Denominators of R-matrices, higher Dorey's rules and a generalization of T-systems for quantum affine algebras

We construct a higher level analogue of Dorey's rule, which describe certain surjective morphisms between Kirillov--Reshetikhin (KR) modules over quantum affine algebras. Building on this, we establish a generalized T-system of short exact sequences and prove the denominator formula between KR modules in all nonexceptional types, except with only mild ambiguities persisting in type $C_n^{(1)}$. As a consequence, we can completely classify when a tensor product of KR modules is simple. These results have further applications to Schur positivity statements, quiver Hecke algebras, and the recently introduced $\mathfrak{d}$-invariants in monoidal categories over quantum affine algebras and quiver Hecke algebras.

Auto-correlation functions for unitary groups

We compute the auto-correlations functions of order $m\ge 1$ for the characteristic polynomials of random matrices from certain subgroups of the unitary groups $\U(2)$ and $\U(3)$ by applying branching rules. These subgroups can be understood as analogs of Sato--Tate groups of $\USp(4)$ in our previous paper. This computation yields symmetric polynomial identities with $m$-variables involving irreducible characters of $\U(m)$ for all $m \ge 1$ in an explicit, uniform way.

Monoidal categorification and quantum affine algebras II

We introduce a new family of real simple modules over the quantum affine algebras, called the affine determinantial modules, which contains the Kirillov-Reshetikhin (KR)-modules as a special subfamily, and then prove T-systems among them which generalize the T-systems among KR-modules and unipotent quantum minors in the quantum unipotent coordinate algebras simultaneously. We develop new combinatorial tools: admissible chains of i-boxes which produce commuting families of affine determinantial modules, and box moves which describe the T-system in a combinatorial way. Using these results, we prove that various module categories over the quantum affine algebras provide monoidal categorifications of cluster algebras. As special cases, Hernandez-Leclerc categories provide monoidal categorifications of the cluster algebras for an arbitrary quantum affine algebra.

Isomorphisms among quantum Grothendieck rings and propagation of positivity

Let ($\mathfrak{g},\mathsf{g})$ be a pair of complex finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras whose Dynkin diagrams are related by (un)folding, with $\mathsf{g}$ being of simply-laced type. We construct a collection of ring isomorphisms between the quantum Grothendieck rings of monoidal categories $\mathscr{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ and $\mathscr{C}_{\mathsf{g}}$ of finite-dimensional representations over the quantum loop algebras of $\mathfrak{g}$ and $\mathsf{g}$ respectively. As a consequence, we solve long-standing problems : the positivity of the analogs of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials and the positivity of the structure constants of the quantum Grothendieck rings for any non-simply-laced $\mathfrak{g}$. In addition, comparing our isomorphisms with the categorical relations arising from the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl dualities, we prove the analog of Kazhdan-Lusztig conjecture (formulated in [H., Adv. Math., 2004]) for simple modules in remarkable monoidal subcategories of $\mathscr{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ for any non-simply-laced $\mathfrak{g}$, and for any simple finite-dimensional modules in $\mathscr{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ for $\mathfrak{g}$ of type $\mathrm{B}_n$. In the course of the proof we obtain and combine several new ingredients. In particular we establish a quantum analog of $T$-systems, and also we generalize the isomorphisms of [H.-Leclerc, J. Reine Angew. Math., 2015] and [H.-O., Adv. Math., 2019] to all $\mathfrak{g}$ in a unified way, that is isomorphisms between subalgebras of the quantum group of $\mathsf{g}$ and subalgebras of the quantum Grothendieck ring of $\mathscr{C}_\mathfrak{g}$.

The intrinsic structure of Sagittarius A* at 1.3 cm and 7 mm

Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), the Galactic Center supermassive black hole (SMBH), is one of the best targets to resolve the innermost region of SMBH with very long baseline interferometry (VLBI). In this study, we have carried out observations toward Sgr A* at 1.349 cm (22.223 GHz) and 6.950 mm (43.135 GHz) with the East Asian VLBI Network, as a part of the multi-wavelength campaign of the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) in 2017 April. To mitigate scattering effects, the physically motivated scattering kernel model from Psaltis et al. (2018) and the scattering parameters from Johnson et al. (2018) have been applied. As a result, a single, symmetric Gaussian model well describes the intrinsic structure of Sgr A* at both wavelengths. From closure amplitudes, the major-axis sizes are ~704$\pm$102 $μ$as (axial ratio $\sim$1.19$^{+0.24}_{-0.19}$) and $\sim$300$\pm$25 $μ$as (axial ratio $\sim$1.28$\pm$0.2) at 1.349 cm and 6.95 mm respectively. Together with a quasi-simultaneous observation at 3.5 mm (86 GHz) by Issaoun et al. (2019), we show that the intrinsic size scales with observing wavelength as a power-law, with an index $\sim$1.2$\pm$0.2. Our results also provide estimates of the size and compact flux density at 1.3 mm, which can be incorporated into the analysis of the EHT observations. In terms of the origin of radio emission, we have compared the intrinsic structures with the accretion flow scenario, especially the radiatively inefficient accretion flow based on the Keplerian shell model. With this, we show that a nonthermal electron population is necessary to reproduce the source sizes.

Auto-correlation functions of Sato-Tate distributions and identities of symplectic characters

The Sato-Tate distributions for genus 2 curves (conjecturally) describe the statistics of numbers of rational points on the curves. In this paper, we explicitly compute the auto-correlation functions of Sato-Tate distributions for genus 2 curves as sums of irreducible characters of symplectic groups. Our computations bring about families of identities involving irreducible characters of symplectic groups $Sp(2m)$ for all $m \in \mathbb Z_{\ge 1}$, which have interest in their own rights.

Braid group action on the module category of quantum affine algebras

Let $\mathfrak{g}_0$ be a simple Lie algebra of type ADE and let $U'_q(\mathfrak{g})$ be the corresponding untwisted quantum affine algebra. We show that there exists an action of the braid group $B(\mathfrak{g}_0)$ on the quantum Grothendieck ring $K_t(\mathfrak{g})$ of Hernandez-Leclerc's category $C_{\mathfrak{g}}^0$. Focused on the case of type $A_{N-1}$, we construct a family of monoidal autofunctors $\{\mathscr{S}_i\}_{i\in \mathbb{Z}}$ on a localization $T_N$ of the category of finite-dimensional graded modules over the quiver Hecke algebra of type $A_{\infty}$. Under an isomorphism between the Grothendieck ring $K(T_N)$ of $T_N$ and the quantum Grothendieck ring $K_t({A^{(1)}_{N-1}})$, the functors $\{\mathscr{S}_i\}_{1\le i\le N-1}$ recover the action of the braid group $B(A_{N-1})$. We investigate further properties of these functors.

Categories over quantum affine algebras and monoidal categorification

Let $U_q'(\mathfrak{g})$ be a quantum affine algebra of untwisted affine $ADE$ type, and $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^0$ the Hernandez-Leclerc category of finite-dimensional $U_q'(\mathfrak{g})$-modules. For a suitable infinite sequence $\widehat{w}_0= \cdots s_{i_{-1}}s_{i_0}s_{i_1} \cdots$ of simple reflections, we introduce subcategories $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^{[a,b]}$ of $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^0$ for all $a \le b \in \mathbb{Z}\sqcup\{ \pm \infty \}$. Associated with a certain chain $\mathfrak{C}$ of intervals in $[a,b]$, we construct a real simple commuting family $M(\mathfrak{C})$ in $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^{[a,b]}$, which consists of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules. The category $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^{[a,b]}$ provides a monoidal categorification of the cluster algebra $K(\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^{[a,b]})$, whose set of initial cluster variables is $[M(\mathfrak{C})]$. In particular, this result gives an affirmative answer to the monoidal categorification conjecture on $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^-$ by Hernandez-Leclerc since it is $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^{[-\infty,0]}$, and is also applicable to $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^0$ since it is $\mathcal{C}_{\mathfrak{g}}^{[-\infty,\infty]}$.

Localizations for quiver Hecke algebras

We provide the localization procedure for monoidal categories by a real commuting family of braiders. For an element $w$ of the Weyl group, $\mathscr{C}_w$ is a subcategory of modules over quiver Hecke algebra which categorifies the quantum unipotent coordinate algebra $A_q[\mathfrak{n}(w)]$. We construct the localization $\widetilde{\mathscr{C}_w}$ of $\mathscr{C}_w$ by adding the inverses of simple modules which correspond to the frozen variables in the quantum cluster algebra $A_q[\mathfrak{n}(w)]$. The localization $\widetilde{\mathscr{C}_w}$ is left rigid and we expect that it is rigid.

PBW theoretic approach to the module category of quantum affine algebras

Let $U_q'(\mathfrak{g})$ be a quantum affine algebra of untwisted affine ADE type and let $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$ be Hernandez-Leclerc's category. For a duality datum $\mathcal{D}$ in $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$, we denote by $\mathcal{F}_{\mathcal{D}}$ the quantum affine Weyl-Schur duality functor. We give sufficient conditions for a duality datum $\mathcal{D}$ to provide the functor $\mathcal{F}_{\mathcal{D}}$ sending simple modules to simple modules. Then we introduce the notion of cuspidal modules in $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$, and show that all simple modules in $\mathcal{C}^0_{\mathfrak{g}}$ can be constructed as the heads of ordered tensor products of cuspidal modules.

Kinematics of the M87 jet in the collimation zone: gradual acceleration and velocity stratification

We study the kinematics of the M87 jet using the first year data of the KVN and VERA Array (KaVA) large program, which has densely monitored the jet at 22 and 43 GHz since 2016. We find that the apparent jet speeds generally increase from $\approx0.3c$ at $\approx0.5$ mas from the jet base to $\approx2.7c$ at $\approx20$ mas, indicating that the jet is accelerated from subluminal to superluminal speeds on these scales. We perform a complementary jet kinematic analysis by using archival Very Long Baseline Array monitoring data observed in $2005-2009$ at 1.7 GHz and find that the jet is moving at relativistic speeds up to $\approx5.8c$ at distances of $200-410$ mas. We combine the two kinematic results and find that the jet is gradually accelerated over a broad distance range that coincides with the jet collimation zone, implying that conversion of Poynting flux to kinetic energy flux takes place. If the jet emission consists of a single streamline, the observed trend of jet acceleration ($Γ\propto z^{0.16\pm0.01}$) is relatively slow compared to models of a highly magnetized jet. This indicates that Poynting flux conversion through the differential collimation of poloidal magnetic fields may be less efficient than expected. However, we find a non-negligible dispersion in the observed speeds for a given jet distance, making it difficult to describe the jet velocity field with a single power-law acceleration function. We discuss the possibility that the jet emission consists of multiple streamlines following different acceleration profiles, resulting in jet velocity stratification.

Spatially Resolved HCN Absorption Features in the Circumnuclear Region of NGC 1052

We present the first VLBI detection of HCN molecular absorption in the nearby active galactic nucleus NGC 1052. Utilizing the 1 milliarcsecond resolution achieved by the Korean VLBI Network, we have spatially resolved the HCN absorption against a double-sided nuclear jet structure. Two velocity features of HCN absorption are detected significantly at the radial velocity of 1656 and 1719 km/s, redshifted by 149 and 212 km/s with respect to the systemic velocity of the galaxy. The column density of the HCN molecule is estimated to be 10^{15}-10^{16} cm^{-2}, assuming the excitation temperature of 100-230 K. The absorption features show high optical depth localized on the receding jet side, where the free-free absorption occurred due to the circumnuclear torus. The size of the foreground absorbing molecular gas is estimated to be on approximately one-parsec scales, which agrees well with the approximate size of the circumnuclear torus. HCN absorbing gas is likely to be several clumps smaller than 0.1 parsec inside the circumnuclear torus. The redshifted velocities of the HCN absorption features imply that HCN absorbing gas traces ongoing infall motion inside the circumnuclear torus onto the central engine.

Twisted Coxeter elements and folded AR-quivers via Dynkin diagram automorphisms: I

We introduce and study the twisted adapted $r$-cluster point and its combinatorial Auslander-Reiten quivers, called twisted AR-quivers and folded AR-quivers, of type $A_{2n+1}$ which are closely related to twisted Coxeter elements and the non-trivial Dynkin diagram automorphism. As applications of the study, we prove that folded AR-quivers encode crucial information on the representation theory of quantum affine algebra $U_q'(B^{(1)}_{n+1})$ such as Dorey's rule and denominator formulas.

Twisted Coxeter elements and Folded AR-quivers via Dynkin diagram automorphisms:II

As a continuation of the previous paper, we find a combinatorial interpretation of Dorey's rule for type $C_n$ via twisted Auslander-Reiten quivers (AR-quivers) of type $D_{n+1}$, which are combinatorial AR-quivers related to certain Dynkin diagram automorphisms. Combinatorial properties of twisted AR-quivers are useful to understand not only Dorey's rule but also other notions in the representation theory of the quantum affine algebra $U_q'(C_n^{(1)})$ such as denominator formulas. In addition, unlike twisted adapted classes of type $A_{2n-1}$ in the previous paper, we show twisted AR-quivers of type $D_{n+1}$ consist of the cluster point called twisted adapted cluster point. Hence, by introducing new combinatorial objects called twisted Dynkin quivers of type $D_{n+1}$, we give one to one correspondences between twisted Coxeter elements, twisted adapted classes and twisted AR-quivers.

A New Hardware Correlator in Korea: Performance Evaluation using KVN observations

We report results of the performance evaluation of a new hardware correlator in Korea, the Daejeon correlator, developed by the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ). We conducted Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations at 22~GHz with the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) in Korea and the VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry (VERA) in Japan, and correlated the aquired data with the Daejeon correlator. For evaluating the performance of the new hardware correlator, we compared the correlation outputs from the Daejeon correlator for KVN observations with those from a software correlator, the Distributed FX (DiFX). We investigated the correlated flux densities and brightness distributions of extragalactic compact radio sources. The comparison of the two correlator outputs show that they are consistent with each other within $<8\%$, which is comparable with the amplitude calibration uncertainties of KVN observations at 22~GHz. We also found that the 8\% difference in flux density is caused mainly by (a) the difference in the way of fringe phase tracking between the DiFX software correlator and the Daejeon hardware correlator, and (b) an unusual pattern (a double-layer pattern) of the amplitude correlation output from the Daejeon correlator. The visibility amplitude loss by the double-layer pattern is as small as 3\%. We conclude that the new hardware correlator produces reasonable correlation outputs for continuum observations, which are consistent with the outputs from the DiFX software correlator.

Amplitude Correction Factors of KVN Observations

We report results of investigation of amplitude calibration for very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) observations with Korean VLBI Network (KVN). Amplitude correction factors are estimated based on comparison of KVN observations at 22~GHz correlated by Daejeon hardware correlator and DiFX software correlator in Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) with Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations at 22~GHz by DiFX software correlator in National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO). We used the observations for compact radio sources, 3C 454.3, NRAO 512, OJ 287, BL Lac, 3C 279, 1633+382, and 1510-089, which are almost unresolved for baselines in a range of 350-477 km. Visibility data of the sources obtained with similar baselines at KVN and VLBA are selected, fringe-fitted, calibrated, and compared for their amplitudes. We found that visibility amplitudes of KVN observations should be corrected by factors of 1.10 and 1.35 when correlated by DiFX and Daejeon correlators, respectively. These correction factors are attributed to the combination of two steps of 2-bit quantization in KVN observing systems and characteristics of Daejeon correlator.

Auslander-Reiten quiver of type A and generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality

The quiver Hecke algebra $R$ can be also understood as a generalization of the affine Hecke algebra of type $A$ in the context of the quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality by the results of Kang, Kashiwara and Kim. On the other hand, it is well-known that the Auslander-Reiten(AR) quivers $Γ_Q$ of finite simply-laced types have a deep relation with the positive roots systems of the corresponding types. In this paper, we present explicit combinatorial descriptions for the AR-quivers $Γ_Q$ of finite type $A$. Using the combinatorial descriptions, we can investigate relations between finite dimensional module categories over the quantum affine algebra $U'_q(A_n^{(i)})$ $(i=1,2)$ and finite dimensional graded module categories over the quiver Hecke algebra $R_{A_n}$ associated to $A_n$ through the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor.

Auslander-Reiten quiver of type D and generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality

We first provide an explicit combinatorial description of the Auslander-Reiten quiver $Γ^Q$ of finite type $D$. Then we can investigate the categories of finite dimensional representations over the quantum affine algebra $U_q'(D^{(i)}_{n+1})$ $(i=1,2)$ and the quiver Hecke algebra $R_{D_{n+1}}$ associated to $D_{n+1}$ $(n \ge 3)$, by using the combinatorial description and the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor. As applications, we can prove that Dorey's rule holds for the category $\Rep(R_{D_{n+1}})$ and prove an interesting difference between multiplicity free positive roots and multiplicity non-free positive roots.

Monoidal categorification of cluster algebras II

We prove that the quantum unipotent coordinate algebra $A_q(\mathfrak{n}(w))\ $ associated with a symmetric Kac-Moody algebra and its Weyl group element $w$ has a monoidal categorification as a quantum cluster algebra. As an application of our earlier work, we achieve it by showing the existence of a quantum monoidal seed of $A_q(\mathfrak{n}(w))$ which admits the first-step mutations in all the directions. As a consequence, we solve the conjecture that any cluster monomial is a member of the upper global basis up to a power of $q^{1/2}$.

Symmetric quiver Hecke algebras and R-matrices of Quantum affine algebras IV

Let $U'_q(\mathfrak{g})$ be a twisted affine quantum group of type $A_{N}^{(2)}$ or $D_{N}^{(2)}$ and let $\mathfrak{g}_{0}$ be the finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra of type $A_{N}$ or $D_{N}$. For a Dynkin quiver of type $\mathfrak{g}_{0}$, we define a full subcategory ${\mathcal C}_{Q}^{(2)}$ of the category of finite-dimensional integrable $U'_q(\mathfrak{g})$-modules, a twisted version of the category ${\mathcal C}_{Q}$ introduced by Hernandez and Leclerc. Applying the general scheme of affine Schur-Weyl duality, we construct an exact faithful KLR-type duality functor ${\mathcal F}_{Q}^{(2)}: Rep(R) \rightarrow {\mathcal C}_{Q}^{(2)}$, where $Rep(R)$ is the category of finite-dimensional modules over the quiver Hecke algebra $R$ of type $\mathfrak{g}_{0}$ with nilpotent actions of the generators $x_k$. We show that ${\mathcal F}_{Q}^{(2)}$ sends any simple object to a simple object and induces a ring isomorphism $K(Rep(R)) \simeq K({\mathcal C}_{Q}^{(2)})$.

The East-Asian VLBI Network

The East-Asian VLBI Network (EAVN) is the international VLBI facility in East Asia and is conducted in collaboration with China, Japan, and Korea. The EAVN consists of VLBI arrays operated in each East Asian country, containing 21 radio telescopes and three correlators. The EAVN will be mainly operated at 6.7 (C-band), 8 (X-band), 22 (K-band), and 43 GHz (Q-band), although the EAVN has an ability to conduct observations at 1.6 - 129 GHz. We have conducted fringe test observations eight times to date at 8 and 22 GHz and fringes have been successfully detected at both frequencies. We have also conducted science commissioning observations of 6.7 GHz methanol masers in massive star-forming regions. The EAVN will be operational from the second half of 2017, providing complementary results with the FAST on AGNs, massive star-forming regions, and evolved stars with high angular resolution at cm- to mm-wavelengths.

Astrometrically Registered Simultaneous Observations of the 22 GHz H$_2$O and the 43GHz SiO masers towards R Leonis Minoris using KVN and Source/Frequency Phase Referencing

Oxygen-rich Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) stars can be intense emitters of SiO ($v$=1 and 2, J=1$\rightarrow$0) and H$_2$O maser lines at 43 and 22 GHz, respectively. VLBI observations of the maser emission provide a unique tool to probe the innermost layers of the circumstellar envelopes in AGB stars. Nevertheless, the difficulties in achieving astrometrically aligned \water\ and $v$=1 and $v$=2 SiO maser maps have traditionally limited the physical constraints that can be placed on the SiO maser pumping mechanism. We present phase referenced simultaneous spectral-line VLBI images for the SiO $v$=1 and $v$=2, J=1$\rightarrow$0, and H$_2$O maser emission around the AGB star R\,LMi, obtained from the Korean VLBI Network (KVN). The simultaneous multi-channel receivers of the KVN offer great possibilities for astrometry in the frequency domain. With this facility we have produced images with bona-fide absolute astrometric registration between high frequency maser transitions of different species to provide the positions of the \water\ maser emission, and the centre of the SiO maser emission, and hence reducing the uncertainty in the proper motion for R\,LMi by an order of magnitude over that from Hipparcos. This is the first successful demonstration of source frequency phase referencing for mm-VLBI spectral-line observations and also where the ratio between the frequencies is not an integer.

Monoidal categorification of cluster algebras

We give a definition of monoidal categorifications of quantum cluster algebras and provide a criterion for a monoidal category of finite-dimensional graded $R$-modules to become a monoidal categorification of a quantum cluster algebra, where $R$ is a symmetric Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebra. Roughly speaking, this criterion asserts that a quantum monoidal seed can be mutated successively in all the directions once the first-step mutations are possible. In the course of the study, we also give a proof of a conjecture of Leclerc on the product of upper global basis elements.

The Andrews-Olsson identity and Bessenrodt insertion algorithm on Young walls

We extend the Andrews-Olsson identity to two-colored partitions. Regarding the sets of proper Young walls of quantum affine algebras $\g_n=A^{(2)}_{2n}$, $A^{(2)}_{2n-1}$, $B^{(1)}_{n}$, $D^{(1)}_{n}$ and $D^{(2)}_{n+1}$ as the sets of two-colored partitions, the extended Andrews-Olsson identity implies that the generating functions of the sets of reduced Young walls have very simple formulae: \begin{center} $\prod^{\infty}_{i=1}(1+t^i)^{κ_i}$ where $κ_i=0$, $1$ or $2$, and $κ_i$ varies periodically. \end{center} Moreover, we generalize the Bessenrodt's algorithms to prove the extended Andrews-Olsson identity in an alternative way. From these algorithms, we can give crystal structures on certain subsets of pair of strict partitions which are isomorphic to the crystal bases $B(Λ)$ of the level $1$ highest weight modules $V(Λ)$ over $U_q(\g_n)$.

The Denominators of normalized R-matrices of types $A_{2n-1}^{(2)}$, $A_{2n}^{(2)}$, $B_{n}^{(1)}$ and $D_{n+1}^{(2)}$

Denominators of normalized $R$-matrices provide important information on finite dimensional representations over quantum affine algebras, and over quiver Hecke algebras by the generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functors. We compute the denominators of all normalized $R$-matrices between fundamental representations of types $A_{2n-1}^{(2)}$, $A_{2n}^{(2)}$, $B_{n}^{(1)}$ and $D_{n+1}^{(2)}$. Thus we can conclude that the normalized $R$-matrices of types $A_{2n-1}^{(2)}$, $A_{2n}^{(2)}$, $B_{n}^{(1)}$ have only simple poles, and of type $D_{n+1}^{(2)}$ have double poles under certain conditions.

The First Very Long Baseline Interferometry Image of 44 GHz Methanol Maser with the KVN and VERA Array (KaVA)

We have carried out the first very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) imaging of 44 GHz class I methanol maser (7_{0}-6_{1}A^{+}) associated with a millimeter core MM2 in a massive star-forming region IRAS 18151-1208 with KaVA (KVN and VERA Array), which is a newly combined array of KVN (Korean VLBI Network) and VERA (VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry). We have succeeded in imaging compact maser features with a synthesized beam size of 2.7 milliarcseconds x 1.5 milliarcseconds (mas). These features are detected at a limited number of baselines within the length of shorter than approximately 650 km corresponding to 100 Mlambda in the uv-coverage. The central velocity and the velocity width of the 44 GHz methanol maser are consistent with those of the quiescent gas rather than the outflow traced by the SiO thermal line. The minimum component size among the maser features is ~ 5 mas x 2 mas, which corresponds to the linear size of ~ 15 AU x 6 AU assuming a distance of 3 kpc. The brightness temperatures of these features range from ~ 3.5 x 10^{8} to 1.0 x 10^{10} K, which are higher than estimated lower limit from a previous Very Large Array observation with the highest spatial resolution of ~ 50 mas. The 44 GHz class I methanol maser in IRAS 18151-1208 is found to be associated with the MM2 core, which is thought to be less evolved than another millimeter core MM1 associated with the 6.7 GHz class II methanol maser.

Verification of the Astrometric Performance of the Korean VLBI Network, using comparative SFPR studies with the VLBA at 14/7 mm

The Korean VLBI Network (KVN) is a new mm-VLBI dedicated array with capability for simultaneous observations at multiple frequencies, up to 129 GHz. The innovative multi-channel receivers present significant benefits for astrometric measurements in the frequency domain. The aim of this work is to verify the astrometric performance of the KVN using a comparative study with the VLBA, a well established instrument. For that purpose, we carried out nearly contemporaneous observations with the KVN and the VLBA, at 14/7 mm, in April 2013. The KVN observations consisted of simultaneous dual frequency observations, while the VLBA used fast frequency switching observations. We used the Source Frequency Phase Referencing technique for the observational and analysis strategy. We find that having simultaneous observations results in a superior performance for compensation of all atmospheric terms in the observables, in addition to offering other significant benefits for astrometric analysis. We have compared the KVN astrometry measurements to those from the VLBA. We find that the structure blending effects introduce dominant systematic astrometric shifts and these need to be taken into account. We have tested multiple analytical routes to characterize the impact of the low resolution effects for extended sources in the astrometric measurements. The results from the analysis of KVN and full VLBA datasets agree within 2-$σ$ of the thermal error estimate. We interpret the discrepancy as arising from the different resolutions. We find that the KVN provides astrometric results with excellent agreement, within 1-$σ$, when compared to a VLBA configuration which has a similar resolution. Therefore this comparative study verifies the astrometric performance of KVN using SFPR at 14/7 mm, and validates the KVN as an astrometric instrument.

VLBI observations of bright AGN jets with KVN and VERA Array (KaVA): Evaluation of Imaging Capability

The Korean very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) network (KVN) and VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry (VERA) Array (KaVA) is the first international VLBI array dedicated to high-frequency (23 and 43 GHz bands) observations in East Asia. Here, we report the first imaging observations of three bright active galactic nuclei (AGNs) known for their complex morphologies: 4C 39.25, 3C 273, and M 87. This is one of the initial result of KaVA early science. Our KaVA images reveal extended outflows with complex substructure such as knots and limb brightening, in agreement with previous Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations. Angular resolutions are better than 1.4 and 0.8 milliarcsecond at 23 GHz and 43 GHz, respectively. KaVA achieves a high dynamic range of ~1000, more than three times the value achieved by VERA. We conclude that KaVA is a powerful array with a great potential for the study of AGN outflows, at least comparable to the best existing radio interferometric arrays.

Young walls and graded dimension formulas for finite quiver Hecke algebras of type $A^{(2)}_{2\ell}$ and $D^{(2)}_{\ell+1}$

We study graded dimension formulas for finite quiver Hecke algebras $R^{Λ_0}(β)$ of type $A^{(2)}_{2\ell}$ and $D^{(2)}_{\ell+1}$ using combinatorics of Young walls. We introduce the notion of standard tableaux for proper Young walls and show that the standard tableaux form a graded poset with lattice structure. We next investigate Laurent polynomials associated with proper Young walls and their standard tableaux arising from the Fock space representations consisting of proper Young walls. Then we prove the graded dimension formulas described in terms of the Laurent polynomials. When evaluating at $q=1$, the graded dimension formulas recover the dimension formulas for $R^{Λ_0}(β)$ described in terms of standard tableaux of strict partitions.

We construct and investigate the structure of the Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras $R$ and their cyclotomic quotients $R^λ$ which give a categrification of quantum generalized Kac-Moody algebras. Let $U_\A(\g)$ be the integral form of the quantum generalized Kac-Moody algebra associated with a Borcherds-Cartan matrix $A=(a_{ij})_{i,j \in I}$ and let $K_0(R)$ be the Grothedieck group of finitely generated projective graded $R$-modules. We prove that there exists an injective algebra homomorphism $Φ: U_\A^-(\g) \to K_0(R)$ and that $Φ$ is an isomorphism if $a_{ii}\ne 0$ for all $i\in I$. Let $B(\infty)$ and $B(λ)$ be the crystals of $U_q^-(\g)$ and $V(λ)$, respectively, where $V(λ)$ is the irreducible highest weight $U_q(\g)$-module. We denote by $\mathfrak{B}(\infty)$ and $\mathfrak{B}(λ)$ the isomorphism classes of irreducible graded modules over $R$ and $R^λ$, respectively. If $a_{ii}\ne 0$ for all $i\in I$, we define the $U_q(\g)$-crystal structures on $\mathfrak{B}(\infty)$ and $\mathfrak{B}(λ)$, and show that there exist crystal isomorphisms $\mathfrak{B}(\infty) \simeq B(\infty)$ and $\mathfrak{B}(λ) \simeq B(λ)$. One of the key ingredients of our approach is the perfect basis theory for generalized Kac-Moody algebras.

Construction of Irreducible Representations over Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier Algebras of Finite Classical Type

We give an explicit construction of irreducible modules over Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras $R$ and their cyclotomic quotients $R^λ$ for finite classical types using a crystal basis theoretic approach. More precisely, for each element $v$ of the crystal $B(\infty)$ (resp. $B(λ)$), we first construct certain modules $\nabla(\mathbf{a};k)$ labeled by the adapted string $\mathbf{a}$ of $v$. We then prove that the head of the induced module $\ind \big(\nabla(\mathbf{a};1) \boxtimes...\boxtimes \nabla(\mathbf{a};n)\big)$ is irreducible and that every irreducible $R$-module (resp. $R^λ$-module) can be realized as the irreducible head of one of the induced modules $\ind (\nabla(\mathbf{a};1) \boxtimes...\boxtimes \nabla(\mathbf{a};n))$. Moreover, we show that our construction is compatible with the crystal structure on $B(\infty)$ (resp. $B(λ)$).

Single dish performance of KVN 21-m radio telescopes:Simultaneous observations at 22 and 43 GHz

We report simultaneous multi-frequency observing performance at 22 and 43 GHz of the 21-m shaped-Cassegrain radio telescopes of the Korean VLBI Network (KVN). KVN is the first millimeter-dedicated VLBI network in Korea having a maximum baseline length of 480 km. It currently operates at 22 and 43 GHz and planed to operate in four frequency bands, 22, 43, 86, and 129 GHz. The unique quasioptics of KVN enable simultaneous multi-frequency observations based on efficient beam filtering and accuarate antenna-beam alignment at 22 and 43 GHz. We found that the offset of the beams is within <5 arcseconds over all pointing directions of antenna. The dual polarization, cooled HEMT receivers at 22 and 43 GHz result in receiver noise temperatures less than 40 K at 21.25-23.25 GHz and 80 K at 42.11-44.11 GHz. The pointing accuracies have been measured to be 3 arcseconds in azimuth and elevation for all antennas. The measured aperture efficiencies are 65%(K)/67%(Q), 62%(K)/59%(Q), and 66%(K)/60%(Q) for the three KVN antennas, KVNYS, KVNUS, and KVNTN, respectively. The main-beam efficiencies are measured to be 50%(K)/52%(Q), 48%(K)/50%(Q), and 50%(K)/47%(Q) for KVNYS, KVNUS, and KVNTN, respectively. The estimated Moon efficiencies are 77%(K)/90%(Q), 74%(K)/79%(Q), and 80%(K)/86%(Q) for KVNYS, KVNUS, KVNTN, respectively. The elevation dependence of the aperture efficiencies is quite flat for elevations > 20 degrees.

Young Walls of Type $D^(2)_n+1$ and Strict Partitions

We show that the number of reduced Young walls of type $D_{n+1}^{(2)}$ with $m$ blocks is independent of $n$ and the same as the number of strict partitions of $m$. Thus the principally specialized character $χ_n^{Λ_0}(t)$ of $V(Λ_0)$ over $U_q(D_{n+1}^{(2)})$ can be interpreted as a generating function for strict partitions. Hence we obtain an infinite family of generalizations of Euler's partition identity.
