An explicit approximation for super-linear stochastic functional differential equations

Since it is difficult to implement implicit schemes on the infinite-dimensional space, we aim to develop the explicit numerical method for approximating super-linear stochastic functional differential equations (SFDEs). Precisely, borrowing the truncation idea and linear interpolation we propose an explicit truncated Euler-Maruyama scheme for super-linear SFDEs, and obtain the boundedness and convergence in L^p. We also yield the convergence rate with 1/2 order. Different from some previous works, we release the global Lipschitz restriction on the diffusion coefficient. Furthermore, we reveal that numerical solutions preserve the underlying exponential stability. Moreover, we give several examples to support our theory.

The backward Euler-Maruyama method for invariant measures of stochastic differential equations with super-linear coefficients

The backward Euler-Maruyama (BEM) method is employed to approximate the invariant measure of stochastic differential equations, where both the drift and the diffusion coefficient are allowed to grow super-linearly. The existence and uniqueness of the invariant measure of the numerical solution generated by the BEM method are proved and the convergence of the numerical invariant measure to the underlying one is shown. Simulations are provided to illustrate the theoretical results and demonstrate the application of our results in the area of system control.

Delay Feedback Control for Switching Diffusion Systems Based on Discrete Time Observations

For the sake of saving time and costs the feedback control based on discrete-time observations is used to stabilize the switching diffusion systems. Response lags are required by most of physical systems and play a key role in the feedback control. The aim of this paper is to design delay feedback control functions based on the discrete-time observations of the system states and the Markovian states in order for the controlled switching diffusion system (SDS) to be exponentially stable in $p$th moment and probability one as well as stable in $H_\infty$. The designed control principles are implementable to stablize quasi-linear and highly nonlinear SDSs. For quasi-linear SDSs the criteria are sharp that under the control with high strength the controlled SDSs will be stable (bounded) while under the weaker control they will be unstable (unbounded) in mean square. The sample and moment Lyapunov exponents are estimated which have close relationship with the time delays.

Delay-dependent Asymptotic Stability of Highly Nonlinear Stochastic Differential Delay Equations Driven by $G$-Brownian Motion

Based on the classical probability, the stability criteria for stochastic differential delay equations (SDDEs) where their coefficients are either linear or nonlinear but bounded by linear functions have been investigated intensively. Moreover, the dependent stability of the highly nonlinear hybrid stochastic differential equations is recently studied. In this paper, by using the nonlinear expectation theory, we explore the dependent stability of a class of highly nonlinear hybrid stochastic differential delay equations driven by $G$-Brownian motion ($G$-SDDEs). Firstly, we give preliminaries of sublinear expectation. Then, the delay-dependent criteria of the stability and boundedness of solutions to $G$-SDDEs is provided. Finally, an illustrative example is analyzed by the $φ$-max-mean algorithm.

Strong convergence and asymptotic stability of explicit numerical schemes for nonlinear stochastic differential equations

In this article we introduce several kinds of easily implementable explicit schemes, which are amenable to Khasminski's techniques and are particularly suitable for highly nonlinear stochastic differential equations (SDEs). We show that without additional restriction conditions except those which guarantee the exact solutions possess their boundedness in expectation with respect to certain Lyapunov functions, the numerical solutions converge strongly to the exact solutions in finite-time. Moreover, based on the nonnegative semimartingale convergence theorem, positive results about the ability of explicit numerical approximation to reproduce the well-known LaSalle-type theorem of SDEs are proved here, from which we deduce the asymptotic stability of numerical solutions. Some examples and simulations are provided to support the theoretical results and to demonstrate the validity of the approach.

The Hitting Times of A Stochastic Epidemic Model

In this paper, we focus on the hitting times of a stochastic epidemic model presented by \cite{Gray}. Under the help of the auxiliary stopping times, we investigate the asymptotic limits of the hitting times by the variations of calculus and the large deviation inequalities when the noise is sufficiently small. It can be shown that the relative position between the initial state and the hitting state determines the scope of the hitting times greatly.

Mean Square Polynomial Stability of Numerical Solutions to a Class of Stochastic Differential Equations

The exponential stability of numerical methods to stochastic differential equations (SDEs) has been widely studied. In contrast, there are relatively few works on polynomial stability of numerical methods. In this letter, we address the question of reproducing the polynomial decay of a class of SDEs using the Euler--Maruyama method and the backward Euler--Maruyama method. The key technical contribution is based on various estimates involving the gamma function.

On the almost sure running maxima of solutions of affine neutral stochastic functional differential equations

This paper studies the large fluctuations of solutions of finite--dimensional affine stochastic neutral functional differential equations with finite memory, as well as related nonlinear equations. We find conditions under which the exact almost sure growth rate of the running maximum of each component of the system can be determined, both for affine and nonlinear equations. The proofs exploit the fact that an exponentially decaying fundamental solution of the underlying deterministic equation is sufficient to ensure that the solution of the affine equation converges to a stationary Gaussian process.

On the Existence and Uniqueness of Solutions of Stochastic Equations of Neutral Type

This paper considers some the existence and uniqueness of strong solutions of stochastic neutral functional differential equations. The conditions on the neutral functional relax those commonly used to establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions of NSFDEs for many important classes of functional, and parallel the conditions used to ensure existence and uniqueness of solutions of related deterministic neutral equations. Exponential estimates on the almost sure and p--th mean rate of growth of solutions under the weaker existence conditions are also given.

Stability Analysis of Continuous-Time Switched Systems with a Random Switching Signal

This paper is concerned with the stability analysis of continuous-time switched systems with a random switching signal. The switching signal manifests its characteristics with that the dwell time in each subsystem consists of a fixed part and a random part. The stochastic stability of such switched systems is studied using a Lyapunov approach. A necessary and sufficient condition is established in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The effect of the random switching signal on system stability is illustrated by a numerical example and the results coincide with our intuition.

Convergence, Non-negativity and Stability of a New Milstein Scheme with Applications to Finance

We propose and analyse a new Milstein type scheme for simulating stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with highly nonlinear coefficients. Our work is motivated by the need to justify multi-level Monte Carlo simulations for mean-reverting financial models with polynomial growth in the diffusion term. We introduce a double implicit Milstein scheme and show that it possesses desirable properties. It converges strongly and preserves non-negativity for a rich family of financial models and can reproduce linear and nonlinear stability behaviour of the underlying SDE without severe restriction on the time step. Although the scheme is implicit, we point out examples of financial models where an explicit formula for the solution to the scheme can be found.

Strong convergence and stability of implicit numerical methods for stochastic differential equations with non-globally Lipschitz continuous coefficients

We are interested in the strong convergence and almost sure stability of Euler-Maruyama (EM) type approximations to the solutions of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with non-linear and non-Lipschitzian coefficients. Motivation comes from finance and biology where many widely applied models do not satisfy the standard assumptions required for the strong convergence. In addition we examine the globally almost surely asymptotic stability in this non-linear setting for EM type schemes. In particular, we present a stochastic counterpart of the discrete LaSalle principle from which we deduce stability properties for numerical methods.

Competitive Lotka-Volterra Population Dynamics with Jumps

This paper considers competitive Lotka-Volterra population dynamics with jumps. The contributions of this paper are as follows. (a) We show stochastic differential equation (SDE) with jumps associated with the model has a unique global positive solution; (b) We discuss the uniform boundedness of $p$th moment with $p>0$ and reveal the sample Lyapunov exponents; (c) Using a variation-of-constants formula for a class of SDEs with jumps, we provide explicit solution for 1-dimensional competitive Lotka-Volterra population dynamics with jumps, and investigate the sample Lyapunov exponent for each component and the extinction of our $n$-dimensional model.

Khasminskii-Type Theorem and LaSalle-Type Theorem for Stochastic Evolution Delay Equations

In this paper we study the well-known Khasminskii-Type Theorem, i.e. the existence and uniqueness of solutions of stochastic evolution delay equations, under local Lipschitz condition, but without linear growth condition. We then establish one stochastic LaSalle-type theorem for asymptotic stability analysis of strong solutions. Moreover, several examples are established to illustrate the power of our theories.
