Multi-field Mimetic Gravity

In this paper, we extend the mimetic gravity to the multi-field setup with a curved field space manifold. The multi-field mimetic scenario is realized via the singular limit of the conformal transformation between the auxiliary and the physical metrics. We look for the cosmological implications of the setup where it is shown that at the background level the mimetic energy density mimics the roles of dark matter. At the perturbation level, the scalar field perturbations are decomposed into the tangential and normal components with respect to the background field space trajectory. The adiabatic perturbation tangential to the background trajectory is frozen while the entropy mode perpendicular to the background trajectory propagates with the speed of unity. Whether or not the entropy perturbation is healthy directly depends on the signature of the field-space metric. We perform the full non-linear Hamiltonian analysis of the system with the curved field space manifold and calculate the physical degrees of freedom verifying that the system is free from the Ostrogradsky-type ghost.

Thermodynamic geometry of the novel 4-D Gauss Bonnet AdS Black Hole

In this paper, the new formalism of thermodynamic geometry proposed in [1] is employed in investigating phase transition points and the critical behavior of a Gauss Bonnet-AdS black hole in four dimensional spacetime. In this regard, extrinsic and intrinsic curvatures of a certain kind of hypersurface immersed in the thermodynamic manifold contain information about stability/instability of heat capacities. We, therefore, calculate the intrinsic curvature of the $Q$-zero hypersurface for a four-dimensional neutral Gauss Bonnet black hole case in the extended phase space. Interestingly, intrinsic curvature can be positive for small black holes at low temperature, which indicates a repulsive interaction among black hole microstructures. This finding is in contrast with the five-dimensional neutral Gauss Bonnet black hole with only dominant attractive interaction between its microstructures.

Universal criticality of thermodynamic geometry for boundary conformal field theories in gauge/gravity duality

According to more recent AdS/CFT interpretation \cite{Karch:2015rpa}, in which varying cosmological constant $Λ$ in the bulk corresponds to varying the curvature radius governing the space on which the field theory resides, we study the criticality of thermodynamic curvatures for thermal boundary conformal field theories (CFT) that are dual to $d$-dimensional charged anti-de Sitter (AdS) black holes, embedded in $D$-dimensional M-theory/superstring inspired models having $AdS_{d}\times \mathbb{S}^{d+k}$ spacetime with $D=2d+k$. Analogous with criticality features acquired for charged AdS black holes in the bulk \cite{HosseiniMansoori:2020jrx}, the normalized intrinsic curvature $R_N$ and extrinsic curvature $K_N$ of the boundary CFT has critical exponents 2 and 1, respectively. In this respect, the universal amplitude of $R_Nt^2$ is $\frac{1}{2}$ and $K_Nt$ is $-\frac{1}{2}$ when $t\rightarrow0^-$, whereas $R_Nt^2\approx \frac{1}{8}$ and $K_Nt\approx\frac{1}{4}$ in the limit $t\rightarrow0^+$ in which $t=T/T_c-1$ is the temperature parameter with the critical temperature, $T_{c}$. Interestingly, these critical amplitudes are independent of the number of thermal CFT dimensions and are remarkably similar to one given for higher dimensional charged AdS black holes in the bulk.

Complexity Growth, Butterfly Velocity and Black hole Thermodynamics

We propose a connection between the butterfly velocity and the complexity growth rate in the context of thermodynamics of black holes where the cosmological constant is interpreted as thermodynamic pressure. According to the Smarr formula of black hole systems, there are different relations between butterfly velocity and complexity growth rate. The accuracy of this relationship has been checked for several models.

Mimetic Inflation

We study inflationary solution in an extension of mimetic gravity with the higher derivative interactions coupled to gravity. Because of the higher derivative interactions, the setup is free from the ghost and gradient instabilities while it hosts a number of novel properties. The dispersion relation of scalar perturbations develops quartic momentum correction similar to the setup of ghost inflation. Furthermore, the tilt of tensor perturbations can take either signs with a modified consistency relation between the tilt and the amplitude of tensor perturbations. Despite the presence of higher derivative interactions coupled to gravity, the tensor perturbations propagate with a speed equal to the speed of light as required by the LIGO observations. Furthermore, the higher derivative interactions induce non-trivial interactions in cubic Hamiltonian, generating non-Gaussianities in various shapes such as the equilateral, orthogonal, and squeezed configurations with observable amplitudes.

Universal criticality of thermodynamic curvatures for charged AdS black holes

In this paper, we analytically study the critical exponents and universal amplitudes of the thermodynamic curvatures such as the intrinsic and extrinsic curvature at the critical point of the small-large black hole phase transition for the charged AdS black holes. At the critical point, it is found that the normalized intrinsic curvature $R_N$ and extrinsic curvature $K_N$ has critical exponents 2 and 1, respectively. Based on them, the universal amplitudes $R_Nt^2$ and $K_Nt$ are calculated with the temperature parameter $t=T/T_c-1$ where $T_c$ the critical value of the temperature. Near the critical point, we find that the critical amplitude of $R_Nt^2$ and $K_Nt$ is $-\frac{1}{2}$ when $t\rightarrow0^+$, whereas $R_Nt^2\approx -\frac{1}{8}$ and $K_Nt\approx-\frac{1}{4}$ in the limit $t\rightarrow0^-$. These results not only hold for the four dimensional charged AdS black hole, but also for the higher dimensional cases. Therefore, such universal properties will cast new insight into the thermodynamic geometries and black hole phase transitions.

Geometrothermodynamics as a singular conformal thermodynamic geometry

In this letter, we first redefine our formalism of the thermodynamic geometry introduced in [1,2] by changing coordinates of the thermodynamic space by means of Jacobian matrices. We then show that the geometrothermodynamics (GTD) is conformally related to this new formalism of the thermodynamic geometry. This conformal transformation is singular at unphysical points were generated in GTD metric. Therefore, working with our metric neatly excludes all unphysical points without imposing any constraints.

Critical behaviors and phase transitions of black holes in higher order gravities and extended phase spaces

We consider the critical behaviors and phase transitions of Gauss Bonnet-Born Infeld-AdS black holes (GB-BI-AdS) for $d=5,6$ and the extended phase space. We assume the cosmological constant, $Λ$, the coupling coefficient $α$, and the BI parameter $β$ to be thermodynamic pressures of the system. Having made these assumptions, the critical behaviors are then studied in the two canonical and grand canonical ensembles. We find "reentrant and triple point phase transitions" (RPT-TP) and "multiple reentrant phase transitions" (multiple RPT) with increasing pressure of the system for specific values of the coupling coefficient $α$ in the canonical ensemble. Also, we observe a reentrant phase transition (RPT) of GB-BI-AdS black holes in the grand canonical ensemble and for $d=6$. These calculations are then expanded to the critical behavior of Born-Infeld-AdS (BI-AdS) black holes in the third order of Lovelock gravity and in the grand canonical ensemble to find a Van der Waals behavior for $d=7$ and a reentrant phase transition for $d=8$ for specific values of potential $ϕ$ in the grand canonical ensemble. Furthermore, we obtain a similar behavior for the limit of $β\to \infty$, i.e charged-AdS black holes in the third order of the Lovelock gravity. Thus, it is shown that the critical behaviors of these black holes are independent of the parameter $β$ in the grand canonical ensemble.

Entanglement Thermodynamics of the Generalized Charged BTZ Black Hole

In this paper, we investigate the entanglement entropy for the generalized charged BTZ black hole through the $AdS_{3}/CFT_{2}$ correspondence. Using the holographic description of the entanglement entropy for the strip-subsystem in boundary $CFT_{2}$, we will find the first law-like relation between the variation of holographic entanglement entropy and the variation of energy of the subsystem in terms of the mass and the electric charge up to the second order. We also obtain appropriate counterterms to renormalize the energy tensor associated with the bulk on-shell actions.

Holographic Complexity in Gauge/String Superconductors

Following a methodology similar to \cite{Alishahiha:2015rta}, we derive a holographic complexity for two dimensional holographic superconductors (gauge/string superconductors) with backreactions. Applying a perturbation method proposed by Kanno in Ref. \cite{kanno}, we study behaviors of the complexity for a dual quantum system near critical points. We show that when a system moves from the normal phase ($T>T_c$) to the superconductor phase ($T<T_c$), the holographic complexity will be divergent.

Non-Abelian Aharonov-Bohm effect with the time-dependent gauge fields

We investigate the non-Abelian Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect for time-dependent gauge fields. We prove that the non-Abelian AB phase shift related to time-dependent gauge fields, in which the electric and magnetic fields are written in the adjoint representation of $SU(N)$ generators, vanishes up to the first order expansion of the phase factor. Therefore, the flux quantization in a superconductor ring does not appear in the time-dependent Abelian or non-Abelian AB effect.

Hessian matrix, specific heats, Nambu brackets, and thermodynamic geometry

As an extension to our earlier work \cite{Mirza2}, we employ the Nambu brackets to prove that the divergences of heat capacities correspond to their counterparts in thermodynamic geometry. We also obtain a simple representation for the conformal transformations that connect different thermodynamics metrics to each other. Using our bracket approach, we obtain interesting exact relations between the Hessian matrix with any number of parameters and specific heat capacities. Finally, we employ this approach to investigate some thermodynamic properties of the Meyers-Perry black holes with three spins.

Black hole temperature: minimal coupling vs conformal coupling

In this article, we discuss the propagation of scalar fields in conformally transformed spacetimes with either minimal or conformal coupling. The conformally coupled equation of motion is transformed into a one-dimensional Schrödinger-like equation with an invariant potential under conformal transformation. In a second stage, we argue that calculations based on conformal coupling yield the same Hawking temperature as those based on minimal coupling. Finally, it is conjectured that the quasi normal modes of black holes are invariant under conformal transformation.

Correspondence of phase transition points and singularities of thermodynamic geometry of black holes

We explore a formulation of thermodynamic geometry of black holes and prove that the divergent points of the specific heat correspond exactly to the singularities of the thermodynamic curvature. We investigate this correspondence for different types of black holes. This formulation can also be applied to an arbitrary thermodynamic system.
