On a generalization of Chen's iterated integrals

Chen's iterated integrals may be generalized by interpolation of functions of the positive integer number of times which particular forms are iterated in integrals along specific paths, to certain complex values. These generalized iterated integrals satisfy both an additive and a (non-classical) multiplicative iterative property, in addition to a comultiplication formula. This theory is developed in the first part of the paper, after which various applications are discussed, including the expression of certain zeta functions as complex iterated integrals (from which an obstruction to the existence of a contour integration proof of the functional equation for the Dedekind zeta function emerges); an elegant reformulation of a result of Gel'fand and Shilov in the theory of distributions which gives a way of thinking about complex iterated derivatives; and a direct topological proof of the monodromy of polylogarithms.

On an algebraic version of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation

A difference equation analogue of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation is exhibited by developing a theory of the generating function $H(z)$ of Hurwitz polyzeta functions to parallel that of the polylogarithms. By emulating the role of the KZ equation as a connection on a suitable bundle, a difference equation version of the notion of connection is developed for which $H(z)$ is a flat section. Solving a family of difference equations satisfied by the Hurwitz polyzetas leads to the normalized multiple Bernoulli polynomials (NMBPs) as the counterpart to the Hurwitz polyzeta functions, at tuples of negative integers. A generating function for these polynomials satisfies a similar difference equation to that of $H(z)$, but in contrast to the fact that said polynomials have rational coefficients, the algebraic independence of the Hurwitz polyzeta functions is proven. The values of the NMBPs at $z=1$ provide a regularization of the multiple zeta values at tuples of negative integers, which is shown to agree with the regularization given in work of S. Akiyama and collaborators. Various elementary properties of these values are proven.

Pullback of parabolic bundles and covers of ${\mathbb P}^1\setminus\{0,1,\infty\}$

We work over an algebraically closed ground field of characteristic zero. A $G$-cover of ${\mathbb P}^1$ ramified at three points allows one to assign to each finite dimensional representation $V$ of $G$ a vector bundle $\oplus \mathscr{O}(s_i)$ on ${\mathbb P}^1$ with parabolic structure at the ramification points. This produces a tensor functor from representation of $G$ to vector bundles with parabolic structure that characterises the original cover. This work attempts to describe this tensor functor in terms of group theoretic data. More precisely, we construct a pullback functor on vector bundles with parabolic structure and describe the parabolic pullback of the previously described tensor functor.
