On quaternion algebras over some extensions of quadratic number fields

Let pp and qq be two positive primes. Let ℓ\ell be an odd positive prime integer and FF a quadratic number field. Let KK be an extension of FF such that KK is a dihedral extension of $\Q$ of degree ℓ\ell over FF or KK is an abelian ℓ\ell-extension unramified over FF assuming ℓ\ell divides the class number of FF. In this paper, we obtain a complete characterization of division quaternion algebras HK(p,q)H_{K}(p, q) over KK.

Capitulation in the absolutely abelian extensions of some number fields II

We study the capitulation of 22-ideal classes of an infinite family of imaginary biquadratic number fields consisting of fields k=Q(pq1q2,i)k =Q(\sqrt{pq_1q_2}, i), where i=−1i=\sqrt{-1} and q1≡q2≡−p≡−1(mod4)q_1\equiv q_2\equiv-p\equiv-1 \pmod 4 are different primes. For each of the three quadratic extensions K/kK/k inside the absolute genus field k(∗)k^{(*)} of kk, we compute the capitulation kernel of K/kK/k. Then we deduce that each strongly ambiguous class of k/Q(i)k/Q(i) capitulates already in k(∗)k^{(*)}.

Capitulation in the absolutely abelian extensions of some fields Q(p1p2q,−1)\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{p_1p_2q}, \sqrt{-1})

We study the capitulation of 22-ideal classes of an infinite family of imaginary bicyclic biquadratic number fields consisting of fields k=Q(p1p2q,i)\mathbf{k} =\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{p_1p_2q}, i), where i=−1i=\sqrt{-1} and p1≡p2≡−q≡1(mod4)p_1\equiv p_2\equiv-q\equiv1 \pmod 4 are different primes. For each of the three quadratic extensions K/k\mathbf{K}/\mathbf{k} inside the absolute genus field k(∗)\mathbf{k}^{(*)} of k\mathbf{k}, we compute the capitulation kernel of K/k\mathbf{K}/\mathbf{k}. Then we deduce that each strongly ambiguous class of k/Q(i)\mathbf{k}/\mathbb{Q}(i) capitulates already in k(∗)\mathbf{k}^{(*)}, which is smaller than the relative genus field (k/Q(i))∗(\mathbf{k}/\mathbb{Q}(i))^*.

On some metabelian 2-group whose abelianization is of type (2, 2, 2) and applications

Let GG be some metabelian 22-group satisfying the condition G/G′≃Z/2Z×Z/2Z×Z/2ZG/G'\simeq \mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}\times\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}\times\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}. In this paper, we construct all the subgroups of GG of index 22 or 44, we give the abelianization types of these subgroups and we compute the kernel of the transfer map. Then we apply these results to study the capitulation problem of the 22-ideal classes of some fields k\mathbf{k} satisfying the condition Gal(k2(2)/k)≃G\mathrm{G}al(\mathbf{k}_2^{(2)}/\mathbf{k})\simeq G, where k2(2)\mathbf{k}_2^{(2)} is the second Hilbert 22-class field of k\mathbf{k}.

On the strongly ambiguous classes of k/Q(−1)k/Q(\sqrt{-1}) where k=Q(2p1p2,−1)k= Q(\sqrt{2p_1p_2},\sqrt{-1})

We construct an infinite family of imaginary bicyclic biquadratic number fields kk with the 2-ranks of their 2-class groups are ≥3\geq3, whose strongly ambiguous classes of k/Q(i)k/Q(i) capitulate in the absolute genus field k(∗)k^{(*)}, which is strictly included in the relative genus field (k/Q(i))∗(k/Q(i))^* and we study the capitulation of the 22-ideal classes of kk in its quadratic extensions included in k(∗)k^{(*)}.

On the strongly ambiguous classes of some biquadratic number fields

We study the capitulation of ideal classes in an infinite family of imaginary bicyclic biquadratic number fields consisting of fields k=Q(2pq,i)k =Q(\sqrt{2pq}, i), where i=−1i=\sqrt{-1} and p≡−q≡1(mod4)p\equiv -q\equiv1 \pmod 4 are different primes. For each of the three quadratic extensions K/kK/k inside the absolute genus field k(∗)k^{(*)} of kk, we compute the capitulation kernel of K/kK/k. Then we deduce that each strongly ambiguous class of k/Q(i)k/Q(i) capitulates already in k(∗)k^{(*)}, which is smaller than the relative genus field (k/Q(i))∗\left(k/Q(i)\right)^*.

Structure of Gal(k2(2)/k)Gal(k_2^{(2)}/k) for some fields k=Q(2p1p2,−1)k=Q(\sqrt{ 2p_1p_2}, \sqrt{-1})

Let p1≡p2≡5(mod8)p_1 \equiv p_2 \equiv5\pmod8 be different primes. Put i=−1i=\sqrt{-1} and d=2p1p2d=2p_1p_2, then the bicyclic biquadratic field k=Q(d,−1)k=Q(\sqrt{d}, \sqrt{-1}) has an elementary abelian 2-class group of rank 33. In this paper we determine the nilpotency class, the coclass, the generators and the structure of the non-abelian Galois group Gal(k2(2)/k)\mathrm{Gal}(k_2^{(2)}/k) of the second Hilbert 2-class field k2(2)k_2^{(2)} of kk. We study the capitulation problem of the 2-classes of kk in its seven unramified quadratic extensions KiK_i and in its seven unramified bicyclic biquadratic extensions LiL_i.

Sur l'équation X2−ε2εp1p2ε2p1p2=0X^2-\varepsilon_2\varepsilon_{p_1p_2}\varepsilon_{2p_1p_2}=0

Let p1≡p2≡5(mod8)p_1\equiv p_2\equiv5 \pmod8 be prime numbers such that (p1p2)=−1\left(\frac{p_1}{p_2}\right)=-1. Let L=Q(2,p1p2)\mathbb{L}=Q(\sqrt2, \sqrt{p_1p_2}) Our goal is to resolve the equation X2−ε2εp1p2ε2p1p2=0X^2-\varepsilon_2\varepsilon_{p_1p_2}\varepsilon_{2p_1p_2}=0 in L\mathbb{L}, where εj\varepsilon_j are fundamental units of real quadratic subfields of Q(2,p1p2)Q(\sqrt2, \sqrt{p_1p_2}).

Sur la capitulation des 2-classes d'idéaux du corps Q(\sqrt{2p_1p_2}, i)

Let p1p_1 and p2p_2 be two primes such that p1≡p2≡1(mod4)p_1\equiv p_2\equiv1 \pmod4 and at least two of the three elements {(2p1),(2p2),(p1p2)}\{(\frac{2}{p_1}), (\frac{2}{p_2}), (\frac{p_1}{p_2})\} are equal to -1. Put i=−1i=\sqrt{-1}, d=2p1p2d=2p_1p_2 and k=Q(d,i)k =Q(\sqrt{d}, i). Let k2(1)k_2^{(1)} be the Hilbert 2-class field of kk and k(∗)=Q(p1,p2,2,i)k^{(*)}=Q(\sqrt{p_1},\sqrt{p_2},\sqrt 2, i) be its genus field. Let Ck,2C_{k,2} denote the 2-part of the class group of kk. The unramified abelian extensions of kk are K1=k(p1)K_1=k(\sqrt{p_1}), K2=k(p2)K_2=k(\sqrt{p_2}), K3=k(2)K_3=k(\sqrt{2}) and k(∗)k^{(*)}. Our goal is to study the capitulation problem of the 2-classes of kk in these four extensions.

On the rank of the 22-class group of Q(p,q,−1)\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{p}, \sqrt{q},\sqrt{-1})

Let dd be a square-free integer, k=Q(d, i)\mathbf{k}=\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt d,\,i) and i=−1i=\sqrt{-1}. Let k1(2)\mathbf{k}_1^{(2)} be the Hilbert 22-class field of k\mathbf{k}, k2(2)\mathbf{k}_2^{(2)} be the Hilbert 22-class field of k1(2)\mathbf{k}_1^{(2)} and G=Gal(k2(2)/k)G=\mathrm{Gal}(\mathbf{k}_2^{(2)}/\mathbf{k}) be the Galois group of k2(2)/k\mathbf{k}_2^{(2)}/\mathbf{k}. Our goal is to give necessary and sufficient conditions to have GG metacyclic in the case where d=pqd=pq, with pp and qq are primes such that p≡1(mod8)p\equiv 1\pmod 8 and q≡5(mod8)q\equiv 5\pmod 8 or p≡1(mod8)p\equiv 1\pmod 8 and q≡3(mod4)q\equiv 3\pmod 4.

Principalization of 22-class groups of type (2,2,2)(2,2,2) of biquadratic fields $\mathbb{Q}\left(\sqrt{\strut p_1p_2q},\sqrt{\strut -1}\right)$

Let p1≡p2≡−q≡1(mod4)p_1\equiv p_2\equiv -q\equiv1 \pmod4 be different primes such that (2p1)=(2p2)=(p1q)=(p2q)=−1\displaystyle\left(\frac{2}{p_1}\right)= \displaystyle\left(\frac{2}{p_2}\right)=\displaystyle\left(\frac{p_1}{q}\right)=\displaystyle\left(\frac{p_2}{q}\right)=-1. Put d=p1p2qd=p_1p_2q and i=−1i=\sqrt{-1}, then the bicyclic biquadratic field k=Q(d,i){k}=\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d},i) has an elementary abelian 22-class group, Cl2(k)\mathbf{C}l_2(k), of rank 33. In this paper, we study the principalization of the 22-classes of k{k} in its fourteen unramified abelian extensions Kj\mathbb{K}_j and Lj\mathbb{L}_j within k2(1){k}_2^{(1)}, that is the Hilbert 22-class field of k{k}. We determine the nilpotency class, the coclass, generators and the structure of the metabelian Galois group G=Gal(L/k)G=\mathrm{Gal}(\mathbb{L}/{k}) of the second Hilbert 2-class field k2(2){k}_2^{(2)} of k{k}. Additionally, the abelian type invariants of the groups Cl2(Kj)\mathbf{C}l_2(\mathbb{K}_j) and Cl2(Lj)\mathbf{C}l_2(\mathbb{L}_j) and the length of the 22-class tower of k{k} are given.
