Anisotropic Landau-Lifshitz Model in Discrete Space-Time

We construct an integrable lattice model of classical interacting spins in discrete space-time, representing a discrete-time analogue of the lattice Landau-Lifshitz ferromagnet with uniaxial anisotropy. As an application we use this explicit discrete symplectic integration scheme to compute the spin Drude weight and diffusion constant as functions of anisotropy and chemical potential. We demonstrate qualitatively different behavior in the easy-axis and the easy-plane regimes in the non-magnetized sector. Upon approaching the isotropic point we also find an algebraic divergence of the diffusion constant, signaling a crossover to spin superdiffusion.

Current correlations, Drude weights and large deviations in a box-ball system

We explore several aspects of the current fluctuations and correlations in the box-ball system (BBS), an integrable cellular automaton in one space dimension. The state we consider is an ensemble of microscopic configurations where the box occupancies are independent random variables (i.i.d. state), with a given mean ball density. We compute several quantities exactly in such homogeneous stationary state: the mean value and the variance of the number of balls $N_t$ crossing the origin during time $t$, and the scaled cumulants generating function associated to $N_t$. We also compute two spatially integrated current-current correlations. The first one, involving the long-time limit of the current-current correlations, is the so-called Drude weight and is obtained with thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz (TBA). The second one, involving equal time current-current correlations is calculated using a transfer matrix approach. A family of generalized currents, associated to the conserved charges and to the different time evolutions of the models are constructed. The long-time limits of their correlations generalize the Drude weight and the second cumulant of $N_t$ and are found to obey nontrivial symmetry relations. They are computed using TBA and the results are found to be in good agreement with microscopic simulations of the model. TBA is also used to compute explicitly the whole family of flux Jacobian matrices. Finally, some of these results are extended to a (non-i.i.d.) two-temperatures generalized Gibbs state (with one parameter coupled to the total number of balls, and another one coupled to the total number of solitons).

Spin-Ruijsenaars, q-deformed Haldane-Shastry and Macdonald polynomials

We study the $q$-analogue of the Haldane-Shastry model, a partially isotropic (XXZ-like) long-range spin chain that enjoys quantum-affine (really: quantum-loop) symmetries at finite size. We derive the pairwise form of the Hamiltonian, found by one of us building on work of Uglov, via 'freezing' from the affine Hecke algebra. We obtain explicit expressions for the spin-analogue of Macdonald operators. Through freezing these yield the higher Hamiltonians of the spin chain, including a Hamiltonian of the opposite chirality. The sum of the two chiral Hamiltonians has a real spectrum also for $q$ a root of unity. We clarify the relation between patterns labelling the eigenspaces, known as 'motifs', and the corresponding degeneracies in the crystal limit $q\to\infty$. For each motif we obtain an explicit expression for the exact eigenvector, valid for generic $q$, that has ('pseudo' or 'l-') highest weight in the sense that, in terms of the operators from the monodromy matrix, it is an eigenvector of $A$ and $D$ and annihilated by $C$. It has a simple component featuring the 'symmetric square' of the $q$-Vandermonde times a Macdonald polynomial - or more precisely its quantum spherical zonal special case. Its other components are obtained through the action of the Hecke algebra, followed by 'evaluation' of the variables to roots of unity. We prove that our vectors have highest weight upon evaluation. Our description of the spectrum is complete. The model, including the quantum-loop action, can be reformulated in terms of polynomials. Our main tools are the $Y$-operators of the affine Hecke algebra. The key step in our diagonalisation is that on a subspace of suitable polynomials the first $M$ 'classical' (i.e. no difference part) $Y$-operators in $N$ variables reduce, upon evaluation as above, to $Y$-operators in $M$ variables with parameters at the quantum zonal spherical point.

Inverse participation ratios in the XXZ spin chain

We investigate numerically the inverse participation ratios in a spin-1/2 XXZ chain, computed in the "Ising" basis (i.e., eigenstates of $σ^z_i$). We consider in particular a quantity $T$, defined by summing the inverse participation ratios of all the eigenstates in the zero magnetization sector of a finite chain of length $N$, with open boundary conditions. From a dynamical point of view, $T$ is proportional to the stationary return probability to an initial basis state, averaged over all the basis states (initial conditions). We find that $T$ exhibits an exponential growth, $T\sim\exp(aN)$, in the gapped phase of the model and a linear scaling, $T\sim N$, in the gapless phase. These two different behaviors are analyzed in terms of the distribution of the participation ratios of individual eigenstates. We also investigate the effect of next-nearest-neighbor interactions, which break the integrability of the model. Although the massive phase of the non-integrable model also has $T\sim\exp(aN)$, in the gapless phase $T$ appears to saturate to a constant value.

Pieri rules, vertex operators and Baxter Q-matrix

We use the Pieri rules to recover the q-boson model and show it is equivalent to a discretized version of the relativistic Toda chain. We identify its semi infinite transfer matrix and the corresponding Baxter Q-matrix with half vertex operators related by an ω-duality transformation. We observe that the scalar product of two higher spin XXZ wave functions can be expressed with a Gaudin determinant.

Bethe Ansatz and Q-operator for the open ASEP

In this paper, we look at the asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundaries with a current-counting deformation. We construct a two-parameter family of transfer matrices which commute with the deformed Markov matrix of the system. We show that these transfer matrices can be factorised into two commuting matrices with one parameter each, which can be identified with Baxter's Q-operator, and that for certain values of the product of those parameters, they decompose into a sum of two commuting matrices, one of which is the Bethe transfer matrix for a given dimension of the auxiliary space. Using this, we find the T-Q equation for the open ASEP, and, through functional Bethe Ansatz techniques, we obtain an exact expression for the dominant eigenvalue of the deformed Markov matrix.

Graphical Calculus for the Double Affine Q-Dependent Braid Group

We define a double affine $Q$-dependent braid group. This group is constructed by appending to the braid group a set of operators $Q_i$, before extending it to an affine $Q$-dependent braid group. We show specifically that the elliptic braid group and the double affine Hecke algebra (DAHA) can be obtained as quotient groups. Complementing this we present a pictorial representation of the double affine $Q$-dependent braid group based on ribbons living in a toroid. We show that in this pictorial representation we can fully describe any DAHA. Specifically, we graphically describe the parameter $q$ upon which this algebra is dependent and show that in this particular representation $q$ corresponds to a twist in the ribbon.

Anti de Sitter quantum field theory and a new class of hypergeometric identities

We use Anti-de Sitter quantum field theory to prove a new class of identities between hypergeometric functions related to the Källén-Lehmann representation of products of two Anti-de Sitter two-point functions. A rich mathematical structure emerges. We apply our results to study the decay of unstable Anti-de Sitter particles. The total amplitude is in this case finite and Anti-de Sitter invariant.

Conformal blocks in Virasoro and W theories: duality and the Calogero-Sutherland model

We study the properties of the conformal blocks of the conformal field theories with Virasoro or W-extended symmetry. When the conformal blocks contain only second-order degenerate fields, the conformal blocks obey second order differential equations and they can be interpreted as ground-state wave functions of a trigonometric Calogero-Sutherland Hamiltonian with non-trivial braiding properties. A generalized duality property relates the two types of second order degenerate fields. By studying this duality we found that the excited states of the Calogero-Sutherland Hamiltonian are characterized by two partitions, or in the case of WA_{k-1} theories by k partitions. By extending the conformal field theories under consideration by a u(1) field, we find that we can put in correspondence the states in the Hilbert state of the extended CFT with the excited non-polynomial eigenstates of the Calogero-Sutherland Hamiltonian. When the action of the Calogero-Sutherland integrals of motion is translated on the Hilbert space, they become identical to the integrals of motion recently discovered by Alba, Fateev, Litvinov and Tarnopolsky in Liouville theory in the context of the AGT conjecture. Upon bosonisation, these integrals of motion can be expressed as a sum of two, or in general k, bosonic Calogero-Sutherland Hamiltonian coupled by an interaction term with a triangular structure. For special values of the coupling constant, the conformal blocks can be expressed in terms of Jack polynomials with pairing properties, and they give electron wave functions for special Fractional Quantum Hall states

Phase transition in the Rényi-Shannon entropy of Luttinger liquids

The Rényi-Shannon entropy associated to critical quantum spins chain with central charge $c=1$ is shown to have a phase transition at some value $n_c$ of the Rényi parameter $n$ which depends on the Luttinger parameter (or compactification radius R). Using a new replica-free formulation, the entropy is expressed as a combination of single-sheet partition functions evaluated at $n-$ dependent values of the stiffness. The transition occurs when a vertex operator becomes relevant at the boundary. Our numerical results (exact diagonalizations for the XXZ and $J_1-J_2$ models) are in agreement with the analytical predictions: above $n_c=4/R^2$ the subleading and universal contribution to the entropy is $\ln(L)(R^2-1)/(4n-4)$ for open chains, and $\ln(R)/(1-n)$ for periodic ones (R=1 at the free fermion point). The replica approach used in previous works fails to predict this transition and turns out to be correct only for $n<n_c$. From the point of view of two-dimensional Rokhsar-Kivelson states, the transition reveals a rich structure in the entanglement spectra.

Rényi entanglement entropies in quantum dimer models : from criticality to topological order

Thanks to Pfaffian techniques, we study the Rényi entanglement entropies and the entanglement spectrum of large subsystems for two-dimensional Rokhsar-Kivelson wave functions constructed from a dimer model on the triangular lattice. By including a fugacity $t$ on some suitable bonds, one interpolates between the triangular lattice (t=1) and the square lattice (t=0). The wave function is known to be a massive $\mathbb Z_2$ topological liquid for $t>0$ whereas it is a gapless critical state at t=0. We mainly consider two geometries for the subsystem: that of a semi-infinite cylinder, and the disk-like setup proposed by Kitaev and Preskill [Phys. Rev. Lett. 96, 110404 (2006)]. In the cylinder case, the entropies contain an extensive term -- proportional to the length of the boundary -- and a universal sub-leading constant $s_n(t)$. Fitting these cylinder data (up to a perimeter of L=32 sites) provides $s_n$ with a very high numerical accuracy ($10^{-9}$ at t=1 and $10^{-6}$ at $t=0.5$). In the topological $\mathbb{Z}_2$ liquid phase we find $s_n(t>0)=-\ln 2$, independent of the fugacity $t$ and the Rényi parameter $n$. At t=0 we recover a previously known result, $s_n(t=0)=-(1/2)\ln(n)/(n-1)$ for $n<1$ and $s_n(t=0)=-\ln(2)/(n-1)$ for $n>1$. In the disk-like geometry -- designed to get rid of the boundary contributions -- we find an entropy $s^{\rm KP}_n(t>0)=-\ln 2$ in the whole massive phase whatever $n>0$, in agreement with the result of Flammia {\it et al.} [Phys. Rev. Lett. 103, 261601 (2009)]. Some results for the gapless limit $R^{\rm KP}_n(t\to 0)$ are discussed.

Rényi entropy of a line in two-dimensional Ising models

We consider the two-dimensional (2d) Ising model on a infinitely long cylinder and study the probabilities $p_i$ to observe a given spin configuration $i$ along a circular section of the cylinder. These probabilities also occur as eigenvalues of reduced density matrices in some Rokhsar-Kivelson wave-functions. We analyze the subleading constant to the Rényi entropy $R_n=1/(1-n) \ln (\sum_i p_i^n)$ and discuss its scaling properties at the critical point. Studying three different microscopic realizations, we provide numerical evidence that it is universal and behaves in a step-like fashion as a function of $n$, with a discontinuity at the Shannon point $n=1$. As a consequence, a field theoretical argument based on the replica trick would fail to give the correct value at this point. We nevertheless compute it numerically with high precision. Two other values of the Rényi parameter are of special interest: $n=1/2$ and $n=\infty$ are related in a simple way to the Affleck-Ludwig boundary entropies associated to free and fixed boundary conditions respectively.

Triangular invariants, three-point functions and particle stability on the de Sitter universe

We study a class of three-point functions on the de Sitter universe and on the asymptotic cone. A blending of geometrical ideas and analytic methods is used to compute some remarkable integrals, on the basis of a generalized star-triangle identity living on the cone and on the complex de Sitter manifold. We discuss an application of the general results to the study of the stability of scalar particles on the Sitter universe.
