A Decision Support System to Choose Optimal Release Cycle Length in Incremental Software Development Environments

In the last few years it has been seen that many software vendors have started delivering projects incrementally with very short release cycles. Best examples of success of this approach has been Ubuntu Operating system that has a 6 months release cycle and popular web browsers such as Google Chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox. However there is very little knowledge available to the project managers to validate the chosen release cycle length. We propose a decision support system that helps to validate and estimate release cycle length in the early development phase by assuming that release cycle length is directly affected by three factors, (i) choosing right requirements for current cycle, (ii) estimating proximal time for each requirement, (iii) requirement wise feedback from last iteration based on product reception, model accuracy and failed requirements. We have altered and used the EVOLVE technique proposed by G. Ruhe to select best requirements for current cycle and map it to time domain using UCP (Use Case Points) based estimation and feedback factors. The model has been evaluated on both in-house as well as industry projects.

An Efficient Method of Partitioning High Volumes of Multidimensional Data for Parallel Clustering Algorithms

An optimal data partitioning in parallel & distributed implementation of clustering algorithms is a necessary computation as it ensures independent task completion, fair distribution, less number of affected points and better & faster merging. Though partitioning using Kd Tree is being conventionally used in academia, it suffers from performance drenches and bias (non equal distribution) as dimensionality of data increases and hence is not suitable for practical use in industry where dimensionality can be of order of 100s to 1000s. To address these issues we propose two new partitioning techniques using existing mathematical models & study their feasibility, performance (bias and partitioning speed) & possible variants in choosing initial seeds. First method uses an n dimensional hashed grid based approach which is based on mapping the points in space to a set of cubes which hashes the points. Second method uses a tree of voronoi planes where each plane corresponds to a partition. We found that grid based approach was computationally impractical, while using a tree of voronoi planes (using scalable K-Means++ initial seeds) drastically outperformed the Kd-tree tree method as dimensionality increased.

Energy efficient neighbor selection for flat wireless sensor networks

In this paper we have analyzed energy efficient neighbour selection algorithms for routing in wireless sensor networks. Since energy saving or consumption is an important aspect of wireless sensor networks, its precise usage is highly desirable both for the faithful performance of network and to increase the network life time. For this work, we have considered a flat network topology where every node has the same responsibility and capability. We have compared two energy efficient algorithms and analyzed their performances with increase in number of nodes, time rounds and node failures.

Impact of Internet Governance

This paper represents the overview of the influence of internet governance in all the transactions, trading, business, social services, educational activities, research etc. occurring through the internet. It is very essential to implement laws and regulations in the field wherever the transaction takes place, either in the form of money, material or services. To avoid any kind of fraud and cheating and to establish a peaceful environment in physical as well as virtual word, it is essential to have some organization which assures safety and security. Here I-governance is the governing body that tries to take care of all those requirements.
