Going beyond Soft plus Virtual

We present a formalism that sums up the soft-virtual (SV) and next-to-SV (NSV) diagonal contributions to inclusive colorless productions in hadron colliders to all orders in perturbative QCD. Using factorisation theorem, renormalisation group invariance and employing the transcendental structure of perturbative results, we show the exponential behavior of soft-collinear function. This allows us to predict certain SV and NSV terms to all orders from lower order information. We also present an integral representation for the coefficient functions which is suitable for Mellin $N$-space resummation.

Next to SV resummed prediction for pseudoscalar Higgs boson production at NNLO$+\overline{\text{NNLL}}$

We present first results on the resummation of Next-to-Soft Virtual (NSV) logarithms for the threshold production of pseudoscalar Higgs boson through gluon fusion at the LHC. These results are presented after resumming the NSV logarithms of the kind ${\log}^{i}(1-z)$ to $\overline{\text{NNLL}}$ accuracy and matching them systematically to the fixed order NNLO cross-sections. These results are obtained using collinear factorization, renormalization group invariance and recent developments in the NSV resummation techniques. The phenomenological implications of these NSV resummed results for 13 TeV LHC are studied and it is observed that these NSV logarithms are quite large. We also evaluate theory uncertainties and find that the renormalization scale uncertainties get reduced further with the inclusion of NSV corrections at various orders in QCD. We further study the impact of QCD corrections on mixed scalar-pseudoscalar states for different values of the mixing angle $α$.

Next-to SV resummed Drell-Yan cross section beyond leading-logarithm

We present the resummed predictions for inclusive cross section for Drell-Yan (DY) production up to next-to-next-to leading logarithmic ($\rm \overline{ NNLL}$) accuracy taking into account both soft virtual (SV) and next-to SV (NSV) threshold logarithms. We restrict ourselves to resummed contributions only from quark anti-quark ($q \bar q$) initiated channels. The resummation is performed in Mellin-$N$ space. We derive the $N$-dependent coefficients and the $N$-independent constants to desired accuracy for our study. The resummed results are matched through the minimal prescription procedure with the fixed order results. We find that the resummation, taking into account the NSV terms, appreciably increases the cross section while decreasing the sensitivity to renormalisation scale. \textcolor{black}{We observe that, at 13 TeV LHC energies, the SV+NSV resummation at $\rm \overline{ NLL} (\rm \overline{NNLL})$ gives about 8\% (2\%) corrections respectively to the NLO (NNLO) results for the considered $Q$ range: 150-3500 GeV}. In addition, the absence of quark gluon initiated contributions to NSV part in the resummed terms leaves large factorisation scale dependence indicating their importance at NSV level. We also study the numerical impact of $N$-independent constants and explore the ambiguity involved in exponetiating them. Finally we present our predictions for the neutral Drell-Yan process at various center of mass of energies.

On next to soft corrections to Drell-Yan and Higgs Boson productions

We present a framework that resums threshold enhanced large logarithms to all orders in perturbation theory for the production of a pair of leptons in Drell-Yan process and of Higgs boson in gluon fusion as well as in bottom quark annihilation. We restrict ourselves to contributions from diagonal partonic channels. These logarithms include the distributions $((1-z)^{-1} \ln^i(1-z))_+$ resulting from soft plus virtual (SV) and the logarithms $\ln^i(1-z)$ from next-to-SV (NSV) contributions. We use collinear factorisation and renormalisation group invariance to achieve this. The former allows one to define a Soft-Collinear (SC) function which encapsulates soft and collinear dynamics of the perturbative results to all orders in strong coupling constant. The logarithmic structure of these results are governed by universal infrared anomalous dimensions and process dependent functions of Sudakov differential equation that the SC satisfies. The solution to the differential equation is obtained by proposing an all-order ansatz in dimensional regularisation, owing to several state-of-the-art perturbative results available to third order. The $z$ space solutions thus obtained provide an integral representation to sum up large logarithms originating from both soft and collinear configurations, conveniently in Mellin $N$ space. We show that in $N$ space, tower of logarithms $a_s^n/N^α\ln^{2n-α} (N), a_s^n/N^α\ln^{2n-1-α}(N) \cdots $ etc for $α=0,1$ are summed to all orders in $a_s$.

Two-loop amplitudes for di-Higgs and di-pseudo-Higgs productions through quark annihilation in QCD

Through this article, we present the two-loop massless QCD corrections to the production of di-Higgs and di-pseudo-Higgs boson through quark annihilation in the large top quark mass limit. Within dimensional regularisation, we employ the non-anticommuting $γ_5$ and treat it under the Larin prescription. We discover the absence of any additional renormalisation, so-called contact renormalisation, that could arise from the short distance behaviour of two local operators. This finding is in corroboration with the operator product expansion. By examining the results, we discover the lack of similarity in the highest transcendentality weight terms between these finite remainders and that of a pair of half-BPS primary operators in maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We need these newly computed finite remainders to calculate observables involving di-Higgs or di-pseudo-Higgs at the next-to-next-to-leading order. We implement the results to a numerical code for further phenomenological studies.

Polarised Amplitudes and Soft-Virtual Cross Sections for $b\bar b \rightarrow ZH$ at NNLO in QCD

Production of the Higgs boson, $H$ in association with a massive vector boson, $V$, i.e., the $VH$ process, plays an important role in the explorations of Higgs physics at the Large Hadron Collider, both for a precise study of Higgs' Standard Model couplings and for probing New Physics. In this publication we present the two-loop corrections in massless quantum chromodynamics (QCD) to the amplitude of the Higgs production associated with a $Z$ boson via the bottom quark-antiquark annihilation channel with a non-vanishing bottom-quark Yukawa coupling, which is a necessary ingredient of the full next-to-next-to-leading-order QCD corrections to the $VH$ process in the five-flavour scheme. The computation is performed by projecting the D-dimensional scattering amplitude directly onto an appropriate set of Lorentz structures related to the linear polarisation states of the $Z$ boson. We provide analytic expressions of the complete set of renormalised polarised amplitudes in terms of polylogarithms of maximum weight four. To give an estimation of the size of contributions from amplitudes considered in this work, we compute numerically the resulting cross sections under the soft-virtual approximation. We also take the opportunity to make a dedicated discussion regarding an interesting subtlety appearing in the conventional form factor decomposition of amplitudes involving axial currents regularised in D dimensions.

Resummed Drell-Yan cross-section at N$^3$LL

We present the resummed predictions for inclusive cross-section for Drell-Yan (DY) production as well as onshell $Z,W^\pm$ productions at next-to-next-to-next-to leading logarithmic (N$^{3}$LL) accuracy. Using the standard techniques, we derive the $N$-dependent coefficients in the Mellin-$N$ space as well as the $N$-independent constants and match the resummed result through the minimal prescription matching procedure with that of existing next-to next-to leading order (NNLO). In addition to the standard $\ln N$ exponentiation, we study the numerical impacts of exponentiating $N$-independent part of the soft function and the complete $\bar{g}_0$ that appears in the resummed predictions in $N$ space. All the analytical pieces needed in these different approaches are extracted from the soft-virtual part of the inclusive cross section known to next-to-next-to-next-to leading order (N$^3$LO). We perform a detailed analysis on the scale and parton distribution function (PDF) variations and present predictions for the 13 TeV LHC for the neutral Drell-Yan process as well as onshell charged and neutral vector boson productions.

Pseudo-scalar Higgs boson production at N$^3$LO$_{\text{A}}$+N$^3$LL$^\prime$

We consider the production of a pseudo-scalar particle $A$ at the LHC, and present accurate theoretical predictions for its inclusive cross section in gluon fusion. The prediction is based on combining fixed-order perturbation theory and all-order threshold resummation. At fixed order we include the exact next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) plus an approximate next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO$_{\rm A}$) which is based on the recent computation at this order for the scalar case. We then add threshold resummation at next-to-next-to-next-to leading logarithmic accuracy (N$^3$LL$^\prime$). Various forms of threshold resummation are considered, differing by the treatment of subleading terms, allowing a robust estimate of the theoretical uncertainties due to missing higher orders. With particular attention to pseudo-scalar masses of $200$ GeV and $750$ GeV, we also observe that perturbative convergence is much improved when resummation is included. Additionally, results obtained with threshold resummation in direct QCD are compared with analogous results as computed in soft-collinear effective theory, which turn out to be in good agreement. We provide precise predictions for pseudo-scalar inclusive cross section at $13$ TeV LHC for a wide range of masses. The results are available through updated versions of the public codes ggHiggs and TROLL.

Two-loop QCD Correction to Massive Spin-2 Resonance $ \to q ~ \bar{q} ~ g $

Two-loop QCD correction to massive spin-2 Graviton decaying to $q ~ + ~ \bar{q}~ + ~g$ is presented considering a generic universal spin-2 coupling to the SM through the conserved energy-momentum tensor. Such a massive spin-2 particle can arise in extra-dimensional models. The ultraviolet and infrared structure of the QCD amplitudes are studied. In dimensional regularisation, the infrared pole structure is in agreement with Catani's proposal, confirming the universal factorization property of QCD amplitudes, even with the spin-2 tensorial coupling. This computation now completes the full two-loop QCD corrections for the production of a spin-2 in association with a jet.

Pseudo-scalar Form Factors at Three Loops in QCD

The coupling of a pseudo-scalar Higgs boson to gluons is mediated through a heavy quark loop. In the limit of large quark mass, it is described by an effective Lagrangian that only admits light degrees of freedom. In this effective theory, we compute the three-loop massless QCD corrections to the form factor that describes the coupling of a pseudo-scalar Higgs boson to gluons. Due to the axial anomaly, the pseudo-scalar operator for the gluonic field strength mixes with the divergence of the axial vector current. Working in dimensional regularization and using the 't~Hooft-Veltman prescription for the axial vector current, we compute the three-loop pseudo-scalar form factors for massless quarks and gluons. Using the universal infrared factorization properties, we independently derive the three-loop operator mixing and finite operator renormalisation from the renormalisation group equation for the form factors, thereby confirming recent results in the operator product expansion. The finite part of the three-loop form factor is an important ingredient to the precise prediction of the pseudo-scalar Higgs boson production cross section at hadron colliders. We discuss potential applications and derive the hard matching coefficient in soft-collinear effective theory.

Pseudo-scalar Higgs Boson Production at Threshold N$^3$LO and N$^3$LL QCD

We present the first results on the production of pseudo-scalar through gluon fusion at the LHC to N$^3$LO in QCD taking into account only soft gluon effects. We have used the effective Lagrangian that describes the coupling of pseudo-scalar with the gluons in the large top quark mass limit. We have used recently available quantities namely the three loop pseudo-scalar form factor and the third order universal soft function in QCD to achieve this. Along with the fixed order results, we also present the process dependent resummation coefficient for threshold resummation to N$^3$LL in QCD. Phenomenological impact of these threshold N$^3$LO corrections to pseudo-scalar production at the LHC is presented and their role to reduce the renormalisation scale dependence is demonstrated.

RG improved Higgs boson production to N$^3$LO in QCD

The recent result on the third order correction to the Higgs boson production through gluon fusion by Anastasiou et al. [1] not only provides a precise prediction with reduced scale uncertainties for studying the Higgs boson properties but also establishes the reliability of the perturbative QCD. In this letter, we propose a novel approach to further reduce the uncertainty arising from the renormalization scale by systematically resumming the renormalization group (RG) accessible logarithms to all orders in the strong coupling constant. Our numerical study based on this approach, demonstrates a significant improvement over the fixed order predictions.

Spin-2 Form Factors at Three Loop in QCD

Spin-2 fields are often candidates in physics beyond the Standard Model namely the models with extra-dimensions where spin-2 Kaluza-Klein gravitons couple to the fields of the SM. Also, in the context of Higgs searches, spin-2 fields have been studied as an alternative to the scalar Higgs boson. In this article, we present the complete three loop QCD radiative corrections to the spin-2 quark-antiquark and spin-2 gluon-gluon form factors in SU(N) gauge theory with $n_f$ light flavors. These form factors contribute to both quark-antiquark and gluon-gluon initiated processes involving spin-2 particle in the hadronic reactions at the LHC. We have studied the structure of infrared singularities in these form factors up to three loop level using Sudakov integro-differential equation and found that the anomalous dimensions originating from soft and collinear regions of the loop integrals coincide with those of the electroweak vector boson and Higgs form factors confirming the universality of the infrared singularities in QCD amplitudes.

A framework for Higgs characterisation

We introduce a framework, based on an effective field theory approach, that allows one to perform characterisation studies of the boson recently discovered at the LHC, for all the relevant channels and in a consistent, systematic and accurate way. The production and decay of such a boson with various spin and parity assignments can be simulated by means of multi-parton, tree-level matrix elements and of next-to-leading order QCD calculations, both matched with parton showers. Several sample applications are presented which show, in particular, that beyond-leading-order effects in QCD have non-trivial phenomenological implications.

Associated production of Higgs boson with vector boson at threshold N$^3$LO in QCD

We present the results for the associated production of Higgs boson with vector boson computed at threshold N$^3$LO in QCD. We use the recently available result on the threshold contributions to the inclusive Drell-Yan production cross-section at third order in strong coupling constant. We have implemented it in the publicly available computer package vh@nnlo, thereby obtaining the numerical impact of threshold N$^3$LO contributions for the first time. We find that the inclusion of such corrections do reduce theoretical uncertainties resulting from the renormalization scale.

Drell-Yan Production at Threshold to Third Order in QCD

The recent computation on the full threshold contributions to Higgs boson production at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) in QCD contains valuable information on the soft gluons resulting from virtual and real emission partonic subprocesses. We use those from the real emissions to obtain the corresponding soft gluon contributions to Drell-Yan production and determine the missing $δ(1-z)$ part of the N$^3$LO. The numerical impact of threshold effects demonstrates the importance of our results in the precision study with the Drell-Yan process at the LHC.

Higgs boson production through $b \bar b$ annihilation at threshold in N$^3$LO QCD

We present threshold enhanced N$^3$LO QCD corrections to inclusive Higgs production through bottom anti-bottom annihilation at hadron colliders using threshold resummed cross section. The resummed cross section is obtained using factorization properties and Sudakov resummation of the inclusive cross section. We use the recent results on threshold N$^3$LO corrections in QCD for Drell-Yan production and three loop QCD corrections to Higgs form factor with bottom anti-bottom quark to achieve this task. This is the first step towards the evaluation of complete N$^3$LO result. We have numerically demonstrated the importance of such corrections at the LHC.

We present the rapidity distribution of the Higgs boson produced through bottom quark annihilation at third order in QCD using the threshold approximation. We provide a framework, based on the factorization properties of the QCD amplitudes along with Sudakov resummation and the renormalization group invariance, that allows one to perform the computation of the threshold corrections in a consistent, systematic and accurate way. The recent results on threshold N$^3$LO correction in QCD for the Drell-Yan production and on three loop QCD correction to Higgs form factor with bottom anti-bottom quark are used to achieve this task. We also demonstrate the numerical impact of these corrections at the LHC.

Quark and gluon spin-2 form factors to two-loops in QCD

We present complete two-loop radiative corrections to the graviton-quark-antiquark form factor G^* \rightarrow q \overline q and graviton-gluon-gluon form factor G^* \rightarrow g g in SU(N) gauge theory with n_f light flavours using d-dimensional regularisation to all orders in \varepsilon=d-4. This is an important ingredient to next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to hadronic scattering processes in models with large extra-dimensions where Kaluza-Klein graviton modes couple to Standard Model fields. We show that these form factors obey Sudakov integro-differential equation and the resulting cusp, collinear and soft anomalous dimensions coincide with those of electroweak vector boson and gluon form factors. We also find the universal behaviour of the infrared singularities in accordance with the proposal by Catani.

Rapidity Distributions in Drell-Yan and Higgs Productions at Threshold to Third Order in QCD

We present the threshold N$^3$LO perturbative QCD corrections to the rapidity distributions of dileptons in the Drell-Yan process and Higgs boson in gluon fusion. Sudakov resummation of QCD amplitudes, renormalization group invariance, and the mass factorization theorem provide useful guidelines to obtain them in an elegant manner. We use various state of the art three loop results that have been recently available to obtain these distributions. For the Higgs boson, we demonstrate numerically the importance of these corrections at the LHC.

Decay of the electroweak gauge boson final states to different leptonic states are included at the showering stage. A selection of the results has been presented with PDF and scale uncertainties for various distributions. Two-Loop QCD Correction to massive spin-2 resonance $\rightarrow$ 3 gluons

We present the ${\cal O}(α_s^3)$ virtual QCD corrections to the process $h \rightarrow g+g+g$ due to interference of born and two-loop amplitudes, where $h$ is a massive spin-2 particle and $g$ is the gluon. We assume that the SM fields couple to $h$ through the SM energy momentum tensor. Our result constitutes one of the ingredients to full NNLO QCD contribution to production of a massive spin-2 particle along with a jet in the scattering process at the LHC. In particular, this massive spin-2 could be a KK mode of a ADD graviton in large extra dimensional model or a RS KK mode in warped extra dimensional model or a generic massive spin-2. In addition, it provides an opportunity to study the ultraviolet and infrared structures of QCD amplitudes involving tensorial coupling resulting from energy momentum operator. Using dimensional regularization, we find that infrared poles of this amplitude are in agreement with the proposal by Catani confirming the factorization property of QCD amplitudes with tensorial insertion.

Two-Loop QCD Corrections to Higgs $\rightarrow b + \bar{b} + g$ Amplitude

Exclusive observables involving Higgs boson in association with jets are often well suited to study the Higgs boson properties. They are rates involving cuts on the final state jets or differential distributions of rapidity, transverse momentum of the observed Higgs boson. While they get dominant contributions from gluon initiated partonic subprocesses, it is important to include the subdominant ones coming from other channels. In this article, we study one such channel namely the Higgs production in association with a jet in bottom anti-bottom annihilation process. We compute relevant amplitude $H\rightarrow b+\overline b+g$ up to two loop level in QCD where Higgs couples to bottom quark through Yukawa coupling. We use projection operators to obtain the coefficients for each tensorial structure appearing in this process. We have demonstrated that the renormalized amplitudes do have the right infrared structure predicted by the QCD factorization in dimensional regularization. The finite parts of the one and two loop amplitudes are presented after subtracting the infrared poles using Catani's subtraction operators.

Next-to-Next-to-Leading Order QCD Corrections in Models of TeV-Scale Gravity

We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the graviton production in models of TeV-scale gravity, within the soft-virtual approximation. For the Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali (ADD) model we evaluate the contribution to the Drell-Yan cross section, and we present distributions for the di-lepton invariant mass at the LHC with a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_H}=14\text{TeV}$. We find a large $K$ factor ($K\simeq 1.8$) for large values of invariant mass, which is the region where the ADD graviton contribution dominates the cross section. The increase in the cross section with respect to the previous order result is larger than $10\%$ in the same invariant mass region. We also observe a substantial reduction in the scale uncertainty. For the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model we computed the total single graviton production cross section at the LHC. We find an increase between $10\%$ and $13\%$ with respect to the next-to-leading order prediction, depending on the model parameters. We provide an analytic expression for the NNLO $K$ factor as a function of the lightest RS graviton mass.

Spin-analysis of s-channel diphoton resonances at the LHC

The high mass neutral quantum states envisaged by theories of physics beyond the standard model can at the hadron colliders reveal themselves through their decay into a pair of photons. Once such a peak in the diphoton invariant mass distribution is discovered, the determination of its spin through the distinctive photon angular distributions is needed in order to identify the associated nonstandard dynamics. We here discuss the discrimination of the spin-2 Randall-Sundrum graviton excitation against the hypothesis of a spin-0 exchange giving the same number of events under the peak, by means of the angular analysis applied to resonant diphoton events expected to be observed at the LHC. The spin-0 hypothesis is modelled by an effective interaction of a high mass gauge singlet scalar particle interacting with the standard model fields. The basic observable of our analysis is the symmetrically integrated angular asymmetry $A_{CE}$, calculated for both graviton and scalar s-channel exchanges to next-to-leading order in QCD.

Mellin Moments of the Next-to-next-to Leading Order Coefficient Functions for the Drell-Yan Process and Hadronic Higgs-Boson Production

We calculate the Mellin moments of the next-to-next-to leading order coefficient functions for the Drell--Yan and Higgs production cross sections. The results can be expressed in terms of multiple finite harmonic sums of maximal weight w = 4. This representation reduces the large complexity being present in x-space calculations and is well suited for fast numerical implementations.

Next-to-Leading Order QCD Corrections to the Drell-Yan Cross Section in Models of TeV-Scale Gravity

The first results on next-to-leading order QCD corrections to graviton-induced processes in hadron collisions in models of TeV-scale gravity are presented focusing on the case of dilepton pair production in \bar p p and pp collisions. Distributions in the invariant mass Q, the longitudinal fraction x_F, the rapidity Y and the forward-backward asymmetry of the lepton pair are studied. The quantitative impact of the QCD corrections for searches of extra dimensions at hadron colliders is investigated. It turns out that at the LHC (\sqrt{S}=14 TeV) the K-factor is rather large (K=1.6) for large invariant mass Q of the lepton pair, indicating the importance of accounting for these QCD corrections in the experimental search for TeV-scale gravity. At the Tevatron, the K-factor does not substantially deviate from the Standard Model value. However, its inclusion is necessitated to make the cross-section stable with respect to scale variations.

All QCD partonic subprocesses have been included provided the lepton pair is created by a virtual photon, which is a valid approximation for $Q<50$ GeV. Unlike the differential distribution w.r.t. transverse momentum the dominant subprocess for the integrated cross section is given by $q+\bar q \to γ^* + 'X'$ and its higher order corrections so that massive lepton pair production provides us with an excellent tool to measure the polarized anti-quark densities. Our calculations are carried out using the method of $n$-dimensional regularization by making a special choice for the $γ_5$ matrix. We give predictions for double longitudinal spin asymmetry measurements at the RHIC.

Two-loop corrections to Higgs boson production

In this paper we present the complete two-loop vertex corrections to scalar and pseudo-scalar Higgs boson production for general colour factors for the gauge group ${\rm SU(N)}$ in the limit where the top quark mass gets infinite. We derive a general formula for the vertex correction which holds for conserved and non conserved operators. For the conserved operator we take the electromagnetic vertex correction as an example whereas for the non conserved operators we take the two vertex corrections above. Our observations for the structure of the pole terms $1/ε^4$, $1/ε^3$ and $1/ε^2$ in two loop order are the same as made earlier in the literature for electromagnetism. However we also elucidate the origin of the second order single pole term which is equal to the second order singular part of the anomalous dimension plus a universal function which is the same for the quark and the gluon. NNLO corrections to the total cross section for Higgs boson production in hadron-hadron collisions

We present the next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) corrections to the total cross section for (pseudo-) scalar Higgs boson production using an alternative method than those used in previous calculations. All QCD partonic subprocesses have been included and the computation is carried out in the effective Lagrangian approach which emerges from the standard model by taking the limit $m_t \to \infty$ where $m_t$ denotes the mass of the top quark. Our results agree with those published earlier in the literature. We estimate the theoretical uncertainties by comparing the $K$-factors and the variation with respect to the mass factorization/renormalization scales with the results obtained by lower order calculations. We also investigate the dependence of the cross section on several parton density sets provided by different groups. Further we study which part of the coefficient functions dominates the cross section. This is of interest for the resummation of large corrections which occur near the boundary of phase space. It turns out that depending on the definition of the total cross section the latter is dominated by the the soft-plus-virtual gluon corrections represented by $δ(1-x)$ and $(\ln^i(1-x)/(1-x))_+$ terms. NLO differential distributions of massive lepton-pair production in longitudinally polarized proton-proton collisions

We present the full next-to-leading order (NLO) corrected inclusive cross section $d^3Δσ/dQ^2/dy/dp_T$ for massive lepton pair production in longitudinally polarized proton-proton collisions $p + p\to l^+l^- + 'X'$. Here $'X'$ denotes any inclusive hadronic state and Q represents the invariant mass of the lepton pair which has transverse momentum p_T and rapidity y. All QCD partonic subprocesses have been included provided the lepton pair is created by a virtual photon, which is a valid approximation for $Q<50{\rm GeV}$. Like in unpolarized proton-proton scattering the dominant subprocess is given by $q(\bar q) + g \to γ^* + 'X'$ so that massive lepton pair production provides us with an excellent method to measure the spin density of the gluon. Our calculations are carried out using the method of n-dimensional regularization by making a special choice for the $γ_5$-matrix. Like in the case of many other prescriptions evanescent counter terms appear. They are determined by computing the NLO coefficient functions for $dΔσ/dQ^2$ and the polarized cross section for Higgs production using both n-dimensional regularization and a four dimensional regularization technique in which the $γ_5$-matrix is uniquely defined. Our calculations reveal that the non-singlet polarized coefficient function equals the unpolarized one up to a minus sign. We give predictions for double longitudinal spin asymmetry measurements at the RHIC.

Heavy flavour mass corrections to the longitudinal and transverse cross sections in e^+e^- - collisions

The sentence, 7th line below Eq. (28), starting with "Further we exclude all interference terms ...." is wrong and has been corrected. Eq. (33) : f_k^{l,(i)} -> h_k^{l,(i)} i=0,1 Second line below Eq. (33) m_bar(m)=m is replaced by m_bar(μ_0)=μ_0 with μ_0=4.10 GeV and μ_0=166.1 GeV for bottom and top respectively. The numbers in the third column of tables 1 and 2 are a little bit changed.

Neutrino Mass Constraints on R violation and HERA anomaly

R parity violating trilinear couplings $λ'_{1jk}$ of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) are constrained from the limit on the electron neutrino mass. Strong limits on these couplings follow from the earlier neglected contribution due to sneutrino vacuum expectation values. The limits on most of the $λ'_{1jk}$ couplings derived here are stronger than the existing ones for a wide range in parameters of MSSM. These limits strongly constrain the interpretation of recent HERA results in $e^+ p$ scattering in terms of production of squarks through $R$ violating couplings. In particular, the interpretation in terms of $\tilde{t}_L$ production off strange quark as suggested recently is not viable for wide ranges in MSSM parameters.

Order $α_s(Q^2)$ QCD corrections to the polarised $e^+~e^- \to Λ~X$

The importance of polarised gluons fragmenting into $Λ$ in the polarised $e^+ e^-$ annihilation is discussed using the Altarelli-Parisi evolution equations satisfied by the quark and gluon fragmentation functions. In this context, the polarised fragmentaion function $\hat g_1^Λ(x,Q^2)$ appearing in the cross section is discussed within the parton model. We relate this fragmentation function to the quark, anti-quark and gluon fragmentation functions and also find the QCD corrections to order $α_s$.

The Polarised $Λ$ production in QCD

The $Q^2$ evolution of polarised parton fragmentation functions is discussed using Altarelli-Parisi evolution equations. The first moments of both polarised quark and gluon fragmentation functions are shown to behave in a similar fashion at very high energies. This analysis is applicable to any hard processes involving production of polarised hadrons. The polarised $Λ$ hyperon production in $e^+~e^-$ annihilation where this can be realised is considered. We present a complete $α_s(Q^2)$ corrections to the asymmetries discussed in the paper of Burkardt and Jaffe which demonstrates the extraction of various polarised fragmentation functions. To this order, these corrections are found to be scheme dependent similar to that of structure functions.

Photon Structure Functions: Target Photon Mass Effects and QCD Corrections

We present a systematic analysis of the processes $e^+ ~e^- \rightarrow e^+ ~e^- X$ to study the polarised and unpolarised photon structure functions. The effect of target photon mass, which manifests itself as new singly polarised structure functions is studied. The physical interpretation of these structure functions in terms of hadronic components is given using the free field analysis. Assuming factorisation of the photon structure tensor, the relevant QCD corrections to the various structure functions are evaluated. The effect of the target photon mass and QCD corrections on the unpolarised and polarised cross sections are also studied.

Can Polarised Drell-Yan Shed More Light On The Proton Spin?

We analyse polarised Drell-Yan process using the factorisation method and derive operator definitions for polarised parton distribution functions. We demonstrate that a factorisation analogous to that in the unpolarised Drell-Yan case holds in this process. We study the leading order gluonic contribution to the first moment of polarised Drell-Yan function and show that it is consistent with results obtained from polarised deep inelastic scattering.
