Blocks of small defect

Abstract

Let GG be a finite solvable group, let pp be a prime such that p≥5p \geq 5 and Op(G)=1O_p(G)=1, and we denote ∣G∣p=pn|G|_p=p^n, then GG contains a block of defect less than or equal to ⌊3n5⌋\lfloor \frac {3n} 5 \rfloor. Let GG be a finite solvable group and let pap^a be the largest power of pp dividing χ(1)χ(1) for an irreducible character χχ of GG, we show that $|G:\bF(G)|_p \leq p^{3a}$ for p≥5p \geq 5.
