Amplitude analysis and branching fraction measurement of $J/ψ\to Λ\barΣ^0η+\mathrm{c.c}$

Based on a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial-wave analysis of $ J/ψ\to Λ\bar{ Σ}^0η+\mathrm{c.c} $ is performed for the first time. The dominant contributions are found to be excited $Λ$ states with $J^P=1/2^-$ and $J^P=1/2^+$ in the $ηΛ$ mass spectra. The measured masses and widths are $M=1668.8\pm3.1\pm21.2$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=52.7\pm4.2\pm17.8$ MeV for the $Λ(1670)$, and $M=1881.5\pm16.5\pm20.3$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=82.4\pm18.2\pm8.9$ MeV for the $Λ(1810)$, respectively. The branching fraction is determined to be $ \mathcal{B}(J/ψ\to Λ\bar{ Σ}^0η+\mathrm{c.c}) $ = $(3.44 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.13) \times 10^{-5}$. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

Cross section measurement of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{0}π^{0}ψ(3686)$ from $\sqrt{s}=$ 4.008 GeV to 4.951 GeV

Using data samples with a total integrated luminosity of $22.1~\rm fb^{-1}$ at center-of-mass energies between 4.008 and 4.951~GeV collected with the BESIII detector, the cross sections of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{0}π^{0}ψ(3686)$ process are measured. The obtained cross sections are found to be approximately one-half of those of $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$, consistent with the isospin symmetry expectation. A coherent fit to the dressed cross sections is performed, with the $Y(4230)$~parameters fixed at the values measured in $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$. The significances of the $Y(4390)$ and $Y(4660)$ are both larger than $5σ$, and their masses and widths are consistent with the previous measurement in the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow π^{+}π^{-}ψ(3686)$ process.

First Measurement of the Absolute Branching Fraction of $η_c \to γγ$

We apply a tag-and-probe method to precisely measure the absolute branching fraction of the decay $η_c \to γγ$ with the BESIII experiment at BEPCII. Starting with a large initial sample of $2712.4\pm 14.3$ million $ψ(3686)$ events, a sample of 0.16 million $η_c$ events are tagged via the golden channel $ψ(3686)\to π^0 h_c$, $h_c\to γη_c$, effectively avoiding interference effects. The absolute branching fraction of $η_c \to γγ$ is measured for the first time to be $\mathcal{B}(η_c \to γγ) = (2.45 \pm 0.48_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.09_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-4}$. Using the world average value of the total width of the $η_c$, the partial decay width of $η_c \to γγ$ is calculated to be $Γ(η_c \to γγ) = (7.48 \pm 1.48_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.30_{\rm syst.})~{\rm keV}$.

First Observation of $D^{0(+)}\to \bar Kωe^+ν_e$ and Determination of the Branching Fraction of $\bar K_1(1270)\to \bar K ω$

Using 20.3~fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ annihilation data collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of the semileptonic decays $D^0\to K^-ωe^+ν_e$ and $D^+\to K_S^0ωe^+ν_e$ with significances of $8.0σ$ and $5.8σ$, respectively, including systematic uncertainties. Their decay branching fractions are measured to be ${\cal B}(D^0\to K^-ωe^+ν_e)=(9.3^{+2.1}_{-1.9}\pm 0.7)\times10^{-5}$ and ${\cal B}(D^+\to K_S^0ωe^+ν_e)=(6.6^{+2.0}_{-1.8}\pm 0.6)\times10^{-5}$. Combining with the latest measurements of $D^{0(+)}\to K^-π^+π^{-(0)} e^+ν_e$ and assuming $\bar{K}_1(1270)$ to be the sole mediating resonance in all processes, the branching ratios are determined to be $\frac{Γ(K_1(1270)^-\to K^-π^+π^-)}{Γ(K_1(1270)^-\to K^-ω)} = 3.4^{+0.8}_{-0.7} \pm 0.3$ and $\frac{Γ(\bar{K}_1(1270)^0\to K^-π^+π^0)}{Γ(\bar{K}_1(1270)^0\to \bar{K}^0ω)} = 9.6^{+3.0}_{-2.7} \pm 0.8$. The combined branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal B(\bar{K}_1(1270)\to \bar{K}ω) = (7.5\pm 1.3 \pm 0.5)\%$, which is the most precise measurement from a collider experiment. The first uncertainties are statistical, and the second are systematic.

Measurements of the absolute branching fractions of the $Λ_{c}^{+}$ hadronic decays

Based on 4.5 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4599.53 MeV and 4698.82 MeV with the BESIII detector, the absolute branching fractions of twelve $Λ_{c}^{+}$ hadronic decay modes are measured with a double-tag technique. A global least-square fit is implemented simultaneously among different decay modes at different energy points. This paper gives the most precise results on the branching fractions of different decay modes to date, with precision improved by a factor of 2 to 3. Among them, the branching fraction of $Λ_{c}^{+}\to pK^{-}π^+$ is determined to be $(6.61\pm0.11\pm0.12)\%$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. In addition, the $e^+e^-\toΛ_c^+\barΛ_c^-$ Born cross sections and the effective form factors ($|G_{\rm eff}|$) at different energy points have been determined with the highest precision to date.

The branching fractions of these decays are measured for the first time, and the statistical significance for each signal exceeds $10σ$.

Observation of Polarization and Determination of Electric and Magnetic Moments of $Ξ(1530)^0$ in $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$

Using the data sample of $2.7\times10^9$ $ψ(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we present an observation of the $Ξ(1530)^0$ polarization in the decay $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$ with a significance larger than $20σ$ compared with all other tested hypotheses. The helicity amplitudes for the process $ψ(3686)\toΞ(1530)^0\barΞ(1530)^0$ and the moduli of form factors including electric charge, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic octupole are measured for the first time by performing an angular distribution analysis. Additionally, the polarization correlations between $Ξ(1530)^0$ and $\barΞ(1530)^0$ are measured.

Emergence of superconductivity on the border of antiferromagnetic order in RbMn6Bi5 under high pressure: A new family of Mn-based superconductors

The advances in the field of unconventional superconductivity are largely driven by the discovery of novel superconducting systems. Here we report on the discovery of superconductivity on the border of antiferromagnetic order in a quasi-one-dimensional RbMn6Bi5 via measurements of resistivity and magnetic susceptibility under high pressures. With increasing pressure, its antiferromagnetic transition with TN = 83 K at ambient pressure is first enhanced moderately and then suppressed completely at a critical pressure of Pc = 13 GPa, around which bulk superconductivity emerges and exhibits a dome-like Tc(P) with a maximal Tc_onset = 9.5 K at about 15 GPa. Its temperature-pressure phase diagram resembles those of many magnetism-mediated superconducting systems. In addition, the superconducting state around Pc is characterized by a large upper critical field μ0Hc2(0) exceeding the Pauli limit, elaborating a possible unconventional paring mechanism. The present study, together with our recent work on KMn6Bi5 (Tcmax = 9.3 K), makes AMn6Bi5 (A= Alkali metal) a new family of Mn-based superconductors with relatively high Tc.

On the drift wave eigenmode crossing zero frequency in Tokamak

The conventional ion temperature gradient or η_i mode is known to propagate in the ion diamagnetic direction. Investigation of a generic drift fluid model with warm ions and adiabatic electrons, reveals that as η_i decreases, the propagation characteristics of the unstable mode may change drastically, the mode frequency first decreases in magnitude, and reaches zero for a critical η_i. But as η_i goes down further, the mode begins to propagate in the electron diamagnetic direction. The lower toroidal mode number perturbations are more prone to reversal in propagation direction. Even for η_i=0, the mode remains unstable, drawing free energy form the density gradients. Since finite ion temperature appears to be essential for propagation in the electron direction, it is appropriate to introduce new terminology and call this wave the warm ion electron drift (WIED) mode. The model drift wave system is explored within the framework of the two dimensional (2D) weakly asymmetric ballooning theory (WABT) for local eigenmode satisfying natural boundary conditions. The physics behind the excitation of the eigenmode crossing zero frequency is identified to be the reactive instability induced by the curvature coupling between the positive energy wave and the negative energy wave, a damped mode in electron direction coupled to a growing mode in the ion direction in non-dissipative slab limit. Apart from its intrinsic scientific value, this mechanism may shed some light onto the nature of tokamak edge turbulence observed in frequencies moderately lower than the electron diamagnetic frequency; understanding this phenomenon could be helpful in conceptual design around the edge region of future tokamak.

Pressure-induced superconductivity up to 9 K in the quasi-one-dimensional KMn6Bi5

The Mn-based superconductor is rare owing to the strong magnetic pair-breaking effect. Here we report on the discovery of pressure-induced superconductivity in KMn6Bi5, which becomes the first ternary Mn-based superconductor. At ambient pressure, the quasi-one-dimensional KMn6Bi5 is an antiferromagnetic metal with TN = 75 K. By measuring resistivity and ac magnetic susceptibility under hydrostatic pressures up to 14.2 GPa in a cubic anvil cell apparatus, we find that its antiferromagnetic transition can be suppressed completely at a critical pressure of Pc = 13 GPa, around which bulk superconductivity emerges and displays a superconducting dome with the maximal Tconset = 9.3 K achieved at about 14.2 GPa. The close proximity of superconductivity to a magnetic instability in the temperature-pressure phase diagram of KMn6Bi5 and an unusually large μ0Hc2(0) = 18.9 T exceeding the Pauli limit suggests an unconventional magnetism-mediated paring mechanism. In contrast to the binary MnP, the flexibility of the crystal structure and chemical compositions in the ternary AMn6Bi5 (A = alkali metal) can open a new avenue for finding more Mn-based superconductors.

Superconductivity at ~70 K in Tin Hydride SnHx under High Pressure

Various tin hydrides SnHx (x = 4, 8, 12, 14) have been theoretically predicted to be stable at high pressures and to show high-critical-temperature superconductivity with Tc ranging from about 70 to 100 K. However, experimental verifications for any of these phases are still lacking to date. Here, we report on the in-situ synthesis, electrical resistance, and synchrotron x-ray diffraction measurements of SnHx at ~ 200 GPa. The main phase of the obtained sample can be indexed with the monoclinic C2/m SnH12 via comparison with the theoretical structural modes. A sudden drop of resistance and the systematic downward shift under external magnetic fields signals the occurrence of superconductivity in SnHx at Tc = ~ 70 K with an upper critical field u0Hc2(0) = ~ 11.2 T, which is relatively low in comparison with other reported high-Tc superhydrides. Various characteristic superconducting parameters are estimated based on the BCS theory.

Superconductivity in Scandium Borocarbide with orbital hybridization

Exploration of superconductivity in light element compounds has drawn considerable attention because those materials can easily realize the high $T_{c}$ superconductivity, such as ${\mathrm{LnNi}}_{2}{\mathrm{B}_{2}}{\mathrm{C}}$ ($T_{c}$ =17 K), ${\mathrm{Mg}}{\mathrm{B}}_{2}$ ($T_{c}$ =39 K), and very recently super-hydrides under pressure ($T_{c}$ =250 K). Here we report the discovery of bulk superconductivity at 7.8 K in scandium borocarbide ${\mathrm{Sc}}_{20}{\mathrm{B}}{\mathrm{C}}_{27}$ with a tetragonal lattice which structure changes based on the compound of ${\mathrm{Sc}}_{3}{\mathrm{C}}_{4}$ with very little B doping. Magnetization and specific heat measurements show bulk superconductivity. An upper critical field of Hc2(0) ~ 8 T is determined. Low temperature specific-heat shows that this system is a BCS fully gapped s-wave superconductor. Electronic structure calculations demonstrate that compared with ${\mathrm{Sc}}_{3}{\mathrm{C}}_{4}$ there are more orbital overlap and hybridization between Sc 3d electrons and 2p electrons of C-C(B)-C fragment in ${\mathrm{Sc}}_{20}{\mathrm{B}}{\mathrm{C}}_{27}$, which form a new electric conduction path of Sc-C(B)-Sc. Those changes influence the band structure at the Fermi level and may be the reason of superconductivity in ${\mathrm{Sc}}_{20}{\mathrm{B}}{\mathrm{C}}_{27}$.

The intermittent excitation of geodesic acoustic mode by nonlinear Instanton of electron drift wave envelope in L-mode discharge near tokamak edge

There are two distinct phases in the evolution of drift wave envelope in the presence of zonal flow. A long-lived standing wave phase, which we call the Caviton, and a short-lived traveling wave phase (in radial direction) we call the Instanton. For drift wave turbulence driven by ion temperature gradient mode (ITG), these two stages of dynamics were displayed in [Zhang Y Z, Liu Z Y, Xie T, Mahajan S M and Liu J 2017 Physics of Plasmas 24 122304]. In this paper we show that the dynamical attributes of ITG turbulence are readily replicated when the turbulence rotates in the electron direction; our model calculation deals specifically with the toroidal electron drift waves (EDW) in the well-known δ_e model. While the basic calculations are presented in parallel to the ITG counterpart, more emphasis is laid here on the motion of Instanton; several abrupt phenomena observed in tokamaks, such as intermittent excitation of geodesic acoustic mode (GAM) shown in this paper, could be attributed to the sudden and fast radial motion of Instanton. The calculation brings out the defining characteristics of the Instanton: it begins as a linear traveling wave right after the transition. Then, it evolves to a nonlinear stage with increasing frequency all the way to 20 kHz. The modulation to Reynolds stress in zonal flow equation will cause resonant excitation to GAM. The intermittency is shown due to the random phase mixing between multiple central rational surfaces in the reaction region.

Discovery of delayed spin-up behavior following two large glitches in the Crab pulsar, and the statistics of such processes

Glitches correspond to sudden jumps of rotation frequency ($ν$) and its derivative ($\dotν$) of pulsars, the origin of which remains not well understood yet, partly because the jump processes of most glitches are not well time-resolved. There are three large glitches of the Crab pulsar, detected in 1989, 1996 and 2017, which were found to have delayed spin-up processes before the normal recovery processes. Here we report two additional glitches of the Crab pulsar occurred in 2004 and 2011 for which we discovered delayed spin up processes, and present refined parameters of the largest glitch occurred in 2017. The initial rising time of the glitch is determined as $<0.48$ hour. We also carried out a statistical study of these five glitches with observed spin-up processes. The two glitches occurred in 2004 and 2011 have delayed spin-up time scales ($τ_{1}$) of $1.7\pm0.8$\,days and $1.6\pm0.4$\,days, respectively. We find that the $Δν$ vs. $|Δ{\dotν}|$ relation of these five glitches is similar to those with no detected delayed spin-up process, indicating that they are similar to the others in nature except that they have larger amplitudes. For these five glitches, the amplitudes of the delayed spin-up process ($|Δν_{\rm d1}|$) and recovery process ($Δν_{\rm d2}$), their time scales ($τ_{1}$, $τ_{2}$), and permanent changes in spin frequency ($Δν_{\rm p}$) and total frequency step ($Δν_{\rm g}$) have positive correlations. From these correlations, we suggest that the delayed spin-up processes are common for all glitches, but are too short and thus difficult to be detected for most glitches.

Edge Temperature Ring Oscillation Modulated by Turbulence Transition for Sustaining Stationary Improved Energy Confinement Plasmas

A reproducible stationary improved confinement mode (I-mode) has been achieved recently in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak, featuring good confinement without particle transport barrier, which could be beneficial to solving the heat flux problem caused by edge localized modes (ELM) and the helium ash problem for future fusion reactors. The microscopic mechanism of sustaining stationary I-mode, based on the coupling between turbulence transition and the edge temperature oscillation, has been discovered for the first time. A radially localized edge temperature ring oscillation (ETRO) with azimuthally symmetric structure ($n=0$,$m=0$) has been identified and it is caused by alternative turbulence transitions between ion temperature gradient modes (ITG) and trapped electron modes (TEM). The ITG-TEM transition is controlled by local electron temperature gradient and consistent with the gyrokinetic simulations. The self-organizing system consisting with ETRO, turbulence and transport transitions plays the key role in sustaining the I-mode confinement. These results provide a novel physics basis for accessing, maintaining and controlling stationary I-mode in the future.

Results of 12 Years of Pulsar Timing at Nanshan -- I

We have used the Nanshan 25-m Radio Telescope at Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory to obtain timing observations of 87 pulsars from 2002 July to 2014 March. Using the "Cholesky" timing analysis method we have determined positions and proper motions for 48 pulsars, 24 of which are improved positions compared to previously published values. We also present the first published proper motions for nine pulsars and improved proper motions for 21 pulsars using pulsar timing and position comparison method. The pulsar rotation parameters are derived and are more accurate than previously published values for 36 pulsars. Glitches are detected in three pulsars: PSRs J1722$-$3632, J1852$-$0635 and J1957+2831. For the first two, the glitches are large, with $Δν_g/ν> 10^{-6}$, and they are the first detected glitches in these pulsars. PSR J1722$-$3632 is the second oldest pulsar with large glitch. For the middle-age pulsars ($τ_c > 10^5$~yr), the calculated braking indices, $|n|$, are strongly correlated with $τ_c$ and the numbers of positive and negative values of $n$ are almost equal. For young pulsars ($τ_c < 10^5$~yr), there is no correlation between $|n|$ and $τ_c$ and most have $n>0$.

The mode switching of PSR B2020+28

This paper reports on polarimetric radiation properties based on the switching modes of normal PSR B2020+28 by analysing the data acquired from the Nanshan 25-m radio telescope at 1556 MHz. With nearly 8 hours quasi-continuous observation, the data presented some striking and updated phenomena. The change of relative intensity between the leading and trailing components is the predominant feature of mode switching. The intensity ratio between the leading and trailing components are measured for the individual profiles averaged over 30 seconds. It is found that there is an excess of high ratios over the normal distribution, which indicates that two modes exist in the pulsar. The distribution of abnormal mode has a narrower width indicating that the abnormal mode is more stable than the normal mode. A total of 76 mode switching events are detected in our data. It spends 89\% in the normal mode and 11\% in the abnormal mode. The intrinsic distributions of mode timescales are constrained with power-law distributions. The significant difference in the index of the duration distribution between normal and abnormal modes possibly indicates that the timescale for the abnormal mode to get stable is shorter than that for the normal mode. The frequent switching between both modes may indicate that the oscillations between different magnetospheric states are rapid.

A new class of topological insulators from I-III-IV half-Heusler compounds with strong band inversion strength

In this paper, by first principle calculations, we investigate systematically the band topology of a new half-Heusler family with composition of I(A)-III(A)-IV(A). The results clearly show that many of the I-III-IV half-Heusler compounds are in fact promising to be topological insulator candidates. The characteristic feature of these new topological insulators is the naturally strong band inversion strength (up to -2eV) without containing heavy elements. Moreover, we found that both the band inversion strength and the topological insulating gap can be tailored through strain engineering, and therefore would be grown epitaxially in the form of films, and useful in spintronics and other applications.

Crossover of magnetoresistance in the zerogap half-metallic Heusler alloy Fe2CoSi

This work reports on the band structure and magneto-transport investigations of the inverse Heusler compound Fe2CoSi. The first-principles calculations reveal that Fe2CoSi has a very peculiar band structure with a conducting property in the majority spin channel and a nearly zero bandgap in the minority spin channel. The synthesized Fe2CoSi sample shows a high-ordered inverse Heusler structure with a magnetic moment of 4.88 μB at 5 K and a high Curie temperature of 1038 K. With increasing temperature, a crossover from positive to negative magnetoresistance (MR) is observed. Complemented with the Hall effect measurements, we suggest the intriguing crossover of MR can be ascribed to the dominant spin carriers changing from the gapless minority spin channel to the majority spin channel at Fermi level.

Non-detection of pulsed radio emission from magnetar Swift J1834.9-0846: constraint on the fundamental plane of magnetar radio emission

The magnetar Swift J1834.9-0846 is observed using Nanshan 25 meter radio telescope. No pulsed radio emission is detected. The upper limit on pulsed radio emission from this source is 0.5 mJy. According to the fundamental plane for radio magnetars, this source should have radio emission. Therefore, our results put constraints on the existence of a fundamental plane of magnetar radio emission. We argue that a magnetar's ability to emit radio emission may have little to do with the spin down luminosity and it is related to the magnetar X-ray luminosity. The only necessary condition is a relatively low X-ray luminosity.

Spectral characterization of third-order harmonic generation assisted by two-dimensional plasma grating in air

A dramatic spectral modulation of third-order harmonic (TH) emission generated in a near in- frared femtosecond (fs) pulse filamentation, assisted by a two-dimensional plasma grating formed by two pump femtosecond pulses, is experimentally demonstrated when their spatiotemporal overlap is achieved. It is mainly attributed to strong cross-phase modulation induced by the fundamental wave of the probe pulse and two pump ones. The delay dynamic of TH spectra indicates the influence of two retarded nonlinear responses on the TH generation. The dependences of TH generation on the energies of probe and pump pulses, relative field polarization angle are also studied.

Topological Insulators in Hexagonal Wurtzite-type Binary Compounds

We propose new topological insulators in hexagonal wurtzite-type binary compounds based on the first principles calculations. It is found that two compounds AgI and AuI are three-dimensional topological insulators with a naturally opened band-gap at Fermi level. From band inversion mechanism point view, this new family of topological insulators is similar with HgTe, which has s (Gamma 6) - p (Gamma 8) band inversion. Our results strongly support that the spin-orbit coupling is not an essential factor to the band inversion mechanism; on the contrary, it is mainly responsible to the formation of a global band gap for the studied topological insulators. We further theoretically explore the feasibility of tuning the topological order of the studied compounds with two types of strains. The results show that the uniaxial strain can contribute extremely drastic impacts to the band inversion behavior, which provide an effective approach to induce topological phase transition.

Phototransistor Behavior Based on Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell

In the present work, a light-controlled device cell is established based on the dye-sensitized solar cell using nanocrystalline TiO2 films. Voltage-current curves are characterized by three types of transport behaviors: linear increase, saturated plateau and breakdown-like increase, which are actually of the typical performances for a photo-gated transistor. Moreover, an asymmetric behavior is observed in the voltage-current loops, which is believed to arise from the difference in the effective photo-conducting areas. The photovoltaic voltage between the shared counter electrode and drain (VCE-D) is investigated as well, clarifying that the predominant dark process in source and the predominant photovoltaic process in drain are series connected, modifying the electric potential levels and thus resulting in the characteristic phototransistor behaviors.

Long term monitoring of mode switching for PSR B0329+54

The mode switching phenomenon of PSR B0329+54 is investigated based on the long-term monitoring from September 2003 to April 2009 made with the Urumqi 25m radio telescope at 1540 MHz. At that frequency, the change of relative intensity between the leading and trailing components is the predominant feature of mode switching. The intensity ratios between the leading and trailing components are measured for the individual profiles averaged over a few minutes. It is found that the ratios follow normal distributions, where the abnormal mode has a wider typical width than the normal mode, indicating that the abnormal mode is less stable than the normal mode. Our data show that 84.9% of the time for PSR B0329+54 was in the normal mode and 15.1% was in the abnormal mode. From the two passages of eight-day quasi-continuous observations in 2004, and supplemented by the daily data observed with 15 m telescope at 610 MHz at Jodrell Bank Observatory, the intrinsic distributions of mode timescales are constrained with the Bayesian inference method. It is found that the gamma distribution with the shape parameter slightly smaller than 1 is favored over the normal, lognormal and Pareto distributions. The optimal scale parameters of the gamma distribution is 31.5 minutes for the abnormal mode and 154 minutes for the normal mode. The shape parameters have very similar values, i.e. 0.75^{+0.22}_{-0.17} for the normal mode and 0.84^{+0.28}_{-0.22} for the abnormal mode, indicating the physical mechanisms in both modes may be the same. No long-term modulation of the relative intensity ratios was found for both the modes, suggesting that the mode switching was stable. The intrinsic timescale distributions, for the first time constrained for this pulsar, provide valuable information to understand the physics of mode switching.

Strong pulses detected from a rotating radio transient J1819$-$1458

We analyze individual pulses detected from RRAT J1819$-$1458. From April 2007 to April 2010, we carried out observations using the Nanshan 25-m radio telescope of Urumqi Observatory at a central frequency of 1541.25 MHz. We obtain a dispersion measure $DM=195.7\pm0.3$ pc cm^{-3} by analyzing all the 423 detected bursts. The tri-band pattern of arrival time residuals is confirmed by a single pulse timing analysis. Twenty-seven bimodal bursts located in the middle residual band are detected, and, profiles of two typical bimodal bursts and two individual single-peak pulses are presented. We determine the statistical properties of SNR and W$_{50}$ of bursts in different residual bands. The W$_{50}$ variation with SNR shows that the shapes of bursts are quite different from each other. The cumulative probability distribution of intensity for a possible power law with index $α=1.6\pm0.2$ is inferred from the number of those bursts with $SNR\ge6$ and high intensities.

29 Glitches Detected at Urumqi Observatory

Glitches detected in pulsar timing observations at the Nanshan radio telescope of Urumqi Observatory between 2002 July and 2008 December are presented. In total, 29 glitches were detected in 19 young pulsars, with this being the first detection of a glitch in 12 of these pulsars. Fractional glitch amplitudes range from a few parts in 10^{-11} to 3.9 x 10^{-6}. Three "slow" glitches are identified in PSRs J0631+1036, B1822-09 and B1907+10. Post-glitch recoveries differ greatly from pulsar to pulsar and for different glitches in the same pulsar. Most large glitches show some evidence for exponential post-glitch recovery on timescales of 100 -- 1000 days, but in some cases, e.g., PSR B1758-23, there is little or no recovery. Beside exponential recoveries, permanent increases in slowdown rate are seen for the two large glitches in PSRs B1800-21 and B1823-13. These and several other pulsars also show a linear increase in nudot following the partial exponential recovery, which is similar to the Vela pulsar post-glitch behaviour. Analysis of the whole sample of known glitches show that fractional glitch amplitudes are correlated with characteristic age with a peak at about 10^5 years, but there is a spread of two or three orders of magnitude at all ages. Glitch activity is positively correlated with spin-down rate, again with a wide spread of values.

Multiwavelength properties of a new Geminga-like pulsar: PSR J2021+4026

In this paper, we report a detailed investigation of the multiwavelength properties of a newly detected gamma-ray pulsar, PSR J2021+4026, in both observational and theoretical aspects. We firstly identify an X-ray source in the XMM-Newton serendipitous source catalogue, 2XMM J202131.0+402645, located within the 95% confidence circle of PSR J2021+4026. With an archival Chandra observation, this identification provides an X-ray position with arcsecond accuracy which is helpful in facilitating further investigations. Searching for the pulsed radio emission at the position of 2XMM J202131.0+402645 with a 25-m telescope at Urumqi Astronomical Observatory resulted in null detection and places an upper-limit of 0.1~mJy for any pulsed signal at 18~cm. Together with the emission properties in X-ray and gamma-ray, the radio quietness suggests PSR J2021+4026 to be another member of Geminga-like pulsars. In the radio sky survey data, extended emission features have been identified in the gamma-ray error circle of PSR J2021+4026. We have also re-analyzed the gamma-ray data collected by FERMI's Large Area Telescope. We found that the X-ray position of 2XMM J202131.0+402645 is consistent with that of the optimal gamma-ray timing solution. We have further modeled the results in the context of outer gap model which provides us with constraints for the pulsar emission geometry such as magnetic inclination angle and the viewing angle. We have also discussed the possibility of whether PSR J2021+4026 has any physical association with the supernova remnant G78.2+2.1 (gamma-Cygni).
