Bounce corrections to gravitational lensing, quasinormal spectral stability and gray-body factors of Reissner-Nordström black holes

Gravitational lensing in the weak field limit, quasinormal spectra, and gray-body factors are investigated in the Reissner-Nordström spacetime corrected by bounce parameters. Using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, we analyze the effects of bounce corrections to the weak gravitational deflection angle and find that the divergence of the deflection angle can be suppressed by a bounce correction in the Reissner-Nordström spacetime. We also notice that the bounce correction plays the same role as the Morse potential in the deflection angle. Moreover, we derive the perturbation equations with the spin-dependent Regge-Wheeler potential and discuss the quasinormal spectral stability. We observe that the quasinormal spectra decrease for both the massless scalar and electromagnetic field perturbations. We further study the transmission probability of particles scattered by the Regge-Wheeler potential and reveal that the bounce correction introduced into the Reissner-Nordström spacetime increases the gray-body factors of perturbation fields.

Acoustic regular black hole in fluid and its similarity and diversity to a conformally related black hole

We address an interesting question in the present paper that whether the acoustic gravity can be applied as a tool to the study of regular black holes. For this purpose, we construct a general acoustic regular black hole in the spherically symmetric fluid, where its regularity is verified from the perspective of finiteness of curvature invariants and completeness of geodesics. In particular, we find that the acoustic interval not only looks like a line element of a conformally related black hole in which the fluid density can be regarded as a conformal factor, but also gives rise to a non-vanishing partition function which coincides with that of a conformally related black hole. As an application, we provide a specific acoustic regular black hole model, investigate its energy conditions and compute its quasinormal modes. We note that the strong energy condition of our model is violated completely outside the horizon of the model but remains valid in some regions inside the horizon, which may give a new insight into the relation between the regularity and strong energy condition. Moreover, we analyze the oscillating and damping features of our model when it is perturbed.

Charged black-bounce spacetimes: Photon rings, shadows and observational appearances

The photon ring, shadow and observational appearance of the emission originating near a charged black-bounce are investigated. Based on the geodesic analysis, we determine the upper and lower limits of critical impact parameters of a charged black-bounce. In particular, we find that the charged black-bounce shares the same critical impact parameter with the Reissner-Nordstöm black hole. In addition, we classify the light trajectories coming from the region near the charged black-bounce by utilizing the rays tracing procedure, and then investigate the observational appearance of the emissions from a thin disk accretion and a spherically symmetric infalling accretion. We reveal that a large charge increases the observed intensity but decreases the apparent size of shadows, and that the photon ring presents the intrinsic property of a spacetime geometry, which is independent of the types of the two accretions. Our results are in good agreement with the recent observations.

Higher-dimensional regular Reissner-Nordström black holes associated with linear electrodynamics

Following the interpretation of matter source that the energy-momentum tensor of anisotropic fluid can be dealt with effectively as the energy-momentum tensor of perfect fluid plus linear (Maxwell) electromagnetic field, we obtain the regular higher-dimensional Reissner-Nordström (Tangherlini-RN) solution by starting with the noncommutative geometry inspired Schwarzschild solution. Using the boundary conditions that connect the noncommutative Schwarzschild solution in the interior of the charged perfect fluid sphere to the Tangherlini-RN solution in the exterior of the sphere, we find that the interior structure can be reflected by the exterior parameter, the charge-to-mass ratio. Moreover, we investigate the stability of the boundary under mass perturbation and indicate that the new interpretation imposes a rigid restriction upon the charge-to-mass ratio. This restriction, in turn, permits a stable noncommutative black hole only in the 4-dimensional spacetime.

The generalized holographic $c$-function for regular AdS black holes

We use the causal horizon entropy to study the asymptotic behaviors of regular AdS black holes. In some literature, the causal horizon entropy is regarded as a generalized holographic $c$-function. In this paper, we apply this idea to the case of regular AdS black holes. We show that the causal horizon entropy decreases to zero at the center of regular AdS black holes and in particular it is stationary because its derivative with respect to the affine parameter approaches zero asymptotically. Meanwhile, the asymptotic behavior of the metric of regular AdS black holes implies that the black hole center corresponds to an IR fixed point. Therefore, we conclude that the causal horizon entropy is a valid candidate for the holographic $c$-function of these regular AdS black holes.

Weinhold geometry and thermodynamics of Bardeen AdS black holes

Thermodynamics of Bardeen AdS black holes has attracted a great deal of attentions due to its intrinsic complications and rich phase structures. However, the entropy and thermodynamic volume are incorrect in some literatures. In this paper we revisit the thermodynamics of Bardeen AdS black holes and provide the correct entropy and thermodynamic volume. Furthermore, thermodynamic geometries are a powerful tool to probe the microstructure of black holes. Based on the Hessian matrix of black hole mass, we introduce a thermodynamic metric and give its scalar curvature in Weinhold's geometry. The conformal relation between Weinhold's geometry and Ruppeiner's geometry will be changed due to the specific first law of thermodynamics for regular black holes like the Bardeen AdS black hole. We also investigate the critical behaviour of phase transitions in an extended phase space, and find that the critical behaviour of the Bardeen AdS black hole coincides with that of liquid-gas systems. In particular, based on the Weinhold geometry we unveil a repulsive interaction in the microstructure of the Bardeen AdS black hole under its small volume state, while it is known that only attractive interaction exists in the microstructure of the van der Waals fluid.

Can shadows connect black hole microstructures?

We investigate the relationship between shadow radii (photosphere radii) and black hole microstructures for a static spherically symmetric black hole and confirm their close connection. As a concrete analysis, we take the Reissner-Nordstr$\mathrm{\ddot{o}}$m AdS black hole surrounded by perfect fluid dark matter (RN AdS black hole surrounded by PFDM) as an example. We calculate the Ruppeiner thermodynamic scalar curvature and shadow radius (photosphere radius) for the specific model. On the one hand, we find that the greater density of the perfect fluid dark matter makes black hole molecules more likely have attractive interactions. On the other hand, we provide the support to our general investigation that the shadow radii (photosphere radii) indeed connect the microstructures of this model.

Quasinormal Modes and Thermodynamics of Regular Black Holes

By applying the dimensionless scheme, we investigate the quasinormal modes and phase transitions analytically for three types of regular black holes. The universal deviations to the first law of mechanics in regular black holes are proved. Meanwhile, we verify that second order phase transitions and Davies points still exist in these three models. In addition, we calculate their quasinormal modes in the eikonal limit by applying the light ring/quasinormal mode correspondence, and discuss the spiral-like shapes and the relations between the quasinormal modes and phase transitions. As the main result, we show that spiral-like shapes in the complex frequency plane are closely related to the parameterization, namely in some particular units the spiral-like shapes will emerge in the models, which may not be of the spiral behaviors reported by other authors. We also discover a universal property of regular black holes, i.e., the imaginary parts of their QNMs do not vanish for the extreme cases, which does not appear in singular black holes, such as the Reissner-Nordström and Kerr black holes, etc.

Quasinormal mode and spectroscopy of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by a cloud of strings in Rastall gravity

We obtain the solution of a static spherically symmetric black hole surrounded by a cloud of strings in Rastall gravity and study the influence of the parameter $a$ associated with strings on the event horizon and the Hawking temperature. Through analyzing the black hole metric, we find that the static spherically symmetric black hole solution surrounded by a cloud of strings in Rastall gravity can be transformed into the static spherically symmetric black hole solution surrounded by quintessence in Einstein gravity when the parameter $β$ of Rastall gravity is positive, which provides a possibility for the string fluid to be a candidate of dark energy. We use the method of Regge and Wheeler together with the high order WKB-Padé approximation to calculate the quasinormal mode frequencies of the odd parity gravitational perturbation and simultaneously apply the unstable null geodesics of black holes to compute the quasinormal mode frequencies at the eikonal limit for this black hole model. The results show that the increase of the parameter $a$ makes the gravitational wave decay slowly in Rastall gravity. In addition, we utilize two methods, which are based on the adiabatic invariant integral and the periodic property of outgoing waves, respectively, to derive the area spectrum and entropy spectrum of the black hole model. The results show that the area spectrum and entropy spectrum are equidistant spaced. The former is same as the case of Einstein gravity, while the latter is different, depending on the Rastall parameter $β$.

Quasinormal mode and stability of optical black holes in moving dielectrics

We study the quasinormal mode and stability of optical black holes in moving dielectrics. The results show that the real part of complex frequencies is inversely proportional to but the absolute value of an imaginary part is proportional to a refractive index. We obtain the conditions for forming a black hole horizon in moving dielectrics. Moreover, we investigate the evolution behavior of optical black holes with respect to a refractive index at a high overtone number and find that an optical black hole undergoes one phase transition from an unstable mode to a stable one when the refractive index is big enough.

Scalar quasinormal modes of black holes in Einstein-Yang-Mills gravity

Quasinormal modes of a scalar field perturbation are investigated in the background spacetime of Einstein-Yang-Mills black holes. The logarithmic term in the metric function of the five-dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills black hole eliminates the divergence of the Hawking temperature but maintains the charge-dependent behavior of the quasinormal modes. The real and imaginary parts of quasinormal mode frequencies have the same charge-dependent behavior in different dimensions. Similar to the case of high dimensional Schwarzschild black holes, a compact approximate relation, $ω_{\rm R}\sim D/r_{+}$, also exists between the real part of the quasinormal mode frequencies $ω_{\rm R}$ and the number of dimensions $D$ in the higher than five dimensional Einstein-Yang-Mills black holes.

Investigation of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians in the Heisenberg picture

The Heisenberg picture for non-Hermitian but $η$-pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian systems is suggested. If a non-Hermitian but $η$-pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian leads to real second order equations of motion, though their first order Heisenberg equations of motion are complex, we can construct a Hermitian counterpart that gives the same second order equations of motion. In terms of a similarity transformation we verify the iso-spectral property of the Hermitian and non-Hermitian Hamiltonians and obtain the related eigenfunctions. This feature can be used to determine real eigenvalues for such non-Hermitian Hamiltonian systems. As an application, two new non-Hermitian Hamiltonians are constructed and investigated, where one is non-Hermitian and non-PT-symmetric and the other is non-Hermitian but PT-symmetric. Moreover, the complementarity and compatibility between our treatment and the PT symmetry are discussed.

Self-regular black holes quantized by means of an analogue to hydrogen atoms

We suggest a quantum black hole model that is based on an analogue to hydrogen atoms. A self-regular Schwarzschild-AdS black hole is investigated, where the mass density of the extreme black hole is given by the probability density of the ground state of hydrogen atoms and the mass densities of non-extreme black holes are given by the probability densities of excited states with no angular momenta. Such an analogue is inclined to adopt quantization of black hole horizons. In this way, the total mass of black holes is quantized. Furthermore, the quantum hoop conjecture and the Correspondence Principle are discussed.

Thermodynamics of Horndeski black holes with non-minimal derivative coupling

We explore thermodynamic properties of a new class of Horndeski black holes whose action contains a non-minimal kinetic coupling of a massless real scalar and the Einstein tensor. Our treatment is based on the well-accepted consideration, where the cosmological constant is dealt with as thermodynamic pressure and the mass of black holes as thermodynamic enthalpy. We resort to a newly introduced intensive thermodynamic variable, i.e., the coupling strength of the scalar and tensor whose dimension is length square, and thus yield both the generalized first law of thermodynamics and the generalized Smarr relation. Our result indicates that this class of Horndeski black holes presents rich thermodynamic behaviors and critical phenomena. Especially in the case of the presence of an electric field, these black holes undergo two phase transitions. Once the charge parameter exceeds its critical value, or the cosmological parameter does not exceed its critical value, no phase transitions happen and the black holes are stable. As a by-product, we point out that the coupling strength acts as the thermodynamic pressure in the behavior of thermodynamics.

Thermodynamics of noncommutative high-dimensional AdS black holes with non-Gaussian smeared matter distributions

Considering non-Gaussian smeared matter distributions, we investigate thermodynamic behaviors of the noncommutative high-dimensional Schwarzschild-Tangherlini anti-de Sitter black hole, and obtain the condition for the existence of extreme black holes. We indicate that the Gaussian smeared matter distribution, which is a special case of non-Gaussian smeared matter distributions, is not applicable for the 6- and higher-dimensional black holes due to the hoop conjecture. In particular, the phase transition is analyzed in detail. Moreover, we point out that the Maxwell equal area law maintains for the noncommutative black hole whose Hawking temperature is within a specific range, but fails for that whose the Hawking temperature is beyond this range.

Maximally localized states and quantum corrections of black hole thermodynamics in the framework of a new generalized uncertainty principle

As a generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) leads to the effects of the minimal length of the order of the Planck scale and UV/IR mixing, some significant physical concepts and quantities are modified or corrected correspondingly. On the one hand, we derive the maximally localized states --- the physical states displaying the minimal length uncertainty associated with a new GUP proposed in our previous work. On the other hand, in the framework of this new GUP we calculate quantum corrections to the thermodynamic quantities of the Schwardzschild black hole, such as the Hawking temperature, the entropy, and the heat capacity, and give a remnant mass of the black hole at the end of the evaporation process. Moreover, we compare our results with that obtained in the frameworks of several other GUPs. In particular, we observe a significant difference between the situations with and without the consideration of the UV/IR mixing effect in the quantum corrections to the evaporation rate and the decay time. That is, the decay time can greatly be prolonged in the former case, which implies that the quantum correction from the UV/IR mixing effect may give rise to a radical rather than a tiny influence to the Hawking radiation.

A possible method for non-Hermitian and non-$PT$-symmetric Hamiltonian systems

A possible method to investigate non-Hermitian Hamiltonians is suggested through finding a Hermitian operator $η_+$ and defining the annihilation and creation operators to be $η_+$-pseudo-Hermitian adjoint to each other. The operator $η_+$ represents the $η_+$-pseudo-Hermiticity of Hamiltonians. As an example, a non-Hermitian and non-$PT$-symmetric Hamiltonian with imaginary linear coordinate and linear momentum terms is constructed and analyzed in detail. The operator $η_+$ is found, based on which, a real spectrum and a positive-definite inner product, together with the probability explanation of wave functions, the orthogonality of eigenstates, and the unitarity of time evolution, are obtained for the non-Hermitian and non-$PT$-symmetric Hamiltonian. Moreover, this Hamiltonian turns out to be coupled when it is extended to the canonical noncommutative space with noncommutative spatial coordinate operators and noncommutative momentum operators as well. Our method is applicable to the coupled Hamiltonian. Then the first and second order noncommutative corrections of energy levels are calculated, and in particular the reality of energy spectra, the positive-definiteness of inner products, and the related properties (the probability explanation of wave functions, the orthogonality of eigenstates, and the unitarity of time evolution) are found not to be altered by the noncommutativity.

All-Loop Renormalizable Wess-Zumino Model on Bosonic-Fermionic Noncommutative Superspace

We generalize the ordinary Wess-Zumino model to the Bosonic-Fermionic noncommutative (BFNC) superspace and study its renormalization. In our previous work that can be regarded as the key foundation of the present paper, we have proved that the BFNC Wess-Zumino model with the real mass and interacting constant is one-loop renormalizable up to the second order of BFNC parameters. Based on the result obtained, in the present paper we modify the one-loop renormalizable BFNC Wess-Zumino model by generalizing the mass and interacting constant to complex numbers, introduce the U(1)_{R} R-symmetry and U(1)_Φ flavor symmetry in the modified model, analyze possible divergent operators in the effective action of the modified model by using the dimensional analysis method, and further give a new BFNC Wess-Zumino model that is renormalizable at all loops still up to the second order of BFNC parameters by imposing symmetries rather than doing a direct perturbative investigation.

Energy Spectrum and Phase Transition of Superfluid Fermi Gas of Atoms on Noncommutative Space

Based on the Bogoliubov non-ideal gas model, we discuss the energy spectrum and phase transition of the superfluid Fermi gas of atoms with a weak attractive interaction on the canonical noncommutative space. Because the interaction of a BCS-type superfluid Fermi gas originates from a pair of Fermionic quasi-particles with opposite momenta and spins, the Hamiltonian of the Fermi gas on the noncommutative space can be described in terms of the ordinary creation and annihilation operators related to the commutative space, while the noncommutative effect appears only in the coefficients of the interacting Hamiltonian. As a result, we can rigorously solve the energy spectrum of the Fermi gas on the noncommutative space exactly following the way adopted on the commutative space without the use of perturbation theory. In particular, different from the previous results on the noncommutative degenerate electron gas and superconductor where only the first order corrections of the ground state energy level and energy gap were derived, we obtain the nonperturbative energy spectrum for the noncommutative superfluid Fermi gas, and find that each energy level contains a corrected factor of cosine function of noncommutative parameters. In addition, our result shows that the energy gap becomes narrow and the critical temperature of phase transition from a superfluid state to an ordinary fluid state decreases when compared with that in the commutative case.

Interpretation of the Cosmological Constant Problem within the Framework of Generalized Uncertainty Principle

We propose an improved exponential Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) by introducing a positive integer $n$ called the suppressing index. Due to the UV/IR mixing brought by the GUP, the states with momenta smaller than the critical momentum ($P < P_{\rm Crit}$) are canceled by the states with momenta larger than the critical momentum ($P > P_{\rm Crit}$) and thus have no contributions to the energy density of the vacuum. By considering the contributions just from the states with momenta larger than the critical momentum ($P > P_{\rm Crit}$) and choosing a suitable suppressing index, $n \sim 10^{123}$, we calculate the cosmological constant consistent with the experimentally observed value.

One-Loop Renormalizable Wess-Zumino Model on Bosonic-Fermionic Noncommutative Superspace

We construct a deformed Wess-Zumino model on the noncommutative superspace where the Bosonic and Fermionic coordinates are no longer commutative with each other. Using the background field method, we calculate the primary one-loop effective action based on the deformed action. By comparing the two actions, we find that the deformed Wess-Zumino model is not renormalizable. To obtain a renormalizable model, we combine the primary one-loop effective action with the deformed action, and then calculate the secondary one-loop effective action based on the combined action. After repeating this process to the third time, we finally give the one-loop renormalizable action up to the second order of Bosonic-Fermionic noncommutative parameters by using our specific techniques of calculation.

Thermodynamic approach to field equations in Lovelock gravity and f(R) gravity revisited

The first law of thermodynamics at black hole horizons is known to be obtainable from the gravitational field equations. A recent study claims that the contributions at inner horizons should be considered in order to give the conventional first law of black hole thermodynamics. Following this method, we revisit the thermodynamic aspects of field equations in the Lovelock gravity and f(R) gravity by focusing on two typical classes of charged black holes in the two theories.

Interacting Theory of Chiral Bosons and Gauge Fields on Noncommutative Extended Minkowski Spacetime

Several interacting models of chiral bosons and gauge fields are investigated on the noncommutative extended Minkowski spacetime which was recently proposed from a new point of view of disposing noncommutativity. The models include the bosonized chiral Schwinger model, the generalized chiral Schwinger model (GCSM) and its gauge invariant formulation. We establish the Lagrangian theories of the models, and then derive the Hamilton's equations in accordance with the Dirac's method and solve the equations of motion, and further analyze the self-duality of the Lagrangian theories in terms of the parent action approach.

Quantum tunneling and spectroscopy of noncommutative inspired Kerr black hole

We discuss the thermodynamics of the noncommutative inspired Kerr black hole by means of a reformulated Hamilton-Jacobi method and a dimensional reduction technique. In order to investigate the effect of the angular momentum of the tunneling particle, we calculate the wave function to the first order of the WKB ansatz. Then, using a density matrix technique we derive the radiation spectrum from which the radiation temperature can be read out. Our results show that the radiation of this noncommutative inspired black hole corresponds to a modified temperature which involves the effect of noncommutativity. However, the angular momentum of the tunneling particle has no influence on the radiation temperature. Moreover, we analyze the entropy spectrum and verify that its quantization is modified neither by the noncommutativity of spacetime nor by the quantum correction of wave functions.

Spontaneous breaking of permutation symmetry in pseudo-Hermitian quantum mechanics

By adding an imaginary interacting term proportional to ip_1p_2 to the Hamiltonian of a free anisotropic planar oscillator, we construct a new model which is described by the PT-pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian with the permutation symmetry of two dimensions. We prove that our model is equivalent to the Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillator and thus establish a relationship between our PT-pseudo-Hermitian system and the fourth-order derivative oscillator model. We also point out the spontaneous breaking of permutation symmetry which plays a crucial role in giving a real spectrum free of interchange of positive and negative energy levels in our model. Moreover, we find that the permutation symmetry of two dimensions in our Hamiltonian corresponds to the identity (not in magnitude but in attribute) of two different frequencies in the Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillator, and reveal that the unequal-frequency condition imposed as a prerequisite upon the Pais-Uhlenbeck oscillator can reasonably be explained as the spontaneous breaking of this identity.

The coordinate coherent states approach revisited

We revisit the coordinate coherent states approach through two different quantization procedures in the quantum field theory on the noncommutative Minkowski plane. The first procedure, which is based on the normal commutation relation between an annihilation and creation operators, deduces that a point mass can be described by a Gaussian function instead of the usual Dirac delta function. However, we argue this specific quantization by adopting the canonical one (based on the canonical commutation relation between a field and its conjugate momentum) and show that a point mass should still be described by the Dirac delta function, which implies that the concept of point particles is still valid when we deal with the noncommutativity by following the coordinate coherent states approach. In order to investigate the dependence on quantization procedures, we apply the two quantization procedures to the Unruh effect and Hawking radiation and find that they give rise to significantly different results. Under the first quantization procedure, the Unruh temperature and Unruh spectrum are not deformed by noncommutativity, but the Hawking temperature is deformed by noncommutativity while the radiation specturm is untack. However, under the second quantization procedure, the Unruh temperature and Hawking temperature are untack but the both spectra are modified by an effective greybody (deformed) factor.

Anisotropic oscillator with pseudo-hermiticity and its noncommutative extension

When a non-hermitian hamiltonian has a certain symmetry, such as the PT pseudo-hermiticity, it is still possible that the hamiltonian has a real spectrum. In this note, by adding an imaginary potential proportional to ip_1p_2 to the hamiltonian of an anisotropic planar oscillator, we construct a PT pseudo-hermitian hamiltonian and obtain its real spectrum. In addition, we find that the reality of the energy spectrum remains when the model is extended to the canonical noncommutative space.

Classical Mechanics on Noncommutative Space with Lie-algebraic Structure

We investigate the kinetics of a nonrelativistic particle interacting with a constant external force on a Lie-algebraic noncommutative space. The structure constants of a Lie algebra, also called noncommutative parameters, are constrained in general due to some algebraic properties, such as the antisymmetry and Jacobi identity. Through solving the constraint equations the structure constants satisfy, we obtain two new sorts of algebraic structures, each of which corresponds to one type of noncommutative spaces. Based on such types of noncommutative spaces as the starting point, we analyze the classical motion of the particle interacting with a constant external force by means of the Hamiltonian formalism on a Poisson manifold. Our results {\em not only} include that of a recent work as our special cases, {\em but also} provide new trajectories of motion governed mainly by marvelous extra forces. The extra forces with the unimaginable $t\dot{x}$-, $\dot{(xx)}$-, and $\ddot{(xx)}$-dependence besides with the usual $t$-, $x$-, and $\dot{x}$-dependence, originating from a variety of noncommutativity between different spatial coordinates and between spatial coordinates and momenta as well, deform greatly the particle's ordinary trajectories we are quite familiar with on the Euclidean (commutative) space.

Degrees of freedom of $f(T)$ gravity

We investigate the Hamiltonian formulation of $f(T)$ gravity and find that there are five degrees of freedom. The six first class constraints corresponding to the local Lorentz transformation in Teleparallel gravity become second class constraints in $f(T)$ gravity, which leads to the appearance of three extra degrees of freedom and the violation of the local Lorentz invariance in $f(T)$ gravity. In general, there are $D-1$ extra degrees of freedom for $f(T)$ gravity in $D$ dimensions, and this implies that the extra degrees of freedom correspond to one massive vector field or one massless vector field with one scalar field.

Massive charged particle's tunneling from spherical charged black hole

We generalize the Parikh-Wilczek scheme to the tunneling of a massive charged particle from a general spherical charged black hole. We obtain that the tunneling probability depends on the energy, the mass and the charge of the particle. In particular, the modified Hawking temperature is related to the charge. Only at the leading order approximation can the standard Hawking temperature be reproduced. We take the Reissner-Nordström black hole as an example to clarify our points of view, and find that the accumulation of Hawking radiation makes it approach an extreme black hole.

Tunneling of massive particles from noncommutative inspired Schwarzschild black hole

We apply the generalization of the Parikh-Wilczek method to the tunneling of massive particles from noncommutative inspired Schwarzschild black holes. By deriving the equation of radial motion of the tunneling particle directly, we calculate the emission rate which is shown to be dependent on the noncommutative parameter besides the energy and mass of the tunneling particle. After equating the emission rate to the Boltzmann factor, we obtain the modified Hawking temperature which relates to the noncommutativity and recovers the standard Hawking temperature in the commutative limit. We also discuss the entropy of the noncommutative inspired Schwarzschild black hole and its difference after and before a massive particle's emission.

U(2,2) gravity on noncommutative space with symplectic structure

The classical Einstein's gravity can be reformulated from the constrained U(2,2) gauge theory on the ordinary (commutative) four-dimensional spacetime. Here we consider a noncommutative manifold with a symplectic structure and construct a U(2,2) gauge theory on such a manifold by using the covariant coordinate method. Then we use the Seiberg-Witten map to express noncommutative quantities in terms of their commutative counterparts up to the first-order in noncommutative parameters. After imposing constraints we obtain a noncommutative gravity theory described by the Lagrangian with up to nonvanishing first order corrections in noncommutative parameters. This result coincides with our previous one obtained for the noncommutative SL(2,C) gravity.

Violation of the first law of black hole thermodynamics in $f(T)$ gravity

We prove that, in general, the first law of black hole thermodynamics, $δQ=TδS$, is violated in $f(T)$ gravity. As a result, it is possible that there exists entropy production, which implies that the black hole thermodynamics can be in non-equilibrium even in the static spacetime. This feature is very different from that of $f(R)$ or that of other higher derivative gravity theories. We find that the violation of first law results from the lack of local Lorentz invariance in $f(T)$ gravity. By investigating two examples, we note that $f"(0)$ should be negative in order to avoid the naked singularities and superluminal motion of light. When $f"(T)$ is small, the entropy of black holes in $f(T)$ gravity is approximatively equal to $\frac{f'(T)}{4}A$.

Magnetic expansion of Nekrasov theory: the SU(2) pure gauge theory

It is recently claimed by Nekrasov and Shatashvili that the $\mathcal {N}=2$ gauge theories in the $Ω$ background with $ε_1=\hbar, ε_2=0$ are related to the quantization of certain algebraic integrable systems. We study the special case of SU(2) pure gauge theory, the corresponding integrable model is the A$_1$ Toda model, which reduces to the sine-Gordon quantum mechanics problem. The quantum effects can be expressed as the WKB series written analytically in terms of hypergeometric functions. We obtain the magnetic and dyonic expansions of the Nekrasov theory by studying the property of hypergeometric functions in the magnetic and dyonic regions on the moduli space. We also discuss the relation between the electric-magnetic duality of gauge theory and the action-action duality of the integrable system.

Noncommutative Extension of Minkowski Spacetime and Its Primary Application

We propose a noncommutative extension of the Minkowski spacetime by introducing a well-defined proper time from the kappa-deformed Minkowski spacetime related to the standard basis. The extended Minkowski spacetime is commutative, i.e. it is based on the standard Heisenberg commutation relations, but some information of noncommutativity is encoded through the proper time to it. Within this framework, by simply considering the Lorentz invariance we can construct field theory models that comprise noncommutative effects naturally. In particular, we find a kind of temporal fuzziness related to noncommutativity in the noncommutative extension of the Minkowski spacetime. As a primary application, we investigate three types of formulations of chiral bosons, deduce the lagrangian theories of noncommutative chiral bosons and quantize them consistently in accordance with Dirac's method, and further analyze the self-duality of the lagrangian theories in terms of the parent action approach.

In this paper, we consider a noncommutative space with the Poisson structure and construct an SL(2,C) formulation of gravity on such a space. Using the covariant coordinate technique, we build a gauge invariant action in which, according to the Seiberg-Witten map, the physical degrees of freedom are expressed in terms of their commutative counterparts up to the first order in noncommutative parameters.

Hamiltonian Analyses of New Set of Dual Actions of Bosonic $p$-Branes

We make Hamiltonian analyses of the new set of dual bosonic $p$-brane (including string) actions which contain high non-linearity. The difficulties exist in two basic steps of the Hamiltonian procedure, that is, in calculating canonical momenta and in solving velocities in terms of momenta. The former difficulty can be overcome by an ADM reparametrization of induced metrics, while the latter may be circumvented by some modification to the usual Hamiltonian procedure. We also compare our results with that of the other set composed of known dual $p$-brane actions.

Newton Law in DGP Brane-World with Semi-Infinite Extra Dimension

Newton potential for DGP brane-world scenario is examined when the extra dimension is semi-infinite. The final form of the potential involves a self-adjoint extension parameter $α$, which plays a role of an additional mass (or distance) scale. The striking feature of Newton potential in this setup is that the potential behaves as seven-dimensional in long range when $α$ is nonzero. For small $α$ there is an intermediate range where the potential is five-dimensional. Five-dimensional Newton constant decreases with increase of $α$ from zero. In the short range the four-dimensional behavior is recovered. The physical implication of this result is discussed in the context of the accelerating behavior of universe.

Parent Actions, Dualities and New Weyl-invariant Actions of Bosonic p-branes

By using the systematic approach of parent action method, we derive one Weyl-noninvariant and two Weyl-invariant actions of bosonic $p$-branes ($p\geq 2$) starting from the Nambu-Goto action, and establish the duality symmetries in this set of four actions. Moreover, we discover a new bosonic $p$-brane action (including the string theory) and deduce two corresponding Weyl-invariant formulations by proposing a new special parent action. We find that the same duality symmetries as those mentioned above exist in this new set of actions. The new $p$-brane actions are also briefly analyzed.
