Light Behaviors around Black Holes in M-theory

We study the deflection angle and the trajectory of the light rays around black holes in M-theory scenarios. Using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, we first compute and examine the deflection angle of the light rays near four and seven-dimensional AdS black holes obtained from the M-theory compactifications on the real spheres on $S^7$ and $S^4$, respectively. We discuss the effect of the M-theory brane number and the rotating parameter on such an optical quantity. We then investigate the trajectories of the light rays using the equation of motion associated with $M2$ and $M5$ branes.

Light Deflection Angle by Superentropic Black Holes

Motivated by recent works on light deflection and shadow behaviors on AdS geometries, we investigate the deflection angle of light rays by superentropic black holes. Taking appropriate approximations, we first obtain the involved expression. For large values of the impact parameter, we get a specific value being zero for ordinary black holes without AdS backgrounds. Then, we examine and analyze such an optical quantity by providing graphical discussions in terms of a bounded region of the moduli space required by superentropic black hole conditions. Concretely, we study the deflection angle aspects by varying the black hole mass being fixed in the previous findings.

Light Trajectories and Thermal Shadows casted by Black Holes in a Cavity

We explore the shadows and the photon rings casted by black holes in cavity. Placing the observer inside such an isothermal background, we examine the influence of the cavity temperature T_{cav} and the charge Q on the involved optical aspect. After studying the effect of the horizon radius by varying Q, we investigate the thermal behaviors of the black hole shadows in a cavity. For fixed charge values, we find that the shadow radius r_s increases by decreasing T_{cav}. Varying such a temperture, we discuss the associated energy emission rate. After that, we show that the curves in the r_s-T_{cav} plane share similarities with the G-T curves of the Anti de Sitter (AdS) black holes. Then, we study the trajectory of the light rays casted by black holes in a cavity. We further observe that the light trajectory behaviors are different than the ones of the non rotating black holes due to the cavity effect. Finally, we provide evidence for the existence of an universal ratio defined in terms of the photon sphere radius and the impact parameter. Concretely, we obtain a optical ratio \frac{b_{sp}}{r_{sp}} \sim \sqrt 3.

Superentropic Black Hole Shadows in Arbitrary Dimensions

We investigate the shadow behaviors of the superentropic black holes in arbitrary dimensions. Using the Hamilton-Jacobi mechanism, we first obtain the associated null geodesic equations of motion. By help of a spheric stereographic projection, we discuss the shadows in terms of one-dimensional real curves. Fixing the mass parameter m, we obtain certain shapes being remarkably different than four dimensional geometric configurations. We then study theirs behaviors by varying the black hole mass parameter. We show that the shadows undergo certain geometric transitions depending on the spacetime dimension. In terms of a critical value mc, we find that the four dimensional shadows exhibit three configurations being the D-shape, the cardioid and the naked singularity associated with m > mc, m = mc and m < mc, respectively. We reveal that the D-shape passes to the naked singularity via a critical curve called cardioid. In higher dimensions, however, we show that such transitional behaviors are removed.

Thermodynamic and Optical Behaviors of Quintessential Hayward-AdS Black Holes

Motivated by Dark Energy (DE) activities, we study certain physical behaviors of the quintessential Hayward-AdS black holes in four dimensions. We generalize some physical properties of the ordinary Hayward AdS black holes without the dark sector. We elaborate a study in terms of the new quantities $c$ and $ω_q$ parametrizing the dark sector moduli space. We investigate the effect of such parameters on certain thermodynamic and optical aspects. To show the quintessential thermodynamic behaviors, we first reconsider the critical properties of ordinary solutions. We find that the equation of state predicts a universal ratio given by $χ_0=\frac{P_cv_c}{T_c}=\frac{27-3\sqrt{6}}{50}$, which is different than the universal one appearing for Van der Waals fluids. Considering the quintessential solutions and taking certain values of the DE state parameter $ω_q$, we observe that the new ratio depends on the DE scalar field intensity $c$. In certain regions of the moduli space, we show that this ratio can be factorized using two terms describing the absence and the presence of the dark sector. Then, we analyze also the DE effect on the heat engines. For the optical aspect, we study the influence of DE on the shadows using one-dimensional real curves. Finally, we discuss the associated energy emission rate, using the dark sector.

Deflection Light Behaviors by AdS Black Holes

We investigate the behavior of the deflection of light rays by charged and rotating AdS black holes using the Gauss-Bonnet formalism. Taking weak field approximations and certain appropriate limits associated with AdS geometries, we compute and analyze such an optical quantity by varying the involved moduli space parameters. First, we study the charge and the AdS radius effects on the deflection angle of RN-AdS black holes. For small values of the impact parameter $b$, we find that the charge effect is relevant. Precisely, it decreases the deflection angle, while the AdS background one is not. For large values of $b$, however, these optical behaviors have been inverted and the deflection angle becomes an increasing function of the charge. In this way, the cosmological constant effect is remarked to be relevant showing linear variations of the deflection angle. Varying the charge, we find a critical impact parameter value $b_{c}$ where the charge effect is inverted. For rotating solutions, we show that the spinning parameter still decreases the deflection angle without any changing behavior observed in the charge effect. Evincing of the cosmological constant, we recover known results corresponding to charged and rotating ordinary black hole solutions. Examining the plasma effect, we reveal that the deflection angle keeps the same behavior being a decreasing function in terms of the frequency ratio.

Superentropic AdS Black Hole Shadows

We study shadow aspects of superentropic black holes in four dimensions. Using Hamilton-Jacobi formalism, we first get the null geodesic equations. In the celestial coordinate framework relying on fixed positions of observers, we investigate the shadow behaviors in terms of the mass and the cosmological scale variation parameters. Among others, we obtain ellipse shaped geometries contrary to usual black hole solutions. Modifying the ordinary relations describing geometrical observables, we discuss the size and the shape deformation parameters of these non-trivial geometric forms. Due to horizonless limits associated with certain mass values, we explore the shadow of the naked singularity of such black holes.

$f(R)$ Gravity Effects on Charged Accelerating AdS Black Holes using Holographic Tools

We investigate numerically $f(R)$ gravity effects on certain AdS/CFT tools including holographic entanglement entropy and two-point correlation functions for a charged single accelerated Anti-de Sitter black hole in four dimensions. We find that both holographic entanglement entropy and two-point correlation functions decrease by increasing acceleration parameter $A$, matching perfectly with literature. Taking into account the $f(R)$ gravity parameter $η$, the decreasing scheme of the holographic quantities persist. However, we observe a transition-like point where the behavior of the holographic tools change. Two regions meeting at such a transit-like point are shown up. In such a nomination, the first one is associated with slow accelerating black holes while the second one corresponds to a fast accelerating solution. In the first region, the holographic entanglement entropy and two-point correlation functions decrease by increasing the $η$ parameter. However, the behavioral situation is reversed in the second one. Moreover, a cross-comparison between the entropy and the holographic entanglement entropy is presented providing another counter-example showing that such two quantities do not exhibit similar behaviors.

Ehrenfest Scheme of Higher Dimensional Topological AdS Black Holes in The Third Order Lovelock-Born-Infeld Gravity

Interpreting the cosmological constant as a thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate quantity as a thermodynamic volume, we reconsider the investigation of P-V critical behaviors of (1+n)-dimensional topological AdS black holes in Lovelock-Born-Infeld gravity. In particular, we give an explicit expression of the universal number χ=\frac{P_c v_c}{T_c} in terms of the space dimension $n$. Then, we examine the phase transitions at the critical points of such topological black holes for 6 \leq n \leq 11 as required by the physical condition of the thermodynamical quantities. More precisely, the Ehrenfest equations have been checked revealing that the black hole system undergoes a second phase transition at the critical points.

Fractional Quantum Hall Filling Factors from String Theory using Toric Geometry

Using toric Cartan matrices as abelian gauge charges, we present a class of stringy fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) producing some recent experimental observed filling factor values. More precisely, we derive the corresponding Chern-Simons type models from M-theory compactified on four complex dimensional hyper-Kähler manifolds X^4. These manifolds, which are viewed as target spaces of a particular N=4 sigma model in two dimensions, are identified with the cotangent bundles over intersecting 2-dimensional toric varieties V_i^2 according to toric Cartan matrices. Exploring results of string dualities, the presented FQHE can be obtained from D6-banes wrapping on such intersecting toric varieties interacting with R-R gauge fields. This string theory realization provides a geometric interpretation of the filling factors in terms of toric and Euler characteristic topological data of the compactified geometry. Concretely, explicit bilayer models are worked out in some details.

Maxwell's equal-area law for Gauss-Bonnet Anti-de Sitter black holes

Interpreting the cosmological constant Λas a thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate quantity as a thermodynamic volume, we study the Maxwell's equal area law of higher dimensional Gauss-Bonnet-AdS black holes in extended phase space. These black hole solutions critically behave like Van der Waals systems. It has been realized that below the critical temperature T_c the stable equilibrium is violated. We show through calculations that the critical behaviors for the uncharged black holes only appear in d=5. For the charged case, we analyse solutions in d = 5 and d = 6 separately and find that, up to some constrains, the critical behaviors only appear in the spherical topology. Using the Maxwell's construction, we also find the isobar line for which the liquid-gas-like phases coexist.

On Heat Properties of AdS Black Holes in Higher Dimensions

We investigate the heat properties of AdS Black Holes in higher dimensions. We consider the study of the corresponding thermodynamical properties including the heat capacity explored in the determination of the black hole stability. In particular, we compute the heat latent. To overcome the instability problem, the Maxwell construction, in the (T,S)-plane, is elaborated. This method is used to modify the the Hawking-Page phase structure by removing the negative heat capacity regions. Then, we discuss the thermodynamic cycle and the heat engines using the way based on the extraction of the work from a black hole solution.

On Thermodynamics of AdS Black Holes in M-Theory

Motivated by a recent work on asymptotically AdS_4 black holes in M-theory, we investigate the thermodynamics and thermodynamical geometry of AdS black holes from M2 and M5-branes. Concretely, we consider AdS black holes in AdS_{p+2}\times S^{11-p-2}, where p=2,5 by interpreting the number of M2 (and M5-branes) as a thermodynamical variable. We study the corresponding phase transition to examine their stabilities by calculating and discussing various thermodynamical quantities including the chemical potential. Then, we compute the thermodynamical curvatures from the Quevedo metric for M2 and M5-branes geometries to reconsider the stability of such black objects. The Quevedo metric singularities recover similar stability results provided by the phase transition program.

Qubits from Adinkra Graph Theory via Colored Toric Geometry

We develop a new approach to deal with qubit information systems using toric geometry and its relation to Adinkra graph theory. More precisely, we link three different subjects namely toric geometry, Adinkras and quantum information theory. This one to one correspondence may be explored to attack qubit system problems using geometry considered as a powerful tool to understand modern physics including string theory. Concretely, we examine in some details the cases of one, two, and three qubits, and we find that they are associated with \bf CP^1, \bf CP^1\times CP^1 and \bf CP^1\times CP^1\times CP^1 toric varieties respectively. Using a geometric procedure referred to as colored toric geometry, we show that the qubit physics can be converted into a scenario handling toric data of such manifolds by help of Adinkra graph theory. Operations on toric information can produce universal quantum gates.

Critical Behaviors of 3D Black Holes with a Scalar Hair

The principal focus of the present work concerns the critical behaviors of a class of three dimensional black holes with a scalar field hair. Since the cosmological constant is viewed as a thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate quantity as a volume, we examine such properties in terms of two parameters B and a. The latters are related to the scalar field and the angular momentum respectively. In particular, we give the equation of state predicting a critical universal number depending on the (B,a) moduli space. In the vanishing limit of the B parameter, we recover the usual perfect gas behavior appearing in the case of the non rotating BTZ black hole. We point out that in a generic region of the (B,a) moduli space, the model behaves like a Van der Waals system.

On Thermodynamics of 2d Black Holes in Brane Inflationary Potentials

Inspired from the inflation brane world cosmology, we study the thermodynamics of a black hole solution in two dimensional dilaton gravity with an arctangent potential background. We first derive the two dimensional black hole geometry, then we examine its asymptotic behaviors. More precisely, we find that such behaviors exhibit properties appearing in some known cases including the Anti de Sitter and the Schwarzchild black holes. Using the complex path method, we compute the Hawking radiation. The entropy function can be related to the value of the potential at the horizon.

Statistical Physics of 3D Hairy Black Holes

We investigate the statistical behaviors of 3D hairy black holes in the presence of a scalar field. The present study is made in terms of two relevant parameters: rotation parameter a and B parameter related to the scalar field. More precisely, we compute various statistical quantities including the partition function for non-charged and charged black hole solutions. Using a partition function calculation, we show that the probability is independent of a and B parameters.

On Thermodynamical Behaviors of Kerr-Newman AdS Black Holes

We reconsider the study of critical behaviors of Kerr-Newman AdS black holes in four dimensions. The study is made in terms of the moduli space parameterized by the charge Q and the rotation parameter a, relating the mass M of the black hole and its angular momentum J via the relation a=J/M. Specifically, we discuss such thermodynamical behaviors in the presence of a positive cosmological constant considered as a thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate quantity as a thermodynamic volume. The equation of state for a charged RN-AdS black hole predicts a critical universal number depending on the (Q,a) moduli space. In the vanishing limit of the a parameter, this prediction recovers the usual universal number in four dimensions. Then, we find the bounded regions of the moduli space allowing the consistency of the model with real thermodynamical variables.

On Mass Gap in Type IIB Quantum Hall Solitons

We discuss the mass gap in quantum Hall solitons (QHS) embedded in superstring theory. In particular, we give two holographic models which are obtained from D-brane configurations in type IIB superstring compactifications. The first one deals with the monolayered system in the D3/D7 brane set up. The second model corresponds to a multilayered system which is described by intersecting D5-branes wrapping a particular set of 3-cycles. In both models, we have shown that the mass gap is related to the filling factor.

On Thermodynamics of AdS Black Holes in Arbitrary Dimensions

Considering the cosmological constant $Λ$ as a thermodynamic pressure and its conjugate quantity as a thermodynamic volume as proposed in Kubiznak and Mann (2012), we discuss the critical behavior of charged AdS black hole in arbitrary dimensions $d$. In particular, we present a comparative study in terms of the spacetime dimension $d$ and the displacement of critical points controlling the transition between the small and the large black holes. Such behaviors vary nicely in terms of $d$. Among our result in this context consists in showing that the equation of state for a charged RN-AdS black hole predicts an universal number given by $\frac{2d-5}{4d-8}$. The three dimensional solution is also discussed.

Quiver Gauge theories from Lie Superalgebras

We discuss quiver gauge models with matter fields based on Dynkin diagrams of Lie superalgebra structures. We focus on A(1,0) case and we find first that it can be related to intersecting complex cycles with genus $g$. Using toric geometry, A(1,0) quivers are analyzed in some details and it is shown that A(1,0) can be used to incorporate fundamental fields to a product of two unitary factor groups. We expect that this approach can be applied to other kinds of Lie superalgebras;

Embedding Fractional Quantum Hall Solitons in M-theory Compactifications

We engineer U(1)^n Chern-Simons type theories describing fractional quantum Hall solitons (QHS) in 1+2 dimensions from M-theory compactified on eight dimensional hyper-Kähler manifolds as target space of N=4 sigma model. Based on M-theory/Type IIA duality, the systems can be modeled by considering D6-branes wrapping intersecting Hirzebruch surfaces F_0's arranged as ADE Dynkin Diagrams and interacting with higher dimensional R-R gauge fields. In the case of finite Dynkin quivers, we recover well known values of the filling factor observed experimentally including Laughlin, Haldane and Jain series.

On Fermion Mass Hirerachies in MSSM-like Quiver Models with Stringy Corrections

Using instanton effects, we discuss the problem of fermion mass hierarchies in an MSSM-like Type IIA orientifolded model with U(3)xSp(1)xU(1)xU(1) gauge symmetry obtained from intersecting D6-branes. In the corresponding four-stack quiver, the different scales of the generated superpotential couplings offer a partial solution to fermion mass hierarchies. Using the known data with neutrino masses m_{v_τ}\lesssim 2 eV, we give the magnitudes of the relevant scales.

Brane Realizations of Quantum Hall Solitons and Kac-Moody Lie Algebras

Using quiver gauge theories in (1+2)-dimensions, we give brane realizations of a class of Quantum Hall Solitons (QHS) embedded in Type IIA superstring on the ALE spaces with exotic singularities. These systems are obtained by considering two sets of wrapped D4-branes on 2-spheres. The space-time on which the QHS live is identified with the world-volume of D4-branes wrapped on a collection of intersecting 2-spheres arranged as extended Dynkin diagrams of Kac-Moody Lie algebras. The magnetic source is given by an extra orthogonal D4-brane wrapping a generic 2-cycle in the ALE spaces. It is shown as well that data on the representations of Kac-Moody Lie algebras fix the filling factor of the QHS. In case of finite Dynkin diagrams, we recover results on QHS with integer and fractional filling factors known in the literature. In case of hyperbolic bilayer models, we obtain amongst others filling factors describing holes in the graphene.

Toric Calabi-Yau supermanifolds and mirror symmetry

We study mirror symmetry of supermanifolds constructed as fermionic extensions of compact toric varieties. We mainly discuss the case where the linear sigma A-model contains as many fermionic fields as there are U(1) factors in the gauge group. In the mirror super-Landau-Ginzburg B-model, focus is on the bosonic structure obtained after integrating out all the fermions. Our key observation is that there is a relation between the super-Calabi-Yau conditions of the A-model and quasi-homogeneity of the B-model, and that the degree of the associated superpotential in the B-model is given in terms of the determinant of the fermion charge matrix of the A-model.

Geometric Engineering of N=2 CFT_{4}s based on Indefinite Singularities: Hyperbolic Case

Using Katz, Klemm and Vafa geometric engineering method of $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric QFT$_{4}$s and results on the classification of generalized Cartan matrices of Kac-Moody (KM) algebras, we study the un-explored class of $\mathcal{N}=2$ CFT$_{4}$s based on \textit{indefinite} singularities. We show that the vanishing condition for the general expression of holomorphic beta function of $\mathcal{N}=2$ quiver gauge QFT$_{4}$s coincides exactly with the fundamental classification theorem of KM algebras. Explicit solutions are derived for mirror geometries of CY threefolds with \textit{% hyperbolic} singularities.

On N=1 gauge models from geometric engineering in M-theory

We study geometric engineering of four-dimensional N=1 gauge models from M-theory on a seven-dimensional manifold with G_2 holonomy. The manifold is constructed as a K3 fibration over a three-dimensional base space with ADE geometry. The resulting gauge theory is discussed in the realm of (p,q) webs. We discuss how the anomaly cancellation condition translates into a condition on the associated affine ADE Lie algebras.

On Non-Commutative Orbifolds of K3 Surfaces

Using the algebraic geometry method of Berenstein and Leigh for the construction of the toroidal orbifold (T^2 x T^2 x T^2) / (Z_2 x Z_2) with discrete torsion and considering local K3 surfaces, we present non-commutative aspects of the orbifolds of product of K3 surfaces. In this way, the ordinary complex deformation of K3 can be identified with the resolution of stringy singularities by non-commutative algebras using crossed products. We give representations and make some comments regarding the fractionation of branes. Illustrating examples are presented.
