Fractional revival on abelian Cayley graphs

Fractional revival, known as a quantum transport phenomenon, is essential for entanglement generation in quantum spin networks. The concept of fractional revival is a generalization of perfect state transfer and periodicity on graphs. In this paper, we propose a sufficient and necessary condition for abelian Cayley graphs having fractional revival between any two distinct vertices. With this characterization, two general constructions of abelian Cayley graphs having fractional revival is presented. Meanwhile, we establish several new families of abelian Cayley graphs admitting fractional revival.

Linear Codes With Two or Three Weights From Some Functions With Low Walsh Spectrum in Odd Characteristic

Linear codes with few weights have applications in authentication codes, secrete sharing schemes, association schemes, consumer electronics and data storage system. In this paper, several classes of linear codes with two or three weights are obtained from some functions with low Walsh spectrum in odd characteristic. Numerical results show that some of the linear codes obtained are optimal or almost optimal in the sense that they meet certain bounds on linear codes.

Perfect edge state transfer on cubelike graphs

Perfect (quantum) state transfer has been proved to be an effective model for quantum information processing. In this paper, we give a characterization of cubelike graphs having perfect edge state transfer. By using a lifting technique, we show that every bent function, and some semi-bent functions as well, can produce some graphs having PEST. Some concrete constructions of such graphs are provided. Notably, using our method, one can obtain some classes of infinite graphs possessing PEST.

Several classes of bent, near-bent and 2-plateaued functions over finite fields of odd characteristic

Inspired by a recent work of Mesnager, we present several new infinite families of quadratic ternary bent, near-bent and 2-plateaued functions from some known quadratic ternary bent functions. Meanwhile, the distribution of the Walsh spectrum of two class of 2-plateaued functions obtained in this paper is completely determined. Additionally, we construct the first class of $p$-ary bent functions of algebraic degree $p$ over the fields of an arbitrary odd characteristic. The proposed class contains non-quadratic $p$-ary bent functions that are affinely inequivalent to known monomial and binomial ones.

Several new classes of Boolean functions with few Walsh transform values

In this paper, several new classes of Boolean functions with few Walsh transform values, including bent, semi-bent and five-valued functions, are obtained by adding the product of two or three linear functions to some known bent functions.Numerical results show that the proposed class contains cubic bent functions that are affinely inequivalent to all known quadratic ones. Meanwhile, we determine the distribution of the Walsh spectrum of five-valued functions constructed in this paper.

Two Boolean functions with five-valued Walsh spectra and high nonlinearity

For cryptographic systems the method of confusion and diffusion is used as a fundamental technique to achieve security. Confusion is reflected in nonlinearity of certain Boolean functions describing the cryptographic transformation. In this paper, we present two balanced boolean functions which have low Walsh spectra and high nonlinearity. In the proof of the nonlinearity, a new method for evaluating some exponential sums over finite fields was provided.

On Some Expander Graphs and Algebraic Cayley Graphs

Expander graphs have many interesting applications in communication networks and other areas, and thus these graphs have been extensively studied in theoretic computer sciences and in applied mathematics. In this paper, we use reversible difference sets and generalized difference sets to construct more expander graphs, some of them are Ramanujan graphs. Three classes of elementary constructions of infinite families of Ramanujan graphs are provided. It is proved that for every even integer $k>4$, if $2(k+2)=rs$ for two even numbers $r$ and $s$ with $s\geq 4$ and $2s>r\geq s$, or $r\geq 4$ and $2r>s\geq r$, then there exists an $k$-regular Ramanujan graph. As a consequence, there exists an $k$-regular Ramanujan graph with $k=2t^2-2$ for every integer $t>2$. It is also proved that for every odd integer $m$, there is an $(2^{2m-2}+2^{m-1})$-regular Ramanujan graph. These results partially solved the long hanging open question for the existence of $k$-regular Ramanujan graphs for every positive integer $k$.

On Exponential Sums, Nowton identities and Dickson Polynomials over Finite Fields

Let $\mathbb{F}_{q}$ be a finite field, $\mathbb{F}_{q^s}$ be an extension of $\mathbb{F}_q$, let $f(x)\in \mathbb{F}_q[x]$ be a polynomial of degree $n$ with $\gcd(n,q)=1$. We present a recursive formula for evaluating the exponential sum $\sum_{c\in \mathbb{F}_{q^s}}χ^{(s)}(f(x))$. Let $a$ and $b$ be two elements in $\mathbb{F}_q$ with $a\neq 0$, $u$ be a positive integer. We obtain an estimate for the exponential sum $\sum_{c\in \mathbb{F}^*_{q^s}}χ^{(s)}(ac^u+bc^{-1})$, where $χ^{(s)}$ is the lifting of an additive character $χ$ of $\mathbb{F}_q$. Some properties of the sequences constructed from these exponential sums are provided also.
