3D-Belief: Embodied Belief Inference via Generative 3D World Modeling

Recent advances in visual generative models have highlighted the promise of learning generative world models. However, most existing approaches frame world modeling as novel-view synthesis or future-frame prediction, emphasizing visual realism rather than the structured uncertainty required by embodied agents acting under partial observability. In this work, we propose a different perspective: world modeling as embodied belief inference in 3D space. From this view, a world model should not merely render what may be seen, but maintain and update an agent's belief about the unobserved 3D world as new observations are acquired. We identify several key capabilities for such models, including spatially consistent scene memory, multi-hypothesis belief sampling, sequential belief updating, and semantically informed prediction of unseen regions. We instantiate these ideas in 3D-Belief, a generative 3D world model that infers explicit, actionable 3D beliefs from partial observations and updates them online over time. Unlike prior visual prediction models, 3D-Belief represents uncertainty directly in 3D, enabling embodied agents to imagine plausible scene completions and reason over partially observed environments. We evaluate 3D-Belief on 2D visual quality for scene memory and unobserved-scene imagination, object- and scene-level 3D imagination using our proposed 3D-CORE benchmark, and challenging object navigation tasks in both simulation and the real world. Experiments show that 3D-Belief improves 2D and 3D imagination quality and downstream embodied task performance compared to state-of-the-art methods.

LongDA: Benchmarking LLM Agents for Long-Document Data Analysis

We introduce LongDA, a data analysis benchmark for evaluating LLM-based agents under documentation-intensive analytical workflows. In contrast to existing benchmarks that assume well-specified schemas and inputs, LongDA targets real-world settings in which navigating long documentation and complex data is the primary bottleneck. To this end, we manually curate raw data files, long and heterogeneous documentation, and expert-written publications from 17 publicly available U.S. national surveys, from which we extract 505 analytical queries grounded in real analytical practice. Solving these queries requires agents to first retrieve and integrate key information from multiple unstructured documents, before performing multi-step computations and writing executable code, which remains challenging for existing data analysis agents. To support the systematic evaluation under this setting, we develop LongTA, a tool-augmented agent framework that enables document access, retrieval, and code execution, and evaluate a range of proprietary and open-source models. Our experiments reveal substantial performance gaps even among state-of-the-art models, highlighting the challenges researchers should consider before applying LLM agents for decision support in real-world, high-stakes analytical settings.

Towards a General Pre-training Framework for Adaptive Learning in MOOCs

Adaptive learning aims to stimulate and meet the needs of individual learners, which requires sophisticated system-level coordination of diverse tasks, including modeling learning resources, estimating student states, and making personalized recommendations. Existing deep learning methods have achieved great success over statistical models; however, they still lack generalization for diverse tasks and suffer from insufficient capacity since they are composed of highly-coupled task-specific architectures and rely on small-scale, coarse-grained recommendation scenarios. To realize the idea of general adaptive systems proposed in pedagogical theory, with the emerging pre-training techniques in NLP, we try to conduct a practical exploration on applying pre-training to adaptive learning, to propose a unified framework based on data observation and learning style analysis, properly leveraging heterogeneous learning elements. Through a series of downstream tasks of Learning Recommendation, Learning Resource Evaluation, Knowledge Tracing, and Dropout Prediction, we find that course structures, text, and knowledge are helpful for modeling and inherently coherent to student non-sequential learning behaviors and that indirectly relevant information included in the pre-training foundation can be shared across downstream tasks to facilitate effectiveness. We finally build a simplified systematic application of adaptive learning and reflect on the insights brought back to pedagogy. The source code and dataset will be released.

Transformer based Generative Adversarial Network for Liver Segmentation

Automated liver segmentation from radiology scans (CT, MRI) can improve surgery and therapy planning and follow-up assessment in addition to conventional use for diagnosis and prognosis. Although convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have become the standard image segmentation tasks, more recently this has started to change towards Transformers based architectures because Transformers are taking advantage of capturing long range dependence modeling capability in signals, so called attention mechanism. In this study, we propose a new segmentation approach using a hybrid approach combining the Transformer(s) with the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) approach. The premise behind this choice is that the self-attention mechanism of the Transformers allows the network to aggregate the high dimensional feature and provide global information modeling. This mechanism provides better segmentation performance compared with traditional methods. Furthermore, we encode this generator into the GAN based architecture so that the discriminator network in the GAN can classify the credibility of the generated segmentation masks compared with the real masks coming from human (expert) annotations. This allows us to extract the high dimensional topology information in the mask for biomedical image segmentation and provide more reliable segmentation results. Our model achieved a high dice coefficient of 0.9433, recall of 0.9515, and precision of 0.9376 and outperformed other Transformer based approaches.
