Calibration of MPD Electromagnetic Calorimeter with Muons

Shashlyk-type electromagnetic calorimeter (ECal) of the Multi-Purpose Detector at heavy-ion NICA collider is optimized to provide precise spatial and energy measurements for photons and electrons in the energy range from about 40 MeV to 2-3 GeV. To deal with high multiplicity of secondary particles from Au-Au reactions, ECal has a fine segmentation and consists of 38,400 cells ("towers"). Given the big number of "towers" and the time constraint, it is not possible to calibrate every ECal "tower" with beam. In this paper, we describe the strategy of the first-order calibration of ECal with cosmic muons.

A new measurement of the neutron detection efficiency for the NaI Crystal Ball detector

We report on a measurement of the neutron detection efficiency in NaI crystals in the Crystal Ball detector obtained from a study of single p0 photoproduction on deuterium using the tagged photon beam at the Mainz Microtron. The results were obtained up to a neutron energy of 400 MeV. They are compared to previous measurements made more than 15 years ago at the pion beam at the BNL AGS.

γγγγ physics with the KLOE experiment

The processes e+e−→e+e−Xe^+e^-\to e^+e^-X, with XX being either the ηη meson or π0π0π^0π^0, are studied at DAΦΦNE, with e+e−e^+e^- beams colliding at s≃1\sqrt{s}\simeq1 GeV, below the ϕϕ resonance peak. The data sample is from an integrated luminosity of 240 pb−1^{-1}, collected by the KLOE experiment without tagging of the outgoing e+e−e^+e^-. Preliminary results are presented on the observation of the γγ→ηγγ\toη process, with both η→π+π−π0η\toπ^+π^-π^0 and η→π0π0π0η\toπ^0π^0π^0 channels, and the evidence for γγ→π0π0γγ\toπ^0π^0 production at low π0π0π^0π^0 invariant mass.

Measurement of Γ(η→π+π−γ)/Γ(η→π+π−π0)Γ(η\to π^+π^-γ)/Γ(η\to π^+π^-π^0) with KLOE experiment

We report the measurement of the ratio Γ(η→π+π−γ)/Γ(η→π+π−π0)Γ(η\to π^+π^-γ)/Γ(η\to π^+π^-π^0) analyzing a large sample of ϕ→ηγϕ\to ηγ decays recorded with the KLOE experiment at the DAΦΦNE e+e−e^+ e^- collider, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 558 pb−1^{-1}. The η→π+π−γη\to π^+π^-γ process is supposed to proceed both via a resonant contribution, mediated by the ρρ meson, and a non resonant direct term, connected to the box anomaly. The presence of the direct term affects the partial width value. Our result Rη=Γ(η→π+π−γ)/Γ(η→π+π−π0)=0.1838±0.0005stat±0.0030systR_η=Γ(η\to π^+ π^- γ)/Γ(η\to π^+ π^- π^0)= 0.1838\pm 0.0005_{stat} \pm 0.0030_{syst} is in agreement with a recent CLEO measurement, which differs by more 3 σσ from the average of previous results.

Measurement of the η→3π0η\to 3π^{0} slope parameter αα with the KLOE detector

We present a measurement of the slope parameter αα for the η→3π0η\to 3π^{0} decay, with the KLOE experiment at the DAΦΦNE ϕϕ-factory, based on a background free sample of ∼\sim 17 millions ηη mesons produced in ϕϕ radiative decays. By fitting the event density in the Dalitz plot we determine α=−0.0301±0.0035 stat  −0.0035+0.0022 syst α= -0.0301 \pm 0.0035\,stat\;_{-0.0035}^{+0.0022}\,syst\,. The result is in agreement with recent measurements from hadro- and photo-production experiments.

Search for the K_S -> e+e- decay with the KLOE detector

We present the result of a direct search for the decay K_S -> e+e-, obtained with a sample of e+e- -> phi -> K_S K_L events produced at DAFNE, the Frascati phi-factory, for an integrated luminosity of 1.9 fb^-1. The search has been performed using a pure K_S beam tagged by the simultaneous detection of a K_L interaction in the calorimeter. Background rejection has been optimized by using both kinematic and particle identification cuts. We find BR(K_S -> e+e-) < 9x10^-9 at 90% CL, which improves by an order of magnitude on the previous best limit.

Study of the a_0(980) meson via the radiative decay phi->eta pi^0 gamma with the KLOE detector

We have studied the phi->a_0(980) gamma process with the KLOE detector at the Frascati phi-factory DAPhNE by detecting the phi->eta pi^0 gamma decays in the final states with eta->gamma gamma and eta->pi^+ pi^- pi^0. We have measured the branching ratios for both final states: Br(phi->eta pi^0 gamma)=(7.01 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.20)x10^-5 and (7.12 +/- 0.13 +/- 0.22)x10^-5 respectively. We have also extracted the a_0(980) mass and its couplings to eta pi^0, K^+ K^-, and to the phi meson from the fit of the eta pi^0 invariant mass distributions using different phenomenological models.
