Astronomy with energy dependent flavour ratios of extragalactic neutrinos

High energy astrophysical neutrinos interacting with ultralight dark matter (DM) can undergo flavour oscillations that induce an energy dependence in the flavour ratios. Such a dependence on the neutrino energy will reflect in the track to shower ratio in neutrino telescopes like IceCube or KM3NeT. This opens up a possibility to study DM density profiles of astrophysical objects like AGN, GRB etc., which are the suspected sources of such neutrinos.

Strong constraints on non-standard neutrino interactions: LHC vs. IceCube

We find the constraints on various non-standard interactions (NSI) of neutrinos from monojet+MET searches at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Also, we show that the measurement of neutrino-nucleon cross-section from the observation of high energy astrophysical neutrino events at IceCube facilitates strong constraints on NSI as well. To this end, we pursue a comparative study of the prospects of LHC and IceCube in detecting NSI, also mentioning the role of low-energy experiments. We discuss the case of NSI with a new vector boson $Z'$ and it is found that for some range of $m_{Z'}$ LHC puts more stringent bound, whereas IceCube supersedes elsewhere. We also pay special attention to the case of $Z'$ of mass of a few GeVs, pointing out that the IceCube constraints can surpass those from LHC and low-energy experiments. Although, for contact-type effective interactions with two neutrinos and two partons, constraints from LHC are superior.

Exploring the extended scalar sector with resonances in vector boson scattering

We show that the study of scalar resonances at various vector boson scattering processes at the Large Hadron Collider can serve as a useful tool to distinguish between different extensions of the scalar sector of the Standard Model. The recent measurement of the Higgs boson properties leaves enough room for the extended scalar sectors to be relevant for such studies. The shape of the resonances, being model dependent, can shed light on the viable parameter space of a number of theoretical models.

Dark matter candidate in an extended type III seesaw scenario

The type III seesaw mechanism for neutrino mass generation usually makes use of at least two $Y = 0$, $SU(2)_L$ lepton triplets. We augment such a model with a third triplet and a sterile neutrino, both of which are odd under a conserved $\Z_2$ symmetry. With all new physics confined to the $\Z_2$-odd sector, whose low energy manifestation is in some higher-dimensional operators, a fermionic dark matter candidate is found to emerge. We identify the region of the parameter space of the scenario, which is consistent with all constraints from relic density and direct searches, and allows a wide range of masses for the dark matter candidate.

Obstacles to extending R-parity violation to Supersymmetric SU(5)

We explore the consequences of promoting bilinear R-parity violation, usually formulated in the minimal supersymmetric standard model framework, to a supersymmetric SU(5) grand unified theory. We observe that the limits on proton decay and neutrino mass place tight constraints on the bilinear SU(5) R-parity violating parameters creating a different doublet-triplet issue which cannot be resolved by an extension of the usual fine-tuning in the symmetry breaking scalar sector. If the parameters are made to satisfy the constraints, albeit unnaturally, there remains no room for the possibility to correct the SU(5) fermion mass ratios by introducing R-parity violation.

A Possible Explanation of Low Energy $γ$-ray Excess from Galactic Centre and Fermi Bubble by a Dark Matter Model with Two Real Scalars

We promote the idea of multi-component Dark Matter (DM) to explain results from both direct and indirect detection experiments. In these models as contribution of each DM candidate to relic abundance is summed up to meet WMAP/Planck measurements of $Ω_{\rm DM}$, these candidates have larger annihilation cross-sections compared to the single-component DM models. This results in larger $γ$-ray flux in indirect detection experiments of DM. We illustrate this fact by introducing an extra scalar to the popular single real scalar DM model. We also present detailed calculations for the vacuum stability bounds, perturbative unitarity and triviality constraints on this model. As direct detection experimental results still show some conflict, we kept our options open, discussing different scenarios with different DM mass zones. In the framework of our model we make an interesting observation: The existing direct detection experiments like CDMS II, CoGeNT, CRESST II, XENON 100 or LUX together with the observation of excess low energy $γ$-ray from Galactic Centre and Fermi Bubble by FGST already have the capability to distinguish between different DM halo profiles.

A study of electroweak vacuum metastability with a singlet scalar dark matter

We study several aspects of electroweak vacuum metastability when an extra gauge singlet scalar, a viable candidate for a dark matter particle, is added to the standard model of particle physics, which is assumed to be valid up to the Planck scale. Phase diagrams are drawn for different parameter spaces, and based on that, we graphically demonstrate how the confidence level, at which stability of electroweak vacuum is excluded, depends on such new physics parameters.

Muon anomalous magnetic moment confronts exotic fermions and gauge bosons

We investigate the status of models containing exotic fermions or extra Z-like neutral gauge bosons in the light of the recent data on anomalous magnetic moment of muon. We find that it is possible to extract interesting bounds on the parameters characterizing such models. The bounds are particularly strong if the new flavour-changing neutral currents are axial vectorlike.

R-parity-violating trilinear couplings and recent neutrino data

The nontrivial structure of the neutrino mass matrix, suggested by the recent Super-Kamiokande results and data from other neutrino experiments, can be reproduced in R-parity-violating supersymmetric theories. This requires sets of products of R-parity-violating trilinear couplings to take appropriately chosen values. It is shown that the existing constraints on these couplings are satisfied by these choices.
