Minimally Entangled Typical Thermal States Algorithms for Finite Temperature Matsubara Green Functions

We extend finite-temperature tensor network methods to compute Matsubara imaginary-time correlation functions, building on the minimally entangled typical thermal states (METTS) and purification algorithms. While imaginary-time correlation functions are straightforward to formulate with these methods, care is needed to avoid convergence issues that would result from naive estimators. As a benchmark, we study the single-band Anderson impurity model, even though the algorithm is quite general and applies to lattice models. The special structure of the impurity model benchmark system and our choice of basis enable techniques such as reuse of high-probability METTS for increasing algorithm efficiency. The results are competitive with state-of-the-art continuous time Monte Carlo. We discuss the behavior of computation time and error as a function of the number of purified sites in the Hamiltonian.

Some mean value results related to Hardy's function

Let $ζ(s)$ and $Z(t)$ be the Riemann zeta function and Hardy's function respectively. We show asymptotic formulas for $\int_0^T Z(t)ζ(1/2+it)dt$ and $\int_0^T Z^2(t) ζ(1/2+it)dt$. Furthermore we derive an upper bound for $\int_0^T Z^3(t)χ^α(1/2+it)dt$ for $-1/2<α<1/2$, where $χ(s)$ is the function which appears in the functional equation of the Riemann zeta function: $ζ(s)=χ(s)ζ(1-s)$.

Four-manifolds of Pinched Sectional Curvature

In this paper, we study closed four-dimensional manifolds. In particular, we show that under various new pinching curvature conditions (for example, the sectional curvature is no more than 5/6 of the smallest Ricci eigenvalue) then the manifold is definite. If restricting to a metric with harmonic Weyl tensor, then it must be self-dual or anti-self-dual under the same conditions. Similarly, if restricting to an Einstein metric, then it must be either the complex projective space with its Fubini-Study metric, the round sphere or their quotients. Furthermore, we also classify Einstein manifolds with positive intersection form and an upper bound on the sectional curvature.

Interfacial thermal conduction and negative temperature jump in one-dimensional lattices

We study the thermal boundary conduction in one-dimensional harmonic and $ϕ^{4}$ lattices, both of which consist of two segments coupled by a harmonic interaction. For the ballistic interfacial heat transport through the harmonic lattice, we use both theoretical calculation and molecular dynamics simulation to study the heat flux and temperature jump at the interface as to gain insights of the Kapitza resistance at the atomic scale. In the weak coupling regime, the heat current is proportional to the square of the coupling strength for the harmonic model as well as anharmonic models. Interestingly, there exists a negative temperature jump between the interfacial particles in particular parameter regimes. A nonlinear response of the boundary temperature jump to the externally applied temperature difference in the $ϕ^{4}$ lattice is observed. To understand the anomalous result, we then extend our studies to a model in which the interface is represented by a relatively small segment with gradually changing spring constants, and find that the negative temperature jump still exist. Finally, we show that the local velocity distribution at the interface is so close to the Gaussian distribution that the existence/absence of local equilibrium state seems unable to determine by numerics in this way.

Mean square of the error term in the asymmetric many dimensional divisor problem

Let $\ba=(a_1,a_2,\ldots,a_k)$, where $a_j \ (j=1,\ldots,k)$ are positive integers such that $a_1 \leq a_2 \leq \cdots \leq a_k$. Let $d(\ba;n)=\sum_{n_1^{a_1}\cdots n_k^{a_k}=n}1$ and $Δ(\ba;x)$ be the error term of the summatory function of $d(\ba;n)$. In this paper we show an asymptotic formula of the mean square of $Δ(\ba;x)$ under a certain condition. Furthermore, in the cases $k=2$ and 3, we give unconditional asymptotic formulas for these mean squares.

Multiple-correction and summation of the rational series

The goal of this work is to formulate a systematical method for looking for the simple closed form or continued fraction representation of a class of rational series. As applications, we obtain the continued fraction representations for the alternating Mathieu series and some rational series. The main tools are multiple-correction and two of Ramanujan's continued fraction formulae involving the quotient of the gamma functions.

On the Tong-type identity and the mean square of the error term for an extended Selberg class

In 1956, Tong established an asymptotic formula for the mean square of the error term in the summatory function of the Piltz divisor function $d_3(n).$ The aim of this paper is to generalize Tong's method to a class of Dirichlet series that satisfy a functional equation. As an application, we can establish the asymptotic formulas for the mean square of the error terms for a class of functions in the well-known Selberg class. The Tong-type identity and formula established in this paper can be viewed as an analogue of the well-known Voronoï's formula.

The fastest possible continued fraction approximations of a class of functions

The goal of this paper is to formulate a systematical method for constructing the fastest possible continued fraction approximations of a class of functions. The main tools are the multiple-correction method, the generalized Mortici's lemma and the Mortici-transformation. As applications, we will present some sharp inequalities, and the continued fraction expansions associated to the volume of the unit ball. In addition, we obtain a new continued fraction expansion of Ramanujan for a ratio of the gamma functions, which is showed to be the fastest possible. Finally, three conjectures are proposed.

Harnack Estimates for Conjugate Heat Kernel on Evolving Manifolds

In this article we derive Harnack estimates for conjugate heat kernel in an abstract geometric flow. Our calculation involves a correction term D. When D is nonnegative, we are able to obtain a Harnack inequality. Our abstract formulation provides a unified framework for some known results, in particular including corresponding results of Ni, Perelman, and Tran as special cases. Moreover it leads to new results in the setting of Ricci-Harmonic flow and mean curvature flow in Lorentzian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Multiple-Correction and Continued Fraction Approximation

The main aim of this paper is to further develop a multiple-correction method formulated in a previous work~\cite{CXY}. As its applications, we find a kind of hybrid-type finite continued fraction approximations in two cases of Landau constants and Lebesgue constants. In addition, we refine the previous results of Lu~\cite{Lu} and Xu and You~\cite{XY} for the Euler-Mascheroni constant.

Conditional Results for a Class of Arithmetic Functions: a variant of H. L. Montgomery and R. C. Vaughan's method

Let $a, b,c $ and $k$ be positive integers such that $1\leq a\leq b,a<c<2(a+b), c\ne b$ and $(a,b,c)=1$. Define the arithmetic function $f_k(a,b;c;n)$ by $$ \sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{f_k(a,b;c;n)}{n^s}=\frac{ζ(as)ζ(bs)}{ζ^k(cs)}, \Re s >1.$$ Let $Δ_k(a,b;c;x)$ denote the error term of the summatory function of the function $f_k(a,b;c;n).$ IN this paper we shall give two expressions of $Δ_k(a,b;c;x)$. As applications, we study the so-called $(l,r)$-integers, the generalized square-full integers, the $e-r$-free integers, the divisor problem over $r$-free integers, the $e$-square-free integers. An important tool is a generalization of a method of H. L. Montgomery and R. C. Vaughan.

Mean Value Inequalities and Conditions to Extend Ricci Flow

This paper concerns conditions related to the first finite singularity time of a Ricci flow solution on a closed manifold. In particular, we provide a systematic approach to the mean value inequality method, suggested by N. Le and F. He. We also display a close connection between this method and time slice analysis of B. Wang. As an application, we prove several inequalities for a Ricci flow solution on a manifold with nonnegative isotropic curvature.

The Weyl Tensor of Gradient Ricci Solitons

This paper derives new identities for the Weyl tensor on a gradient Ricci soliton, particularly in dimension four. First, we prove a Bochner-Weitzenböck type formula for the norm of the self-dual Weyl tensor and discuss its applications, including connections between geometry and topology. In the second part, we are concerned with the interaction of different components of Riemannian curvature and (gradient and Hessian of) the soliton potential function. The Weyl tensor arises naturally in these investigations. Applications here are rigidity results.

Curvature Pinching Estimate And Singularities Of The Ricci Flow

In this paper, we first derive a pinching estimate on the traceless Ricci curvature in term of scalar curvature and Weyl tensor under the Ricci flow. Then we apply this estimate to study finite-time singularity behavior. We show that if the scalar curvature is uniformly bounded, then the Weyl tensor has to blow up, as a consequence, the corresponding singularity model must be Ricci flat with non-vanishing Weyl tensor.
