Gravitational instantons with faster than quadratic curvature decay (I)

In this paper, we study gravitational instantons (i.e., complete hyperkäler 4-manifolds with faster than quadratic curvature decay). We prove three main theorems: 1.Any gravitational instanton must have known end----ALE, ALF, ALG or ALH. 2.In ALG and ALH-non-splitting cases, it must be biholomorphic to a compact complex elliptic surface minus a divisor. Thus, we confirm a long-standing question of Yau in ALG and ALH cases. 3.In ALF-D_k case, it must have an O(4)-multiplet.

Gravitational instantons with faster than quadratic curvature decay (II)

This is our second paper in a series to study gravitational instantons, i.e. complete hyperkäler 4-manifolds with faster than quadratic curvature decay. We prove two main theorems: 1.The asymptotic rate of gravitational instantons to the standard models can be improved automatically. 2.Any ALF-D_k gravitational instanton must be the Cherkis-Hitchin-Ivanov-Kapustin-Lindström-Roček metric.

On the long time behaviour of the Conical Kähler- Ricci flows

We prove that the conical Kähler-Ricci flows introduced in \cite{CYW} exist for all time $t\in [0,+\infty)$. These immortal flows possess maximal regularity in the conical category. As an application, we show if the twisted first Chern class $C_{1,β}$ is negative or zero, the corresponding conical Kähler-Ricci flows converge to Kähler-Einstein metrics with conical singularities exponentially fast. To establish these results, one of our key steps is to prove a Liouville type theorem for Kähler-Ricci flat metrics (which are defined over $\mathbb{C}^{n}$) with conical singularities.

On the regularity problem of complex Monge-Ampere equations with conical singularities

In the category of metrics with conical singularities along a smooth divisor with angle in $(0, 2π)$, we show that locally defined weak solutions ($C^{1,1}-$solutions) to the Kähler-Einstein equations actually possess maximum regularity, which means the metrics are actually Hölder continuous in the singular polar coordinates. This shows the weak Kähler-Einstein metrics constructed by Guenancia-Paun \cite{GP}, and independently by Yao \cite{GT}, are all actually strong-conical Kähler-Einstein metrics. The key step is to establish a Liouville-type theorem for weak-conical Kähler-Ricci flat metrics defined over $\C^{n}$, which depends on a Calderon-Zygmund theory in the conical setting.

Bessel Functions, Heat Kernel and the Conical Kähler-Ricci Flow

Following Donaldson's oppenness theorem on deforming a conical Kähler-Einstein metric, we prove a parabolic Schauder-type estimate with respect to conical metrics. As a corollary, we show that the conical Kähler-Ricci Flow exists for short time. The key is to establish the relevant heat kernel estimates, where we use the Weber's formula on Bessel function of the second kind and Carslaw's heat kernel representation in \cite{Car}.

Kahler-Einstein metrics on Fano manifolds, III: limits as cone angle approaches 2π and completion of the main proof

This is the third and final paper in a series which establish results announced in arXiv:1210.7494. In this paper we consider the Gromov-Hausdorff limits of metrics with cone singularities in the case when the limiting cone angle approaches 2π. We also put all our technical results together to complete the proof of the main theorem that if a K-stable Fano manifold admits a Kahler-Einstein metric.

On the Geodesics in the space of Kähler metrics with prescribed singularities

Motivated by the results of B. Berndtsson, in this memoir we use the new estimates developed by W. He to extend a theorem of the second author on the existence of weak $C^{1,1}$ geodesics between two smooth non-degenerate Kähler potentials to the case where the metrics on the end points may have singularities on some analytic set and may be positive semi-definite.

Calabi flow, Geodesic rays, and uniqueness of constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics

We prove that constant scalar curvature Kähler metric "adjacent" to a fixed Kähler class is unique up to isomorphism. This extends the uniqueness theorem of Donaldson and Chen-Tian, and formally fits into the infinite dimensional G.I.T picture described by Donaldson. We prove that the Calabi flow near a cscK metric exists globally and converges uniformly to a cscK metric in a polynomial rate. Viewed in a Kähler class, the Calabi flow is also shown to be asymptotic to a smooth geodesic ray at infinity. This latter fact is also interesting in the finite dimensional analogue, where we show that the downward gradient flow of the Kempf-Ness function in a semi-stable orbit is asymptotic to the direction of optimal degeneration.

Kahler-Einstein metrics on Fano manifolds, II: limits with cone angle less than 2 π

This is the second of a series of three papers which provide proofs of results announced in arXiv:1210.7494. In this paper we consider the Gromov-Hausdorff limits of metrics with cone singularities in the case when the limiting cone angle is less than 2π. We show that these are in a natrual way projective algebraic varieties. In the case when the limiting variety and the limiting divisor are smooth we show that the limiting metric also has standard cone singularities.

The complex Monge-Ampere equation on compact Kaehler manifolds

We consider the complex Monge-Ampère equation on a compact Kähler manifold $(M, g)$ when the right hand side $F$ has rather weak regularity. In particular we prove that estimate of $\tϕ$ and the gradient estimate hold when $F$ is in $W^{1, p_0}$ for any $p_0>2n$. As an application, we show that there exists a classical solution in $W^{3, p_0}$ for the complex Monge-Ampère equation when $F$ is in $W^{1, p_0}$.

Kähler Ricci flow on Fano manifolds(I)

We study the evolution of anticanonical line bundles along the Kähler Ricci flow. We show that under some conditions, the convergence of Kähler Ricci flow is determined by the properties of the anticanonical divisors of $M$. As examples, the Kähler Ricci flow on $M$ converges when $M$ is a Fano surface and $c_1^2(M)=1$ or $c_1^2(M)=3$. Combined with the work in \cite{CW1} and \cite{CW2}, this gives a Ricci flow proof of the Calabi conjecture on Fano surfaces with reductive automorphism groups. The original proof of this conjecture is due to Gang Tian.

Pseudo-Calabi Flow

We first define Pseudo-Calabi flow, as {equation*} {{aligned}{{\partial φ}\over {\partial t}}&= -f(φ), \triangle_varphi f(φ) &= S(φ) - \ul S.{aligned}. \end{equation*} Then we prove the well-posedness of this flow including the short time existence, the regularity of the solution and the continuous dependence on the initial data. Next, we point out that the $L^\infty$ bound on Ricci curvature is an obstruction to the extension of the pseudo-Calabi flow. Finally, we show that if there is a cscK metric in its Kähler class, then for any initial potential in a small $C^{2,α}$ neighborhood of it, the pseudo-Calabi flow must converge exponentially to a nearby cscK metric.

The space of volume forms

S. Donaldson introduced a metric on the space of volume forms, with fixed total volume on any compact Riemmanian manifold. With this metric, the space of volume forms formally has non-positive curvature. The geodesic equation is a fully nonlinear degenerate elliptic equation. We solve the geodesic equation and its perturbed equation and prove that the space of volume forms is an infinite dimensional non-positively curved metric space in the sense of Alexandrov.

On the Calabi flow

We first give a precise statement on the short time existence of the Calabi flow and prove a stability result: any metric near a constant scalar curvature metric will flow to this cscK metric exponentially fast. Secondly, we prove that a compactness theorem in space of the kahler metrics given unifrom Ricci bound and potential bound. As an application, we prove the Calabi flow can be extended once Ricci curvature stays uniformly bounded. Lastly, we prove a removing-sigularity result about a weak constant scalar curveture metric in a punctured ball. One of the main difficulties is that the metric is not assumed to be smooth outside of the singular point.

Weak Limits of Riemannian Metrics in Surfaces with integral Curvature Bound

In this paper, we study the weak compactness of the set of conformal metrics in any Riemann surface without boundary whose Calabi energy and area are uniformly bounded. We prove that for any sequence of such metrics, there alwasy exists a subsequence which converges in H\sp{2,2}_\sb{loc} everywhere except a finite number of bubble points. Blowup analysis near bubble shows that the bubble on bubble phenomenon occurs. The limit metric gives rise to a tree structure decomposition, where each node in the tree represents a limit metric of a subsequence at that stage while the edge of the tree structure represents the neck on the process of blowing up. We also show that the number of the nodes which have more than three edges attached is finite.
