MacWilliams extending conditions and quasi-Frobenius rings

MacWilliams proved that every finite field has the extension property for Hamming weight which was later extended in a seminal work by Wood who characterized finite Frobenius rings as precisely those rings which satisfy the MacWilliams extension property. In this paper, the question of when is a MacWilliams ring quasi-Frobenius is addressed. It is proved that a right or left noetherian left 1-MacWilliams ring is quasi-Frobenius thus answering the different questions asked in [M. C. Iovanov, On infinite MacWilliams rings and minimal injectivity conditions, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., DOI: 10.1090/proc/15929] and [F. M. Schneider, J. Zumbrägel, MacWilliams' extension theorem for infinite rings, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 147, 3 (2019), 947-961]. We also prove that a right perfect, left automorphism-invariant ring is left self-injective. In particular, this yields that if $R$ is a right (or left) artinian, left automorphism-invariant ring, then $R$ is quasi-Frobenius, thus answering a question asked in [M. C. Iovanov, On infinite MacWilliams rings and minimal injectivity conditions, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., DOI: 10.1090/proc/15929].

Strongly exchange rings

Two elements $a,b$ in a ring $R$ form a right coprime pair, written $\langle a,b\rangle$, if $aR+bR=R$. Right coprime pairs have shown to be quite useful in the study of left cotorsion or exchange rings. In this paper, we define the class of strongly right exchange rings in terms of descending chains of them. We show that they are semiregular and that this class of rings contains left injective, left pure-injective, left cotorsion, local and left continuous rings. This allows us to give a unified study of all these classes of rings in terms of the behaviour of descending chains of right coprime pairs.

Ziegler Partial Morphisms in additive exact categories

We develop a general theory of partial morphisms in additive exact categories which extends the model theoretic notion introduced by Ziegler in the particular case of pure-exact sequences in the category of modules over a ring. We relate partial morphisms with (co-)phantom morphisms and injective approximations and study the existence of such approximations in these exact categories.

Modules which are coinvariant under automorphisms of their projective covers

In this paper we study modules coinvariant under automorphisms of their projective covers. We first provide an alternative, and in fact, a more succinct and conceptual proof for the result that a module $M$ is invariant under automorphisms of its injective envelope if and only if given any submodule $N$ of $M$, any monomorphism $f:N\rightarrow M$ can be extended to an endomorphism of $M$ and then, as a dual of it, we show that over a right perfect ring, a module $M$ is coinvariant under automorphisms of its projective cover if and only if for every submodule $N$ of $M$, any epimorphism $φ: M\rightarrow M/N$ can be lifted to an endomorphism of $M$.

New Characterizations of pseudo-Frobenius rings and a generalization of the FGF conjecture

We provide new characterizations of pseudo-Frobenius and quasi-Frobenius rings in terms of tight modules. In the process, we also provide fresh perspectives on FGF and CF conjectures. In particular, we propose new natural extensions of these conjectures which connect them with the classical theory of PF rings. Our techniques are mainly based on set-theoretic counting arguments initiated by Osofsky. Several corollaries and examples to illustrate their applications are given.

Modules invariant under automorphisms of their covers and envelopes

In this paper we develop a general theory of modules which are invariant under automorphisms of their covers and envelopes. When applied to specific cases like injective envelopes, pure-injective envelopes, cotorsion envelopes, projective covers, or flat covers, these results extend and provide a much more succinct and clear proofs for various results existing in the literature. Our results are based on several key observations on the additive unit structure of von Neumann regular rings.

Additive Unit Representations in Endomorphism Rings and an Extension of a result of Dickson and Fuller

A module is called automorphism-invariant if it is invariant under any automorphism of its injective hull. Dickson and Fuller have shown that if $R$ is a finite-dimensional algebra over a field $\mathbb F$ with more than two elements then an indecomposable automorphism-invariant right $R$-module must be quasi-injective. In this note, we extend and simplify the proof of this result by showing that any automorphism-invariant module over an algebra over a field with more than two elements is quasi-injective. Our proof is based on the study of the additive unit structure of endomorphism rings.

Descent of restricted flat Mittag-Leffler modules and generalized vector bundles

A basic question for any property of quasi--coherent sheaves on a scheme $X$ is whether the property is local, that is, it can be defined using any open affine covering of $X$. Locality follows from the descent of the corresponding module property: for (infinite dimensional) vector bundles and Drinfeld vector bundles, it was proved by Kaplansky's technique of dévissage already in \cite[II.\S3]{RG}. Since vector bundles coincide with $\aleph_0$-restricted Drinfeld vector bundles, a question arose in \cite{EGPT} of whether locality holds for $κ$-restricted Drinfeld vector bundles for each infinite cardinal $κ$. We give a positive answer here by replacing the d\' evissage with its recent refinement involving $\mathcal C$-filtrations and the Hill Lemma.
