Variable Martingale Hardy Spaces and Their Applications in Fourier Analysis

Let $p(\cdot)$ be a measurable function defined on a probability space satisfying $0<p_-:={\rm ess}\inf_{x\in Ω}p(x)\leq {\rm ess}\sup_{x\inΩ}p(x)=:p_+<\infty$. We investigate five types of martingale Hardy spaces $H_{p(\cdot)}$ and $H_{p(\cdot),q}$ and prove their atomic decompositions when each $σ$-algebra $\mathcal F_n$ is generated by countably many atoms. Martingale inequalities and the relation of the different martingale Hardy spaces are proved as application of the atomic decomposition. In order to get these results, we introduce the following condition to replace (generalize) the so-called log-Hölder continuity condition in harmonic analysis: $$ \mathbb P(A)^{p_-(A)-p_+(A)}\leq C_{p(\cdot)} \quad \mbox{ for all atom $A$}. $$ Some applications in Fourier analysis are given by use of the previous results. We generalize the classical results and show that the partial sums of the Walsh-Fourier series converge to the function in norm if $f \in L_{p(\cdot)}$ or $f \in L_{p(\cdot),q}$ and $p_->1$. The boundedness of the maximal Fej{é}r operator on $H_{p(\cdot)}$ and $H_{p(\cdot),q}$ is proved whenever $p_->1/2$ and the condition $\frac{1}{p_-}-\frac{1}{p_+} <1$ hold. It is surprising that this last condition does not appear for trigonometric Fourier series. One of the key points of the proof is that we introduce two new dyadic maximal operators and prove their boundedness on $L_{p(\cdot)}$ with $p_->1$. The method we use to prove these results is new even in the classical case. As a consequence, we obtain theorems about almost everywhere and norm convergence of the Fejér means.

Weighted estimates for the bilinear maximal operator on filtered measure spaces

Assuming the bilinear reverse Holder's condition, we character weighted inequalities for the bilinear maximal operator on filtered measure spaces. We also obtain Hytonen-Perez type weighted estimates for the bilinear maximal operator. Our approaches are mainly based on the new construction of bilinear versions of principal sets and the new Carleson embedding theorem on filtered measure spaces. In particular, we find a new property of the construction and we call it the conditional sparsity of principal sets.

$Φ$-moment inequalities for independent and freely independent random variables

This paper is devoted to the study of $Φ$-moments of sums of independent/freely independent random variables. More precisely, let $(f_k)_{k=1}^n$ be a sequence of positive (symmetrically distributed) independent random variables and let $Φ$ be an Orlicz function with $Δ_2$-condition. We provide an equivalent expression for the quantity $\mathbb{E}(Φ(\sum_{k=1}^n f_k))$ in term of the sum of disjoint copies of the sequence $(f_k)_{k=1}^n.$ We also prove an analogous result in the setting of free probability. Furthermore, we provide an equivalent characterization of $τ(Φ(\sup^+_{1\leq k\leq n}x_k))$ for positive freely independent random variables and also present some new results on free Johnson-Schechtman inequalities in the quasi-Banach symmetric operator space.

Johnson-Schechtman inequalities for noncommutative martingales

In this paper we study Johnson-Schechtman inequalities for noncommutative martingales. More precisely, disjointification inequalities of noncommutative martingale difference sequences are proved in an arbitrary symmetric operator space $E(\mathcal{M})$ of a finite von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M}$ without making any assumption on the Boyd indices of $E$. We show that we can obtain Johnson-Schechtman inequalities for arbitrary martingale difference sequences and that, in contrast with the classical case of independent random variables or the noncommutative case of freely independent random variables, the inequalities are one-sided except when $E=L_2(0,1)$. As an application, we partly resolve a problem stated by Randrianantoanina and Wu in \cite{NW}. We also show that we can obtain sharp $Φ$-moment analogues for Orlicz functions satisfying $p$-convexity and $q$-concavity for $1 \leq p \leq 2$, $q=2$ and $p=2$, $2< q < \infty$. This is new even for the classical case. We also extend and strengthen the noncommutative Burkholder-Gundy inequalities in symmetric spaces and in the $Φ$-moment case.

On fluctuations of traces of large matrices over a non-commutative algebra

The paper investigates the asymptotic behavior of (non-normalized) traces of certain classes of matrices with non-commutative random variables as entries. We show that, unlike in the commutative framework, the asymptotic behavior of matrices with free circular, respectively with Bernoulli distributed Boolean independent entries is described in terms of free, respectively Boolean cumulants. We also present an exemple of relation of monotone independence arising from the study of Boolean independence.

Weak Orlicz-Hardy Martingale Spaces

In this paper, several weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces associated with concave functions are introduced, and some weak atomic decomposition theorems for them are established. With the help of weak atomic decompositions, a sufficient condition for a sublinear operator defined on the weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces to be bounded is given. Further, we investigate the duality of weak Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces and obtain a new John-Nirenberg type inequality when the stochastic basis is regular. These results can be regarded as weak versions of the Orlicz-Hardy martingale spaces due to Miyamoto, Nakai and Sadasue.

Noncommutative weak Orlicz spaces and martingale inequalities

This paper is devoted to the study of noncommutative weak Orlicz spaces and martingale inequalities. Marcinkiewicz interpolation theorem is extended to include noncommutative weak Orlicz spaces as interpolation classes. In particular, we prove the weak type $Φ$-moment Burkholder-Gundy inequality for noncommutative martingales through establishing a weak type $Φ$-moment noncommutative Khintchine's inequality for Rademacher's random variables.
