Abstract

Let GG, HH be groups and κκ be a cardinal. A bijection f:G→Hf:G\to H is caled on asymorphism if, for any X∈[G]<κX\in[G]^{<κ}, Y∈[H]<κY\in[H]^{<κ}, there exist X′∈[G]<κX'\in[G]^{<κ}, Y′∈[H]<κY'\in[H]^{<κ} such that for all x∈Gx\in G and y∈Hy\in H, we have f(Xx)⊆Y′f(x)f(Xx)\subseteq Y'f(x), f−1(Yy)⊆X′f−1(y)f^{-1}(Yy)\subseteq X'f^{-1}(y). For a set SS, [S]<κ[S]^{<κ} denotes the set {S′⊆S:∣S′∣<κ}\{S'\subseteq S: |S'|<κ\}. Let κκ and γγ be cardinals such that ℵ0<κ≤γ\aleph_0<κ\leγ. We prove that any two Abelian groups of cardinality γγ are κκ-asymorphic, but the free group of rank γγ is not κκ-asymorphic to an Abelian group provided that either κ<γκ<γ or κ=γκ=γ and κκ is a singular cardinal. It is known [7] that if γ=κγ= κ and κκ is regular then any two groups of cardinality κκ are κκ-asymorphic.
