Unified and consistent structure growth measurements from joint ACT, SPT and \textit{Planck} CMB lensing

We present the tightest cosmic microwave background (CMB) lensing constraints to date on the growth of structure by combining CMB lensing measurements from the Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT), the South Pole Telescope (SPT) and \textit{Planck}. Each of these surveys individually provides lensing measurements with similarly high statistical power, achieving signal-to-noise ratios of approximately 40. The combined lensing bandpowers represent the most precise CMB lensing power spectrum measurement to date with a signal-to-noise ratio of 61 and an amplitude of $A_\mathrm{lens}^\mathrm{recon} = 1.025 \pm 0.017$ with respect to the theory prediction from the best-fit CMB \textit{Planck}-ACT cosmology. The bandpowers from all three lensing datasets, analyzed jointly, yield a $1.6\%$ measurement of the parameter combination $S_8^\mathrm{CMBL} \equiv σ_8\,(Ω_m/0.3)^{0.25} = 0.825^{+0.015}_{-0.013}$. Including Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) Baryon Acoustic Oscillation (BAO) data improves the constraint on the amplitude of matter fluctuations to $σ_8 = 0.829 \pm 0.009$ (a $1.1\%$ determination). When combining with uncalibrated supernovae from \texttt{Pantheon+}, we present a $4\%$ sound-horizon-independent estimate of $H_0=66.4\pm2.5\,\mathrm{km\,s^{-1}\,Mpc^{-1}} $. The joint lensing constraints on structure growth and present-day Hubble rate are fully consistent with a $Λ$CDM model fit to the primary CMB data from \textit{Planck} and ACT. While the precise upper limit is sensitive to the choice of data and underlying model assumptions, when varying the neutrino mass sum within the $Λ\mathrm{CDM}$ cosmological model, the combination of primary CMB, BAO and CMB lensing drives the probable upper limit for the mass sum towards lower values, comparable to the minimum mass prior required by neutrino oscillation experiments.

A measurement method of transverse light-shift in atomic spin co-magnetometer

We disclose a method to obtain the transverse light-shift along the probe light of a single-axis alkali metal-noble gas co-magnetometer. The relationship between transverse compensating field and light-shift is deduced through the steady-state solution of Bloch equations. The variety of probe light intensity is used to obtain the residual magnetic field, and step modulation tests are applied to acquire the total spin-relaxation rate of electron spins and self-compensation point. Finally, the transverse light-shift is reduced from -0.115 nT to -0.039 nT by optimizing the probe light wavelength, and the value of the calibration coefficient can be increased simultaneously.

Polarization and fundamental sensitivity of $^{\text{39}}$K ($^{\text{133}}$Cs)-$^{\text{85}}$Rb-$^{\text{21}}$Ne co-magnetometers

The hybrid optical pumping spin exchange relaxation free (HOPSERF) atomic co-magnetometers make ultrahigh sensitivity measurement of inertia achievable. The wall relaxation rate has a big effect on the polarization and fundamental sensitivity for the co-magnetometer, but it is often neglected in the experiments. However, there is almost no work about the systematic analysis of the influence factors on the polarization and the fundamental sensitivity of the HOPSERF co-magnetometers. Here, we systematically study the polarization and the fundamental sensitivity of 39K-85Rb-21Ne and 133Cs-85Rb-21Ne HOPSERF co-magnetometers with low polarization limit and the wall relaxation rate. The 21Ne number density, the power density and wavelength of pump beam will affect the polarization greatly by affecting the pumping rate of pump beam. We obtain a general formula on the fundamental sensitivity of the HOPSERF co-magnetometers due to shot-noise and the fundamental sensitivity changes with multiple systemic parameters, where the suitable number density of buffer gas and quench gas make the fundamental sensitivity highest. The fundamental sensitivity $7.5355\times10^{-11}$ $\rm rad/s/Hz^{1/2}$ of 133Cs-85Rb-21Ne co-magnetometer is higher than the ultimate theoretical sensitivity $2\times10^{-10}$ $\rm rad/s/Hz^{1/2}$ of K-21Ne co-magnetometer.

Reinforcement Learning Driven Adaptive VR Streaming with Optical Flow Based QoE

With the merit of containing full panoramic content in one camera, Virtual Reality (VR) and 360-degree videos have attracted more and more attention in the field of industrial cloud manufacturing and training. Industrial Internet of Things (IoT), where many VR terminals needed to be online at the same time, can hardly guarantee VR's bandwidth requirement. However, by making use of users' quality of experience (QoE) awareness factors, including the relative moving speed and depth difference between the viewpoint and other content, bandwidth consumption can be reduced. In this paper, we propose OFB-VR (Optical Flow Based VR), an interactive method of VR streaming that can make use of VR users' QoE awareness to ease the bandwidth pressure. The Just-Noticeable Difference through Optical Flow Estimation (JND-OFE) is explored to quantify users' awareness of quality distortion in 360-degree videos. Accordingly, a novel 360-degree videos QoE metric based on PSNR and JND-OFE (PSNR-OF) is proposed. With the help of PSNR-OF, OFB-VR proposes a versatile-size tiling scheme to lessen the tiling overhead. A Reinforcement Learning(RL) method is implemented to make use of historical data to perform Adaptive BitRate(ABR). For evaluation, we take two prior VR streaming schemes, Pano and Plato, as baselines. Vast evaluations show that our system can increase the mean PSNR-OF score by 9.5-15.8% while maintaining the same rebuffer ratio compared with Pano and Plato in a fluctuate LTE bandwidth dataset. Evaluation results show that OFB-VR is a promising prototype for actual interactive industrial VR. A prototype of OFB-VR can be found in https://github.com/buptexplorers/OFB-VR.

The effect of Coulomb field on laser-induced ultrafast imaging methods

By performing a joint theoretical and experimental investigation on the high-order above-threshold ionization (HATI) spectrum, the dominant role of the 3rd-return-recollision trajectories in the region near the cutoff due to the ionic Coulomb field is identified. This invalidates the key assumption adopted in the conventional laser-induced electron diffraction (LIED) approach that the 1st-returnrecollision trajectories dominate the spectrum according to strong field approximation (SFA). Our results show that the incident (return) electron beams produced by the 1st and 3rd returns possess distinct characteristics of beam energy, beam diameter and temporal evolution law due to the influence of Coulomb field, and therefore the extracted results in the LIED will be altered if the significance of the 3rd-return-recollision trajectories is properly considered in the analysis. Such Coulomb field effect should be taken into account in all kinds of laser-induced imaging schemes based on recollision.

Perfect-fluid behavior of a dilute Fermi gas near unitary

We present an ab initio calculation of the shear viscosity as a function of interaction strength in a two-component unpolarized Fermi gas near the unitary limit, within a finite temperature quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) framework and using the Kubo linear-response formalism. The shear viscosity decreases as we tune the interaction strength 1/ak_F from the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer side of the Feshbach resonance towards Bose-Einstein condensation limit and it acquires the smallest value for 1/ak_F approx 0.4, with a minimum value of (eta/s)_min approx 0.2 hbar/k_B, which is about twice as small as the value reported for experiments in quark-gluon plasma (eta/s)_QGP lesssim 0.4 hbar/k_B. The Fermi gas near unitarity thus emerges as the most "perfect fluid" observed so far in nature. The clouds of dilute Fermi gas near unitarity exhibit the unusual attribute that, for the sizes realized so far in the laboratory or larger (less than 10^9 atoms), can sustain quantum turbulence below the critical temperature, but at the same time the classical turbulence is suppressed in the normal phase.

Exploring Task Mappings on Heterogeneous MPSoCs using a Bias-Elitist Genetic Algorithm

Exploration of task mappings plays a crucial role in achieving high performance in heterogeneous multi-processor system-on-chip (MPSoC) platforms. The problem of optimally mapping a set of tasks onto a set of given heterogeneous processors for maximal throughput has been known, in general, to be NP-complete. The problem is further exacerbated when multiple applications (i.e., bigger task sets) and the communication between tasks are also considered. Previous research has shown that Genetic Algorithms (GA) typically are a good choice to solve this problem when the solution space is relatively small. However, when the size of the problem space increases, classic genetic algorithms still suffer from the problem of long evolution times. To address this problem, this paper proposes a novel bias-elitist genetic algorithm that is guided by domain-specific heuristics to speed up the evolution process. Experimental results reveal that our proposed algorithm is able to handle large scale task mapping problems and produces high-quality mapping solutions in only a short time period.
