Collider signatures of dark CP-violation

We study an extension of the Standard Model (SM) in which two copies of the SM-Higgs doublet which do not acquire a vacuum expectation value, and hence are {\it inert}, are added to the scalar sector. The lightest particle from the inert sector, which is protected from decaying to SM particles through the conservation of a Z2Z_2 symmetry, is a viable dark matter candidate. We allow for CP-violation in this extended dark sector and evaluate the ZZZZZZ vertex and its CP-violating form factor in several benchmark scenarios. We provide collider signatures of this dark CP-violation in the form of potentially observable asymmetries and cross sections for the ffˉ→Z∗→ZZf\bar f\to Z^*\to ZZ process at both leptonic and hadronic machines.

Lepton collider signatures of dark CP violation

We study an extension of the Standard Model (SM) in which two copies of the SM Higgs doublet are added to the scalar sector. These extra doublets do not develop a vacuum expectation value, hence, they are \textit{inert}. This essentially leads to a 3-Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM) with 2 inert and 1 active scalar doublets, which we denote as I(2+1)HDM. We allow for CP-violation in the \textit{inert} sector, where the lightest \textit{inert} state is protected from decaying to SM particles through the conservation of a Z2Z_2 symmetry, so that it is a Dark Matter (DM) candidate. For this scenario, we identify a smoking gun signature of dark CP-violation in the form of production thresholds of pairs of \textit{inert} neutral Higgs bosons at an e+e−e^+e^- collider.

CP violating scalar Dark Matter

We study an extension of the Standard Model (SM) in which two copies of the SM scalar SU(2)SU(2) doublet which do not acquire a Vacuum Expectation Value (VEV), and hence are \textit{inert}, are added to the scalar sector. We allow for CP-violation in the \textit{inert} sector, where the lightest \textit{inert} state is protected from decaying to SM particles through the conservation of a Z2Z_2 symmetry. The lightest neutral particle from the \textit{inert} sector, which has a mixed CP-charge due to CP-violation, is hence a Dark Matter (DM) candidate. We discuss the new regions of DM relic density opened up by CP-violation, and compare our results to the CP-conserving limit and the Inert Doublet Model (IDM). We constrain the parameter space of the CP-violating model using recent results from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and DM direct and indirect detection experiments.

Decays h→γγ, γZh\to γγ, \, γZ in the Two Higgs Doublet Model Type III

We study the enhancement of the branching ratios of the decays h→γγ, γZh \to γγ, \, γZ in the Two Higgs Doublet Model Type III, assuming a four-zero Yukawa Texture and a general Higgs potential. We show that these processes are very sensitive to the flavor pattern of the Yukawa texture and the structure of the triple coupling hH±H∓h H^\pm H^\mp from the Higgs potential. We can accomodate the parameters of the model such that one can obtain the h→γγh \toγγ rates reported by the LHC and at the same time we can get a h→γZ h \to γZ fraction larger than in the SM and within experimental reach. The possibility of obtaining a light charged Higgs boson within the ensuing parameter space and compatible with current experimental measurements is also presented.

Flavor Physics constrains on a Z5\mathbb{Z}_5-3HDM

We present the general behavior of the scalar sector in a Three Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM) with a Z5\mathbb{Z}_5 flavor symmetry. There are regions of the parameters space where it is possible to get a SM-like Higgs boson with the other Higgs bosons being heavier, thus decoupled from the SM, and without relevant contributions to any flavor observables. There are however other more interesting regions of parameter space with a light charged Higgs (mH±∼m_{H^\pm} \sim 150 GeV) that are consistent with experimental results and whose phenomenological consequences could be interesting. We present a numerical analysis of the main BB-physics constraints and show that the model can correctly describe the current experimental data.

Impact of a four-zero Yukawa texture on h→γγh\to γγ and γZγZ in the framework of the Two Higgs Doublet Model Type III

We study the substantial enhancement, with respect to the corresponding Standard Model rates, that can be obtained for the branching ratios of the decay channels h→γγh \to γγ and h→γZh\to γZ within the framework of the Two Higgs Doublet Model Type III, assuming a four-zero Yukawa texture and a general Higgs potential. We show that these processes are very sensitive to the flavor pattern entering the Yukawa texture and to the triple coupling structure of the Higgs potential, both of which impact onto the aforementioned decays. We can accommodate the parameters of the model in such a way to obtain the h→γγh \to γγ rates reported by the Large Hadron Collider and at the same time we get a h→γZh\to γZ fraction much larger than in the Standard Model, indeed within experimental reach. We present some scenarios where this phenomenology is realized for spectrum configurations that are consistent with current constraints. We also discuss the possibility of obtaining a light charged Higgs boson compatible with all such measurements, thereby serving the purpose of providing a hallmark signal of the scenario considered.

Implications of a nonvanishing ZγγZ γγ vertex on the H→γγγH\to γγγ decay

The Z→γγZ\to γγ and H→γγγH\to γγγ decays are strictly forbidden in the Standard Model, but they can be induced by theories that violate Lorentz symmetry or the CPT theorem. By assuming that a nonvanishing ZγγZγγ vertex is induced in some context of new physics, and by analyzing the reaction H→γZ∗→γγγH\to γZ^*\to γγγ in the ZZ resonance, we obtain an estimation for the branching ratio of the H→γγγH\to γγγ decay. Specifically, it is found that BR(H→γγγ)≲BR(H→γZ)BRExp(Z→γγ)BR(H\to γγγ)\lesssim BR(H\to γZ)BR_{Exp}(Z\to γγ), which is of the order of 10−710^{-7}.

The Standard Model with one universal extra dimension

Effects of universal extra dimensions on Standard Model observables first arise at the one-loop level. The quantization of this class of theories is therefore essential in order to perform predictions. A comprehensive study of the Standard Model defined in a space-time manifold with one universal extra dimension, compactified on the oribifold S1/Z2S^1/Z_2, is presented. The fact that the four-dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory is subject to two types of gauge transformations is stressed and its quantization under the basis of the BRST symmetry discussed. A SUC(3)xSUL(2)xUY(1)SU_C(3) x SU_L(2) x U_Y(1)-covariant gauge-fixing procedure for the Kaluza-Klein excitations is introduced. The connection between gauge and mass eigenstates fields is established in an exact way. An exhaustive list of the explicit expressions for all physical couplings induced by the Yang-Mills, Currents, Higgs, and Yukawa sectors is presented. The one-loop renormalizability of the standard Green's functions, which implies that the Standard Model observables do not depend on a cutoff scale, is stressed.

Implications of Yukawa texture in the charged Higgs boson phenomenology within 2HDM-III

We discuss the implications of assuming a four-zero Yukawa texture for the properties of the charged Higgs boson within the context of the general 2-Higgs Doublet Model of Type III. We present the charged Higgs boson couplings with heavy quarks and the resulting pattern for its decays, including the decay H+→W+γH^+ \to W^+ γ at 1-loop level. The parameters chosen can still avoid the B→XsγB \to X_s γ constraint, the perturbativity and ρ0ρ_0 bound. Also, we present the constraints of B0−Bˉ0 B0-\bar{B}0 mixing and of the radiative corrections to the ZbbˉZ b \bar{b} vertex in the regime small tan⁡β \tan β. The production of charged Higgs bosons is also sensitive to the modifications of its couplings, so that we also evaluate the resulting effects on `direct' cbˉ→H++c.c.c\bar{b}\to H^++c. c. and `indirect' qqˉ,gg→tˉbH++c.c.q\bar q,gg\to \bar t b H^++c. c. production. Significant scope exists at the Large Hadron Collider for several H±H^\pm production and decay channels combined to enable one to distinguish between such a model and alternative 2-Higgs doublet scenarios.

Implications of Yukawa Textures in the decay H+→W+γH^+ \to W^+ γ within the 2HDM-III

We discuss the implications of assuming a four-zero Yukawa texture for the charged Higgs decay H+→W+γH^+ \to W^+ γ at one-loop level, within the context of the general 2-Higgs Doublet Model of Type III. We begin by presenting a detailed analysis of the charged Higgs boson couplings with heavy quarks and the resulting effects on its decays. In particular, we present the possible enhancement of the decay H+→W+γH^+ \to W^+ γ, whose branching ratio could be of the order ∼10−1\sim 10^{-1}, for charged Higgs mass of the order 180 GeV. These parameters can still avoid the B→XsγB \to X_s γ constraint and the perturbativity bound. The production of charged Higgs bosons is also sensitive to the modifications of its couplings, and we evaluate the events rates at the LHC, including the `direct' cbˉ→H++c.c.c\bar{b}\to H^++c. c. and `indirect' qqˉ,gg→tˉbH++c.c.q\bar q, gg \to \bar t b H^++c. c. production channels. We get an event rate of order 60 (120) for `direct' (`indirect') production reaction, and including decay H+→W+γH^+ \to W^+ γ in the final state, with an integrated luminosity of 10510^5 pb−1pb^{-1}.
