Asymptotically efficient estimation for diffusion processes with nonsynchronous observations

We study maximum-likelihood-type estimation for diffusion processes when the coefficients are nonrandom and observation occurs in nonsynchronous manner. The problem of nonsynchronous observations is important when we consider the analysis of high-frequency data in a financial market. Constructing a quasi-likelihood function to define the estimator, we adaptively estimate the parameter for the diffusion part and the drift part. We consider the asymptotic theory when the terminal time point $T_n$ and the observation frequency goes to infinity, and show the consistency and the asymptotic normality of the estimator. Moreover, we show local asymptotic normality for the statistical model, and asymptotic efficiency of the estimator as a consequence. To show the asymptotic properties of the maximum-likelihood-type estimator, we need to control the asymptotic behaviors of some functionals of the sampling scheme. Though it is difficult to directly control those in general, we study tractable sufficient conditions when the sampling scheme is generated by mixing processes.

Local asymptotic mixed normality property for nonsynchronously observed diffusion processes

We prove the local asymptotic mixed normality (LAMN) property for a family of probability measures defined by parametrized diffusion processes with nonsynchronous observations. We assume that observation times of processes are independent of processes and we will study asymptotics when the maximum length of observation intervals goes to zero in probability. We also prove that the quasi-maximum likelihood estimator and the Bayes-type estimator proposed in Ogihara and Yoshida (Stochastic Process. Appl. 124 (2014) 2954-3008) are asymptotically efficient.

Parametric Inference for Nonsynchronously Observed Diffusion Processes in the Presence of Market Microstructure Noise

We study parametric inference for diffusion processes when observations occur nonsynchronously and are contaminated by market microstructure noise. We construct a quasi-likelihood function and study asymptotic mixed normality of maximum-likelihood- and Bayes-type estimators based on it. We also prove the local asymptotic normality of the model and asymptotic efficiency of our estimator when the diffusion coefficients are constant and noise follows a normal distribution. We conjecture that our estimator is asymptotically efficient even when the latent process is a general diffusion process. An estimator for the quadratic covariation of the latent process is also constructed. Some numerical examples show that this estimator performs better compared to existing estimators of the quadratic covariation.

Quasi likelihood analysis of point processes for ultra high frequency data

We introduce a point process regression model that is applicable to price models and limit order book models. Hawkes type autoregression in the intensity process is generalized to a stochastic regression to covariate processes. We establish the so-called quasi likelihood analysis, which gives a polynomial type large deviation estimate for the statistical random field. We derive large sample properties of the maximum likelihood type estimator and the Bayesian type estimator when the intensity processes become large under a finite time horizon. There appears non-ergodic statistics. A classical approach is also mentioned.

On Asymptotic Properties of Bayes Type Estimators with General Loss Functions

We study asymptotic behaviors of Bayes type estimators and give sufficient conditions to obtain asymptotic limit distribution of estimation error. We assume polynomial type large deviation inequalities and prove asymptotic equivalence of estimation error of Bayes type estimator and that of M-estimator by the virtue of Ibragimov-Has'minskii's theory. The results can be applied to several statistical models of diffusion processes and jump diffusion processes. In this paper, we focus on application to a statistical model of an ergodic diffusion process and give asymptotic normality and convergence of moments of the Bayes type estimator with a general loss function.

Quasi-Likelihood Analysis for Stochastic Regression Models with Nonsynchronous Observations

We consider nonsynchronous sampling of parameterized stochastic regression models, which contain stochastic differential equations. Constructing a quasi-likelihood function, we prove that the quasi-maximum likelihood estimator and the Bayes type estimator are consistent and asymptotically mixed normal when the sampling frequency of the nonsynchronous data becomes large.
