Retrieval of non-sparse object through scattering media beyond the memory effect

Optical imaging through scattering media is a commonly confronted with the problem of reconstruction of complex objects and optical memory effect. To solve the problem, here, we propose a novel configuration based on the combination of ptychography and shower-curtain effect, which enables the retrieval of non-sparse samples through scattering media beyond the memory effect. Furthermore, by virtue of the shower-curtain effect, the proposed imaging system is insensitive to dynamic scattering media. Results from the retrieval of hair follicle section demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method. The field of view is improved to 2.64mm. This present technique will be a potential approach for imaging through deep biological tissue.

Adaptive Delay-Tolerant Distributed Space-Time Coding Based on Adjustable Code Matrices for Cooperative MIMO Relaying Systems

An adaptive delay-tolerant distributed space-time coding (DSTC) scheme that exploits feedback is proposed for two-hop cooperative MIMO networks. Maximum likelihood (ML) receivers and adjustable code matrices are considered subject to a power constraint with a decode-and-forward (DF) cooperation strategy. In the proposed delay-tolerant DSTC scheme, an adjustable code matrix is employed to transform the space-time coded matrix at the relay nodes. Least-squares (LS) algorithms are developed with reduced computational complexity to adjust the parameters of the codes. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms obtain significant performance gains and address the delay issue for cooperative MIMO systems as compared to existing delay-tolerant DSTC schemes.

Minimum BER Power Adjustment and Receiver Design for Distributed Space-Time Coded Cooperative MIMO Relaying Systems

An adaptive joint power allocation (JPA) and linear receiver design algorithm using the minimum bit error rate (MBER) criterion for a cooperative Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) network is proposed. The system employs multiple relays with Distributed Space-Time Coding (DSTC) schemes and an Amplify-and-Forward (AF) strategy. It is designed according to a joint constrained optimization algorithm to determine the MBER power allocation parameters and the receive filter parameters for each transmitted symbol. The simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm obtains performance gains compared to the equal power allocation systems and the minimum mean square error (MMSE) designs.
