EPIC-Bench: A Perception-Centric Benchmark for Fine-Grained Embodied Visual Grounding in Vision-Language Models

While large vision-language models (VLMs) are increasingly adopted as the perceptual backbone for embodied agents, existing benchmarks often rely on question-answering or multiple-choice formats. These protocols allow models to exploit linguistic priors rather than demonstrating genuine visual grounding. To address this, we present EPIC-Bench, Embodied PerceptIon BenChmark, a fine-grained grounding benchmark designed to systematically evaluate the visual perceptual capabilities of VLMs in real-world embodied environments. Comprising 6.6k meticulously annotated tuples (Image, Text, Mask), EPIC-Bench spans 23 fine-grained tasks across three core stages of the embodied interaction pipeline: Target Localization, Navigation, and Manipulation. Extensive evaluations of over 89 leading VLMs reveal that while advanced reasoning models show promise, current VLMs universally struggle with complex visual-text alignment for physical interactions. Specifically, models exhibit critical bottlenecks in multi-target counting, part-whole relationship understanding, and affordance region detection. EPIC-Bench provides a robust foundation and actionable insights for advancing the next generation of vision-driven embodied models.

MOC-3D: Manifold-Order Consistency for Text-to-3D Generation

With the burgeoning development of fields such as the Metaverse, Virtual Reality (VR), and Digital Twins, text-to-3D generation has emerged as a research hotspot in both academia and industry. Currently, optimization methods based on Score Distillation Sampling (SDS) utilizing 2D diffusion priors have become the mainstream technological paradigm in this field. However, due to the view bias of 2D priors and the mode-seeking ambiguity combined with gradient noise induced by high Classifier-Free Guidance (CFG), these methods still suffer from macro-topological inconsistency (e.g., the Janus problem) and micro-geometric discontinuity. To address these challenges, we propose MOC-3D, a text-to-3D generation method based on geometric manifold and semantic view-order consistency. Built upon the ScaleDreamer framework, our method incorporates a Semantic View-Order Constraint Module and a Manifold-based Feature Continuity Module. The former aims to rectify macro-topological inconsistency, while the latter focuses on eliminating micro-geometric discontinuity. Specifically, the Semantic View-Order Constraint Module leverages the prior knowledge of CLIP to impose a Monotonicity Rank Constraint on semantic score representations across different views, thereby providing effective guidance for the global topological structure of 3D objects. Meanwhile, the Manifold-based Feature Continuity Module employs the Riemannian Metric on the Symmetric Positive Definite (SPD) manifold. By measuring the distance of feature statistical distributions in the Riemannian space, it promotes the smooth evolution and continuity of micro-textures across multi-views in a statistical sense. Under the macro-micro synergistic optimization of these two modules, our model can simultaneously improve macro-structural consistency and micro-detail continuity.

When 2D Tasks Meet 1D Serialization: On Serialization Friction in Structured Tasks

Large language models (LLMs) conventionally process structured inputs as 1D token sequences. While natural for prose, such linearization may introduce additional representational burden for tasks whose computation depends directly on explicit 2D structure, because row--column alignment and local neighborhoods are no longer directly expressed in the input. We study this setting, which we refer to as serialization friction, on a small diagnostic testbed of synthetic tasks with explicit 2D structure: matrix transpose, Conway's Game of Life, and LU decomposition. To examine this question, we compare a text-only language pathway over serialized inputs with a vision-augmented pathway, built on the same language backbone, that receives the same underlying content rendered in task-faithful 2D layout, yielding a system-level comparison between two end-to-end input pathways. Across the tasks and settings we study, the visual pathway consistently outperforms the textual pathway; the gap often widens at larger dimensions, and error patterns under serialization become increasingly spatially structured. These findings indicate that the relationship between input representation and model performance on such tasks warrants further investigation, and suggest that preserving task-relevant 2D layout is a promising direction for structured 2D tasks.
