analyze the asymptotic behavior of the associated bounds and relate the suprema of the critical and subcritical cases. A new compact embedding, crucial to our analysis, is also derived. Moreover, as an application of these results, by employing the mountain pass theorem, we study the existence of nontrivial solutions to a class of nonhomogeneous quasilinear elliptic equations involving the $(p,\frac{n}{2})$-biharmonic operator with singular exponential growth.

On the Generalized Hardy-Rellich Inequalities

In this article, we look for the weight functions (say $g$) that admits the following generalized Hardy-Rellich type inequality: $ \int_Ω g(x) u^2 dx \leq C \int_Ω |Δu|^2 dx, \forall u \in \mathcal{D}^{2,2}_0(Ω), $ for some constant $C>0$, where $Ω$ is an open set in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with $N\ge 1$. We find various classes of such weight functions, depending on the dimension $N$ and the geometry of $Ω.$ Firstly, we use the Muckenhoupt condition for the one dimensional weighted Hardy inequalities and a symmetrization inequality to obtain admissible weights in certain Lorentz-Zygmund spaces. Secondly, using the fundamental theorem of integration we obtain the weight functions in certain weighted Lebesgue spaces. As a consequence of our results, we obtain simple proofs for the embeddings of $\mathcal{D}^{2,2}_0(Ω)$ into certain Lorentz-Zygmund spaces proved by Hansson and later by Brezis and Wainger.

Magnetic properties of rare earth and transition metal based perovskite type high entropy oxides

High entropy oxides (HEO) are a recently introduced class of oxide materials, which are characterized by a large number of elements (i.e. five or more) sharing one lattice site which crystallize in a single phase structure. One complex example of the rather young HEO family are the rare-earth transition metal perovskite high entropy oxides. In this comprehensive study, we provide an overview over the magnetic properties of three perovskite type high entropy oxides. The compounds have a rare-earth site which is occupied by five different rare-earth elements, while the transition metal site is occupied by a single transition metal. In this way a comparison to the parent binary oxides, namely the orthocobaltites, -chromites and -ferrites is possible. X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES), magnetometry and Mössbauer spectroscopy are employed to characterize these complex materials. In general, we find surprising similarities to the magnetic properties of the binary oxides, despite the chemical disorder on the rare-earth site. However distinct differences and interesting magnetic properties are also observed such as noncollinearity, spin reorientation transitions as well as large coercive fields of up to 2\,T at ambient temperature. Both the chemical disorder on the RE A-site, and the nature of the TM on the B-site play an important role in the physical properties of these high entropy oxides.

Omnidirectional Three Module Robot Design and Simulation

This paper introduces the Omnidirectional Tractable Three Module Robot for traversing inside complex pipe networks. The robot consists of three omnidirectional modules fixed 120° apart circumferentially which can rotate about their axis allowing holonomic motion of the robot. Holonomic motion enables the robot to overcome motion singularity when negotiating T-junctions and further allows the robot to arrive in a preferred orientation while taking turns inside a pipe. The singularity region while negotiating T-junctions is analyzed to formulate the geometry of the region. The design and motion capabilities are validated by conducting simulations in MSC ADAMS on a simplified lumped-model of the robot.

Role of intermediate 4$f$ states in tuning the band structure of high entropy oxides

High entropy oxides (HEOs) are single phase solid solutions consisting of 5 or more cations in approximately equiatomic proportions. In this study, we show reversible control of optical properties in a rare-earth (RE) based HEO-(Ce$_{0.2}$La$_{0.2}$Pr$_{0.2}$Sm$_{0.2}$Y$_{0.2}$)O$_{2-δ}$ and subsequently utilize a combination of spectroscopic techniques to derive the features of the electronic band structure underpinning the observed optical phenomena. Heat treatment of the HEO under vacuum atmosphere followed by reheat-treatment in air results in a reversible change of the band gap energy, from 1.9 eV to 2.5 eV. The finding is consistent with the reversible changes in the oxidation state and related $f$-orbital occupancy of Pr. However, no pertinent changes in the phase composition or crystal structure is observed upon the vacuum heat treatment. Further annealing of this HEO under H$_2$ atmosphere, followed by reheat-treatment in air, results in even larger but still reversible change of the band gap energy from 1.9 eV to 3.2 eV. This is accompanied by a disorder-order type crystal structure transition and changes in the O 2$p$-RE 5$d$ hybridization evidenced from X-ray absorption near edge spectra (XANES). The O $K$ and RE ${M_{4,5}}$/$L_{3}$ XANES indicate that the presence of Ce and Pr (in 3+/4+) state leads to the formation of intermediate 4$f$ energy levels between the O 2$p$ and RE 5$d$ gap in HEO. It is concluded that heat treatment under reducing/oxidizing atmospheres affects these intermediate levels, thus, offering the possibility to tune the band gap energy in HEO.

Existence and Multiplicity of a Nonhomogeneous Polyharmonic Equation With Critical Exponential Growth in Even Dimension

In this paper we study the existence of at least two positive weak solutions for an inhomogeneous fourth order equation with Navier boundary data involving nonlinearities of critical growth with a bifurcation parameter $λ$ in $\mathbb{R}^{2m}$. We establish here the lower and upper bound for $λ$ which determine multiplicity and non-existence respectively.

Isolated Singularities of Polyharmonic Operator in Even Dimension

We consider the equation $Δ^2 u=g(x,u) \geq 0$ in the sense of distribution in $Ω'=Ω\setminus \{0\} $ where $u$ and $ -Δu\geq 0.$ Then it is known that $u$ solves $Δ^2 u=g(x,u)+αδ_0-βΔδ_0,$ for some non-negative constants $α$ and $ β.$ In this paper we study the existence of singular solutions to $Δ^2 u= a(x) f(u)+αδ_0-βΔδ_0$ in a domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^4,$ $ a$ is a non-negative measurable function in some Lebesgue space. If $Δ^2 u=a(x)f(u)$ in $Ω',$ then we find the growth of the nonlinearity $f$ that determines $α$ and $β$ to be $0.$ In case when $α=β=0,$ we will establish regularity results when $f(t)\leq C e^{γt},$ for some $C, γ>0.$ This paper extends the work of Soranzo (1997) where the author finds the barrier function in higher dimensions $(N\geq 5)$ with a specific weight function $a(x)=|x|^σ.$ Later we discuss its analogous generalization for the polyharmonic operator.
