Extensive manipulation of transition rates and substantial population inversion of rotating atoms inside a cavity

We investigate the transition rates of a centripetally accelerated atom inside a high-quality cavity and show that they can be extensively tuned by adjusting the cavity resonance and the rotation frequency. Crucially, while inertial atoms cannot be excited in vacuum, rotation induces spontaneous excitation via the circular Unruh effect, with the cavity serving only as an amplifier. Using experimentally feasible parameters, we demonstrate that, in one scenario, the excitation rate can reach $\sim 10^7~\mathrm{s}^{-1}$ while emission remains negligible, enabling substantial population inversion. In another scenario, both excitation and emission can simultaneously attain $\sim 10^7~\mathrm{s}^{-1}$, corresponding to millions of transitions per second for a single atom. These findings highlight a powerful method for manipulating atomic transition rates for quantum applications and open a promising route toward experimental verification of the circular Unruh effect with state-of-the-art quantum technologies.

Analytical investigations on the Maxwell electromagnetic invariant in the spinning and charged horizonless star background

We study properties of the Maxwell electromagnetic invariant in the external region of spinning and charged horizonless stars. We analytically find that the minimum negative value of the Maxwell electromagnetic invariant is obtained on the equator of the star surface. We are interested in scalar fields non-minimally coupled to the Maxwell electromagnetic invariant. The negative enough Maxwell electromagnetic invariant can lead to a negative effective mass term, which forms a binding potential well for the scalar field. It means that the scalar field coupled to the Maxwell electromagnetic invariant may mostly exist around the surface of the star on the equator.

A no-go theorem for scalar fields with couplings from Ginzburg-Landau models

Recently Hod proved a no-go theorem that static scalar fields cannot form spherically symmetric boson stars in the asymptotically flat background. On the other side, scalar fields can be coupled to the gradient according to next-to-leading order Ginzburg-Landau models. In the present work, we extend Hod's discussions by considering couplings between static scalar fields and the field gradient. For a non-negative coupling parameter, we show that there is no asymptotically flat spherically symmetric boson stars made of coupled static scalar fields.

No scalar condensations outside reflecting stars with coupling terms from Ginzburg-Landau models

We consider static scalar fields coupled to the gradient where the coupling also appears in next-to-leading order Ginzburg-Landau models. We study condensation behaviors of scalar fields outside regular compact reflecting stars in the asymptotically flat background. For non-negative coupling parameters, we prove that the reflecting star cannot support coupled static scalar fields.

Analytical investigations on formations of hairy neutral reflecting shells in the scalar-Gauss-Bonnet gravity

We study scalarization of spherically symmetric neutral reflecting shells in the scalar-tensor gravity. We consider neutral static massless scalar fields non-minimally coupled to the Gauss-Bonnet invariant. We obtain a relation representing the existence regime of hairy neutral reflecting shells. For parameters unsatisfying this relation, the massless scalar field cannot exist outside the neutral reflecting shell. In the parameter region where this relation holds, we get analytical solutions of scalar field hairs outside neutral reflecting shells.

No-go theorem for static boson stars with negative cosmological constants

In a recent paper, Hod has proven no-go theorem for asymptotically flat static regular boson stars. In the present work, we extend discussions to the gravity with a negative cosmological constant. We consider a scalar field vanishing at infinity. In the asymptotically AdS background, we show that spherically symmetric regular boson stars cannot be constructed with self-gravitating static scalar fields, whose potential is positive semidefinite and increases with respect to its argument.

Scalarization of horizonless reflecting stars: neutral scalar fields non-minimally coupled to Maxwell fields

We analyze condensation behaviors of neutral scalar fields outside horizonless reflecting stars in the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar gravity. It was known that minimally coupled neutral scalar fields cannot exist outside horizonless reflecting stars. In this work, we consider non-minimal couplings between scalar fields and Maxwell fields, which is included to aim to trigger formations of scalar hairs. We analytically demonstrate that there is no hair theorem for small coupling parameters below a bound. For large coupling parameters above the bound, we numerically obtain regular scalar hairy configurations supported by horizonless reflecting stars.

Spontaneous scalarization of Gauss-Bonnet black holes surrounded by massive scalar fields

For massless scalar fields, a relation $Δ_{n}=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}π$ for $n\rightarrow \infty$ was observed in the scalar-Gauss-Bonnet theory. In the present paper, we extend the discussion by including a nonzero scalar field mass. For massive scalar fields, we show that the relation $Δ_{n}=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}π$ for $n\rightarrow \infty$ still holds. We demonstrate this relation with both analytical and numerical methods. The analytical analysis implies that this relation may be a very universal behavior.

Upper bounds on the compactness at the innermost light ring of anisotropic horizonless spheres

In the background of isotropic horizonless spheres, Hod recently provided an analytical proof of a bound on the compactness at the innermost light ring with the dominant energy and non-negative trace conditions. In this work, we extend the discussion of isotropic spheres to anisotropic spheres. With the same dominant energy and non-negative trace conditions, we prove that Hod's bound also holds in the case of anisotropic horizonless spheres.

Holographic insulator/superconductor transitions in the three dimensional AdS soliton

We investigate the holographic description of a superconductor constructed in the (2+1)-dimensional AdS soliton background in the probe limit. We study the holographic properties through both analytical and numerical methods. With analytical methods, we are the first to obtain the exact formula for critical phase transition points as $μ_{c}=1+\sqrt{1+m^2}$. Around the transition points, we find a correspondence between the value of the scalar field at the tip and the scalar operator at infinity. We also generalize the front properties to holographic models in higher dimensional AdS soliton spacetime. Moreover, we examine effects of the scalar mass on stability of phase transitions with numerical methods. With $m^{2}\in (-0.38,0]$, we arrive at the classical second order insulator/superconductor phase transition. Surprisingly, there is no stable superconducting phases in cases of $m^{2}\in (-1,-0.38]$. In other words, superconductor only exists in a certain range of the scalar mass in the (2+1)-dimensional AdS soliton spacetime, which is very different from properties in other spacetime.

A general holographic metal/superconductor phase transition model

We study the scalar condensation of a general holographic superconductor model in AdS black hole background away from the probe limit. We find the model parameters together with the scalar mass and backreaction can determine the order of phase transitions completely. In addition, we observe two types of discontinuities of the scalar operator in the case of first order phase transitions. We analyze in detail the effects of the scalar mass and backreaction on the formation of discontinuities and arrive at an approximate relation between the threshold model parameters. Furthermore, we obtain superconductor solutions corresponding to higher energy states and examine the stability of these superconductor solutions.

Extending ACL2 with SMT Solvers

We present our extension of ACL2 with Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) solvers using ACL2's trusted clause processor mechanism. We are particularly interested in the verification of physical systems including Analog and Mixed-Signal (AMS) designs. ACL2 offers strong induction abilities for reasoning about sequences and SMT complements deduction methods like ACL2 with fast nonlinear arithmetic solving procedures. While SAT solvers have been integrated into ACL2 in previous work, SMT methods raise new issues because of their support for a broader range of domains including real numbers and uninterpreted functions. This paper presents Smtlink, our clause processor for integrating SMT solvers into ACL2. We describe key design and implementation issues and describe our experience with its use.

Holographic entanglement entropy in superconductor phase transition with dark matter sector

In this paper, we investigate the holographic phase transition with dark matter sector in the AdS black hole background away from the probe limit. We disclose the properties of phases mostly from the holographic topological entanglement entropy of the system. We find the entanglement entropy is a good probe to the critical temperature and the order of the phase transition in the general model. The behaviors of entanglement entropy at large strip size suggest that the area law still holds with dark matter sector. We also conclude that the holographic topological entanglement entropy is useful in detecting the stability of the phase transitions. Furthermore, we derive the complete diagram of the effects of coupled parameters on the critical temperature through the entanglement entropy and analytical methods.

Pilot Reuse for Massive MIMO Transmission over Spatially Correlated Rayleigh Fading Channels

We propose pilot reuse (PR) in single cell for massive multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission to reduce the pilot overhead. For spatially correlated Rayleigh fading channels, we establish a relationship between channel spatial correlations and channel power angle spectrum when the base station antenna number tends to infinity. With this channel model, we show that sum mean square error (MSE) of channel estimation can be minimized provided that channel angle of arrival intervals of the user terminals reusing the pilots are non-overlapping, which shows feasibility of PR over spatially correlated massive MIMO channels with constrained channel angular spreads. Regarding that channel estimation performance might degrade due to PR, we also develop the closed-form robust multiuser uplink receiver and downlink precoder that minimize sum MSE of signal detection, and reveal a duality between them. Subsequently, we investigate pilot scheduling, which determines the PR pattern, under two minimum MSE related criteria, and propose a low complexity pilot scheduling algorithm which relies on the channel statistics only. Simulation results show that the proposed PR scheme provides significant performance gains over the conventional orthogonal training scheme in terms of net spectral efficiency.

Holographic entanglement entropy in general holographic superconductor models

We study the entanglement entropy of general holographic dual models both in AdS soliton and AdS black hole backgrounds with full backreaction. We find that the entanglement entropy is a good probe to explore the properties of the holographic superconductors and provides richer physics in the phase transition. We obtain the effects of the scalar mass, model parameter and backreaction on the entropy, and argue that the jump of the entanglement entropy may be a quite general feature for the first order phase transition. In strong contrast to the insulator/superconductor system, we note that the backreaction coupled with the scalar mass can not be used to trigger the first order phase transition if the model parameter is below its bottom bound in the metal/superconductor system.

Gauss-Bonnet holographic superconductors in Born-Infeld electrodynamics with backreactions

We develop a general holographic superconductor away from the probe limit by considering the corrections both in the gravity and in the gauge matter fields. We find the consistent effects of the high curvature correction in the gravity, the nonlinear correction in the gauge matter field and the backreaction on the dynamics of bulk AdS background and boundary CFT. They all have the effect to protect the stability of the bulk spacetime and hinder the formation of the scalar hair condensation on the boundary.

Phase transition in the holographic model of superfluidity with backreactions

In the fully back reacted geometry we develop a supercurrent solution which corresponds to a deformation of superconducting black holes by the spatial component of gauge fields with a non- trivial radial dependence. We investigate the influence of the backreaction on the condensation and the phase structure in the AdS black hole spacetime. Different from that observed in the probe limit, we find that two operators cannot give consistent information on the phase diagram. We argue that only one of these two operators can reflect the real property of the condensation and phase structure in the holographic superconductor. We also generalize our study to the associated phase diagram in the AdS soliton background.

Various types of phase transitions in the AdS soliton background

We study the basic holographic insulator and superconductor phase transition in the AdS soliton background by generalizing the spontaneous breaking of a global U(1) symmetry to occur via St$\ddot{u}$ckelberg mechanism. We construct the soliton solutions with backreaction and examine the effects of the backreaction on the condensation of the scalar hair in the generalized St$\ddot{u}$ckelberg Lagrangian. We disclose rich physics in various phase transitions. In addition to the AdS soliton configuration, we also examine the property of the phase transition in the AdS black hole background.
