Mirror symmetry for special nilpotent orbit closures

Motivated by geometric Langlands, we initiate a program to study the mirror symmetry between nilpotent orbit closures of a semisimple Lie algebra and those of its Langlands dual. The most interesting case is $B_n$ via $C_n$. Classically, there is a famous Springer duality between special orbits. Therefore, it is natural to speculate that the mirror symmetry we seek may coincide with Springer duality in the context of special orbits. Unfortunately, such a naive statement fails. To remedy the situation, we propose a conjecture which asserts the mirror symmetry for certain parabolic/induced covers of special orbits. Then, we prove the conjecture for Richardson orbits and obtain certain partial results in general. In the process, we reveal some very interesting and yet subtle structures of these finite covers, which are related to Lusztig's canonical quotients of special nilpotent orbits. For example, there is a mysterious asymmetry in the footprint or range of degrees of these finite covers. Finally, we provide two examples to show that the mirror symmetry fails outside the footprint.

Open Gromov-Witten Theory of $K_{\mathbb P^2}, K_{{\mathbb P^1}\times {\mathbb P^1}}, K_{W\mathbb P[1,1,2]}, K_{\mathbb F_1}$ and Jacobi Forms

It was known through the efforts of many works that the generating functions in the closed Gromov-Witten theory of $K_{\mathbb P^2}$ are meromorphic quasi-modular forms basing on the B-model predictions. In this article, we extend the modularity phenomenon to $K_{{\mathbb P^1}\times {\mathbb P^1}}, K_{W\mathbb P[1,1,2]}, K_{\mathbb F_1}$. More importantly, we generalize it to the generating functions in the open Gromov-Witten theory using the theory of Jacobi forms where the open Gromov-Witten parameters are transformed into elliptic variables.

Gromov-Witten Theory of Quotient of Fermat Calabi-Yau varieties

We construct a global B-model for weighted homogeneous polynomials based on K. Saito's theory of primitive forms. Our main motivation is to give a rigorous statement of the so called global mirror symmetry conjecture relating Gromov-Witten invariants and Fan--Jarvis--Ruan--Witten invariants. Furthermore, our construction allows us to generalize the notion of a quasi-modular form and holomorphic anomaly equations. Finally, we prove the global mirror symmetry conjecture for the Fermat polynomials.

Wall-Crossing in Genus Zero Landau-Ginzburg Theory

We study genus zero wall-crossing for a family of moduli spaces introduced recently by Fan-Farvis-Ruan. The family has a wall and chamber structure relative to a positive rational parameter. For a Fermat quasi-homogeneous polynomial W (not necessarily Calabi-Yau type), we study natural generating functions of invariants associated to these moduli spaces. Our wall-crossing formula relates the generating functions by showing that they all lie on the same Lagrangian cone associated to the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory of W. For arbitrarily small parameter, a specialization of our generating function is a hypergeometric series called the big I-function which determines the entire Lagrangian cone. As a special case of our wall-crossing, we obtain a new geometric interpretation of the Landau-Ginzburg mirror theorem.

BCFG Drinfeld-Sokolov Hierarchies and FJRW-Theory

According to the ADE Witten conjecture, which is proved by Fan, Jarvis and Ruan, the total descendant potential of the FJRW invariants of an ADE singularity is a tau function of the corresponding mirror ADE Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy. In the present paper, we show that there is a finite group $Γ$ acting on a certain ADE singularity which induces an action on the corresponding FJRW-theory, and the $Γ$-invariant sector also satisfies the axioms of a cohomological field theory except the gluing loop axiom. On the other hand, we show that there is also a $Γ$-action on the mirror Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy, and the $Γ$-invariant flows yield the BCFG Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy. We prove that the total descendant potential of the $Γ$-invariant sector of a FJRW-theory is a tau function of the corresponding BCFG Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy.

A global mirror symmetry framework for the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence

We show how the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence for the quintic three-fold can be cast into a global mirror symmetry framework. Then we draw inspiration from Berglund-Hübsch mirror duality construction to provide an analogue conjectural picture featuring all Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces within weighted projective spaces and certain quotients by finite abelian group actions.

Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence for quintic three-folds via symplectic transformations

We compute the recently introduced Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory of W-curves in genus zero for quintic polynomials in five variables and we show that it matches the Gromov-Witten genus-zero theory of the quintic three-fold via a symplectic transformation. More specifically, we show that the J-function encoding the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory on the A-side equals via a mirror map the I-function embodying the period integrals at the Gepner point on the B-side. This identification inscribes the physical Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence within the enumerative geometry of moduli of curves, matches the genus-zero invariants computed by the physicists Huang, Klemm, and Quackenbush at the Gepner point, and yields via Givental's quantization a prediction on the relation between the full higher genus potential of the quintic three-fold and that of Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory.

Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence, global mirror symmetry and Orlov equivalence

We show that the Gromov-Witten theory of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces matches, in genus zero and after an analytic continuation, the quantum singularity theory (FJRW theory) recently introduced by Fan, Jarvis and Ruan following ideas of Witten. Moreover, on both sides, we highlight two remarkable integral local systems arising from the common formalism of Gamma-integral structures applied to the derived category of the hypersurface {W=0} and to the category of graded matrix factorizations of W. In this setup, we prove that the analytic continuation matches Orlov equivalence between the two above categories.

Gromov-Witten theory and cycle-valued modular forms

In this paper, we proved generating functions of Gromov-Witten cycles of the elliptic orbifold lines with weights (3,3,3), (4,4,2), and (6,3,2) are cycle-valued quasi-modular forms. This is a generalization of Milanov and Ruan's work on cycle-valued level. First we construct a global cohomology field theory (CohFT) for simple elliptic singularities (modulo an extension problem) and prove its modularity. Then, we apply Teleman's reconstruction theorem to prove mirror theorems on cycled-valued level and match it with a CohFT from Gromov-Witten theory of a corresponding orbifold. This solves the extension property as well as inducing the modularity for a Gromov-Witten CohFT.

The Witten equation, mirror symmetry and quantum singularity theory

For any non-degenerate, quasi-homogeneous hypersurface singularity, we describe a family of moduli spaces, a virtual cycle, and a corresponding cohomological field theory associated to the singularity. This theory is analogous to Gromov-Witten theory and generalizes the theory of r-spin curves, which corresponds to the simple singularity A_{r-1}. We also resolve two outstanding conjectures of Witten. The first conjecture is that ADE-singularities are self-dual; and the second conjecture is that the total potential functions of ADE-singularities satisfy corresponding ADE-integrable hierarchies. Other cases of integrable hierarchies are also discussed.

Gromov-Witten theory of elliptic orbifold P^1 and quasi-modular forms

In this paper we prove that the GW invariants of the elliptic orbifold lines with weights (3,3,3), (4,4,2), and (6,3,2) are quasi-modular forms. Our method is based on Givental's higher genus reconstruction formalism applied to the settings of Saito's Frobenius structures for simple elliptic singularities. Our results are part of a larger project whose goal is to prove the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence for simple elliptic singularities. The correspondence describes a relation between Gromov-Witten theory (of a certain hypersurface) and Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory (of a certain Landau-Ginzburg potential). Roughly, the main statement is that the Saito's Frobenius manifold for simple elliptic singularities has some special points such that locally near these points the Frobenius structure governs one of the two theories. The local part of the correspondence is established in a companion article by M. Krawitz and Y. Shen, while here we describe the global picture.

The Witten equation and its virtual fundamental cycle

We study a system of nonlinear elliptic PDEs associated with a quasi-homogeneous polynomial. These equations were proposed by Witten as the replacement for the Cauchy-Riemann equation in the singularity (Landau-Ginzburg) setting. We introduce a perturbation to the equation and construct a virtual cycle for the moduli space of its solutions. Then, we study the wall-crossing of the deformation of the virtual cycle under perturbation and match it to classical Picard-Lefschetz theory. An extended virtual cycle is obtained for the original equation. Finally, we prove that the extended virtual cycle satisfies a set of axioms similar to those of Gromov-Witten theory and r-spin theory.

LG/CY correspondence: the state space isomorphism

We prove the classical mirror symmetry conjecture for the mirror pairs constructed by Berglund, Hübsch, and Krawitz. Our main tool is a cohomological LG/CY correspondence which provides a degree-preserving isomorphism between the cohomology of finite quotients of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces inside a weighted projective space and the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten state space of the associated Landau-Ginzburg singularity theory.

Quantum Singularity Theory for A_{r-1} and r-Spin Theory

We give a review of the quantum singularity theory of Fan-Jarvis-Ruan and the r-spin theory of Jarvis-Kimura-Vaintrob and describe the work of Abramovich-Jarvis showing that for the singularity A_{r-1} = x^r the stack of A_{r-1}-curves of is canonically isomorphic to the stack of r-spin curves. We prove that the A_{r-1}-theory satisfies all the axioms of Jarvis-Kimura-Vaintrob for an r-spin virtual class. Therefore, the results of Lee, Faber-Shadrin-Zovonkine, and Givental all apply to the A_{r-1}-theory. In particular, this shows that the Witten Integrable Hierarchies Conjecture is true for the A_{r-1}-theory; that is, the total descendant potential function of the A_{r-1}-theory satisfies the r-th Gelfand-Dikii hierarchy.
