The $O(α_s^2)$ Heavy Quark Corrections to Charged Current Deep-Inelastic Scattering at large Virtualities

We calculate the $O(α_s^2)$ heavy flavor corrections to charged current deep-inelastic scattering at large scales $Q^2 \gg m^2$. The contributing Wilson coefficient are given as convolutions between massive operator matrix elements and massless Wilson coefficients. Foregoing results in the literature are extended and corrected. Numerical results are presented for the kinematic region of the HERA data.

Phenomenology of QCD threshold resummation for gluino pair production at NNLL

We examine the impact of threshold resummation for the inclusive hadronic production cross section of gluino pairs at next-to-next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy, compared to the exact next-to-leading-order cross section and the next-to-next-to-leading-order approximation. Here, we apply formulas derived recently in the classical Mellin-space formalism. Moreover, we give the analytic input for the alternative momentum-space formalism and discuss the crucial points of the numeric implementation. We find that soft resummation keeps the hadronic cross section close to the fixed next-to-leading-order result.

QCD threshold corrections for gluino pair production at hadron colliders

We present the complete threshold enhanced predictions in QCD for the total cross section of gluino pair production at hadron colliders at next-to-next-to-leading order. Thanks to the computation of the required one-loop hard matching coefficients our results are accurate to the next-to-next-to-leading logarithm. In a brief phenomenological study we provide predictions for the total hadronic cross sections at the LHC and we discuss the uncertainties arising from scale variations and the parton distribution functions.

Randall-Sundrum Corrections to the Width Difference and CP-Violating Phase in $B^0_s$-Meson Decays

We study the impact of the Randall-Sundrum setup on the width difference $ΔΓ_s$ and the CP-violating phase $ϕ_s$ in the $\bar B_s^0$-$B_s^0$ system. Our calculations are performed in the general framework of an effective theory, based on operator product expansion. The result can thus be used for many new physics models. We find that the correction to the magnitude of the decay amplitude $Γ_{12}$ is below 4% for a realistic choice of input parameters. The main modification in the $ΔΓ_s/β_s$-plane is caused by a new CP-violating phase in the mixing amplitude, which allows for a better agreement with the experimental results of CDF and DØfrom $B_s^0\rightarrow J/ψϕ\,$ decays. The best-fit value of the CP asymmetry $S_{ψϕ}$ can be reproduced, while simultaneously the theoretical prediction for the semileptonic CP asymmetry $A_{\rm SL}^s$ can enter the $1σ$ range.

The Custodial Randall-Sundrum Model: From Precision Tests to Higgs Physics

We reexamine the Randall-Sundrum (RS) model with enlarged gauge symmetry SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R x U(1)_X x P_LR in the presence of a brane-localized Higgs sector. In contrast to the existing literature, we perform the Kaluza-Klein (KK) decomposition within the mass basis, which avoids the truncation of the KK towers. Expanding the low-energy spectrum as well as the gauge couplings in powers of the Higgs vacuum expectation value, we obtain analytic formulas which allow for a deep understanding of the model-specific protection mechanisms of the T parameter and the left-handed Z-boson couplings. In particular, in the latter case we explain which contributions escape protection and identify them with the irreducible sources of P_LR symmetry breaking. We furthermore show explicitly that no protection mechanism is present in the charged-current sector confirming existing model-independent findings. The main focus of the phenomenological part of our work is a detailed discussion of Higgs-boson couplings and their impact on physics at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. For the first time, a complete one-loop calculation of all relevant Higgs-boson production and decay channels is presented, incorporating the effects stemming from the extended electroweak gauge-boson and fermion sectors.

Top-Quark Forward-Backward Asymmetry in Randall-Sundrum Models Beyond the Leading Order

We calculate the ttbar forward-backward asymmetry, A_FB^t, in Randall-Sundrum (RS) models taking into account the dominant next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections in QCD. At Born level we include the exchange of Kaluza-Klein (KK) gluons and photons, the Z boson and its KK excitations, as well as the Higgs boson, whereas beyond the leading order (LO) we consider the interference of tree-level KK-gluon exchange with one-loop QCD box diagrams and the corresponding bremsstrahlungs corrections. We find that the strong suppression of LO effects, that arises due to the elementary nature and the mostly vector-like couplings of light quarks, is lifted at NLO after paying the price of an additional factor of alpha_s/(4 pi). In spite of this enhancement, the resulting RS corrections in A_FB^t remain marginal, leaving the predicted asymmetry SM-like. As our arguments are solely based on the smallness of the axial-vector couplings of light quarks to the strong sector, our findings are model-independent and apply to many scenarios of new physics that address the flavor problem via geometrical sequestering.
