Modifying method of constructing quantum codes from highly entangled states

There is a connection between classical codes, highly entangled pure states (called k-uniform or absolutely maximally entangled (AME) states), and quantum error correcting codes (QECCs). This leads to a systematic method to construct stabilizer QECCs by starting from a k-uniform state or the corresponding classical code and tracing out one party at each step. We provide explicit constructions for codewords, encoding procedure and stabilizer formalism of the QECCs by describing the changes that partial traces cause on the corresponding generator matrix of the classical codes. We then modify the method to produce another set of stabilizer QECCs that encode a logical qudit into a subspace spanned by AME states. This construction produces quantum codes starting from an AME state without tracing out any party. Therefore, quantum stabilizer codes with larger codespace can be constructed.

Stochastic Local Operations with Classical Communication of Absolutely Maximally Entangled States

Absolutely Maximally Entangled (AME) states are maximally entangled for every bipartition of the system. They are crucial resources for various quantum information protocols. We present techniques for verifying either two AME states are equivalent concerning Stochastic Local Operations and Classical Communication (SLOCC). The conjecture that for a given multipartite quantum system all AME states are SLOCC-equivalent is falsified. We also show that the existence of AME states with minimal support of 6 or more particles results in the existence of infinitely many such non-SLOCC-equivalent states. Moreover, we present AME states which are not SLOCC-equivalent to the existing AME states with minimal support.

Constructing entanglement measures for fermions

In this paper we describe a method for finding polynomial invariants under Stochastic Local Operations and Classical Communication (SLOCC), for a system of delocalized fermions shared between different parties, with global particle number conservation as the only constraint. These invariants can be used to construct entanglement measures for different types of entanglement in such a system. It is shown that the invariants, and the measures constructed from them, take a nonzero value only if the state of the system allows for the observation of Bell-nonlocal correlations. Invariants of this kind are constructed for systems of two and three spin-1/2 fermions and examples of maximally entangled states are given that illustrate the different types of entanglement distinguished by the invariants. A general condition for the existence of SLOCC invariants and their associated measures is given as a relation between the number of fermions, their spin, and the number of spatial modes of the system. In addition, the effect of further constraints on the system, including the localization of a subset of the fermions, is discussed. Finally, a hybrid Ising-Hubbard Hamiltonian is constructed for which the groundstate of a three site chain exhibits a high degree of entanglement at the transition between a regime dominated by on-site interaction and a regime dominated by Ising-interaction. This entanglement is well described by a measure constructed by the introduced method.

Condensation of an ideal gas with intermediate statistics on the horizon

We consider a boson gas on the stretched horizon of the Schwartzschild and Kerr black holes. It is shown that the gas is in a Bose-Einstein condensed state with the Hawking temperature $T_c=T_H$ if the particle number of the system be equal to the number of quantum bits of space-time $ N \simeq {A}/{ł_{p}^{2}}$. Entropy of the gas is proportional to the area of the horizon $(A)$ by construction. For a more realistic model of quantum degrees of freedom on the horizon, we should presumably consider interacting bosons (gravitons). An ideal gas with intermediate statistics could be considered as an effective theory for interacting bosons. This analysis shows that we may obtain a correct entropy just by a suitable choice of parameter in the intermediate statistics.
