Heat dissipation and its relation to molecular orbital energies in single-molecule junctions

We present a theoretical study of the heat dissipation in single-molecule junctions. In order to investigate the heat dissipation in the electrodes and the relationship between the transmission spectra and the electronic structures, we consider a toy model that in which electrodes linked by a two-level molecular bridge. By using of the Landauer approach, we show how heat dissipation in the electrodes of a molecular junction is related to its transmission characteristics. We show that in general heat is not equally dissipated in the left and right electrodes of the junction and it depends on the bias polarity and the positions of molecule's energy levels with respect to the Fermi level. Also, we exploit the C$_{60}$ molecule as a junction and the results show a good agreement with the toy model. Our results for the heat dissipation are remarkable in the sense that they can be used to detect which energy levels of a junction are dominated in the transport process.

Linear and nonlinear optical properties of multi-layered spherical nano-systems with donor impurity in the center

In this study, the linear, third-order nonlinear and total absorption coefficients (ACs) of multi-layered quantum dot (MLQD) and multi-layered quantum anti-dot (MLQAD) with a hydrogenic impurity are calculated. The analytical and numerical solutions of Schrödinger equation for both MLQD and MLQAD, within the effective mass approximation and dielectric continuum model, are obtained. As our numerical results indicate, an increase in the optical intensity changes the total AC considerably, but the intensity range that leads to these changes is different for MLQAD and MLQD. It is observed that by changing the incident photon energy, the AC curves corresponding to MLQAD and MLQD are of different shapes and behaviors. The peak heights of AC curves corresponding to MLQAD are strongly affected by changing the core antidot radius and the shell thickness values, however in these cases no considerable changes are observed in peak heights of MLQD. Furthermore, in contrast to MLQAD, the photon energies corresponding to total AC peaks of MLQD are more affected by changing the confining potentials (CPs).

Oscillator strengths of the intersubband electronic transitions in the multi-layered nano-antidots with hydrogenic impurity

In this study, we have obtained the exact solutions of the Schrödinger equation for a multi-layered quantum antidot (MLQAD) within the effective mass approximation and dielectric continuum model for the spherical symmetry. The MLQAD is nano-structured semiconductor system that consists of a spherical core (e.g. $Ga_{1-x}Al_{x}As $) and a coated spherical shell (e.g. $Ga_{1-y}Al_{y}As $) as the whole anti-dot is embedded inside a bulk material (e.g. $GaAs $). The dependence of the electron energy spectrum and its radial probability density on nano-system radius are studied. The numeric calculations and analysis of oscillator strength of intersubband quantum transition from the ground state into two first allowed excited states at the varying radius, for both the finite and infinite confining potential (CP) as well as constant shell thickness, are performed. It is shown that, in particular, the binding energy and the oscillator strength of the hydrogenic impurity of a MLQAD behave differently from that of a single-layered quantum antidot (SLQAD). For a MLQAD with finite core and shell CPs, the state energies and the oscillator strengths of the impurity are found to be dependent on the shell thickness. At the large core radius and very small shell thickness, our results are closer to respective values for a SLQAD that previously reported.

Refractive index changes of multi-layered spherical nanostructures with donor impurity

In this study, the linear, third-order nonlinear and total refractive index (RI) changes of multi-layered quantum dot (MLQD) and multi-layered quantum anti-dot (MLQAD) with a hydrogenic impurity are calculated. Our numerical results indicate that the RI changes are considerably sensitive to the geometrical parameters of systems and the incident optical intensity. It is observed that by changing the incident photon energy, the RI curves corresponding to MLQAD and MLQD are considerably different in shapes and behaviors. Generally, our results show that MLQAD models have very higher RIs than MLQD models.

Reliability and efficiency of generalized rumor spreading model on complex social networks

We introduce the generalized rumor spreading model and investigate some properties of this model on different complex social networks. Despite pervious rumor models that both the spreader-spreader ($SS$) and the spreader-stifler ($SR$) interactions have the same rate $α$, we define $α^{(1)}$ and $α^{(2)}$ for $SS$ and $SR$ interactions, respectively. The effect of variation of $α^{(1)}$ and $α^{(2)}$ on the final density of stiflers is investigated. Furthermore, the influence of the topological structure of the network in rumor spreading is studied by analyzing the behavior of several global parameters such as reliability and efficiency. Our results show that while networks with homogeneous connectivity patterns reach a higher reliability, scale-free topologies need a less time to reach a steady state with respect the rumor.

Solvable multi-species reaction-diffusion processes, with particle-dependent hopping rates

By considering the master equation of the totally asymmetric exclusion process on a one-dimensional lattice and using two types of boundary conditions (i.e. interactions), two new families of the multi-species reaction-diffusion processes, with particle-dependent hopping rates, are investigated. In these models (i.e. reaction-diffusion and drop-push systems), we have the case of distinct particles where each particle $A_α$ has its own intrinsic hopping rate $v_α$. They also contain the parameters that control the annihilation-diffusion rates (including pair-annihilation and coagulation to the right and left). We obtain two distinct new models. It is shown that these models are exactly solvable in the sense of the Bethe anstaz. The two-particle conditional probabilities and the large-time behavior of such systems are also calculated.
