A possible trial beyond the conventional random phase approximation for the su(2)-Lipkin model including the case of non-closed shell system

Concerning the su(2)-Lipkin model, the calculation of the excitation energy to the 1st excited-state gives rise to the following fact: The two results based on the exact treatment and the conventional random phase approximation (RPA) are in unexpected disagreement. In order to remove this discrepancy, the conventional RPA is renewed. With the aim of this renewal, the terms, which cannot be dealt with in the conventional one, are estimated. The basic framework of this new form is not reorganized from that of the conventional one. In addition, the su(2)-Lipkin model itself is also modified so as to be applicable to the case with non-closed shell system. To this modification, one more su(2)-algebra, which has been already proposed by the present authors, is applied. Through the use of this algebra, the su(2)-Lipkin model is applicable to the case with any total fermion number permitted in the model.

Hybrid stars from a three-flavor NJL model with two kinds of tensor condensates

To obtain the equation of state of quark matter and construct hybrid stars, we calculate the thermodynamic potential in the three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model including the tensor-type four-point interaction and the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interaction. To construct the hybrid stars, it is necessary to impose the beta-equilibrium and charge neutrality conditions on the system. It is shown that tensor condensed phases appear at large chemical potential. Under the possibility of the existence of the tensor condensates, the relationship between the radius and mass of hybrid stars is estimated.

Non-zero tensor condensates in cold quark matter within the three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interaction

The possible formation of tensor condensates originated from a tensor-type interaction between quarks is investigated in the three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model including the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interaction, which leads to flavor mixing. It is shown that independent two tensor condensates appear and a tensor condensate related to the strange quark easily occurs by the effect of the flavor mixing compared with one related to light quarks. Also, it is shown that the tensor condensate related to the strange quark appears at a slightly smaller chemical potential if the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interaction is included, due to the flavor mixing effect. It is also shown that the two kinds of tensor condensates may coexist in a certain quark chemical potential due to the flavor mixing.

Spin polarizations under a pseudovector interaction between quarks with the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft term in high density quark matter

A possibility of a quark spin polarization originated from a pseudovector condensate is investigated in the three-flavor Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interaction which leads to flavor mixing. It is shown that a pseudovector condensate related to the strange quark easily occurs compared with pseudovector condensate related to light quarks. Further, it is shown that the pseudovector condensate related to the strange quark appears at a slightly small chemical potential by the effect of the flavor mixing due to the Kobayashi-Maskawa-'t Hooft interaction.

Spin Polarized versus Chiral Condensate in Quark Matter at Finite Temperature and Density

It is shown that the spin polarized condensate appears in quark matter at high baryon density and low temperature due to the tensor-type four-point interaction in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio-type model as a low energy effective theory of quantum chromodynamics. It is indicated within this low energy effective model that the chiral symmetry is broken again by the spin polarized condensate as increasing the quark number density, while the chiral symmetry restoration occurs in which the chiral condensate disappears at a certain density.

New boson realization of the Lipkin model obeying the su(2)-algebra

New boson representation of the su(2)-algebra proposed by the present authors for describing the damped and amplified oscillator is examined in the Lipkin model as one of simple many-fermion models. This boson representation is expressed in terms of two kinds of bosons with a certain positive parameter. In order to describe the case of any fermion number, third boson is introduced. Through this examination, it is concluded that this representation is well workable for the boson realization of the Lipkin model in any fermion number.

Spontaneous magnetization in high-density quark matter

It is shown that the spontaneous magnetization occurs due to the anomalous magnetic moments of quarks in the high-density quark matter under the tensor-type four-point interaction. The spin polarized condensate for each flavor of quark appears at high baryon density, which leads to the spontaneous magnetization due to the anomalous magnetic moments of quarks. The implications to the strong magnetic field in the compact stars is discussed.

Spin Polarization versus Color-Flavor-Locking in High Density Quark Matter

It is shown that spin polarization with respect to each flavor in three-flavor quark matter occurs instead of the color-flavor locking at high baryon density by using the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with four-point tensor-type interaction. Also, it is indicated that the order of phase transition between the color-flavor locked phase and the spin polarized phase is the first order by means of the second order perturbation theory.

A Pseudo su(1,1)-Algebraic Deformation of the Cooper-Pair in the su(2)-Algebraic Many-Fermion Model

A pseudo su(1,1)-algebra is formulated as a possible deformation of the Cooper-pair in the su(2)-algebraic many-fermion system. With the aid of this algebra, it is possible to describe behavior of individual fermions which are generated as the result of interaction with the external environment. The form presented in this paper is a generalization of a certain simple case developed recently by the present authors. Basic idea follows the su(1,1)-algebra in the Schwinger boson representation for treating energy transfer between the harmonic oscillator and the external environment. Hamiltonian is given under the idea of the phase space doubling in the thermo-field dynamics formalism and the time-dependent variational method is applied to this Hamiltonian. Its trial state is constructed in the frame deformed from the BCS-Bogoliubov approach to the superconductivity. Several numerical results are shown.

Interplay between Spin Polarization and Color Superconductivity in High Density Quark Matter

Here, it is suggested that a four-point interaction of the tensor type may lead to spin polarization in quark matter at high density. It is found that the two-flavor superconducting phase and the spin polarized phase correspond to distinct local minima of a certain generalized thermodynamical potential. It follows that the transition from one to the other phase occurs passing through true minima with both a spin polarization and a color superconducting gap. It is shown that the quark spin polarized phase is realized at rather high density, while the two-flavor color superconducting phase is realized at a lower density region.

Effective Potential Approach to Quark Ferromagnetization in High Density Quark Matter

A possibility of spontaneous magnetization in high density symmetric quark matter is investigated using the NJL type effective model of QCD by means of an effective potential with respect to an auxiliary field. It is shown that the quark ferromagnetic condensate has non-vanishing value at high baryon density due to the tensor-type four-point interaction between quarks.

Quark-Hadron Phase-Transition in an Extended NJL Model with Scalar-Vector Interaction

The quark-hadron phase transition at finite temperature and baryon chemical potential is investigated in an extended NJL model with scalar-vector eight-point interaction by comparing the pressure of symmetric nuclear matter with that of the quark matter. As a result, the extended NJL phase diagram is obtained in the temperature-baryon chemical potential plane and the effects of the scalar-vector coupling constant G_{sv}^q on the chiral phase transition are summarized. It is shown that a quarkyonic-like phase in which the chiral symmetry is restored but the elementary excitation modes are nucleonic appears just before deconfinement in this model.

Re-formation of Many-Quark Model with the su(4)-Algebraic Structure in the Schwinger Boson Realization

The energy eigenstates for the su(4)-algebraic model for many-quark system obtained by the present authors in the Schwinger boson space are reconsidered in the original fermion space. Through this task, the structures of the single-quark and the quark-triplet are clarified. Variations of the su(4)-generators which have been adopted by the present authors are discussed.

Scalar and Pseudoscalar Glueball Masses within a Gaussian Wavefunctional Approximation

The lowest scalar and pseudoscalar glueball masses are evaluated by means of the time-dependent variational approach to the Yang-Mills gauge theory without fermions in the Hamiltonian formalism within a Gaussian wavefunctional approximation. The glueball mass is calculated as a pole of the propagator for a composite glueball field which consists of two massless gluons. The glueball propagator is here evaluated by using the linear response theory for the composite external glueball field. As a result, a finite glueball mass is obtained through the interaction between two massless gluons, in which the glueball mass depends on the QCD coupling constant g in the nonperturbative form.

The BCS-Bogoliubov and the su(2)-Algebraic Approach to the Pairing Model in Many-Fermion System

The relation between two approaches to the su(2)-algebraic many-fermion model is discussed: (1) the BCS-Bogoliubov approach in terms of the use of the quasiparticles representing all the degrees of freedom except those related to the Cooper-pairs and (2) the conventional algebraic approach in terms of the use of the minimum weight states, from which the Cooper-pairs are excluded. In order to arrive at the goal, the idea of the quasiparticles is brought up in the conservation of the fermion number. Under the c-number replacement for the three su(2)-generators, the quasiparticles suggested in this paper are reduced to those in the BCS-Bogoliubov approach. It is also shown that the two approaches are equivalent through the c-number replacement. Further, a certain modification of the BCS-Bogoliubov approach is discussed.

Background of the su(2)-Algebraic Many-Fermion Models in the Boson Realization

The su(2)-algebraic many-fermion model is formulated so as to be able to get the unified understanding of the structures of three simple models: the single-level pairing, the isoscalar proton-neutron pairing and the two-level Lipkin model. Basic idea is to introduce an auxiliary su(2)-algebra, any generator of which commutes with any generator of the starting su(2)-algebra. With the aid of this algebra, the minimum weight states are completely determined in a simple forms. Further, concerning the two algebras, boson realization is presented. Through this formulation, the behavior of the total fermion in the Lipkin model is notably different of those in the other two models. As supplementary problem, the boson-fermion realization and the Lipkin model in the isovector pairing model are investigated.

Note on the Minimum Weight States in the su(2)-Algebraic Many-Fermion Model --- Extension of the Role of the Auxiliary su(2)-Algebra ---

The role of the auxiliary su(2)-algebra proposed by the present authors in the latest paper is extended. Its aim is to determine the minimum weight states completely. With the aid of scalar operators for the auxiliary algebra, new aspects are added to the minimum weight states in the aligned scheme discussed in the latest paper. Some simple examples are shown.

On the Color-Singlet States in Many-Quark Model with the su(4)-Algebraic Structure. II

Ground-state energies are investigated in a many-quark model with pairing interactions, which has the su(4)-algebraic structure. Exact eigenstates in the boson realization method are constructed by imposing a color-singlet condition developed in the previous paper. An interaction term breaking the su(4)-dynamical symmetry plays an important role to determine the ground state. As a result, a quark-pairing state or a quark-triplet state as a nucleon is realized with a certain value of a variable which is regarded as an order parameter. In addition to the parameter regions in which these ground states are realized, it is shown that there are two transition regions between the quark-pairing and the quark-triplet states with different values of the order parameter.

On the Color-Singlet States in Many-Quark Model with the su(4)-Algebraic Structure. III

A phase structure and phase transitions are investigated in the modified Bonn quark model. The force strength, which represents the particle-hole type interaction, is devised so as to depend on the quark number, namely quark number density. As a result, it is shown that the phase transition from the quark-triplet state as a nucleon to the quark-pair state as a color-superconducting state occurs as the density increases.

First Order Quark-Hadron Phase Transition in the NJL-Type Nuclear and Quark Model

The quark-hadron phase transition at finite baryon chemical potential is investigated in the extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model in which the scalar-vector eight-point interaction is included holding the chiral symmetry. By comparing a pressure of the symmetric nuclear matter with that of the quark matter, the realized phase at given baryon density is determined. As a result, the first order quark-hadron phase transition is derived where the deconfinement transition occurs after the chiral symmetry restoration in this model.

Two-Level Lipkin Model in Unconventional Boson Realization

With the aim of applying to the Lipkin model in the case of open shell system, a possible form of the boson realization for the su(2)-algebra is proposed both in the Schwinger and the Holstein-Primakoff representation. The basic idea is borrowed from the Schwinger boson realization for the su(4)-algebra for many-quark system recently presented by the present authors. As the simplest approximation, a certain approximate form is given and the result is a natural generalization of the RPA result in the case of closed shell system.

Note on Many-Quark Model with su(4) Algebraic Structure

In a many-quark model developed in our previous paper where two-body color pairing and particle-hole type interactions are active, the exact energy eigenstates are re-formed with physically clearer expressions than those derived in our previous paper. By using the re-formed energy eigenstates, two types of the eigenstates in which the pairing correlation and the quark triplet formation separately appear definitely, are unified and this model can be treated for both the strong color correlations and the quark triplet formations.

The physical interpretation of the exact eigenstates obtained in the boson realization in our previous paper is given in a many-quark model with su(4) algebraic structure.

Time-Dependent Variational Approach to the Non-Abelian Pure Gauge Theory

The time-dependent variational approach to the pure Yang-Mills gauge theory, especially a color su(3) gauge theory, is formulated in the functional Schroedinger picture with a Gaussian wave functional approximation. The equations of motion for the quantum gauge fields are formulated in the Liouville-von Neumann form. This variational approach is applied in order to derive the transport coefficients, such as the shear viscosity, for the pure gluonic matter by using the linear response theory. As a result, the contribution to the shear viscosity from the quantum gluons is zero up to the lowest order of the coupling g in the quantum gluonic matter.

Many-Quark Model with su(4) Algebraic Structure

With the use of a certain type of the Schwinger boson representation of the su(4) algebra, the Bonn model for many-quark systems and an extension of the model, in which the energies of the various exact states are controled, namely, the energies are enhanced or de-enhanced, are investigated. Especially, the triplet formation and the pairing correlation in many-quark states are discussed. In the boson space, all the results are analytically expressed in the exact forms.

Amplification of Quantum Meson Modes in the Late Time of the Chiral Phase Transition

We investigate the time evolution of the quantum meson modes in the late time of chiral phase transition. In particular, it is shown that there exists a possible solution to the equation of motion for the quantum meson modes, which reveals a parametric resonance and/or resonance through forced oscillation induced by the small oscillation of the chiral condensate. After that, we demonstrate the unstable regions for the quantum meson modes in both the cases of a uniform and spatially expanding system.

Landau Potential Study of the Chiral Phase Transition in a QCD-Like Theory

We investigate the chiral phase transition of a QCD-like theory, based the shape change of the effective potential near the critical point. The potential is constructed with the auxiliary field method, and a source term coupled to the field is introduced in order to compute the potential shape numerically. We also generalize the potential so as to have two independent order parameters, the quark scalar density and the number density. We find a tri-critical point locating at (T,mu)=(97, 203) MeV, and visualize it as the merging point of three potential minima.

Semi-Classical Approach to the Two-Level Pairing Model --Various Aspects of Phase Change--

Aspects of the phase change of the two-level pairing model are investigated in the semi-classical treatment by using the variational approch with the mixed-mode coherent state. In the classical limit, $hbar \to 0$, the sharp phase transition appears and the two phases exist in the region where the force strength is larger than a certain critical value. However, it is shown that, in the semi-classical treatment, the above-mentioned behavior of the phase change disappears in the analytical and the numerical treatments. As a result, new understanding about aspects of the phase change in this model is given.

Effective Potential Study of the Chiral Phase Transition in a QCD-like Theory

We construct the effective potential for a QCD-like theory using the auxiliary field method. The chiral phase transition exhibited by the model at finite temperature and the quark chemical potential is studied from the viewpoint of the shape change of the potential near the critical point. We further generalize the effective potential so as to have quark number and scalar quark densities as independent variables near the tri-critical point.
