Developing RNN-T Models Surpassing High-Performance Hybrid Models with Customization Capability

Because of its streaming nature, recurrent neural network transducer (RNN-T) is a very promising end-to-end (E2E) model that may replace the popular hybrid model for automatic speech recognition. In this paper, we describe our recent development of RNN-T models with reduced GPU memory consumption during training, better initialization strategy, and advanced encoder modeling with future lookahead. When trained with Microsoft's 65 thousand hours of anonymized training data, the developed RNN-T model surpasses a very well trained hybrid model with both better recognition accuracy and lower latency. We further study how to customize RNN-T models to a new domain, which is important for deploying E2E models to practical scenarios. By comparing several methods leveraging text-only data in the new domain, we found that updating RNN-T's prediction and joint networks using text-to-speech generated from domain-specific text is the most effective.

On the Cauchy problem for backward stochastic partial differential equations in Hölder spaces

This paper is concerned with solution in Hölder spaces of the Cauchy problem for linear and semi-linear backward stochastic partial differential equations (BSPDEs) of super-parabolic type. The pair of unknown variables are viewed as deterministic spatial functionals which take values in Banach spaces of random (vector) processes. We define suitable functional Hölder spaces for them and give some inequalities among these Hölder norms. The existence, uniqueness as well as the regularity of solutions are proved for BSPDEs, which contain new assertions even on deterministic PDEs.

Maximum Principle for Optimal Control of Neutral Stochastic Functional Differential Systems

In this paper, the optimal control problem of neutral stochastic functional differential equation (NSFDE) is discussed. A class of so-called neutral backward stochastic functional equations of Volterra type (VNBSFEs) are introduced as the adjoint equation. The existence and uniqueness of VNBSFE is established. The Pontryagin maximum principle is constructed for controlled NSFDE with Lagrange type cost functional.

Neutral Backward Stochastic Functional Differential Equations and Their Application

In this paper we are concerned with a new type of backward equations with anticipation which we call neutral backward stochastic functional differential equations. We obtain the existence and uniqueness and prove a comparison theorem. As an application, we discuss the optimal control of neutral stochastic functional differential equations, establish a Pontryagin maximum principle, and give an explicit optimal value for the linear optimal control.

On the Quasi-linear Reflected Backward Stochastic Partial Differential Equations

This paper is concerned with the quasi-linear reflected backward stochastic partial differential equation (RBSPDE for short). Basing on the theory of backward stochastic partial differential equation and the parabolic capacity and potential, we first associate the RBSPDE to a variational problem, and via the penalization method, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the solution for linear RBSPDE with Lapalacian leading coefficients. With the continuity approach, we further obtain the well-posedness of general quasi-linear RBSPDEs. Related results, including Itô formulas for backward stochastic partial differential equations with random measures, the comparison principle for solutions of RBSPDEs and the connections with reflected backward stochastic differential equations and optimal stopping problems, are addressed as well.
