Some automorphism groups are linear algebraic

Abstract

Consider a normal projective variety XX, a linear algebraic subgroup GG of Aut(XX), and the field KK of GG-invariant rational functions on XX. We show that the subgroup of Aut(XX) that fixes KK pointwise is linear algebraic. If KK has transcendence degree 11 over kk, then Aut(XX) is an algebraic group.
