SI-method for solving stiff nonlinear boundary value problems

The paper contains a thorough theoretical analysis of the SI-method, which was firstly introduced in arXiv:1601.04272v8 and proved to be remarkably stable and efficient when applied to some instances of stiff boundary value problems (like the Troesch's problem). By suggesting a more general view on the SI-method's idea and framework, we managed to obtain sufficient conditions for the method to be applicable to a certain class of two-point boundary value problems. The corresponding error estimates are provided. Special attention is devoted to the exploration of the method's capabilities via a set of numerical examples. The implementation details of the method are discussed in fair depth. An open-source C++ implementation of the SI-method is freely available at the public repository https://github.com/imathsoft/MathSoftDevelopment.

Existence of the solution to a nonlocal-in-time evolutional problem

This work is devoted to the study of a nonlocal-in-time evolutional problem for the first order differential equation in Banach space. Our primary approach, although stems from the convenient technique based on the reduction of a nonlocal problem to its classical initial value analogue, uses more advanced analysis. That is a validation of the correctness in definition of the general solution representation via the Dunford-Cauchy formula. Such approach allows us to reduce the given existence problem to the problem of locating zeros of a certain entire function. It results in the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a generalized (mild) solution to the given nonlocal problem. Aside of that we also present new sufficient conditions which in the majority of cases generalize existing results.

Exponentially convergent numerical-analytical method for solving eigenvalue problems for singular differential operators

The article develops and proves an exponentially convergent numerical-analytical method (the FD-method) for solving Sturm-Liouville problems with a singular Legendre operator and a singular potential. Obtained within are sufficient conditions for convergence of the method and a priori estimates of its accuracy. A detailed algorithm for programmatic implementation of the FD-method is presented and compared with known algorithms (SLEIGN2).

Stability preserving structural transformations of systems of linear second-order ordinary differential equations

In the paper we have developed a theory of stability preserving structural transformations of systems of second-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs), i.e., the transformations which preserve the property of Lyapunov stability. The main Theorem proved in the paper can be viewed as an analogous of the Erugin's theorem for the systems of second-order ODEs. The Theorem allowed us to generalize the 3-rd and 4-th Kelvin -- Tait -- Chetayev theorems. The obtained theoretical results were successfully applied to the stability investigation of the rotary motion of a rigid body suspended on a string.

Exponentially convergent functional-discrete method for eigenvalue transmission problems with discontinuous flux and potential as a function in the space $L_1$

Based on the functional-discrete technique (FD-method), an algorithm for eigenvalue transmission problems with discontinuous flux and integrable potential is developed. The case of the potential as a function belonging to the functional space $L_1$ is studied for both linear and nonlinear eigenvalue problems. The sufficient conditions providing superexponential convergence rate of the method were obtained. Numerical examples are presented to support the theory. Based on the numerical examples and the convergence results, conclusion about analytical properties of eigensolutions for nonself-adjoint differential operators is made.

Exponentially convergent functional-discrete method for solving Sturm-Liouville problems with potential including Dirac δ-function

In the paper we present a functional-discrete method for solving Sturm-Liouville problems with potential including function from L_{1}(0,1) and δ-function. For both, linear and nonlinear cases the sufficient conditions providing superexponential convergence rate of the method are obtained. The question of possible software implementation of the method is discussed in detail. The theoretical results are successfully confirmed by the numerical example included in the paper.

The FD-method for solving Sturm-Liouville problems with special singular differential operator

In the paper we describe a superexponentially convergent numerical-analytical method for solving the eigenvalue problem for the some class of singular differential operators with boundary conditions. The method (FD-method) was firstly proposed by V. L. Makarov and successfully combines the benefits of using the {\it coefficient approximation methods} (CAM) and the homotopy approach. The sufficient conditions which provides convergence of the proposed method are stated and rigorously substantiated. The algorithm for the software implementation of the proposed method is described too. A lot of numerical examples are included in the paper. The examples confirm the theoretical conclusions. We also have made the comparison between the results obtained by FD-method and results obtained by the powerful software package for solving Sturm-Liouville problems --- SLEIGN2.

A numeric-analytical method for solving the Cauchy problem for ordinary differential equations

In the paper we offer a functional-discrete method for solving the Cauchy problem for the first order ordinary differential equations (ODEs). This method (FD-method) is in some sense similar to the Adomian Decomposition Method. But it is shown that for some problems FD-method is convergent whereas ADM is divergent. The results presented in the paper can be easily generalized on the case of systems of ODEs.
