Optimal Decay Estimates for the Radially Symmetric Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations

We examine the large-time behaviour of solutions to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations under the assumption of radial symmetry. In particular, we calculate a fast time-decay estimate of the norm of the nonlinear part of the solution. This allows us to obtain a bound from below for the time-decay of the solution in $L^\infty$, proving that our decay estimate in that space is sharp. The decay rate is the same as that of the linear problem for curl-free flow. We also obtain an estimate for a scalar system related to curl-free solutions to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in a weighted Lebesgue space.

Energy conservation law for weak solutions of the full compressible Navier-Stokes equations

We consider a sufficient condition for the energy conservation law of a weak solution for the full compressible Navier-Stokes equations on the torus. We prove that a weak solution constructed by Feireisl with certain integrability conditions conserve the energy. Our assumption relaxes the regularity condition for the density compared with existing results.

Sobolev spaces on arbitrary domains and semigroups generated by fractional Laplacian

We describe a procedure to introduce Sobolev spaces and the semigroup generated by the fractional Dirichlet Laplacian on an arbitrary domain of $\R^d$. In particular, the well-definedness of the spaces of both non-homogeneous and homogeneous type together with their duality properties, embeddings, and Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequalities will be discussed. We also show the continuity and the smoothing property of the semigroup.

Analyticity and large time behavior for the Burgers equation with the critical dissipation

This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem of the Burgers equation with the critical dissipation. The well-posedness and analyticity in both of the space and the time variables are studied based on the frequency decomposition method. The large time behavior is revealed for any large initial data. As a result, it is shown that any smooth and integrable solution is analytic in space and time as long as time is positive and behaves like the Poisson kernel as time tends to infinity. The corresponding results are also obtined for the quasi-geostrophic equation.

Besov spaces on open sets

This paper is devoted to giving definitions of Besov spaces on an arbitrary open set of $\mathbb R^n$ via the spectral theorem for the Schrödinger operator with the Dirichlet boundary condition. The crucial point is to introduce some test function spaces on $Ω$. The fundamental properties of Besov spaces are also shown, such as embedding relations and duality, etc. Furthermore, the isomorphism relations are established among the Besov spaces in which regularity of functions is measured by the Dirichlet Laplacian and the Schrödinger operators.

Existence of mild solutions for the Hamilton-Jacobi equation with critical fractional viscosity in the Besov spaces

We consider the Cauchy problem for the Hamilton-Jacobi equation with critical dissipation, $$ \partial_t u + (-Δ)^{ 1/2} u = |\nabla u|^p, \quad x \in \mathbb R^N, t > 0, \qquad u(x,0) = u_0(x) , \quad x \in \mathbb R^N, $$ where $p > 1$ and $u_0 \in B^1_{r,1}(\mathbb R^N) \cap B^1_{\infty,1} (\mathbb R^N)$ with $r \in [1,\infty]$. We show that for sufficiently small $u_0 \in \dot B^1_{\infty,1}(\mathbb R^N)$, there exists a global-in-time mild solution. Furthermore, we prove that the solution behaves asymptotically like suitable multiplies of the Poisson kernel.
