Observation of the bands with $d_{xy}$ orbital character near the Fermi level in NdFeAs$_{1-x}$P$_{x}$O$_{0.9}$F$_{0.1}$ using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy

We studied the band structure of NdFeAs$_{1-x}$P$_{x}$O$_{0.9}$F$_{0.1}$ ($x$ = 0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6) using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurements. Two of the hole bands, $α_1$ $(d_{xz})$ and $α_3$ $(d_{z^2})$, were observed at the Brillouin zone center in the $P$-polarized light configuration, while the other two hole bands, $α_2$ $(d_{yz})$ and $γ$ $(d_{xy})$, were observed in the $S$-polarized alternative. The observed $γ$ band shifts downwards as $x$ increases, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction for the change in bond angle of As/P-Fe-As/P. Furthermore, a small amount of the $d_{xy}$ orbital component was observed at the same binding energy as that of the top of the $α_1$ band, thus indicating the band reconstruction of the originally degenerate $α_1$ and $α_2$ $(d_{xz}/d_{yz})$ bands by the unoccupied $d_{xy}$ band. The change in the energy level of the $α_1$ band top with $d_{xy}$ orbital character is accompanied by a $T_{c}$ upturn at $0.2 < x < 0.4$. The $T_{c}$ continues to increase as the $α_1$ band shifts downward, crossing the Fermi level. The incipient band with the $d_{xy}$ orbital character on its top could be an important ingredient for high $T_{c}$ 1111-type iron-based superconductors.

Enhancement of Superconducting Transition Temperature Due to Antiferromagnetic Spin Fluctuations in Iron-pnictides LaFe(As_{1-x}P_x)(O_{1-y}F_y) : 31P-NMR Studies

Systematic P-NMR studies on LaFe(As_{1-x}P_x)(O_{1-y}F_y) with y=0.05 and 0.1 have revealed that the antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations (AFMSFs) at low energies are markedly enhanced around x=0.6 and 0.4, respectively, and as a result, Tc exhibits respective peaks at 24 K and 27 K against the P-substitution for As. This result demonstrates that the AFMSFs are responsible for the increase in Tc for LaFe(As_{1-x}P_x)(O_{1-y}F_y) as a primary mediator of the Cooper pairing. From a systematic comparison of AFMSFs with a series of (La_{1-z}Y_z)FeAsO_δ compounds in which Tc reaches 50 K for z=0.95, we remark that a moderate development of AFMSFs causes the Tc to increase up to 50 K under the condition that the local lattice parameters of FeAs tetrahedron approaches those of the regular tetrahedron. We propose that the T_c of Fe-pnictides exceeding 50 K is maximized under an intimate collaboration of the AFMSFs and other factors originating from the optimization of the local structure.

Evolution of the Phase Diagram of LaFeP$_{1-x}$As$_{x}$O$_{1-y}$F$_{y}$ ($y$ = 0 -- 0.1)

P/As-substitution effects on the transport properties of polycrystalline LaFeP$_{1-x}$As$_{x}$O$_{1-y}$F$_{y}$ with $x$ = 0 -- 1.0 and $y$ = 0 -- 0.1 have been studied. In the F-free samples ($y$ = 0), a new superconducting (SC) dome with a maximum $T_{c}$ of 12 K is observed around $x$ = 0 -- 0.3. This is separated from another SC dome with $T_{c}$ $\sim$10 K at $x$ = 0.6 -- 0.8 by an antiferromagnetic region ($x$ = 0.3 -- 0.6), giving a two-dome feature in the $T_{c}-x$ phase diagram. As $y$ increases, the two SC domes merge together, changing to a double peak structure at $y$ = 0.05 and a single dome at $y$ = 0.1. This proves the presence of two different Fermi surface states in this system.
