Deformed Quantum Phase Spaces, Realizations, Star Products and Twists

We review deformed quantum phase spaces and their realizations in terms of undeformed phase space. In particular, methods of calculation for the star product, coproduct of momenta and twist from realizations are presented, as well as their properties and the relations between them. Lie deformed quantum phase spaces and Snyder type spaces are considered. Examples of linear realizations of the $κ$-Minkowski spacetime are elaborated. Finally, some new results on quadratic deformations of quantum phase spaces and a generalization of Yang and triply special relativity models are presented.

Generalized Heisenberg algebra, realizations of the $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ algebra and applications

We introduce the generalized Heisenberg algebra appropriate for realizations of the $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ algebra. Linear realizations of the $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ algebra are presented and the corresponding star product, coproduct of momenta and twist are constructed. The dual realization and dual $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ algebra are considered. Finally, we present a general realization of the $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ algebra, the corresponding coproduct of momenta and two classes of twists. These results can be applied to physical theories on noncommutative spaces of the $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ type.

Generalized Heisenberg algebra applied to realizations of the orthogonal, Lorentz and Poincare algebras and their dual extensions

We introduce the generalized Heisenberg algebra $\mathcal{H}_n$ and construct realizations of the orthogonal and Lorentz algebras by power series in a semicompletion of $\mathcal{H}_n$. The obtained realizations are given in terms of the generating functions for the Bernoulli numbers. We also introduce an extension of the orthogonal and Lorentz algebras by quantum angles and study realizations of the extended algebras in $\mathcal{H}_n$. Furthermore, we show that by extending the generalized Heisenberg algebra $\mathcal{H}_n$ one can also obtain realizations of the Poincare algebra and its extension by quantum angles.

Interpolations between Jordanian twists, the Poincaré-Weyl algebra and dispersion relations

We consider a two parameter family of Drinfeld twists generated from a simple Jordanian twist further twisted by 1-cochains. Twists from this family interpolate between two simple Jordanian twists. Relations between them are constructed and discussed. It is proved that there exists a one parameter family of twists identical to a simple Jordanian twist. The twisted coalgebra, star product and coordinate realizations of the $κ$-Minkowski noncommutative space time are presented. Real forms of Jordanian deformations are also discussed. The method of similarity transformations is applied to the Poincaré-Weyl Hopf algebra and two types of one parameter families of dispersion relations are constructed. Mathematically equivalent deformations, that are related to nonlinear changes of symmetry generators and linked with similarity maps, may lead to differences in the description of physical phenomena.

Central tetrads and quantum spacetimes

In this paper, we perform a parallel analysis to the model proposed in [25]. By considering the central co-tetrad (instead of the central metric), we investigate the modifications in the gravitational metrics coming from the noncommutative spacetime of the $κ$-Minkowski type in four dimensions. The differential calculus corresponding to a class of Jordanian $κ$-deformations provides metrics, which lead either to cosmological constant or spatial curvature type solutions of non-vacuum Einstein equations. Among vacuum solutions, we find pp-wave type.

Lie algebra type noncommutative phase spaces are Hopf algebroids

For a noncommutative configuration space whose coordinate algebra is the universal enveloping algebra of a finite dimensional Lie algebra, it is known how to introduce an extension playing the role of the corresponding noncommutative phase space, namely by adding the commuting deformed derivatives in a consistent and nontrivial way, therefore obtaining certain deformed Heisenberg algebra. This algebra has been studied in physical contexts, mainly in the case of the kappa-Minkowski space-time. Here we equip the entire phase space algebra with a coproduct, so that it becomes an instance of a completed variant of a Hopf algebroid over a noncommutative base, where the base is the enveloping algebra.

The Weyl realizations of Lie algebras and left-right duality

We investigate dual realizations of non--commutative spaces of Lie algebra type in terms of formal power series in the Weyl algebra. To each realization of a Lie algebra $\g$ we associate a star--product on the symmetric algebra $S(\g)$ and an ordering on the enveloping algebra $U(\g)$. Dual realizations of $\g$ are defined in terms of left--right duality of the star--products on $S(\g)$. It is shown that the dual realizations are related to an extension problem for $\g$ by shift operators whose action on $U(\g)$ describes left and right shift of the generators of $U(\g)$ in a given monomial. Using properties of the extended algebra, in the Weyl symmetric ordering we derive closed form expressions for the dual realizations of $\g$ in terms of two generating functions for the Bernoulli numbers. The theory is illustrated by considering the $κ$--deformed space.

Light-like $κ$-deformations and scalar field theory via Drinfeld twist

In this article we will use the Drinfeld twist leading to light-like $κ$-deformations of Poincaré algebra. We shall apply the standard Hopf algebra methods in order to define the star-product, which shall be used to formulate a scalar field theory compatible with $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebra. Using this approach we show that there is no problem with formulating integration on $κ$-Minkowski space and no need for introducing a new measure. We have shown that the $\star$-product obtained from this twist enables us to define a free scalar field theory on $κ$-Minkowski space that is equivalent to a commutative one on a usual Minkowski space. We also discuss the interacting $ϕ^4$ scalar field model compatible with $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebra.

Noncommutative scalar quasinormal modes and quantization of entropy of a BTZ black hole

We obtain an exact analytic expression for the quasinormal modes of a noncommutative massless scalar field in the background of a massive spinless BTZ black hole up to the first order in the deformation parameter. We also show that the equations of motion governing these quasinormal modes are identical in form to the equations of motion of a commutative massive scalar field in the background of a fictitious massive spinning BTZ black hole. This results hints at a duality between the commutative and noncommutative systems in the background of a BTZ black hole. Using the obtained results for quasinormal mode frequencies, the area and entropy spectra for the BTZ black hole in the presence of noncommutativity are calculated. In particular, the separations between the neighboring values of these spectra are determined and it is found that they are nonuniform. Therefore, it appears that the noncommutativity leads to a non-equispaced (discrete) area and entropy spectra.

Realizations of $κ$-Minkowski space, Drinfeld twists and related symmetry algebras

Realizations of $κ$-Minkowski space linear in momenta are studied for time-, space- and light-like deformations. We construct and classify all such linear realizations and express them in terms of $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ generators. There are three one-parameter families of linear realizations for time-like and space-like deformations, while for light-like deformations, there are only four linear realizations. The relation between deformed Heisenberg algebra, star product, coproduct of momenta and twist operator is presented. It is proved that for each linear realization there exists Drinfeld twist satisfying normalization and cocycle conditions. $κ$-deformed $\mathfrak{igl}(n)$-Hopf algebras are presented for all cases. The $κ$-Poincaré-Weyl and $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebras are discussed. Left-right dual $κ$-Minkowski algebra is constructed from the transposed twists. The corresponding realizations are nonlinear. All known Drinfeld twists related to $κ$-Minkowski space are obtained from our construction. Finally, some physical applications are discussed.

Toward the classification of differential calculi on $κ$-Minkowski space and related field theories

Classification of differential forms on $κ$-Minkowski space, particularly, the classification of all bicovariant differential calculi of classical dimension is presented. By imposing super-Jacobi identities we derive all possible differential algebras compatible with the $κ$-Minkowski algebra for time-like, space-like and light-like deformations. Embedding into the super-Heisenberg algebra is constructed using non-commutative (NC) coordinates and one-forms. Particularly, a class of differential calculi with an undeformed exterior derivative and one-forms is considered. Corresponding NC differential calculi are elaborated. Related class of new Drinfeld twists is proposed. It contains twist leading to $κ$-Poincaré Hopf algebra for light-like deformation. Corresponding super-algebra and deformed super-Hopf algebras, as well as the symmetries of differential algebras are presented and elaborated. Using the NC differential calculus, we analyze NC field theory, modified dispersion relations, and discuss further physical applications.

Twist deformations leading to kappa-Poincare Hopf algebra and their application to physics

We consider two twist operators that lead to kappa-Poincare Hopf algebra, the first being an Abelian one and the second corresponding to a light-like kappa-deformation of Poincare algebra. The advantage of the second one is that it is expressed solely in terms of Poincare generators. In contrast to this, the Abelian twist goes out of the boundaries of Poincare algebra and runs into envelope of the general linear algebra. Some of the physical applications of these two different twist operators are considered. In particular, we use the Abelian twist to construct the statistics flip operator compatible with the action of deformed symmetry group. Furthermore, we use the light-like twist operator to define a star product and subsequently to formulate a free scalar field theory compatible with kappa-Poincare Hopf algebra and appropriate for considering the interacting phi^4 scalar field model on kappa-deformed space.

Twisted conformal algebra related to $κ$-Minkowski space

Twisted deformations of the conformal symmetry in the Hopf algebraic framework are constructed. The first one is obtained by a Jordanian twist built up from dilatation and momenta generators. The second is the light-like $κ$-deformation of the Poincare algebra extended to the conformal algebra, obtained by a twist corresponding to the extended Jordanian r-matrix. The $κ$-Minkowski spacetime is covariant quantum space under both of these deformations. The extension of the conformal algebra by the noncommutative coordinates is presented in two cases. The differential realizations for $κ$-Minkowski coordinates, as well as their left-right dual counterparts, are also included.

$κ$-Deformed Phase Space, Hopf Algebroid and Twisting

Hopf algebroid structures on the Weyl algebra (phase space) are presented. We define the coproduct for the Weyl generators from Leibniz rule. The codomain of the coproduct is modified in order to obtain an algebra structure. We use the dual base to construct the target map and antipode. The notion of twist is analyzed for $κ$-deformed phase space in Hopf algebroid setting. It is outlined how the twist in the Hopf algebroid setting reproduces the full Hopf algebra structure of $κ$-Poincaré algebra. Several examples of realizations are worked out in details.

Effects of Noncommutativity on the Black Hole Entropy

In this paper the BTZ black hole geometry is probed with a noncommutative scalar field which obeys the $κ$-Minkowski algebra. The entropy of the BTZ black hole is calculated using the brick wall method. The contribution of the noncommutativity to the black hole entropy is explicitly evaluated up to the first order in the deformation parameter. We also argue that such a correction to the black hole entropy can be interpreted as arising from the renormalization of the Newton's constant due to the effects of the noncommutativity.

Twists, realizations and Hopf algebroid structure of kappa-deformed phase space

The quantum phase space described by Heisenberg algebra possesses undeformed Hopf algebroid structure. The $κ$-deformed phase space with noncommutative coordinates is realized in terms of undeformed quantum phase space. There are infinitely many such realizations related by similarity transformations. For a given realization we construct corresponding coproducts of commutative coordinates and momenta (bialgebroid structure). The $κ$-deformed phase space has twisted Hopf algebroid structure. General method for the construction of twist operator (satisfying cocycle and normalization condition) corresponding to deformed coalgebra structure is presented. Specially, twist for natural realization (classical basis) of $κ$-Minkowski spacetime is presented. The cocycle condition, $κ$-Poincaré algebra and $R$-matrix are discussed. Twist operators in arbitrary realizations are constructed from the twist in the given realization using similarity transformations. Some examples are presented. The important physical applications of twists, realizations, $R$-matrix and Hopf algebroid structure are discussed.

Universal $κ$-Poincaré covariant differential calculus over $κ$-Minkowski space

Unified graded differential algebra, generated by $κ$-Minkowski noncommutative (NC) coordinates, Lorentz generators and anticommuting one-forms, is constructed. It is compatible with $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebra. For time- and space-like deformations, the super-Jacobi identities are not satisfied. By introducing additional generator, interpreted as exterior derivative, we find a new unique algebra that satisfies all super-Jacobi identities. It is universal and valid for all type of deformations (time-, space-, and light-like). For time-like deformations this algebra coincides with the one in \cite{sitarz}. Different realizations of our algebra in terms of super-Heisenberg algebra are presented. For light-like deformations we get 4D bicovariant calculus, with $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebra and present the corresponding twist, which is written in a new covariant way, using Poincaré generators only. In the time- and space-like case this twist leads to $κ$-Snyder space. Our results might lead to applications in NC quantum field theories (especially electrodynamics and gauge theories), quantum gravity models, and Planck scale physics.

Different realizations of kappa-momentum space and relative-locality effect

We consider different realizations for the momentum sector of kappa-Poincare Hopf algebra, which is associated with a curved momentum space. We show that the notion of the particle mass as introduced recently by Amelino-Camelia et al. in the context of relative-locality is realization independent for a wide class of realizations, up to linear order in deformation parameter l. On the other hand, the time delay formula clearly shows a dependence on the choice of realization.

Differential forms and k-Minkowski spacetime from extended twist

We analyze bicovariant differential calculus on $κ$-Minkowski spacetime. It is shown that corresponding Lorentz generators and noncommutative coordinates compatible with bicovariant calculus cannot be realized in terms of commutative coordinates and momenta. Furthermore, $κ$-Minkowski space and NC forms are constructed by twist related to a bicrossproduct basis. It is pointed out that the consistency condition is not satisfied. We present the construction of $κ$-deformed coordinates and forms (super-Heisenberg algebra) using extended twist. It is compatible with bicovariant differential calculus with $κ$-deformed $\mathfrak{igl}(4)$-Hopf algebra. The extended twist leading to $κ$-Poincaré-Hopf algebra is also discussed.

K-Poincare-Hopf algebra and Hopf algebroid structure of phase space from twist

We unify k-Poincare algebra and k-Minkowski spacetime by embeding them into quantum phase space. The quantum phase space has Hopf algebroid structure to which we apply the twist in order to get k- deformed Hopf algebroid structure and k-deformed phase space. We explicitly construct k-Poincare-Hopf algebra and k-Minkowski spacetime from twist. It is outlined how this construction can be extended to k-deformed super algebra including exterior derivative and forms. Our results are relevant for constructing physical theories on noncommutative spacetime by twisting Hopf algebroid phase space structure.

A General formulation of the Moyal and Voros products and its physical interpretation

A unifying perspective on the Moyal and Voros products and their physical meanings has been recently presented in the literature, where the Voros formulation admits a consistent physical interpretation. We define a star product $\star$, in terms of an antisymmetric fixed matrix $Θ$, and an arbitrary symmetric matrix $Φ$, that is a generalization of the Moyal and the Voros products. We discuss the quantum mechanics and the physical meaning of the generalized star product.

Differential algebras on kappa-Minkowski space and action of the Lorentz algebra

We propose two families of differential algebras of classical dimension on kappa-Minkowski space. The algebras are constructed using realizations of the generators as formal power series in a Weyl super-algebra. We also propose a novel realization of the Lorentz algebra so(1,n-1) in terms of Grassmann-type variables. Using this realization we construct an action of so(1,n-1) on the two families of algebras. Restriction of the action to kappa-Minkowski space is covariant. In contrast to the standard approach the action is not Lorentz covariant except on constant one-forms, but it does not require an extra cotangent direction.

Exponential Formulas and Lie Algebra Type Star Products

Given formal differential operators $F_i$ on polynomial algebra in several variables $x_1,...,x_n$, we discuss finding expressions $K_l$ determined by the equation $\exp(\sum_i x_i F_i)(\exp(\sum_j q_j x_j)) = \exp(\sum_l K_l x_l)$ and their applications. The expressions for $K_l$ are related to the coproducts for deformed momenta for the noncommutative space-times of Lie algebra type and also appear in the computations with a class of star products. We find combinatorial recursions and derive formal differential equations for finding $K_l$. We elaborate an example for a Lie algebra $su(2)$, related to a quantum gravity application from the literature.

Kappa-deformation of phase space; generalized Poincare algebras and R-matrix

We deform Heisenberg algebra and corresponding coalgebra by twist. We present undeformed and deformed tensor identities. Coalgebras for the generalized Poincaré algebras have been constructed. The exact universal $R$-matrix for the deformed Heisenberg (co)algebra is found. We show, up to the third order in the deformation parameter, that in the case of $κ$-Poincaré Hopf algebra this $R$-matrix can be expressed in terms of Poincaré generators only. This implies that the states of any number of identical particles can be defined in a $κ$-covariant way.

Kappa-Minkowski spacetime, Kappa-Poincaré Hopf algebra and realizations

We unify kappa-Minkowki spacetime and Lorentz algebra in unique Lie algebra. Introducing commutative momenta, a family of kappa-deformed Heisenberg algebras and kappa-deformed Poincare algebras are defined. They are specified by the matrix depending on momenta. We construct all such matrices. Realizations and star product are defined and analyzed in general and specially, their relation to coproduct of momenta is pointed out. Hopf algebra of the Poincare algebra, related to the covariant realization, is presented in unified covariant form. Left-right dual realizations and dual algebra are introduced and considered. The generalized involution and the star inner product are analyzed and their properties are discussed. Partial integration and deformed trace property are obtained in general. The translation invariance of the star product is pointed out. Finally, perturbative approach up to the first order in $a$ is presented in Appendix.

Quantum statistics and noncommutative black holes

We study the behaviour of a scalar field coupled to a noncommutative black hole which is described by a $κ$-cylinder Hopf algebra. We introduce a new class of realizations of this algebra which has a smooth limit as the deformation parameter vanishes. The twisted flip operator is independent of the choice of realization within this class. We demonstrate that the $R$-matrix is quasi-triangular up to the first order in the deformation parameter. Our results indicate how a scalar field might behave in the vicinity of a black hole at the Planck scale.

Differential structure on kappa-Minkowski space, and kappa-Poincare algebra

We construct realizations of the generators of the $κ$-Minkowski space and $κ$-Poincaré algebra as formal power series in the $h$-adic extension of the Weyl algebra. The Hopf algebra structure of the $κ$-Poincaré algebra related to different realizations is given. We construct realizations of the exterior derivative and one-forms, and define a differential calculus on $κ$-Minkowski space which is compatible with the action of the Lorentz algebra. In contrast to the conventional bicovariant calculus, the space of one-forms has the same dimension as the $κ$-Minkowski space.

Kappa Snyder deformations of Minkowski spacetime, realizations and Hopf algebra

We present Lie-algebraic deformations of Minkowski space with undeformed Poincaré algebra. These deformations interpolate between Snyder and $κ$-Minkowski space. We find realizations of noncommutative coordinates in terms of commutative coordinates and derivatives. By introducing modules, it is shown that although deformed and undeformed structures are not isomorphic at the level of vector spaces, they are however isomorphic at the level of Hopf algebraic action on corresponding modules. Invariants and tensors with respect to Lorentz algebra are discussed. A general mapping from $κ$-deformed Snyder to Snyder space is constructed. Deformed Leibniz rule, the Hopf structure and star product are found. Special cases, particularly Snyder and $κ$-Minkowski in Maggiore-type realizations are discussed. The same generalized Hopf algebraic structures are as well considered in the case of an arbitrary allowable kind of realisation and results are given perturbatively up to second order in deformation parameters.

Scalar field theory on kappa-Minkowski spacetime and translation and Lorentz invariance

We investigate the properties of kappa-Minkowski spacetime by using representations of the corresponding deformed algebra in terms of undeformed Heisenberg-Weyl algebra. The deformed algebra consists of kappa-Poincare algebra extended with the generators of the deformed Weyl algebra. The part of deformed algebra, generated by rotation, boost and momentum generators, is described by the Hopf algebra structure. The approach used in our considerations is completely Lorentz covariant. We further use an adventages of this approach to consistently construct a star product which has a property that under integration sign it can be replaced by a standard pointwise multiplication, a property that was since known to hold for Moyal, but not also for kappa-Minkowski spacetime. This star product also has generalized trace and cyclic properties and the construction alone is accomplished by considering a classical Dirac operator representation of deformed algebra and by requiring it to be hermitian. We find that the obtained star product is not translationally invariant, leading to a conclusion that the classical Dirac operator representation is the one where translation invariance cannot simultaneously be implemented along with hermiticity. However, due to the integral property satisfied by the star product, noncommutative free scalar field theory does not have a problem with translation symmetry breaking and can be shown to reduce to an ordinary free scalar field theory without nonlocal features and tachionic modes and basicaly of the very same form. The issue of Lorentz invariance of the theory is also discussed.

Scalar Field Theory on Non-commutative Snyder Space-Time

We construct a scalar field theory on the Snyder non-commutative space-time. The symmetry underlying the Snyder geometry is deformed at the co-algebraic level only, while its Poincaré algebra is undeformed. The Lorentz sector is undeformed at both algebraic and co-algebraic level, but the co-product for momenta (defining the star-product) is non-co-associative. The Snyder-deformed Poincaré group is described by a non-co-associative Hopf algebra. The definition of the interacting theory in terms of a non-associative star-product is thus questionable. We avoid the non-associativity by the use of a space-time picture based on the concept of realization of a non-commutative geometry. The two main results we obtain are: (i) the generic (namely for any realization) construction of the co-algebraic sector underlying the Snyder geometry and (ii) the definition of a non-ambiguous self interacting scalar field theory on this space-time. The first order correction terms of the corresponding Lagrangian are explicitly computed. The possibility to derive Noether charges for the Snyder space-time is also discussed.

Modification of Heisenberg uncertainty relations in non-commutative Snyder space-time geometry

We show that the Euclidean Snyder non-commutative space implies infinitely many different physical predictions. The distinct frameworks are specified by generalized uncertainty relations underlying deformed Heisenberg algebras. Considering the one-dimensional case in the minisuperspace arena, the bouncing Universe dynamics of loop quantum cosmology can be recovered.

Noncommutative Differential Forms on the kappa-deformed Space

We construct a differential algebra of forms on the kappa-deformed space. For a given realization of the noncommutative coordinates as formal power series in the Weyl algebra we find an infinite family of one-forms and nilpotent exterior derivatives. We derive explicit expressions for the exterior derivative and one-forms in covariant and noncovariant realizations. We also introduce higher-order forms and show that the exterior derivative satisfies the graded Leibniz rule. The differential forms are generally not graded-commutative, but they satisfy the graded Jacobi identity. We also consider the star-product of classical differential forms. The star-product is well-defined if the commutator between the noncommutative coordinates and one-forms is closed in the space of one-forms alone. In addition, we show that in certain realizations the exterior derivative acting on the star-product satisfies the undeformed Leibniz rule.

Leibniz rules for enveloping algebras in symmetric ordering

Given a finite-dimensional Lie algebra, and a representation by derivations on the completed symmetric algebra of its dual, a number of interesting twisted constructions appear: certain twisted Weyl algebras, deformed Leibniz rules, quantized ``star'' product. We first illuminate a number of interrelations between these constructions and then proceed to study a special case in certain precise sense corresponding to the symmetric or Weyl ordering. This case has been known earlier to be related to computations with Hausdorff series, for example the expression for the star product is in such terms. For the deformed Leibniz rule, hence a coproduct, we present here a new nonsymmetric expression, which is then expanded into a sum of expressions labelled by a class of planar trees, and for a given tree evaluated by Feynman-like rules. These expressions are filtered by a bidegree and we show recursion formulas for the sums of expressions of a given bidegree, and compare the recursions to recursions for Hausdorff series, including the comparison of initial conditions. This way we show a direct corespondence between the Hausdorff series and the expression for twisted coproduct.

Representations of noncommutative quantum mechanics and symmetries

We present a unified approach to representations of quantum mechanics on noncommutative spaces with general constant commutators of phase-space variables. We find two phases and duality relations among them in arbitrary dimensions. Conditions for physical equivalence of different representations of a given system are analysed. Symmetries and classification of phase spaces are discussed. Specially, the dynamical symmetry of a physical system is investigated. Finally, we apply our analyses to the two-dimesional harmonic oscillator and the Landau problem.

Generalized Quon Statistics

Generalized quons interpolating between Bose, Fermi, para-Bose, para-Fermi, and anyonic statistics are proposed. They follow from the R-matrix approach to deformed associative algebras. It is proved that generalized quons have the same main properties as quons. A new result for the number operator is presented and some physical features of generalized quons are discussed in the limit $|q_{ij}^{2}| \rightarrow 1$.
