On the Hyperbolizing metric spaces

In this paper, we prove that the metric space (Z∖M,uZ)(Z\setminus M,u_Z) defined by Z.Ibragimov is asymptotically PT−1PT_{-1} if the metric space (Z,d)(Z,d) is PT0PT_{0}, where MM is a nonempty closed proper subset of ZZ. Secondly, based on the metric uZu_Z, we define a new kind of metric kzk_{z} on the set Z∖MZ\setminus M and show that the new metric space (Z∖M,kZ)(Z\setminus M,k_{Z}) is also asymptotically PT−1PT_{-1} without the assumption of PT0PT_{0} on the metric space (Z,d)(Z,d).

Univalent harmonic mappings and lift to the minimal surfaces

We construct sense-preserving univalent harmonic mappings which map the unit disk onto a domain which is convex in the horizontal direction, but with varying dilatation. Also, we obtain minimal surfaces associated with such harmonic mappings. This solves also a recent problem of Dorff and Muir (Abstr. Appl. Anal. (2014)). In several of the cases, we illustrate mappings together with their minimal surfaces pictorially with the help of \texttt{Mathematica} software.

Ramanujan's cubic transformation and generalized modular equation

We study the quotient of hypergeometric functions \begin{equation*} μ_{a}^*(r)=\fracπ{2\sin{(πa)}}\frac{F(a,1-a;1;1-r^3)}{F(a,1-a;1;r^3)} \quad (r\in(0,1)) \end{equation*} in the theory of Ramanujan's generalized modular equation for a∈(0,1/2]a\in(0,1/2], find an infinite product formula for μ1/3∗(r)μ_{1/3}^*(r) by use of the properties of μa∗(r)μ_{a}^*(r) and Ramanujan's cubic transformation. Besides, a new cubic transformation formula of hypergeometric function is given, which complements the Ramanujan's cubic transformation.

Groups generated by two elliptic elements in PU(2,1)

Let ff and gg be two elliptic elements in PU(2,1)\mathbf{PU}(2,1) of order mm and nn respectively, where m≥n>2m\geq n>2. We prove that if the distance δ(f,g)δ(f,g) between the complex lines or points fixed by ff and gg is large than a certain number, then the group <f,g>< f, g > is discrete nonelementary and isomorphic to the free product Zm∗Zn\mathbf{Z}_{m}*\mathbf{Z}_{n}.
