Complementary studies on N∗N^* from e+e−e^+e^-, pppp and ppˉp\bar p collisions

preprint2009arXivOpen access

Abstract

Complementary to the conventional experimental studies on N∗N^* from πNπN and γ(∗)Nγ^{(*)}N reactions, the e+e−e^+e^-, pppp and ppˉp\bar p collisions can give novel insights into these N∗N^* resonances. While the e+e−e^+e^- collisions through production and decay of vector charmonium ψψ provide a nice isospin filter for a simultaneously study of N∗N^*, Δ∗Δ^*, Λ∗Λ^*, Σ∗Σ^* and Ξ∗Ξ^*, the pppp collisions should be the best place for producing those Δ∗++Δ^{*++} with large coupling to ρ+pρ^+p though pp→nΔ∗++pp\to nΔ^{*++} reaction, and the ppˉp\bar p collisions should be the best place for looking for those N∗N^* with large coupling to σNσN.
