Ground state many-body quantum entanglement of frustrated transverse field models on square lattice

We study the ground state (GS) many-body quantum entanglement of two different transverse field models on a quasi-2D square lattice relevant to a Hydrogen-bonded crystal, i.e, squaric acid. We measure the genuine multipartite qubit-entanglement ($C_{\text{GME}}(ψ)$) of the ground state of very generic models with all the possible cases of exchange couplings considered under defect free and one lattice site defect conditions. Our results show that creation, decay of multipartite entanglement occur for different combinations of coupling strength. When frustration is maximum the system exhibits a peak in concurrence after a gradual increase from disentangled state at zero field followed by an asymptotic decay at large fields. In contrast, for a marginally frustrated (degenerate) case though the concurrence shows a peak, the entanglement is non-zero and large at zero fields. Our results discuss the sensitivity of the qubit-entanglement with underlying GS of varying degree of degeneracy. We conclude that despite of their similarities in ground state properties, yet we see a difference in the degree of entanglement between the two models. We conjecture this result could be due to the difference in the amount of degeneracy and the quantum ground states of both Hamiltonians that could dictate the results even in the thermodynamic limit.

Transport coherence in a time-asymmetric rocked ratchet model

We study the dynamics of an over damped Brownian particle in a saw tooth potential in the presence of a temporal asymmetric driving force. We observe that in the deterministic limit, the transport coherence, which is determined by a dimensionless quantity called Peclet number, $Pe$ is quite high for larger spatial asymmetry in the ratchet potential. For all the regime of parameter space of this model, $Pe$ follows the nature of current like Stokes efficiency. Diffusion as a function of amplitude of drive shows a minimum exactly at which the current shows a maximum. Unlike the previously studied models, the $Pe$ as a function of temperature shows a peaking behavior and the coherence in transport decreases for high temperatures. In the nonadiabatic regime, the $Pe$ as a function of amplitude of drive decreases and the peak gets broader as a result the transport becomes unreliable.

Persistent currents in absence of magnetic field in graphene nanorings: The ambiguous role of inter valley scattering

Persistent currents can arise in normal-metal rings due to a magnetic flux threading the ring in equilibrium. However, can persistent currents arise in absence of magnetic flux in the same normal-metal rings? Yes they can but in a non-equilibrium set-up. This is known as current magnification. In this work we show that current magnification can be seen in graphene nanorings. Further, graphene can have electrons polarized with a valley quantum number. Electron scattering between valleys can have a non-trivial effect on these persistent currents including inducing a sign change and generating them for parameters where none existed to begin with.
