Instability of group formation through indirect reciprocity under imperfect information and implementation error

Indirect reciprocity is a key mechanism behind the evolution of cooperation. Oishi et al. analytically showed the formation of two exclusive groups under the KANDORI assessment rule in the case of perfect information and no implementation error, regardless of the population size $N$. Here, we numerically show the formation of many exclusive groups under the JUDGING assessment rule in the same case. Introducing degrees of exclusive groups, we numerically examine the stability of the group formation under imperfect information and implementation error.

Absence of a classical long-range order in $S=1/2$ Heisenberg antiferromagnet on triangular lattice

We study the quantum phase transition of an $S=1/2$ anisotropic $α$ $(\equiv J_z/J_{xy})$ Heisenberg antiferromagnet on a triangular lattice. We calculate the sublattice magnetization and the long-range helical order-parameter and their Binder ratios on finite systems with $N \leq 36$ sites. The $N$ dependence of the Binder ratios reveals that the classical 120$^{\circ}$ Néel state occurs for $α\lesssim 0.55$, whereas a critical collinear state occurs for $1/α\lesssim 0.6$. This result is at odds with a widely-held belief that the ground state of a Heisenberg antiferromagnet is the 120$^{\circ}$ Néel state, but it also provides a possible mechanism explaining experimentally observed spin liquids.

Window measurements of simulations in random systems

Numerical studies in random systems are plagued with strong finite-size effects and boundary effects. We introduce a window-measurement method as a practical solution to these difficulties. We observe physical quantities only within a subsystem located in the midst of a whole system and scale them with the correlation length estimated in the subsystem. Both equilibrium data and nonequilibrium data with different system sizes and different window sizes fall onto a single scaling function. It suggests that the correction-to-scaling terms become very small. We confirm the validity in the $\pm J$ Heisenberg spin glass model in three dimensions. The spin-glass and chiral-glass transition temperatures are estimated to be very close to each other.
