Polynomial identities in Novikov algebras

In this paper, we study Novikov algebras satisfying nontrivial identities. We show that a Novikov algebra over a field of zero characteristic that satisfies a nontrivial identity satisfies some unexpected "universal" identities, in particular, right associator nilpotence, and right nilpotence of the commutator ideal. This, in particular, implies that a Novikov algebra over a field of zero characteristic satisfies a nontrivial identity if and only if it is Lie-solvable. We also establish that any system of identities of Novikov algebras over a field of zero characteristic follows from finitely many of them, and that the same holds over any field for multilinear Novikov identities. Some analogous simpler statements are also proved for commutative differential algebras.

Three Schur functors related to pre-Lie algebras

We give explicit combinatorial descriptions of three Schur functors arising in the theory of pre-Lie algebras. The first of them leads to a functorial description of the underlying vector space of the universal enveloping pre-Lie algebra of a given Lie algebra, strengthening the PBW theorem of Segal. The two other Schur functors provide functorial descriptions of the underlying vector spaces of the universal multiplicative enveloping algebra and of the module of Kähler differentials of a given pre-Lie algebra. An important consequence of such descriptions is an interpretation of the cohomology of a pre-Lie algebra with coefficients in a module as a derived functor for the category of modules over the universal multiplicative enveloping algebra.

Homotopy invariants for $\overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n}$ via Koszul duality

We show that the integral cohomology rings of the moduli spaces of stable rational marked curves are Koszul. This answers an open question of Manin. Using the machinery of Koszul spaces developed by Berglund, we compute the rational homotopy Lie algebras of those spaces, and obtain some estimates for Betti numbers of their free loop spaces in case of torsion coefficients. We also prove and conjecture some generalisations of our main result.

A tale of three homotopies

For a Koszul operad $\mathcal{P}$, there are several existing approaches to the notion of a homotopy between homotopy morphisms of homotopy $\mathcal{P}$-algebras. Some of those approaches are known to give rise to the same notions. We exhibit the missing links between those notions, thus putting them all into the same framework. The main nontrivial ingredient in establishing this relationship is the homotopy transfer theorem for homotopy cooperads due to Drummond-Cole and Vallette.

Givental group action on Topological Field Theories and homotopy Batalin--Vilkovisky algebras

In this paper, we initiate the study of the Givental group action on Cohomological Field Theories in terms of homotopical algebra. More precisely, we show that the stabilisers of Topological Field Theories in genus 0 (respectively in genera 0 and 1) are in one-to-one correspondence with commutative homotopy Batalin--Vilkovisky algebras (respectively wheeled commutative homotopy BV-algebras).

Higher Koszul duality for associative algebras

We present a unifying framework for the key concepts and results of higher Koszul duality theory for N-homogeneous algebras: the Koszul complex, the candidate for the space of syzygies, and the higher operations on the Yoneda algebra. We give a universal description of the Koszul dual algebra under a new algebraic structure. For that we introduce a general notion: Gröbner bases for algebras over non-symmetric operads.

Pattern avoidance in labelled trees

We discuss a new notion of pattern avoidance motivated by the operad theory: pattern avoidance in planar labelled trees. It is a generalisation of various types of consecutive pattern avoidance studied before: consecutive patterns in words, permutations, coloured permutations etc. The notion of Wilf equivalence for patterns in permutations admits a straightforward generalisation for (sets of) tree patterns; we describe classes for trees with small numbers of leaves, and give several bijections between trees avoiding pattern sets from the same class. We also explain a few general results for tree pattern avoidance, both for the exact and the asymptotic enumeration.

Cacti and filtered distributive laws

Motivated by the second author's construction of a classifying space for the group of pure symmetric automorphisms of a free product, we introduce and study a family of topological operads, the operads of based cacti, defined for every pointed topological space $(Y,\bullet)$. These operads also admit linear versions, which are defined for every augmented graded cocommutative coalgebra $C$. We show that the homology of the topological operad of based $Y$-cacti is the linear operad of based $H_*(Y)$-cacti. In addition, we show that for every coalgebra $C$ the operad of based $C$-cacti is Koszul. To prove the latter result, we use the criterion of Koszulness for operads due to the first author, utilising the notion of a filtered distributive law between two quadratic operads. We also present a new proof of that criterion which works over the ground field of arbitrary characteristic.

Free resolutions via Gröbner bases

For associative algebras in many different categories, it is possible to develop the machinery of Gröbner bases. A Gröbner basis of defining relations for an algebra of such a category provides a "monomial replacement" of this algebra. The main goal of this article is to demonstrate how this machinery can be used for the purposes of homological algebra. More precisely, our approach goes in three steps. First, we define a combinatorial resolution for the monomial replacement of an object. Second, we extract from those resolutions explicit representatives for homological classes. Finally, we explain how to "deform" the differential to handle the general case. For associative algebras, we recover a well known construction due to Anick. The other case we discuss in detail is that of operads, where we discover resolutions that haven't been known previously. We present various applications, including a proofs of Hoffbeck's PBW criterion, a proof of Koszulness for a class of operads coming from commutative algebras, and a homology computation for the operads of Batalin--Vilkovisky algebras and of Rota--Baxter algebras.

Parafermionic theory with the symmetry Z_5

A parafermionic conformal theory with the symmetry Z_5 is constructed, based on the second solution of Fateev-Zamolodchikov for the corresponding parafermionic chiral algebra. The primary operators of the theory, which are the singlet, doublet 1, doublet 2, and disorder operators, are found to be accommodated by the weight lattice of the classical Lie algebra B_2. The finite Kac tables for unitary theories are defined and the formula for the conformal dimensions of primary operators is given.

Renormalisation group calculation of correlation functions for the 2D random bond Ising and Potts models

We find the cross-over behavior for the spin-spin correlation function for the 2D Ising and 3-states Potts model with random bonds at the critical point. The procedure employed is the renormalisation approach of the perturbation series around the conformal field theories representing the pure models. We obtain a crossover in the amplitude for the correlation function for the Ising model which doesn't change the critical exponent, and a shift in the critical exponent produced by randomness in the case of the Potts model. A comparison with numerical data is discussed briefly.

RENORMALIZATION GROUP SOLUTION FOR THE TWO-DIMENSIONAL RANDOM BOND POTTS MODEL WITH BROKEN REPLICA SYMMETRY

We find a new solution of the renormalization group for the Potts model with ferromagnetic random valued coupling constants. The solution exhibits universality and broken replica symmetry. It is argued that the model reaches this universality class if the replica symmetry is broken initially. Otherwise the model stays with the replica symmetric renormalization group flow and reaches the fixed point which has been considered before.
