Variable-Length Wideband CSI Feedback via Loewner Interpolation and Deep Learning

In this paper, we propose a variable-length wideband channel state information (CSI) feedback scheme for Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) massive multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) systems in U6G band (6425MHz-7125MHz). Existing compressive sensing (CS)-based and deep learning (DL)- based schemes preprocess the channel by truncating it in the angular-delay domain. However, the energy leakage effect caused by the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) basis will be more serious and leads to a bottleneck in recovery accuracy when applied to wideband channels such as those in U6G. To solve this problem, we introduce the Loewner Interpolation (LI) framework which generates a set of dynamic bases based on the current CSI matrix, enabling highly efficient compression in the frequency domain. Then, the LI basis is further compressed in the spatial domain through a neural network. To achieve a flexible trade-off between feedback overhead and recovery accuracy, we design a rateless auto-encoder trained with tail dropout and a multi-objective learning schedule, supporting variable-length feedback with a singular model. Meanwhile, the codewords are ranked by importance, ensuring that the base station (BS) can still maintain acceptable reconstruction performance under limited feedback with tail erasures. Furthermore, an adaptive quantization strategy is developed for the feedback framework to enhance robustness. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme could achieve higher CSI feedback accuracy with less or equal feedback overhead, and improve spectral efficiency compared with baseline schemes.

Electrical and thermal transport in van der Waals magnets 2H-Mx_xTaS2_2 (M = Mn, Co)

We report a detailed study of electrical and thermal transport properties in 2H-Mx_xTaS2_2 (M = Mn, Co) magnets where M atoms are intercalated in the van der Waals gap. The intercalation induces ferromagentism with an easy-plane anisotropy in 2H-Mnx_xTaS2_2, but ferromagnetism with a strong uniaxial anisotropy in 2H-Co0.22_{0.22}TaS2_2, which finally evolves into a three-dimensional antiferromagnetism in 2H-Co0.34_{0.34}TaS2_2. Temperature-dependent electrical resistivity shows metallic behavior for all samples. Thermopower is negative in the whole temperature range for 2H-Cox_xTaS2_2, whereas the sign changes from negative to positive with increasing Mn for 2H-Mnx_xTaS2_2. The diffusive thermoelectric response dominates in both high- and low-temperature ranges for all samples. A clear kink in electrical resistivity, a weak anomaly in thermal conductivity, as well as a slope change in thermopower were observed at the magnetic transitions for 2H-Mn0.28_{0.28}TaS2_2 (TcT_\textrm{c} ≈\approx 82 K) and 2H-Co0.34_{0.34}TaS2_2 (TNT_\textrm{N} ≈\approx 36 K), respectively, albeit weaker for lower xx crystals. Co-intercalation promoted ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic transition is further confirmed by the Hall resistivity; the sign change of the ordinary Hall coefficient indicates a multi-band behavior in 2H-Cox_xTaS2_2.

Giant thermoelectric power factor anisotropy in PtSb1.4_{1.4}Sn0.6_{0.6}

We report giant anisotropy in thermoelectric power factor (S2σS^2σ) of marcasite structure-type PtSb1.4_{1.4}Sn0.6_{0.6}. PtSb1.4_{1.4}Sn0.6_{0.6}, synthesized using ambient pressure flux growth method upon mixing Sb and Sn on the same atomic site, is a new phase different from both PtSb2_2 and PtSn2_2 that crystallize in the cubic Pa3ˉPa\bar{3} pyrite and Fm3ˉmFm\bar{3}m fluorite unit cell symmetry, respectively. Giant difference in S2σS^2σ for heat flow applied along different principal directions of the orthorhombic unit cell mostly stems from anisotropic Seebeck coefficients.

Polaronic Conductivity in Cr2_2Ge2_2Te6_6 Single Crystals

Intrinsic, two-dimensional (2D) ferromagnetic semiconductors are an important class of materials for spin-charge conversion applications. Cr2_2Ge2_2Te6_6 retains long-range magnetic order in bilayer at cryogenic temperatures and shows complex magnetic interactions with considerable magnetic anisotropy. Here, we performed a series of structural, magnetic, X-ray scattering, electronic, thermal transport and first-principles calculation studies which reveal that localized electronic charge carriers in Cr2_2Ge2_2Te6_6 are dressed by surrounding lattice and are involved in polaronic transport via hopping that is sensitive on details of magnetocrystalline anisotropy. This opens possibility for manipulation of charge transport in Cr2_2Ge2_2Te6_6 - based devices by electron-phonon- and spin-orbit coupling-based tailoring of polaron properties.

Short-range Crystalline Order-Tuned Conductivity in Cr2_2Si2_2Te6_6 van der Waals Magnetic Crystals

Two-dimensional magnetic materials (2DMM) are significant for studies on the nature of 2D long range magnetic order but also for future spintronic devices. Of particular interest are 2DMM where spins can be manipulated by electrical conduction. Whereas Cr2_2Si2_2Te6_6 exhibits magnetic order in few-layer crystals, its large band gap inhibits electronic conduction. Here we show that the defect-induced short-range crystal order in Cr2_2Si2_2Te6_6 on the length scale below 0.6 nm induces substantially reduced band gap and robust semiconducting behavior down to 2 K that turns to metallic above 10 GPa. Our results will be helpful to design conducting state in 2DMM and call for spin-resolved measurement of the electronic structure in exfoliated ultrathin crystals.

Thermal transport and mixed valence in ZrTe3_3 doped with Hf and Se

Two-dimensional transition metal trichalcogenides (TMTC's) feature covalently bonded metal-chalcogen layers separated by the van der Waals (vdW) gap. Similar to transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs), TMTCs often host charge density waves (CDWs) and superconductivity but unlike TMDCs atomic chains in the crystal structure give rise to quasi one-dimensional (quasi 1D) conduction. ZrTe3_3 features CDW below TCDWT_{\textrm{CDW}} = 63 K and filamentary superconductivity below 2 K that can be enhanced by pressure or chemical substitution. Here we report the presence of mixed valent Zr2+^{2+} and Zr4+^{4+} atoms in ZrTe3_3 crystals that is reduced by doping in ZrTe3−x_{3-x}Sex_x and Zr1−y_{1-y}Hfy_yTe3_3. Superconductivity is enhanced via disorder in Te2-Te3 atomic chains that are associated with CDW formation. Hf substitution on Zr atomic site enhances TCDWT_{\textrm{CDW}} due to unperturbed Te2-Te3 chain periodicity and enhanced electron-phonon coupling. Weak electronic correlations in ZrTe3−x_{3-x}Sex_x are likely governed by the lattice contraction effects.

A compact flat solar still with high performance

Solar still is a convenient off-grid device for desalination, which can provide fresh water for families, ships, islands and so on. The conventional inclined solar still (ISS) suffers from low efficiency and low productivity. To improve the performance of solar still, a flat solar still (FSS) is proposed, which has a working principle similar to the solar cell. The condensate water in FSS is collected by the capillary grid attached under the ultra-hydrophilic glass cover, instead of by gravity. Therefore, FSS avoids the inclined structure and is much more compact than ISS. The daily productivity of FSS reaches up to 4.3 kg/m2. Theoretical analysis shows that the enhanced mass transfer in FSS by the compact structure is an important factor for high performance. More interestingly, FSS can also be easily extended to more stage for latent heat recovery. The results show that the daily productivity of a double-stage FSS reaches up to 7 kg/m2, which is much higher than the conventional solar still. FSS paves a new way in designing and optimizing of solar still.

Anomalous Hall effect in weak-itinerant ferrimagnet FeCr2_2Te4_4

We carried out a comprehensive study of electronic transport, thermal and thermodynamic properties in FeCr2_2Te4_4 single crystals. It exhibits bad-metallic behavior and anomalous Hall effect (AHE) below a weak-itinerant paramagentic-to-ferrimagnetic transition TcT_c ∼\sim 123 K. The linear scaling between the anomalous Hall resistivity ρxyρ_{xy} and the longitudinal resistivity ρxxρ_{xx} implies that the AHE in FeCr2_2Te4_4 is most likely dominated by extrinsic skew-scattering mechanism rather than intrinsic KL or extrinsic side-jump mechanism, which is supported by our Berry phase calculations.

Anisotropic magnetocaloric effect and critical behavior in CrSbSe3_3

We report anisotropic magnetocaloric effect and critical behavior in quasi-one-dimensional ferromagnetic CrSbSe3_3 single crystal. The maximum magnetic entropy change −ΔSMmax-ΔS_M^{max} is 2.16 J kg−1^{-1} K−1^{-1} for easy aa axis (2.03 J kg−1^{-1} K−1^{-1} for hard bb axis) and the relative cooling power RCPRCP is 163.1 J kg−1^{-1} for easy aa axis (142.1 J kg−1^{-1} for hard bb axis) near TcT_c with a magnetic field change of 50 kOe. The magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant KuK_u is estimated to be 148.5 kJ m−3^{-3} at 10 K, decreasing to 39.4 kJ m−3^{-3} at 70 K. The rescaled ΔSM(T,H)ΔS_M(T,H) curves along all three axes collapse onto a universal curve, respectively, confirming the second order ferromagnetic transition. Further critical behavior analysis around Tc∼T_c \sim 70 K gives that the critical exponents ββ = 0.26(1), γγ = 1.32(2), and δδ = 6.17(9) for H∥aH\parallel a, while ββ = 0.28(2), γγ = 1.02(1), and δδ = 4.14(16) for H∥bH\parallel b. The determined critical exponents suggest that the anisotropic magnetic coupling in CrSbSe3_3 is strongly dependent on orientations of the applied magnetic field.

Three-dimensional Fermi surface and small effective masses in Mo8Ga41

We report Fermi surface characteristics of Mo8Ga41, a two-gap superconductor with critical temperature Tc = 10 K, obtained from quantum oscillation measurements. Four major frequencies have been observed with relatively small quasiparticle masses. Angular dependence of major frequencies indicates three-dimensional Fermi surface sheets. This argues for a relatively isotropic superconducting state and, given its relatively high Tc, shows that a search for materials in this class could be of interest for superconducting wire applications.

Three-dimensional Ising Ferrimagnetism of Cr-Fe-Cr trimers in FeCr2Te4

We carried out a comprehensive study of magnetic critical behavior in single crystals of ternary chalcogenide FeCr2_2Te4_4 that undergoes a ferrimagnetic transition below TcT_c ∼\sim 123 K. Detailed critical behavior analysis and scaled magnetic entropy change indicate a second-order ferrimagentic transition. Critical exponents β=0.30(1)β= 0.30(1) with Tc=122.4(5)T_c = 122.4(5) K, γ=1.22(1)γ= 1.22(1) with Tc=122.8(1)T_c = 122.8(1) K, and δ=4.24(2)δ= 4.24(2) at TcT_c ∼\sim 123 K suggest that the spins approach three-dimensional Ising (ββ = 0.325, γγ = 1.24, and δδ = 4.82) model coupled with the attractive long-range interactions between spins that decay as J(r)≈r−4.88J(r)\approx r^{-4.88}. Our results suggest that the ferrimagnetism in FeCr2_2Te4_4 is due to itinerant ferromagnetism among the antiferromagnetically coupled Cr-Fe-Cr trimers.
