Engineering sub-Poisson light in a simple mirror and beam splitter system

Vacuum fluctuation, which is the intrinsic nature of an electric field can be measured via homodyne detection. Moreover, electric field intensity fluctuation are also related to vacuum fluctuations. Squeezed vacuum and sub-Poisson light can be obtained by controlling the vacuum fluctuation using noble nonlinear interaction. Based on the squeezed vacuum by inserting a mirror on the unused part of the beam splitter was proposed in 1994, we present the mode matching method for the vacuum and light fields. Light intensity fluctuations also can be reduced by inserting a mirror on the unused part of the beam splitter. To obtain sub-Poisson light as a function of the distance between the mirror and detector, a detector with a thinner active layer than the wavelength is required.

Hong-Ou-Mandel interference depends on the method of the erasing the beam path information

We study how the information of the beam path is related to the Hong-Ou-Mandel interference with two pulsed light sources. Through a simple model in which two photons in the form of pulses pass a beamsplitter and are observed at two detectors, we investigate how, during the measurement process, information about the paths of the two photons can be erased. There are two ways to clear the information of the beam path, the first being that from the beginning, during the physical measurement process, the time information is not obtained. The other is after measuring the information, to erase the temporal information in the data analyzing process. We show that Hong-Ou-Mandel interference can be obtained only when the beam path inofrmation is cleared from the physical measurement process.

Conditional Generation Scheme for Entangled Vacuum Evacuated Coherent States by Mixing Two Coherent Beams with a Squeezed Vacuum State

Conditions to generate high-purity entangled vacuum-evacuated coherent states ($|0>|α>^0 - |-α>^0 |0>$ were studied for two cascade-placed beam splitters, with one squeezed state input and two coherent state inputs whenever a single photon is detected. Controlling the amplitudes and the phases of the beams allows for various amplitudes of the vacuum-evacuated coherent states ($|α>^ 0 = |α> -e^{-|α|^2} |0> $) up to $α= 2.160$ to be manipulated with high-purity.

Double pendulum model for tennis stroke including a collision process

By means of adding a collision process between the ball and racket in double pendulum model, we analyzed the tennis stroke. It is possible that the speed of the rebound ball does not simply depend on the angular velocity of the racket, and higher angular velocity sometimes gives lower ball speed. We numerically showed that the proper time lagged racket rotation increases the speed of the rebound ball by 20%. We also showed that the elbow should move in order to add the angular velocity of the racket.

Conditional Generation Scheme for a High-fidelity Yurke-Stoler States by Mixing Two Coherent Beams with Squeezed Vacuum State

The numerical conditions to generate a high-fidelity Yurke-Stoler states ($|α>+ e^{i ψ} |-α>$)were found for two cascade-placed beam splitters with one squeezed state input and two coherent state inputs. Controlling the amplitude and the phases of beams, allows for various Yurke-Stoler states to be manipulated with ultra high-fidelity, and the expected theoretical fidelity is of more than 0.9999.

A balanced homodyne detector for high-rate Gaussian-modulated coherent-state quantum key distribution

We discuss excess noise contributions of a practical balanced homodyne detector in Gaussian-modulated coherent-state (GMCS) quantum key distribution (QKD). We point out the key generated from the original realistic model of GMCS QKD may not be secure. In our refined realistic model, we take into account excess noise due to the finite bandwidth of the homodyne detector and the fluctuation of the local oscillator. A high speed balanced homodyne detector suitable for GMCS QKD in the telecommunication wavelength region is built and experimentally tested. The 3dB bandwidth of the balanced homodyne detector is found to be 104MHz and its electronic noise level is 13dB below the shot noise at a local oscillator level of 8.5*10^8 photon per pulse. The secure key rate of a GMCS QKD experiment with this homodyne detector is expected to reach Mbits/s over a few kilometers.
