Group Matrix Ring Codes and Constructions of Self-Dual Codes

In this work, we study codes generated by elements that come from group matrix rings. We present a matrix construction which we use to generate codes in two different ambient spaces: the matrix ring Mk(R)M_k(R) and the ring R,R, where RR is the commutative Frobenius ring. We show that codes over the ring Mk(R)M_k(R) are one sided ideals in the group matrix ring Mk(R)GM_k(R)G and the corresponding codes over the ring RR are GkG^k-codes of length kn.kn. Additionally, we give a generator matrix for self-dual codes, which consist of the mentioned above matrix construction. We employ this generator matrix to search for binary self-dual codes with parameters [72,36,12][72,36,12] and find new singly-even and doubly-even codes of this type. In particular, we construct 1616 new Type~I and 44 new Type~II binary [72,36,12][72,36,12] self-dual codes.

New Singly and Doubly Even Binary [72,36,12] Self-Dual Codes from M2(R)GM_2(R)G -- Group Matrix Rings

In this work, we present a number of generator matrices of the form [I2n ∣ τk(v)],[I_{2n} \ | \ τ_k(v)], where IknI_{kn} is the kn×knkn \times kn identity matrix, vv is an element in the group matrix ring M2(R)GM_2(R)G and where RR is a finite commutative Frobenius ring and GG is a finite group of order 18. We employ these generator matrices and search for binary [72,36,12][72,36,12] self-dual codes directly over the finite field F2.\mathbb{F}_2. As a result, we find 134 Type I and 1 Type II codes of this length, with parameters in their weight enumerators that were not known in the literature before. We tabulate all of our findings.

New Type I Binary [72, 36, 12] Self-Dual Codes from Composite Matrices and R1 Lifts

In this work, we define three composite matrices derived from group rings. We employ these composite matrices to create generator matrices of the form [In | Ω(v)], where In is the identity matrix and Ω(v) is a composite matrix and search for binary self-dual codes with parameters [36, 18, 6 or 8]. We next lift these codes over the ring R1 = F2 + uF2 to obtain codes whose binary images are self-dual codes with parameters [72,36,12]. Many of these codes turn out to have weight enumerators with parameters that were not known in the literature before. In particular, we find 30 new Type I binary self-dual codes with parameters [72, 36, 12].

New Characterizations of pseudo-Frobenius rings and a generalization of the FGF conjecture

We provide new characterizations of pseudo-Frobenius and quasi-Frobenius rings in terms of tight modules. In the process, we also provide fresh perspectives on FGF and CF conjectures. In particular, we propose new natural extensions of these conjectures which connect them with the classical theory of PF rings. Our techniques are mainly based on set-theoretic counting arguments initiated by Osofsky. Several corollaries and examples to illustrate their applications are given.
