FFLO Excitonic State in the Three-Chain Hubbard Model for Ta2_2NiSe5_5

The three-chain Hubbard model for Ta2_2NiSe5_5 known as a candidate material for the excitonic insulator is investigated over the wide range of energy gap DD between the two-fold degenerate conduction bands and the nondegenerate valence band including both semiconducting (D>0D>0) and semimetallic (D<0D<0) cases. In the semimetallic case, the difference of the band degeneracy inevitably causes the imbalance of each Fermi wavenumber, resulting in a remarkable excitonic state characterized by the condensation of excitons with finite center-of-mass momentum qq, the so-called Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) excitonic state. With decreasing DD corresponding to increasing pressure, the obtained excitonic phase diagram shows a crossover from BEC ($D\simg 0$) to BCS ($D\siml 0$) regime, and then shows a distinct phase transition at a certain critical value Dc(<0)D_c(<0) from the uniform (q=0q=0) to the FFLO (q≠0q\ne 0) excitonic state, as expected to be observed in Ta2_2NiSe5_5 under high pressure.

A High-Tc Mechanism of Iron Pnictide Superconductivity due to Cooperation of Ferro-orbital and Antiferromagnetic Fluctuations

The electronic states and superconductivity in iron pnictides are studied on the basis of the 16 band dd-pp model which includes both the onsite Coulomb interaction between Fe dd electrons and the intersite one between Fe dd and pnictogen pp electrons. The model well accounts for experimentally observed two fluctuations: the dd-dd interaction-enhanced antiferromagnetic (AFM) fluctuation and the dd-pp interaction-enhanced ferro-orbital (FO) fluctuation responsible for the C66C_{66} elastic softening. The AFM fluctuation induces the repulsive pairing interaction for q∼QAF\bm{q}\sim \bm{Q}_{\rm AF} while the FO does the attractive one for q∼0\bm{q}\sim \bm{0} resulting in the s±s_{\pm}-wave superconductivity where the two fluctuations cooperatively enhance the superconducting transition temperature TcT_{c} without any competition by virtue of the q\bm{q}-space segregation.

Metal-insulator transition and superconductivity in the two-orbital Hubbard-Holstein model for iron-based superconductors

We investigate a two-orbital model for iron-based superconductors to elucidate the effect of interplay between electron correlation and Jahn-Teller electron-phonon coupling by using the dynamical mean-field theory combined with the exact diagonalization method. When the intra- and inter-orbital Coulomb interactions, UU and U′U', increase with U=U′U=U', both the local spin and orbital susceptibilities, χsχ_{s} and χoχ_{o}, increase with χs=χoχ_{s}=χ_{o} in the absence of the Hund's rule coupling JJ and the electron-phonon coupling gg. In the presence of JJ and gg, there are distinct two regimes: for J∼>2g2/ω0J \stackrel{>}{_\sim} 2g^2/ω_0 with the phonon frequency ω0ω_0, χsχ_{s} is enhanced relative to χoχ_{o} and shows a divergence at J=JcJ=J_c above which the system becomes Mott insulator, while for J∼<2g2/ω0J \stackrel{<}{_\sim} 2g^2/ω_0, χoχ_{o} is enhanced relative to χsχ_{s} and shows a divergence at g=gcg=g_c above which the system becomes bipolaronic insulator. In the former regime, the superconductivity is mediated by antiferromagnetic fluctuations enhanced due to Fermi-surface nesting and is found to be largely dependent on carrier doping. On the other hand, in the latter regime, the superconductivity is mediated by ferro-orbital fluctuations and is observed for wide doping region including heavily doped case without the Fermi-surface nesting.

Dynamical Mean-Field Study of Local Pairing Interaction Mediated by Spin and Orbital Fluctuations in Iron Pnictide Superconductors

We investigate the two-orbital Hubbard model, which reproduces the electron and hole Fermi surfaces in the iron pnictide superconductors, in the presence of the Jahn-Teller electron-phonon coupling by using the dynamical mean-field theory. When the intra- and inter-orbital Coulomb interactions, UU and U′U', increase with U=U′U=U', both the local spin and orbital susceptibilities, χsχ_{s} and χoχ_{o}, increase with χs=χoχ_{s}=χ_{o} because of the spin-orbital symmetry. Due to the Hund's rule coupling JJ, χsχ_{s} is enhanced and dominates over χoχ_{o} resulting in the repulsive local pairing interaction Vloc>0V_{\rm loc}>0, while due to the electron-phonon coupling gg, χoχ_{o} is enhanced and dominates over χsχ_{s} resulting in the attractive one Vloc<0V_{\rm loc}<0 which induces the intra-orbital s-wave pairing. Remarkably, VlocV_{\rm loc} is weakly dependent on doping and can be attractive for heavily electron-doped regime where the superconductivity is observed without Fermi surface nesting.

Dynamical mean-field theory for the anisotropic Kondo semiconductor: Temperature and magnetic field dependence

We investigate the periodic Anderson model with k\bm{k}-dependent cc-ff mixing reproducing the point nodes of the hybridization gap by using the dynamical mean-field theory combined with the exact diagonalization method. At low temperature below a coherence temperature T0T_0, the imaginary part of the self-energy is found to be proportional to T2T^2 and the pseudogap with two characteristic energies Δ~1\tilde{\it Δ}_1 and Δ~2\tilde{\it Δ}_2 is clearly observed for T≪T0T\ll T_0, while the pseudogap is smeared with increasing TT and then disappears at high temperature $T \simg T_0$ due to the evolution of the imaginary self-energy. When the Coulomb interaction between ff electrons UU increases, Δ~1\tilde{\it Δ}_1, Δ~2\tilde{\it Δ}_2, and T0T_0 together with TmaxT_{\rm max} at which the magnetic susceptibility is maximum decrease in proportion to the renormalization factor ZZ resulting in a heavy-fermion semiconductor with a large mass enhancement m∗/m=Z−1m^*/m=Z^{-1} for large UU. We also examine the effect of the external magnetic field HH and find that the magnetization MM shows two metamagnetic anomalies H1H_1 and H2H_2 corresponding to Δ~1\tilde{\it Δ}_1 and Δ~2\tilde{\it Δ}_2 which are reduced due to the effect of HH together with ZZ. Remarkably, Z−1Z^{-1} is found to be largely enhanced due to HH especially for $H_1 \siml H \siml H_2$, where the field induced heavy-fermion state is realized. The obtained results seem to be consistent with the experimental results observed in the anisotropic Kondo semiconductors such as CeNiSn.

Cooperative effects of Coulomb and electron-phonon interactions in the two-dimensional 16-band d-p model for iron-based superconductors

We study the electronic states and the superconductivity in the two-dimensional 16-band d-p model coupled with A1g, B1g and Eg local phonons and obtain the rich phase diagram including the magnetic, charge and orbital ordered phases on the parameter plane of the Coulomb and electron-phonon interactions. When the electron-phonon interaction is dominant, the charge fluctuations induce the s++ wave superconductivity, while when the Coulomb interaction is dominant, the magnetic fluctuations induce the s+- wave superconductivity. Remarkably, the orbital fluctuations are enhanced due to the cooperative effects of the Coulomb and electron-phonon interactions and induce the s++ wave and the nodal s+- wave superconductivities.

Dynamical Mean-Field Study of Metamagnetism in Heavy Fermion Systems

We investigate the metamagnetism in the periodic Anderson model with the k\bm{k}-dependent c−fc-f mixing by using the dynamical mean-field theory combined with the exact diagonalization method. It is found that both effects of the k\bm{k}-dependent c−fc-f mixing and strong correlation due to the Coulomb interaction between ff electrons are significant for determining both the magnetization and the mass enhancement factor. For the case away from the half-filling, the results is consistent with the metamagnetic behavior observed in CeRu2_2Si2_2.

Effect of the spin-orbit interaction and the electron phonon coupling on the electronic state in a silicon vacancy

The electronic state around a single vacancy in silicon crystal is investigated by using the Green's function approach. The triply degenerate charge states are found to be widely extended and account for extremely large elastic softening at low temperature as observed in recent ultrasonic experiments. When we include the LS coupling λSiλ_{\rm Si} on each Si atom, the 6-fold spin-orbital degeneracy for the V+V^{+} state with the valence +1 and spin 1/2 splits into Γ7Γ_{7} doublet groundstates and Γ8Γ_{8} quartet excited states with a reduced excited energy of O(λSi/10)O(λ_{\rm Si}/10). We also consider the effect of couplings between electrons and Jahn-Teller phonons in the dangling bonds within the second order perturbation and find that the groundstate becomes Γ8Γ_{8} quartet which is responsible for the magnetic-field suppression of the softening in B-doped silicon.

Orbital Order, Structural Transition and Superconductivity in Iron Pnictides

We investigate the 16-band d-p model for iron pnictide superconductors in the presence of the electron-phonon coupling g with the orthorhombic mode which is crucial for reproducing the recently observed ultrasonic softening. Within the RPA, we obtain the ferro-orbital order below TQ which induces the tetragonal-orthorhombic structural transition at Ts = TQ, together with the stripe-type antiferromagnetic order below TN. Near the phase transitions, the system shows the s++ wave superconductivity due to the orbital fluctuation for a large g case with TQ > TN, while the s+- wave due to the magnetic fluctuation for a small g case with TQ < TN. The former case is consistent with the phase diagram of doped iron pnictides with Ts > TN.

Two types of s-wave pairing due to magnetic and orbital fluctuations in the two-dimensional 16-band d-p model for iron-based superconductors

We study superconductivity in the two-dimensional 16-band d-p model extracted from a tight-binding fit to the band structure of LaFeAsO, using the random phase approximation. When the intraorbital repulsion U is larger than the interorbital one U', an extended s-wave (s+--wave) pairing with sign reversal of order parameter is mediated by antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations, while when U<U' another kind of s-wave (s++-wave) pairing without sign reversal is mediated by ferro-orbital fluctuations. The s++-wave pairing is enhanced due to the electron-phonon coupling and then can be expanded over the realistic parameter region with U>U'.

Quadrupole Susceptibility and Elastic Softening due to a Vacancy in Silicon Crystal

We investigate the electronic states around a single vacancy in silicon crystal by using the Green's function approach. The triply degenerate vacancy states within the band gap are found to be extended over a large distance ∼20A˚\sim20 {\rm Å} from the vacancy site and contribute to the reciprocal temperature dependence of the quadrupole susceptibility resulting in the elastic softening at low temperture. The Curie constant of the quadrupole susceptibility for the trigonal mode (Oyz,Ozx,OxyO_{yz},O_{zx},O_{xy}) is largely enhanced as compared to that for the tetragonal mode (O20,O22O_{2}^{0},O_{2}^{2}). The obtained results are consistent with the recent ultrasonic experiments in silicon crystal down to 20 mK. We also calculate the dipole and octupole susceptibilities and find that the octupole susceptibilities are extremely enhannced for a specific mode.

Phase diagrams of electronic state on One Dimensional d-p Model

We investigate the one-dimensional(1D) d-p model, simulating a Cu-O linear chain with strong Coulomb repulsion, by using the numerical diagonalization method. Using the Luttinger liquid theory, we obtained phase diagrams of the ground state on Ud−UpdU_d-U_{pd} plane, where UdU_d and UpdU_{pd} represent on-site interaction at d-sites and the nearest-neighbor interaction between p- and d-sites respectively. In the weak coupling region, they agree with the g-ology; a superconducting phase (SC(I)) is restricted to attractive interaction Upd<0U_{pd}<0. On the other hand, in the strong coupling region, we found a novel superconducting phase(SC(II)) for repulsive interaction Upd>∣Ud∣U_{pd}>|U_d| and a insulating state with a charge gap for Ud>UdcU_d>U_d^c and Upd>UpdcU_{pd}>U_{pd}^c with critical values UdcU_d^c and UpdcU_{pd}^c at half-filling. Away from half-filling, another superconducting phase (SC(III)) appears for Ud>>Upd>0U_d>>U_{pd}>0; which has been found for Ud→∞U_d\to \infty in the previous paper [Physica {\bf C205} (1993) 170]. An analysis of the spin gap suggests that the SC(I) and SC(II) include the Luther-Emery region (with spin-gap) in part, while the SC(III) belongs to Tomonaga-Luttinger region (without spin-gap) in whole.
